:bomb: The values in the Lists do not match the values in the Estimator. What's up with that?
I don't know. It seems the Lists are usually updated on Sundays, and the TIVs are adjusted to reflect the List in a few days. But as trades are made, the TIVs may change and the Lists are not updated frequently. Again, check the Estimator for latest TIV.

The promo says "Trade 2..." or "Trade 3..." but I only want to trade 1 game, will I still get $x amount?
You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. The promo is titled "Trade 2" etc to make the giftcards sound more lucrative.

The 2 games I want to trade are worth more than $60 combined according to the Estimator. Does that mean I will only get $60 for the 2 games?
No. You will get whatever TIV is offered according to the Estimator for each game. For example, if your total according to the Estimator is $70, you will get a $70 giftcard.

:bomb: If I locked in a trade online, and the value drops, will I still get the locked in value when I mail it in?
Yes. You will get the locked in TIV as long as you ship it before the "Ship by" date "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value" (as of 5/2), and your games are received in the condition you declared.

How long do I have after I lock in a trade online before I have to ship it?
30 days. Has been recently changed to "Your item(s) must be received within 14 days to get the quoted value".

Can you lock in the price online then trade it in-store?
No.

Is there a limit to how many games I can trade in?
According to BB: "We will not accept more than 3 games of the same title and platform from a customer (or address) in a year. Please do not submit more than the limit as excess submissions WILL NOT BE RETURNED." Example, you can trade 3 copies of Portal 2 for PS3 and 3 copies of Portal 2 for x360 without problems. Some people have been banned from trade-ins at BB due to the violation of this policy. If you plan on trading more than 3 copies of a game per platform by doing it through various stores, you do so at your own risk and discretion.

:bomb: Can I trade game disc only, or do I need the case and manuals, too?
BB used to be strict about complete copies, but this has changed, and ppl are trading games in store without manuals or cover sleeve for full TIV. If you trade online it's sometimes YMMV. I would advise you to send in complete games (case, disc, manual) since some ppl are reporting only getting 50% of the locked TIV.

I see people talking about getting Amazon giftcards by trading at Best Buy. How are they doing that?
Some Best Buys sell Kindle giftcards which can be used on Amazon.com like regular Amazon giftcards. You will not get the Kindle card with your trade, but you can buy them with your BB giftcard.

When I do a in-store trade, I am asked: to be fingerprinted, to have my photo taken, how much I weigh, etc. What's the deal?
Pawn shop laws regulating trade-ins and resale of used goods varies from state to state or city to city. It is not Best Buy's rule, and varies from store to store depending on where you live.

I went to a store to do a trade-in and they asked for a Best Buy receipt. WTF?
According to BB's own FAQ:
Q: Is trade-in limited to items I bought at Best Buy?
A: No.
I don't know why this happens, but apparently some stores do not have their system setup to take non-BB purchased items at this time. Check the link above regarding stores that do video games trade-ins first.

Thats a good question,as i'm new to preordering games.Is there a cutoff date like if i wanted to preorder Dead Island even though it comes out next week ?I would only do it if i were to trade in some games at BB.
 
so far none of the BB would PM Madden to TRU's $45 price. I could return the Madden but I have too many from flipping and I dont want to return all of them. I could trade them right back and lose $15 as a cost of "doing business", but do you guys think the price will come down within 45 days so I can PM later?

I just can't see this being worth it, but you guys seem to be able to pull it off. I had enough trouble yesterday with 9 complete current-gen games. It still took way too long to get it done. I had one "Not For Resale" game (DJ Hero for Wii) and that caused enough of a problem (they eventually took it).

Plus, when I went in to my local GS they didn't have a single PS2 game - said they already got rid of all of them and won't carry them any more. WTF!?

I believe Saturday is last day for in-store but online u can do it until the day before release.
 
Tonight I traded in my legit copy of Halo Reach since I got that free Reach disc to try out the new format for Microsoft. Neither of the girls at CS knew how to get me the 40% (I wanted to preorder SF64 3D). They had to contact the guy back in gaming and get him to come up front. He read off the SKU to her and had to point out which boxes to check on the screen, etc. Took longer than I wanted, but oh well, got $22.40. Got some Shopkick points while visiting as well-- highly recommend that app if you visit BB a lot and have a smartphone. I have gotten $10 in BB gift certificates so far. :)
 
wow lucky day. went and got 3 child of eden and a bulletstorm to keep. went out and came back after doing some chores and traded all 3 w madden bonus for 67.50. woot. free game and 20 bucks. also did some other flips good stuff. ordered 3 la noires for 72, flipped 2 for 60. good times ;)

Interesting. Someone posted on the CoE thread that Best Buy is not allowing the trade in of that game. Then again, the value of it might go down tomorrow.

From what i was told today you can no longer get the 50% trade in bonus with Madden because the game has been released. It would only apply to an actual pre-order which ended on Mon.
 
you can still get the 50% if you purchase the game. That's what I had to do in order to get mine
And I also had it PM for $45
 
Wow I was so pleased with my 28 ps2 games I just traded, 52 for the day until I saw your haul. I've made so much this week with BB -> BBV flips I'm feeling a little guilty. Maybe 1 more run of PS2 games to the BB I hate in Costa Mesa tomorrow, just to stick it to the store.

Just got the 50% bonus tonight (Friday), it is supposed to end on Saturday 9/3.
 
I tried to sign up for the $14.99 @gamer magazine subscription today and they couldn't do it. The employees and manager tried to look up the sku, look it up on the website, and look it up on the touchscreen pre-order kiosk. They couldn't do it at all.

Does anyone have any advice to help me sign up for a subscription in store? (I want the hunted/brink coupon).

It probably doesn't show up in their system now because they are going through the process of setting up that premium gamers club stuff. Anyway, if anyone here knows the SKU for the 12 month subscription of @gamer, I'd be very very very appreciative to know what it is.

I thought that is what was posted in the thread. The guy that rang up my trades was persistent to the fact that it was only if i actually purchased Madden, and not towards the trades. Guess i should have pressed the issue. I didn't want Madden anyways but, the fact that he cost me $4.75 in trade value is my principle issue lol!

When I was trading in my games there yesterday there was a guy who was trading in his FNC and purchasing Madden 12. I told him about the 50% bonus so he got $25 with his FNC. Then also told him that TRU is selling Madden 12 for $45 so I told him about it and I asked the guy who was still doing my trade-ins to PM which he did with no problems. He just had to get a GM to override it or something.
But yeah I had to buy Madden 12. They said I couldn't pre-order because Madden was already out...:roll:

So, I am new to the bestbuy trading side, and its 4 am and i lost alot of money at the casino today. So I am going to post some questions that may easily be findable, however, I was hoping someone in the know-how could answer them for me.

1) So today, Saturday 9/3 can I go in, purchase madden, AND get the 50% TIV bump?

2) If % increase of above works, does it work for one game, or for all trade ins? I have about 15 wii games and 40 ps3 games I wanna dump as well as a MGS psp and games for that. I really wanna get back into pc gaming so I am gonna start selling my games. If I trade in to amazon its about 700 dollars worth of stuff, I am guessing amazon prices may be better, however, the 50% bump would probably push BB TIV higher than amazon.



on a side note, I would love to get rid of these games for cash, but I just don't have the patience in seling games 2 at a time. If anyone is interested in a huge lot...let me know.

You can buy Madden then return it unopened after you get the bonus

The % applies to all games you trade in that one transaction.

Like others have said, you can get it on a Visa card for a small fee and it will be just as good.
 
why thank you fine sir. I should get a shit ton of money tomorrow than. I would love to trade-in my psp console, but the TIV at amazon is 100 for it!!!!
 
So earlier today I went in to return my madden preorder and the first thing the guy did was ask whether or not I traded in games. He then spent 20 minutes asking people and calling corporate to see if I was allowed to "double dip" in his words. At the end of it all, he said I wasn't allowed to return the preorder because I had received bonus credit from the trade-in.

I'm wondering if I should bother going in and trying to return it again.
 
One last question, this TRU to BB madden pricematch. Are they matching the value of the figurine you get for free from TRU? Because that's all I see in potential matches on a pricematch, and BB matching a figurine seems odd to me.
 
thats insane. it's your property. what ev. for all they know you are taking a loss and the game could only be max a few days used. crazy

So sorry for flooding, but we are here to help eachother. After scavenging the net I found the pricematch was for a pre-order on TRU or what not, however, the flyer does not show this price anymore at TRU.

Does anyone have a copy/scan of the flyer with madden for 45? It would be greatly appreciated, I have nothing to offer, other than thanks and some good karma coming your way.

They don't match bundles so I'd highly doubt they title match the figurine as well.
 
Ugh Madden was so terrible this year I traded it back in already! It wasn't that it was THAT bad so much as now with these changed animations it feels like instead of FIXING long time problems they just covered them up with forced animations in certain circumstances. Good thing is I got it for $45 and got $42 for it, so that coupled with the extra % I got when I bought it still brings me out on top.

He said ok, brought over the manager and that was that.
 
Wow. First time had some good service (besides LP eyeballing me)

The employee gave me the 50% bump and said i could preorder Madden when I was ready.

I traded x2 Guitar hero WoR, Guitar Hero 5, NBA Jam, Splatterhouse, x2 Star Wars Force 2, MvC3, and 12 PS2 games.

I never played Madden before. What is the best Madden game on the PS2? Gamestop gave me a Madden limited/collector edition of 2005.Was thinking of trying out a Madden game.

Now, what to do with all of these cases?

yeah they tend to do that but they are just butt hurt we are using their own policy to our advantage

You could always sell/trade them on the game case buy/sell/trade list in the master trade list forum.;)

You should try to sell some of the stuff on Amazon or ebay. Some of the games you have listed (Heavy Rain, Uncharted 1 & 2, Killzone 2, and other first party PS3 games) could get you anywhere from $15 and up.
 
Good day bestbuy. I ended up trading it ALL in (minus psp system, wii system, and prime trilogy obviously).

Got the 50% and Madden. Not into football (I like a much tougher and faster sport- I'm talking about hockey obviously). But wtv, I will keep the game since the only games I kept on my ps3 were socom4, mass effect 2, and oblivion (steelbook).

Best part of the story is the bestbuy employees were the best I ever had. Got lucky and talked with the games mgr, and since I finished college and have no job I figured I'd ask her about job openings, boom! Think i may have landed something. Anyways, I got alot more than I thought, best buy has some exceptional trade in values. Honestly not much less than I could have gotten cash. It saves me alot of time, and from a shit ton of lowballers.

What degree do u have?
 
Got 750 on the dot.

My degree is Communications, with the option on that being film and media.

Now i have alot of bills to pay...so I am going to look into the prepaid visas and see if you can make payments that way, or get the visa and get back on that pc gaming! I've been away for like 6 years.

That's quite good. Breaking it up and sell it on craigslist would have taken way too much time and might not even get that much.

My trade in experience at bestbuy was good this week, except for the part where it takes me 20 times for my finger print to go through. Dude let me get 50% extra for pre-ordering a game that's not Madden.
 
Traded in 40 games today, mostly old 360 games that have been collecting dust on my shelf.

Got a cute employee to talk to, a GC w/ $280 on it (then flipped for amazon) and the best part of it is that I didn't even have to buy Madden. She just gave me the 50%.

Told me some interesting story about the most games traded in at once was. I think she said it was 215 or something like that.
