CAG PS3 Fighting Game Matchmaking Thread - Injustice out NAO!

haha, if that's how you feel, it's ok, I know I can come off as unfriendly but I pretty much help whenever I think I can (if you were looked at a few "fightstick threads")

and how do you know my playstyle? you've played me two rounds and you already think i "play the character"

i think i'm playing just fine, I'm rolling through ranked 86-14 =]

Man, I really need to learn marvel. I'm just doing some scrubby shit and doing my crap combos.

Option, I saw your video on Shoryuken front page. It was cool.

I also need to learn how to do assist combos I always seem to call them too early or too late. AGH!

Finally got all the character endings (took me forever cause of couple of repeats). Getting that event mode for 10 win streak is tricky (thought I got it, but my event option was still set on 5 win streak...grr). Also, I cannot believe that one combo that all Amaretsu players I've encountered spam only consists of -> H H H H... (learned it from playing her on arcade).

I'm currently trying to get 320 missions completed for the trophy, any tips for pad players? Can I connect my keyboard (some reason I think it will be easier pulling off some combos)? So far I'm breaking the combos up, but whenever I try to combine it I screw up on timing (sometimes really frustrating when I miss the last input).

Does any one have any good suggestions for matchups between ryu against spammer? Ryu doesn't have an air dash and his spinning kicks are punishable and the only viable options open is when I have hyper meter (even hyper's gets countered by Doom's hidden missile assist). Lately, I've been just adding Doom to out spam spammers.

So do you guys get lag when playing online? It seems every match I play is really bad. I also set it to my own region hoping that would have good connection, but it doesn't :(
I know its not my connection because I can play MVC2, SSFIV, or blazblue without any lag. Strange.

Im not trying to play with fire option just trying to works towards a less severe beating lol but yeah im aware of her crack arm and hopefully ill be fireproof next time ;)

I agree with J-cart its good to practice in training mode but don't worry about it we all get better at a different pace. Just look at me I still suck too so don't feel too bad about it :)

Assist combos are cool, but I feel that you'll really learn how to use assists once you practice things like pressing 2 atks + assist; down + assist, up; or down + assist, down-forward, forward + atk. Basically pressing assists at the same time you do everything else. You'll find that great assists can cover your loop holes in offense easily and improve your approach.

Against missile spammers, all I can say is stick with that Doom Beam assist, and keep fireballing looking for a hyper conversion. Ryu's fireballs do really good damage for a projectile, but giving him some beam backup makes it that much better.

As for combos, just keep practicing until you are sick of it and are extremely familiar with every part of the combo. That's honestly how I learned my Tron stuff. Now if I can learn the rest of my team, haha.

It's not just you. The MvC3 netcode is beyond horrible. Even with all the varying connections and regions, there's a concensus that the online is ass.

gg again optioniv....as before excellent tron. That doom assist tron cross up was too hard to block against. Last time I played you your combos took off almost all my health in one go...now it seems if I ever do get caught in it I'm dead.

Anyone else want to play (well not today)? I think my level of play is in between beginner and intermediate (probably closer to beginner). I usually main Ryu - Hulk - Tron, but currently trying to switch to Wesker - Ryu - Chun Li. PSN name dejeckt

great games dejeckt. Yeah, I'm trying to pick and choose my points of attack, because often I'd get caught up in stuff whenever I just went all out.

pbnate88, check out the op (1st post), there's a link to the MvC3 thread where you can put your info and look up other CAGs to play.

edit: good games jman, i ate way too much plasma.

ggs pbnate88 u should know that sent and hulk are really slow so they are punished easily. Im not saying drop them but just be more careful but I don't blame you. Im pretty reckless with my hulk lol

Played some MVC3 with Option IV. He has learned the game and gotten even better and I've stayed the same. In other words he beat my ass and left me for dead. If you get hit by Tron with just one move that combo follows and it is deadly. Pretty impressive though. Since the online isn't that great and your still able to do all of that.

Its because MVC3 is extremely generous as far as timing to combo, especially compared to SSF4. Im just ok at SSF4 but im doing really well in MVC3 because i can do all the cool stuff without having precision perfect input ability, my brain knows what it wants as far as moves on screen, but my hands arent fast enough to input everything properly for SSF4. Marvel is easily doable. Loving it.

Marvel execution is just "different". Compared to SFIV, the reversal timing is not as generous. Marvel is definitely faster paced. No easy mode shortcuts. No negative edge. There are no plinks in this game, so one has to rely on double tapping (or turbo/mashing). The reason why it seems easier is because most moves cancel into each other (i.e. Hunter, Marvel series, etc.). However, there are things like Spencer and his one frame link(s). Overall the combo system feels way more open-ended than any other type of fighting game. Also, Marvel online is ass.

Sure, MMHS online is possible... But, trying to get 4 reps of Magneto's air H xx dash, M, H online is nigh impossible.

You can do the Online Events in Player Matches. So my advice is to find a boosting partner.

I'm throwing my hat into the ring here with...

Marvel vs Capcom 2
Soul Calibur 4
Marvel vs Capcom 3

I have a headset and a Dualshock 3 for use if that matters. I'm somehow better at MvC3 with a DS than my TE. Go figure.

This is exactly why I dropped Magneto when I wanted to use him. Only way I can play with others is online and well... it sucks.

lol thanks, i love sent for the easy combos which worked for the first game, I know no one elses moves.

who are yall using for your three? I want to try more combos

That is a preposterous list. Also the original comment with the list was already deleted.

Maybe I should hold out for Super MvC3 though?

I believe the person behind the rumor is lupinko. he was apparently right about a lot of stuff before MvC3 came out.

And it's capcom... I better start saving up for Super as well...

I wonder how they went about deciding that list if it is true. I mean aside from megaman I'm not too interested character wise but I hope they have cool moves. I don't know why but I want to see how they make doc oc and pheonix wright play.

First amaterasu and now hulk :hot:. Now Im sure this is purely coincidental but im not sure im loving the fact that your last two videos have featured characters on my team being destroyed. I think I might have to switch out hulk after this lol.

J-cart play me and we'll avoid him together lol ;)

Anyone that thought that combo was an april fools joke. Trust me its not :(. ggs option. sry it was short. I just wanted a few matches before I needed to get going.

Good games f bomb. Btw, I just got WWE All Stars after Esper recommended it. Would anyone be interested in me putting up a list for that game. It's actually pretty fun, though there is a learning curve. Everything isn't plainly laid out. It plays very similarly to the n64 games though.

I still want it,but I'm gonna wait on it to drop in price. I read it didn't have a online pass. I assumed it would since Smackdown VS Raw 2011 did. Kind of shocked it doesn't.

Can't trust dem ninjas.

Anyways, MvC3 is kinda broken all around. Who knows, maybe Capcom has already given up. Maybe they'll nerf Tron too. Oh well...

Maybe after the Phoenix nerf.

Can anyone help me with display lag? I'm not really good at fighting games so I'm not heavily invested in display lag (logic is that my response time is much greater than display lag), but I would still like to know how much display lag my tv has. I play my PS3 on Panasonic TH-50PZ85U on normal and I have no real good way of measuring the display lag (unless DJ Hero has a HDTV lag calibration test...gonna check when I go home).
above
rock band 2 does but that is still not a true way to do it

what people have is a computer outputting to a lag-free monitor and the display you want to test (Panasonic TH-50PZ85U), then they take a picture with a camera and the difference in times of a running clock that shows milliseconds would be your "display lag"

you need a camera with a fast shutter speed, video card with two outputs.

googling your tv model gives me
http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-th50pz81b-review-20080729123.htm
and
http://www.avforums.com/forums/plas...50-lcd-panasonic-viera-th-50pz85u-plasma.html

also looks like your tv has a "game mode" that lowers display lag

as for the display lag, ~17ms is 1 frame, which is playable. when you're coming up to 2-3 frames of display lag which adds to input lag if there is any, then it gets iffy.

Thanks for the links, I saw the avforum link but missed the hdtvtest link. To be honest I'm not sure how to set in game mode (i guess its just picture setting) but I figure that one out eventually.

Thanks, I was going nuts trying to figure out lag by using dj hero 2.

I'll bite. I've only gotten to try Evil Ryu in the arcades. Didn't help that the other guy was playing for realz.

If the pricing is similar to MvC3 DLC, then all four characters would be $20? Not understanding the idea behind this, but if you just released the AE as a DLC for $15, I think everyone would buy it.

DLC it's worse than car buying.

I was guessing it might be 20. I still want it even if it is.

It is just now we might be given the option of buying or not buying the characters. Meaning the twins and the baddies would be pay dlc characters.

I am still hoping they make this a Hyper version, which gives everyone the option to pick the best version of our character. Sagat plays get Vanilla, Fei Long players would play SSF4AE, etc. Just limit the ultra's to their respective version. So Vanilla Bison only has ultra 1, but it's okay I love me some st. hk.

Great games F bomb and ANTLP. It felt good to bust out the ol' SSFIV again. Though I felt a little rusty. Can't wait for that AE. It's almost as if I totally forgot about MvC3.

From the depths of California I LAFF AT THEE. GOD TIER SAGAT will NEVER AGAIN return. Until Street Fighter 5. Or whenever Ono feels the need to troll us.
