I wonder if they'll still take the belt off Punk when Morrison comes back.
Is it just me, or have all the ECW title changes been the result of hitting the panic button? Back when RVD got in trouble with drugs they dumped it off on the Big Show and he kept it for a good long time... maybe Punk could be so lucky... I mean, I certainly don't want them to Cena him and make him completely invincible, but I don't want him to just be the guy who held the belt for 30 days until the champ isn't suspended anymore either.

Getting the belt off Big Show wasn't a "panic button" thing, the injuries that led to his retirement have been building for years. Neither was Lashley being stripped of the title because he moved to RAW.

I think the only two "oh shit, what now?!" title changes were RVD losing it and the John Morrison win b/c Benoit was busy being crazy at home.
That match led to permanent brain damage for Foley without question - just because they 'take a match to a new level' doesn't mean they should be used. Unprotected ones should be completely eliminated, and at most, protected ones should be used very infrequently.
Agreed. You want to see chair shots being used effectively, but not to the head? Go back and check out Hogan and Earthquake's match at Summerslam. Hogan rails Quake with a chair (yes, Hogan was the face) repeatedly in the back leaving huge welts on Quake's back, but certainly causing no permanent damage. Still had the same effect for me as a viewer as it would've had Hogan hit him in the head. Then again, Hogan knew how to work everything better than the Rock could've in his wet dreams.

Speaking of Hogan...

private funeral was held for former WWE and WCW star Brian Adams on 8/22 in Tampa, FL. Several wrestlers attended including Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Randy Savage, The Nasty Boys and Jeff Jarrett. Adams was just 44 years old when he passed away on 8/13.

Now that would've been interesting to see Hogan and Savage at the same place. Pity Savage has been blacklisted from WWE, as he participated in many of the greatest matches of all-time, headlined several WM's, was one of the best on the mic, and for my money was the one of the best all-around wrestlers ever.

Savage's eulogy:

"Brian Adams was a good mayun... and Hulk Hogan, Triple H, I'm talkin' to you..."

Finally got a chance to watch Punk/Morrison, match was quite good. For the first time in a long time (i.e. first time that I noticed), it seemed like Morrison was actually into a match, and not just going through the motions. He has proven he was a great athlete before, but in this match he showed me that he may actually be able to be a good wrestler. The hot crowd helped, but seeing as the match was taped, I can't help but wonder how much of that was "canned heat."

I would imagine both would have enough class not to start anything.

Would have loved to see Savage drop an elbow from the top of the casket.
That split legged corkscrew moonsault was fucking nice.
I hope he doesn't start doing it on every show.

PPV only would be fine. I could see him botching it and ending his career quick.

I meant that the move would lose its effectiveness. He should only bust it out when he absolutely needs to. Sorry sometimes I think I'm unclear.

The chairshots in that match were the most vile I'd seen when I first watched that match in '92 - the welts on 'Quake's back are still tough to look at. Sporadic, thanks for that info, I haven't read Rock's book, so it's good to know that he did actually check up on Mick.

Edit - Here's a shot of the end result of Boosman's chairshots to 'Quake's back after the Hogan match.

Wasn't there a scene in Beyond the Mat where they were talking together after that match? I've not watched it in a while, but I'm fairly positive there was.

I'd hope so, although (as we all know) Savage did cut a rap album of songs dedicated to how much he hates Hogan.

Those were pretty bad, but certainly not like a chair shot to the head. That match was horrible though, err rather the ending was. Hogan's no-sell at the end makes Cena look like The Brooklyn Brawler. And damn, that Quake was a great big-man worker.

I haven't been following WWE lately but I read awhile back that one of my favorite wrestlers D'lo Brown has been appearing in dark matchs.

Any word on his progression?

Wow. Triple H could be McMahon's illegitimate son. I think the fans already know that him and Steph have a child together so they might as well just scrap the entire thing before it gets started.

I guess really didn't give up on wanting to push that incest angle.
so, I couldn't help but notice the poll attached to the article. Steven Richards has nearly a quarter of all the votes. He's got more than HHH. Did I miss something somewhere?

It's the only explanation to why he's still on the payroll after all of these years.

Oh SHI-

Yea, and when they announce the son as Steven Richards, rather than the crowd yelling "What?!?" everytime Vince talks, they'll yell "Who?!?"

Now, that's just uncalled for sir.

At least that would be mildly amusing.
Hey Myke. Did Cabana get the TV belt on TV.... wait a minute. Nevermind. Either way, congrats Colt!
Not unless you spoiled tomorrow's TV show for me. GAH! ;)

I have to thank mykevermin for loading OVW because I have actually dedicated more time to watching it on my computer then acutally watching WWE or TNA on television. For some reason OVW seems to be more entertaing to me because they have a lot more wrestling going on in the hour they have then TNA and WWE just hasn't been worth watching to me for a long time now.

Happy to be of service. I wish I had started capping earlier this year, when the Cody Runnels/Shawn Spears feud was in full force. Feud of the year for me in any promotion.

Also, Mike Kruel was far better when he wasn't all over the show, and I feel he's a bit too much right now.

I think the look and presentation of the show is a nice hybrid of modern pro-wrestling storytelling and 80's style southern wrestling-in-front-of-three-rows-of-old-women-in-a-warehouse promotions (Mid-South, USWA, World Class, etc)
Not unless you spoiled tomorrow's TV show for me. GAH! ;)
I'm sorry bro.

Read about it on the ROH boards and assumed that the show had already aired.

Saturdays at 1PM EST.

It was expected to happen soon, anyway. Colt has had almost as many chances at the TV title as Punk had against Morrison. Besides, titles are tossed around in OVW like Randy Orton shits in bags.

On the Mexican radio station here, they play a commercial for a hair restoration clinic, Chavo Guerrero is mentioned as being a customer.

I just seen his hair on Smackdown, and It looks good!

Larry Zbysko supposedly has had the same treatment done as well, although I haven't seen him yet.

KING: Tell me about the diary.

BENOIT: Well, the diary -- we found the diary after the fact. It was actually a neighbor of theirs that retrieved it from the trash. And this is a diary that he wrote over a period of about 10 days back in 2005, shortly after the death of his best friend in the wrestling business, Eddie Guerrero. After I read it -- it was very, very disturbing to me and I thought...

KING: Because?

BENOIT: The way he was writing it. There was a lot of...

KING: Was he depressed?

BENOIT: He seemed extremely depressed. And it's -- it was almost like he was sitting there talking to Eddie. And a lot of quotes out of the bible, which was out of character for Chris. KING: So we come to the conclusion that he snapped.

Wow, that's extremely fucked up.
No one has said anything at all about Impact.. how sad. The last match was actually pretty good. :]
whats the creepy little bastard up to these days?
For those who care, I've been asked by PWG to remove my videos from YouTube. Sorry, guys.
shame 'bout that. Are they shooting for an ROH-style business model?

Abyss? He's well.. kids just entered school. Thinking about refinancing the house. Anniversary coming up. :)

I was watching the Saints and Colts and I forgot all about Impact.

Just got myself a section 3 row E seat 1 ticket for Cyber Sunday, woot! One question though, do all of the PPVs have the collectible chairs, and how close do you have to be to get one? Would be awesome if I am able to get one of those.

Aww, crap. Bad news. They're relaying last week's OVW right now. Chet the Jet has all his hair - yup, it's a rerun.

They play OVW twice per weekend, so hopefully the replay this evening (around 1AM) will be this week's program. I'll let you know if anything changes.
