Demon's Souls - Atlus & From Software's Action RPG - October 6

yeah world 4 is my favorite, and IMO its the easiest.

3 is the hardest for me, I dunno why. 3-2 has the hardest boss IMO (and I think for others too).

World 5 is one of the ugliest levels I've seen in a game. I understand they wanted a murky disgusting type of environment but cmon...am I in Turok again with this shitty fog?

Ah anyone had this happen in co-op when you lay down your blue stone:
Home-boy on a throne of chairs wrapped my head in a yellow cloth and turned me into a red soul...came out looking like a yellow-tornado-headed freakazoid. Anyhow, target died somewhere in the level and I win.

I just died on 5-2 twice. Time to call it a night.

I'm getting a little annoyed at people invading my game though. It happened like 3 times in the past hour. And, they were no challenge whatsoever. I poison cloud them and then dodge until their dead with the occasional soul arrow.

Does anybody else here play almost only cooperatively? So far when I start a new level I'll summon 2 allies, die right away from a trap or something stupid, assist 5 or 6 people as a blue phantom until we beat the boss, then summon allies again once I'm in body form and go through the level easily.

I've only played 1-1, 1-2, and 4-1 so far.
I could probably have beaten 1-2 by myself except for maybe those blue knights at the end but 4-1 would have been a bitch all alone. Having two or three people attacking those hyper skeletons and those red eyed samurais makes it so much easier.

Also do you guys think it's completely necessary to have a ranged weapon?
I might be answering my own question here but it was just so much easier going through 4-1 when my allies could shoot down those flying manta rays, skeleton archers, and samurais from a distance.
I've just been using my sword so far but I have soul arrow and a composite short bow. Since I don't really feel like upgrading my magic based stats I was just thinking about getting better with the bow.

EDIT:
Also one last question. In new game+ etc will you only get matched up with people on the same run through as you or is it only based on your level?

Don't know about hte last question.

I've played a little cooperatively. It is neat.

A ranged weapon is a definite imo. You can find
a compound long bow in 4-1
. Go with that if you don't want to build your magic up. I have upgraded my compound long bow up to about +3 sticky bow I think. It is very strong and makes for a nice long range weapon. It has a lot of distance, much further than magic.

And to Blader16, personally, no. But I couldn't tell you one game off the top that is harder than this. There have been elements of other games I've found tougher and more frustrating. The beginning of DS is by far the most dangerous, to me. You will still die a lot, but I know I am not AS cautious as I once was. Being able to survive getting hit at least once helps a lot...
How many arrows should I pack to kill the dragon in 1-2? Also, are miracle spells worth investing in for a jack-of-all trades type character?
If nothing else, get Warding. It will change your life in the game.
Man, I just invaded someone, and it was awesome. I didn't actually fight anyone, but it was awesome none-the-less, haha.

Came into his world on 2-1, and started looking for him. He summoned someone to help him, so I wasn't about to go 2v1. The tension knowing he could be around the corner, and when I actually caught up and could hear them fighting was amazing. But, the phantom he summoned to help looked pretty beefy, so I left the world after watching them from a ways away for a couple minutes.
I hate pussies like that who just summon other people because they're so afraid of a fair fight. Chances are, I could rape the shit out of three people anyways. To date I've killed roughly ten invaders 1v1 and never lost a fight. Of course, I'm SL 150 now though. ;)
Been grinding the crap out of souls in 4-2 killing the reaper with Arrows then returning to the nexus at level 73 now.
Wait 'til you get the spell soul thirst. :)
Yeah. I am doing 4-2 now. You can get a ton of souls here. I just lost, lost 45000 souls. All gained on that level.
Ouch, but that's like a drop in the bucket for me on NG+. Using soul thirst and ring of avarice, I get ~16k souls per minute. I just drop down on top of the reaper, do a landing roll and (since I have a dragon sword +5) destroy him. Loot the corpse, run upstairs and suicide off the ledge. By doing this, you can avoid an extra loading screen plus your souls will be just waiting for you to collect them in the hallway as you run back down to the reaper. I ground out about a million souls yesterday in an hour and a half.

I'm about to start my NG+2 and I can't wait to see how much more he'll drop now. I might just grind up my willpower so I can use soulsucker on him instead for even more souls.

Ranged weapon, no. You can use the thief's ring to solo pull enemies with proximity. I've played through the game twice now doing only this.

Also, you're matched based on level only.

The only reason to invade is to win and be revived right? Your resurrection is the only 'reward', correct? That's all I seemed to have gotten.

So no one put down their blue stone and got
summoned by some demon guy that gave you a yellow weird tornado carnival hat and made you an invader? Saw lots of this on youtube when I was deciding if the game seemed alright in action.

That means you got summoned to be the boss in another players level 3. That has happened to others.

I think you can also get some souls if you invade. It's mainly to be a PKer and a jerk thought. That's right, I'm looking at you, Jodou!

Anyone else that bought from Amazon get some sort of Code? I just got an E-mail for some armor in some game called Neo Steam wraith something?

If anyone wants it, PM me.

:shock::shock:

:whee::whee::whee:

I'ma go check my email right now.

EDIT - Nevermind then, I thought it was some kind of Demon's Souls armor. Carry on.
Invading is actually a very good way to help shift tendency to black if you slay the other player.
According to the guide, it doesn't effect world tendency, only character tendency.

Nice, I need to go pure black soon. You can farm close to 150k souls in just minutes on 4-2 using soul sucker on the black phantoms that appear there. If RaidenTR invades your game, you're about to get fucked up. ;)
where can i farm shards of spiderstone?

i cant find any!
i mean splinters.

tried the baddies on 2-2 in the right tunnel, but to no avail.
killed a bunch of crystal geckos in 2-2...still didnt get any.

wtf?

The more I see from this game, the more I like it...But I won't know if it's worth $60. I have no idea how frustrating it's difficulty is until I play it myself. I'll wait until there's a $30 price drop before picking this one up.
Beat 5-2. 5-3 is a bit of a bitch though. I just need to beat 1-3, 1-4, 3-2, 3-3, and 5-3 now.
5-3 is a breeze if you use a large sword and light armor. Only strike when he has no chance to recover and just bait his attacks by rolling backward. I did this naked last night on NG+ and he never hit me once lol. Just make sure you keep his focus on killing you and he'll never attempt to heal.

Just waiting for the ECA site to get more amazon codes and i'll pick this up. Considering most places are sold out and it's published by Atlus, there's a very good chance this could be hard too find soon :(

I'm a pure mage. My strength and endurance are the same as what they were when I started. I'm only able to hit him for about 16 at a time with my sword. I got him down to a sliver and he healed all the way. And then, I got cocky/aggressive and he knocked me into the pit where I got the plague and died before I could find the way out.

Ha damn, that's a bitch because he's wearing full Dark Silver (i.e. anti-magic armor). The shield he drops can absorb 100% of magic damage into stamina as well as adding a magic def bonus, so I'm not sure how that factors into the fight.

Well, I was trying to ping him with soul arrow whenever he moved the shield to swing, and it was only doing like 8-9 damage at a time.

hm that could be a very tough fight for you Chibi.

Might want to try attacking the girl herself, instead of him. She may heal though so be ready, but I can't think of any other way to get rid of him.
What I need is to summon some phantoms to do the work for me. Who wants to do it?
Haha, can you summon players way above your SL? I can drop him easy for you.

Probably not.

Also, killing NPCs is made easy by poison cloud. I killed Yurt by casting poison cloud twice, and he didn't attack me. He just stood there slowly dying. He has 642HP apparently.

By the way, I just got the Friend's Ring from Pure White Character Tendency. Apparently to get the Rogue's Gold Trophy (obtain all rings), you have to have Pure Black Character Tendency and do the Mephistopheles quest. This could take a long time to go from Pure White to Pure Black (maybe 1 or 2 more playthroughs).

Anyone want to trade rings just to get this trophy? Just make sure you only need one more ring to get this trophy, I have all except the Foe's Ring. We could work out a place to lay blue stones that no one will think to look for.

PM me or lemme know in this thread, thanks!

I thought tendency went from -100 to 100 and invading a players world and killing him will drop your character tendency by 40, so do that 5 times and you go from pure white to pure black. I could be wrong though.

problem is i'm about to start new game plus, where its a lot harder. pure black CT decreases your HP by about 10% or something, and it's really hard to get tendency back to white.

I see the pictures but how do I know if I am 100% pure white?

Nevermind I checked the wiki.

ugh. I've died a bunch of times on 4-1 on pure accident by the ledges. It doesn't help that the manta rays keep harassing me, and I can't reliably shoot them down.

if you have demonbrand or soulbrand you can check how much +dmg is added. if you have demonbrand and you have pure white CT, you should have +130/+110

a bow and L1 to aim... its 90 hit points and easily killed with 1 arrow. The crossbows cant aim like a bow can.

I too backed off a ledge afterI killed the black samuari I meant to hit L1 to come out of aim and out of habit it O (used to back out in almost all xmb, etc) I jumped back and off the ledge. I was pissed.

Man, I couldn't play last night because I had work to catch up on. Now I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms ;).

So, I started using the "Perfect Run Walkthrough" in the guide last time I was playing. I may have started just a bit too late as I didn't commit suicide in Stonefang tunnel after a couple of the bosses though (at first I was trying for pure white so I committed suicide only in the Nexus). I hope this doesn't hose me up for both the black AND white events...

Is anyone else following along with that?

Does the meat cleaver fall into that category?

I think the reason they tell you that is to save you some stones of ephemeral eyes. You're only committing suicide in Stonefang (in body form) to get the world to BT, then you'll kill a BP, Primeval Demon, and a Boss all in one go to get it to Pure white WT.

You could probably just use a stone of ephemeral eyes if you forgot to suicide there a few times, but make sure you follow the guide in terms of what bosses to do and when.

I'm going to attempt the perfect walkthrough I think on my second go. Maybe. I'll just have to see what stuff I NEED to obtain then, that's the biggest thing for me.

Yeah, I figured I'd just do it now since I was already doing most of the prep stuff anyway (getting the winged spear, purple flame shield, etc). I just missed a few of the suicide opportunities I guess. I figure I'll get as much as a I can done this time and the clean up on the second playthrough.

Yeah I did a lot of the stuff in the walkthrough, and I only have to do Pure Black CT events and World 1 and 3 White Tendency Events.

I can't believe I died twice to the adjudicator. The guy was a joke. Also, the adjudicator shield is pretty awesome. haven't decided if its better than the purple flame shield or not though.
