Fye Trade 4 Get One Is Back!!!

Went in to fye today and they said that the dealk is back on through the 30th of october .Good olso for ps2 gameqube 360,psp.and dvds.let me know if you were able to get them to do it becouse some stores are saying yes and some stores are saying no.But I did see the flyers.the employees are really ill informed about everything,so if they sayno call coorperate and ask.could be ymmv,Good luck!

I had some clarification from an employee at my one local FYE the other day. They said the trade deal limits the final value of the 'free' game to $39.99.

And, I remember seeing it on some sort of flyer they had out as well, so be prepared to possibly get told 'you owe us $$$ for that copy of (insert $49.99 and higher priced game name here).

If this DOES work and they say I can pre-order, I'm grabbing a copy of Bully for Xbox on pre-order or Scarface if I can't pre-order.

Either way, I'm keeping my receipt for the games I bought from Kmart to trade for this deal(this was the only way I figured I wouldn't get the 'the games are too scratched up bs from the eb/gs games). Although, I do admit to being sickened by some of the conditions of some of the games I bought from EB/GS in the past.

But, I won't get into my rant about how it looks like some people use their games as coasters or play frisbee with them over rough pavement, then trade them to eb/gs.

damn i asked them to look up the deal and they said it is not on the current promotion. Is there a flyer or something?
 
i just got back from fye and they have the absolute worst selection I have ever seen for PS2/Xbox. I wanted to trade in 12 ps2 games and hopefully get Tales of the Abyss, Devil Summoner and Okami. They didn't have anything that's been released in the past year. It was the equivalent of looking in gamestop's $9.99 and under bin. I asked the cashier if I could get $50 store credit instead of a game for every 4 I trade in, and she said sure. Then when she's finished scanning all 12 games, she offers me $10 in store credit. I ask her about the $50 store credit for every 4 that she just agreed to and she says "No you have to pick a game out". I said forget it and left. Their employees are so clueless.

They do have new Xbox 360 games though, so I'll try my luck again when Splinter Cell: Double Agent comes out.

They can't. It says so right in the store instruction sheet. You'd only get away with this if they aren't doing the deal properly, although most aren't.
fye is well known for selling items at prices above standard MSRP, so $89.99 for Guitar Hero isn't too farfetched to me.

It's done to encourage people to buy the Backstage Pass program to get 10% off all purchases. Kind of a sneaky way to force people to buy things at normal price but acting like it's a deal.

The FYE clerks told me their "preorder" system doesn't work well with video games. The number of games sent to a store is predetermined (usually zero for many titles), and preorders don't affect this quantity at all. They told me that they've had many customers preorder games that never arrive in the actual store.

It is, chances are they didn't see the page (it's in a packet of store alerts and promotions, it's easy to miss) or they didn't look it up at all. Many stores didn't receive banners or promotional materials to advertise the sale either. If you're at the actual store, ask them to see a list of all the store promotions since you're sure other stores in the area are doing it.

She probably misunderstood what you meant initially. I don't think this is fair anyway since the deal says nothing about giving $50 store credit just because they don't have a game you want. Additionally, most of the old banners say the deal is limited to $40 games anyway.

Ok went today

traded
Thug2, Music Maker, Starksy and Hutch and another game for MK:Armagedon

They are really picky about scratches but they were really nice also. The deal DID NOT work for original xbox and was only for 39.99 or lower. She said if i wanted to get a game that cost more id only have to pay the difference.

Also penny game got rejected, Primal'd :(


They had Yakuza Scarface VP2 KH2 and some other games i want but im almost positive no games from EB would pass the test. Also buying games and then paying the difference hurts the deal on those.

Ill try the one near my school as well since YMMV
 
This deal is not happening in the Burlington VT area. Checked Umall, Downtown and Coconuts and all of them acted like I had three heads, like the deal was unheard of. They all are doing a Trade 4 DVD's for 1. (Free DVD under $26.99)
 
FYE is doing a very poor job of educating their employees about this deal. Someone please post the number of their corporate office so we can get this fixed on Monday.

I have Super Mario Sunshine, Bloody Roar Primal Fury, Animal Crossing, and Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 and 2. Would "Roy" let me trade in these 4 Gamecube games for Fifa 07 on PS2?

I think I'm going to head over to the Gamestop in Merrick and pick up Madden 06 and Ridge Racer 6 used, get them both 20% off with the Edge Card (10% off) and Gameinformer coupon (10% off) then trade them in for NBA 2k7 on 360.

Great plan, it may be worth a go, I only see one potential snag, according to the female manager (Who called Roy, and then the DM. and made it seem as if their understanding of this deal is shaky...) they won't take a game that they already have, so like I said good luck, and keep me posted...

If it is the gamecube version of Phantasy Star Online Ep. 1 and 2 you might want to just sell that as that is worth decent money.
 
Went to FYE in Tacoma Mall...The employee chick said the promo has already ended...I told her i called someone on Friday & said that the promo was a go...Well it just ended yesterday, that's what she said...I was like whatever...Then i asked if they had any new PS2 games...She was like all our games are new...(They had a whole bunch of "used" games) yeah just pick a game you like & bring it to the counter & ill get the game for you...WTF? Since when are open games considered new & not to mention the cases were all messed up...

I went to another FYE in Capital Mall in Olympia, they don't sell games there...

I dunno, assuming you use cheap EB games, 4x$3.00=$12+$10 difference=$22 plus tax, is still a hell of a deal for a $50 game everywhere else (even better than TRU's B2G1 deal), especially on recently released games like Yakuza and VP2 that won't be hitting GH any time soon.

You'd be surprised which games don't ring up as a penny. I traded in several 2k3 sports games that rang up for more than $5, I was literally in shock. Stay away from Madden though, Madden 2004 rang up as a penny. If they reject a game, GS/EB has the policy they'll let you return a used game for ANY reason and at any store. If the games don't work, just walk over and return them for some different ones.

I was told it's going until Nov. 1, which if your FYE actually has good games in stock, is a much better deal than TRU's.
 
Well, that sucks that Bully was cancelled for Xbox as I play my Xbox most anymore. And, with my prior problems with PS2 systems, is it any wonder why(2 w/video problems, one that scratched discs)?

I'm going to go and check out the flyer for the trade 4 deal tomorrow to see if it mention specifically about it NOT being for XBox 1. If that's the case, then my local Kmart is getting back their games.
 
I was able to pick up NBA 2K7 for PGR3 and Burnout Legends. The clerk said that there was a $49.99 cap on the deal though and I'd have to pay the difference. Their backstage pass cannot be used for the deal either.

I found out after the fact that the deal cap for 360 games was supposed to be $44.99 with the customer paying the difference.

Edit: expires Nov. 1 at the Orem, UT store.

My store in Greenville, SC (recently opened) has no idea about this deal and supposedly called a store in Virginia which told them that the deal ended already. WTF!?!?

Especially wish the 2-for-1 deal for 360 games worked here.
 
I have Antigrav that comes with the camera. Can i just trade the game in without the camera? the problem is that the game only doesnt have the UPC barcode on it. the barcode is on the Box instead of on the game case.
 
Just got back from scoring a copy of Okami in exchange for Chessmaster, Q-Ball Billiards, Shark Tale, and Hulk (the crappy movie game, not UD). Has anyone swapped in an uglier list of games than that?

I can see what people mean by how YMMV this is. I dealt with 3 employees, a guy and two girls, and each one had different ideas about what was acceptable for trade, what restrictions there were, if preorders were OK, etc. Also, each one that I dealt with got progressively less nice about it, and as one girl was ringing them up for me, another one (the manager, I'd guess) seemed less than thrilled about the deal and I thought for a second she was going to give me a hard time about it or stop the transaction altogether.

I'm hoping I can do this again after Marvel Ultimate Alliance comes out, but if not, I'm thrilled to at least get Okami this way. Much thanks to the OP.

I vote this thread for deal of the year. This is my haul today trading 4 for 1 new at FYE. Total cost out of pocket ~$110

Madden 07 (w/ $10 rebate from FYE)
Lego Star Wars II (w/ $10 rebate from FYE)
Scarface Collector's Edition (w/ $20 rebate from FYE)
Okami
Yakuza

Traded in 20 PS2 games (~1/2 were sport games), that I picked up at GS/EB costing about $65. Paid $30 difference on Yakuza and Scarface. About $15 in taxes for all 5.

Average cost per game - $14 after rebates.

Also found a mint copy of Shadow Hearts at EB while looking for cheapo ($1.5-$3) trade ins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a hard time getting a store to accept a game only Antigrav. The only Antigrav that came up in their system was the one with the camera. One store finally took it, but the guy could have been clueless or just not cared and accepted it under the w/camera upc. So I guess this may be YMMV.

I had good luck with this sale, although it took some effort. I ended up getting:

Pusuit Force
Shadow Hearts: New World
DS Lite (Onyx) - got this for $34 worth of games!
 
Oh snap, just noticed something on my rebates. Lego Star Wars II also has the $10 rebate from FYE and I'm allowed to submit it even though I did the trade 4 used get 1 new deal.

Theoretically, it's possible to get Lego Star Wars II for almost free then since you can def 4 find games at EB/GS for less than $10. So drop about $10 at EB/GS for trade fodder.

Then get your LSW II at FYE and the $10 rebate. Submit and wait ~2 months to get your $10 back that you dropped at GS/EB. If you don't mind waiting and the rebate goes through you just got a game for pretty close to free. I've had 100% success on about 6 rebates from FYE but I've read about people not getting them back.

Huge YMMV on this due to diff FYE's being more selective on what games they take in. Just keep your receipt from GS/EB and return it if your game gets rejected by FYE and pick up a diff one.
 
Wow i didnt think crappy EB $2 games would work...im gonna spend the afternoon doing this tomorrow since the FYE is about 30 feet away from the EB in the mall (perfect if they dont take something back its going immediately back to EB...since my brother already has this game haha)

so I get there with my 12 EB/Gamestop games (cases and discs thorougly cleaned, instruction manuals in great condition), the associate guy is checking them, gets to like the 11th game, and then the manager comes out of the back room and asks what's going on, hesitates for a few seconds, then asks if I was 18....

that is some serious manager-created bullshit right there

why do I need to be 18 to trade in some freaking video games?

at least the people at my local EB are full supportive in my quest to screw over fye, so they've been more than helpful

That totally sucks if you try to keep your game in mint condition. I have $10 rebate form from Dead Rising, $20 rebate form from Scarface but I don't want to cut the UPC off those game covers. :(

i think you can use the price sticker - at least i just sent that in with one of my rebates. If they complain, ill send the real one ( dvd not a game )

You have to be 18 to open a trade account at EB/GS here but you can trade in games if you're under 18 once your parents open the account for you. They're not that strict on it, there are just some (local) pawn shop laws that don't allow minors to trade stuff in to cut down on shoplifting. They are also supposed to take your drivers license number down if they don't already have it on file here.
 
Does anyone know if FYE will take a Greatest Hits in this deal? I have a few I wouldn't mind getting rid of. Also, I was denied the games Eye Toy w/ Camera and Kya. Strange considering that someone posted Q-Bal, Shark Tale and Chessmaster were ok. Anyone have any other good cheep games that were accepted.

I traded in NBA Inside Drive 2004 for Xbox,
Along with the practically untradable GTA:SA
NHL 2K5

But then again this was before the manager knew that regular Xbox wasn't included... :applause:

So if you end up buying some bargain used games from eb and they don't work for the trade-in at FYE, can you still return them back to ebgames?
