Don't waste your time at the Montebello CA store, fucking ass hats working there tonight.

Me and a friend go in with the intention of picking up at the very least SCDA...and there just happened to be two copies left. So as we walk up to the counter, the clerk "NICK" says "I hope you guys aren't trading in the same exact games..." I already knew I was in for a dog fight with this guy. He takes about 10 minutes to figure out what the hell he is doing, and finally says..."oh the deal is only valid for 360 games that are 49.99. I ask him to show me some proof--a print out, a sign ANYTHING, and i'd walk away with no questions asked. Of course, he couldn't come up with anything.

I was pissed at this point, knowing this tool was just acting out so I asked him if he knew who Nick Puccini was...and informed "Nick" that he was the Director of store sales for Transworld. I asked for his contact and store information so I could give Nick a call and let him know what a fine job he was doing at this particular location.

What a fucking joke...he offers to have me pay the ten buck difference on SCDA, I told him to shove it, and I knew he was making shit up as he went along--because before I got there my buddy was talking to him about the deals and he was fine with everything until the very end!
the deal is YMMV

Chicago CAGs - it sounds like the district manager may have halted all video game trade-ins at my three closest stores (Woodfield Mall, Stratford Square Mall, and Spring Hill Mall.) Since the deal had restarted, I was told by all three stores that yes they are participating in this deal. I was told this, and was able to trade-in stuff, this week.

Well, tonight I visited Stratford Square and was told they were no longer taking ANY video game trade ins - part of this deal or no. They will still take DVDs, but no games. The manager wasn't quite sure what was going on, so he called Spring Hill, and they said the district manager sent an email Friday morning telling the stores in his district to not take ANY video game trades.

I asked for more information, if it was only for a short time, etc and he couldn't give me any more information. His best guess was that they had too many games... Too many games?!? WTF?! The store I was in had maybe 6 used 360 games. And to top it off, I finally found out why they had no copies of any of the new 360 games I wanted. The computer says they've got them, and have had them, but they must be missing, cause they couldn't find them physically in the store. This after being told for weeks that they couldn't even find it in the computer system...

interesting sale, this is.

I was at one FYE where i traded in 8 games to Get VP2 and FIght night round 3 for the PS2.

I go to another one to get FN round 3 (XB) for my brother with 4 xbox games. The mgr says the sale was ended. I said i just called your store (which I did) and the person said till the 30th (forgot to get the name, argh!) .

so, as a courtesy to me, he said they'll take two of the games, not four, and give me fight night round 3. so i'm just gonna return the other 2 games to GS and technically, I just paid $4.50 to get Fight night round 3. SCORE!

This blows. My manager has the deal (with the PS2, Gamecube, etc.), but won't budge on letting regular Xbox into the deal.

Newark, CA FYE in the Newark Mall was awesome. The only restrictions are:
(1) No penny games
(2) No Xbox games
(3) You have to pay the tax on the game you're getting

So I brought in a bunch of games I got for $3-4 clearance and walked out with Scarface and Destroy All Humans 2. Then, I decided to head to the Gamestop in the mall and grab College Hoops and Madden 06 for 360 and got God of War for free (as part of B2G1). I went back and traded both 360 games to get SC:DA for 360. :)

Then, I tried a bit further. Got some sports titles at the Gamestop using the B2G1. Using one more of my clearance PS2 games and the three sports titles, I got Kingdom Hearts 2. So, as far as I know, the 2005 sports titles will work at Newark, CA location.

Damn you guys in Newark, CA! You're taking all the good PS2 games. I went in there Friday, and the only thing that I could find which was worth getting was Scarface (not even a LE edition).

Oh well, I just got it, so I can return in later and get Lego Star Wars II or Bully, or something new and good. :D

Traded College Hoops 2k6 and NHL 2k6 for Tiger Woods 07 at Robinson Mall (PA) FYE. The register even printed out a $10 rebate for me, so if I get $10 back from a free game it'll be even better.

i got Valkyrie Profile 2 by trading in 3 2004 sports games, and a 2.99 EB Game.

Tried to get Bully with some other EB cheap-os, but theyd only take 3 of the 5 i had (too scratched), so ill try again latter.

Great deal!!!
Traded in for Bully (PS2) at the San Bruno, CA store

Viewtiful Joe (PS2)
Virtua Fighter 4 (PS2)
Twisted Metal Black (PS2)
Grand Theft Auto 3 (PS2)

Some (mostly common sense) tips:
- Call in advance
- Bring additional games in case one or two of your games aren't accepted
- Be nice to your salesperson ;-)

Any San Antonio CAGs have any luck this time around? Ingram did it last time but they didn't have any signage as of mid-week and I've never been to the La Cantera store.

I went to the one in Concord, New Hampshire today, and after about ten minutes of them trying to figure out the deal, I get told that it's 4 PS2 for 1, which I knew and 2 xbox 360 for 1, but the new PS2 games had to be $40.00 and under while Xbox 360 games had to be $30.00 and under. So I go and take a look at the PS2 section and see nothing new, besides some new sports games. So I just go up and say "Sorry to do this, but I just didn't see anything." So I get my games back and go across the hall and trade it in at EB.

So if you're in New Hampshire and don't mind their pitiful selection of games, they're taking ALL games, no exceptions.
while Xbox 360 games had to be $30.00 and under.
At that point I would've told them that they are just pulling shit out of their ass. $30 360 game at FYE? No such thing.

They didn't though, and they where really, really nice. There was two workers, a girl (who at first thought it was 2 PS2 games for 1) and a dude. The dude said the 360 games have to be under $30 and said he did a deal earlier and that was what he thought it was, and he said to me, "Although that doesn't make much sense at all, let me call *insert something here I couldn't understand*" So he calls like ten different places and I guess they say to use the $30 Xbox 360 thing, but they didn't give him a price on PS2. So the girl said, "So I guess $39.99 on PS2 then" pulling things out of her butt, but that was fine with me as I was going in to get God Hand, Bully, Yakuza and something else. Just sucks they had absolutely no good games.

how is the selection of games at the San Bruno store?

For any Dallas CAGs at the galleria mall they told me that its 4 xbox, ps2, or gc games for 1 but you only get $34.99 in credit for the 4 games or 2 xbox 360 games for $34.99 credit towards a xbox360 game.

I had a hell of a time doing this deal at the Wilson, NC FYE. I brought in 12 games, a mix of PS2 and XB. The guy working was going to take 8 of them, refusing 4 because of EB stickers(???). Then his manager comes over and doesn't want to take the XB games, calls a DM, then says they can take XB games but that I couldn't mix platforms. I ended up only being able to trade in 4, though I was able to get a $50 game out of it.

I think that all the 2007 EA sports titles get that rebate.

i just tried this at the one in newpark mall in newark. traded in 2 xbox 360 games to get saints row. for anyone else planning on going there the rules for my particular transaction are as follows :

the games that you trade in get credit for the amount they sell the games for (i traded in nhl 2k6 and madden 06, which got me 19.99 and 29.99 credit)

that credit goes toward the game you chose and you have to pay the difference. saint's row is 59.99 so i had to pay an extra 15.26 to cover the rest and tax. pretty crappy deal. im not sure if its ymmv with different employees so i might try again some other day. not too many games to choose from either.

:hot::hot::hot::hot::hot: HOLY CANOLIES :hot::hot::hot::hot::hot::hot:

You won't believe what I traded in.

NFL 2k5 xbox - Bought for $5 a couple years ago. Trade in value of $2
NFL Fever 2003 for Xbox - Bought for 99cents as free shipping filler. Trade in value of $1
Dropship for PS2 - Bought for $6 three years ago. Trade in value of $1
Zone of Enders for PS2 - Bought for $6 three years ago. Trade in value of $1

Received Splinter Cell DA for the 360!!!

And I've got about 12 more games of that calaber that we went through to check to see if they're valid. Going to think about what I'm going to get and trade them in later this week. Supposedly the sale is good until the 31st.

This is so sweet.
how is the selection of games at the San Bruno store?
Sorry, I was in a hurry so I didn't get to look around in detail. The game I was going for was Okami which neither San Bruno or Serramonte had. I wasn't interested in Bully but got that since I knew I could easily sell it on Ebay for full price.. which I already did.

Anybody get this to work in NJ? The FYE in Freehold told me they would not accept the games I had because they had them in stock. I was trying to trade in a couple of last years sports titles for 360. One was COllege hoops and I looked and they did not even have any out. So I dont know if they are pulling shit out of there ass or not. What are the restrictions to this sale anyway?

I'm reporting for Freeport, NY on Long Island.

They have all new release DS and 360 games and most PS2 games. No Okami or Bully though, Valykrie Profile 2 and all the 07 sports games are there though.

I traded in Kameo, NHL 2k6, Madden 06, NBA 2k6, NBA Live 06, and College Hoops 2k6. Everything had case and manual and the only real cosmetic problem was a decent sized scratch with Kameo which I saw the guy tried to rub off with his shirt but he rung it up anyway. I bought all 6 of them yesterday at Gamestop for a total of $74, buy 2 get 1 used, 10% off with the Edge Card, and 10% off with the GAMEINFORMER coupon.

I got Saint's Row, NBA 2k7, and Splinter Cell Double Agent. He charged me tax though so it came out to 15 at FYE.

$89 for Saints, NBA, and SC DA, deal of the year IMO.

I see so many people getting this to work. It kills me my FYE won't except certain games. Anything I can do to get them to accept?

My local FYE's do not accept trades, since they do not havea pawn license yet. So I travel to another another county, no extra miles. I managed to trade in Ridge Racer 6 and PGR3 for Splinter Cell DA. They only had about 20 360 games in stock. I had to dig deep to find that game. Also, they rejected 3 of my games I bought at EB. The guy was going to take them, but he showed to his coworker. And she said they had to be in new condition. I am going to try again on Monday or Wednesday. I want to get Dead Rising with the rebate!! Is King Kong and PDZ:LE for Dead Rising worth it? Can you trade in 4 PS2 games for a 360 game? Or is that very YMMY.

So i went to another FYE to try my luck.

SCORE!
The games that one wouldnt accept because they were all scratched up ( bought from EB 10 mins before walking in FYE) were accepted at the 2nd FYE. Why? Because they didn't even open the cases to check that they were inside.

Got

FF : Dirge of C
Suikoden V
Revelations miniseries( from trade 4 dvds)

I went to a Strawberries today and was told the promo ended on Thursday for games, but the trade 4 dvd for 1 promo is still going. I visted 2 other Strawberries stores and an fye a couple of days ago and received comments along the lines of "we aren't doing that or it expired".

This sale is so YMMV it hurts and I just don't care to argue with fye anymore.

I went to Coconuts tonight and traded in PD0 and Kameo. (Purchased for $15.00 each at the CompUSA sale) and they allowed me to apply it toward Phantasy Star Universe for the Xbox 360. Just had to pay for tax. Thanks!

Louisville, KY - Mall St. Matthew's

No go. They were clueless, even called a manager at home. Still nada. The only thing they were aware of was the one from a month or so back.

Experienced tha same thing earlier today as they only give you credit for the trade in value. The Madeen 2006 and other 2 2K6 sports titles pulled in about $19 a piece and Condemened was 29.99 (selling for $20 at Fry's this weekend).

The amount of cash out of pocket was a little over $15 which I expected for tax from the deal. I'm not going to open the games and just trade them back for "high wants" in November.

It's not a YMMV deal as you just need to ask them to open the book and look for the current promotions. Simple as that.

Has anyone been to the Pleasanton store in Stoneridge Mall? Hopefully the selection is better as I'm looking to trade the games I picked up on this trip.
The FYE at the Irvine Spectrum (CA) is cleared out in terms of quality games to trade for.
What was the best thing left?

This deal actually is YMMV. I went to my local FYE and the manager told me that they've taken in to many used games and they aren't selling so they have stopped the promotion. She said she has the discretion to do that. I could say she's wrong but that won't do shit. She won't take my games, period. There is a sign right in the store listing the promotion and she says she won't do it. No win situation.

Steer clear of the store at Oakland Mall in Troy, MI. It has an absurd policy that trade-ins will only be accepted from 4:30 PM to 6 PM weekdays. Also, the clerk was very rude.
The store at Somerset Collection knows the deal, and I managed to get Family Guy for Xbox for 4 PS2 games.

Finally tried this out today, I brought in a whole bunch of PS2 and Xbox games, most of them they wont take, saying they are "under $2 games"... but I did have four that made it:

PS2: Lord of the Ring Two Towers (they mistakenly traded it as the movie!)
PS2: THUG
PS2: Duel Masters
Xbox: Hunter

all these costed me about $15 originally, which I got PS2 Bully!!! Pretty sweet!!!

Thank you OP and CAG!!! :bouncy:

EDIT: BTW, this is the Montebello CA store. Other than Bully (last one), I also found Destroy All Humans 2, and a used copy of Steambot... I decided I don't care to get those games so anyone interested better go soon! I hide them behind some games on the far left of the PS2 section (middle row). Good luck!

If you can get them to offer the deal, great. I did everything I can think of and they will not offer the deal.

ok so thats how they are doing the deal over here then. now i just need to find which games get the most credit and are the cheapest at eb/gs. what were the 2 2k6 games you traded in so i could avoid them when i go pick up some more games to trade in? did you only get 19.99 for madden? when i traded it in i got 29.99 for it. its selling for 14.99 at gs so i think its pretty good trade fodder.

would anyone know if they mind that i trade it multiple copies of a particular game? i'd do it on different days of course.

I had luck trading in tomb raider legend and top spin 2 for 360 for Splinter cell double agent and nba live 06 and t woods 06 for t woods 07 360.

then I traded in downhill domination, haven, champions of norrath and midaway arcade treasures for ps2 bully! I was pretty happy with the deal!

Madden 06 for the 360 gives you $29.99 credit at FYE while the 2K6 sports games (College Hoops 2K6 and NHL 2K6) only 19.99. Looks like I'll be picking up another Madden for the trade-in and staying clear of the 2K games.

There was nothing worth picking up at the FYE in NewPark Mall so I just grabbed Saint's Row and Tiger Woods 07 to take back to exchange within 30 days. Good games are less than a month away so this should make for some valuable credit.

i was looking to get splinter cell as well, but they didn't have any. there was 1 copy of saints row left after i grabbed one.

Ugh. I've been to that one, and I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for the heads up man.

There's still one location where I might have success with this deal, but so far I have had nothing but horrible experiences. Every single FYE employee I've spoken with so far didn't know anything about the deal, but they have all managed to know every restriction in the book(and then some). Today I go to another store with 12 games and they turn away all but 4 due to either "fingerprints" or scratches which could only be seen under certain lighting and angles. And, of course, they insisted that platforms can't be mixed, so I end up not being able to do the deal at all this time.

I got their DM's number, gave him a call and got nowhere. He wanted to know where I got "all these games" to trade in and seemed angry that I was trying to "take advantage" of the promotion. If you live in eastern NC you might as well forget about this.

did this three times in Winston-Salem NC this weekend. Bought 6 cheap 360 games at EB downstairs for around $60 total and traded them all in on Fri/Sat.

Traded in three copies of Madden 06, two ridge racers and one College Hoops 2k6.

Got NHL 2K6, Battlefield 2 and Tiger 07 w/ $10 Rebate!

WOO-HOO!!

Ugh, damn FYE and their poor game selection. Sold out Saints Row and Splinter Cell. Saw 10 billion copies of Maddn 06 though. Looks like I was too late =(
