Finally finishing up gears of war 2 and I have #3 sitting in my queue waiting anxiously. Should I run through the All Fronts DLC before starting #3? How does the single player in GoW3 stand up vs #1 and #2?
The Campaign to 3 is above ground, which is important. 1 and 2 were underground for a decent portion, so 3 feels distinctly different. It's not just the outfit changes, the vibrant colors and the 4 player co-op, it just feels...non-Gears-esque. It's decent, but different. Fortunately, if you like the older play of Gears of War and 2, Raam's Shadow goes back to that play style.
The All Fronts pack is great for the maps for Horde. Really, Horde is my favorite mode to play. If you try it and like it, definitely pick up the maps for 2 to play through the now classic style of Horde. I know 100XP was looking to get some Gears of War 2 achievements, and I still have my copy if you need help in Horde mode. It's much better when you play with other people, and it makes it a lot more exciting when you play the higher difficulties of it with a team.

I still need to do Beast on all the maps as well. As far as the ribbons I'm missing go, I am just missing the ones that involve multiple people (Two in Beast with Kantus and 1 in Horde for reviving everyone.) The last one is Trick Shot. Maybe I will try and knock it out soon.
I'll definitely help you with the Beast maps and the ribbons if you need it. The Horde revive one is especially easy to do with the friendly fire mutator. You just need 4 other players. I still have 2 controllers, so if I'm on and you need help I can be a 2nd and 3rd player.
Also, for Trick Shot, I actually got that from playing Casual bots, as they tend to run in single file formation. If you can get a flat map with a clear view for a Torque Bow shot (or just change the weapon swaps), you can pull it off that way.
Or just have two players stand in line and fire off a shot that way. Either one.
