Say wha? Some english VAs are better than their japanese counterparts in some fighters. Perfect example of this is JPN vs ENG Guile's VA in SFIV. At least SFIV has the option to select which VA you want for each char. ^_^
 
Hope's not so bad. It seems like the Voice Actor was trying to break out of the stereotypical role he was written for.

I like his interactions with lighting, because she's so no-nonsense and that rubs off on him a little.

Exactly. Dood, you nailed it as that is when I really started to like hope as well. He really starts to mature, and isn't the same as in the first part of the game.

Agreed. Also, Yakuza 1 had the best English VAs. Something I miss in Yakuza 2 and 3. Gems like. . .

Lol everyone says this and I have yet to notice it. XD I'm glad I don't notice it, as it would annoy me. I stare more at her then listen to what she is saying anyway.
 
I'm still early in the game, but I don't really connect too well with any of the characters yet. Hope seems annoyingly emo, Vainlle is just annoying. Lightning needs to get whatever's stuck up her ass out, and Snow is just obnoxious. Sazh tho...The chocobo-hiding-in-the-hair, and some of his dialog makes me think Sazh might be playing for the other team, yanowatimean?

I need more time with the game before I solidify any opinions, however. These are just my first impressions.
 
I wish you guys marked those spoilers as "heavy spoilers." Now that I know those characters' names, I feel like the whole story is spoiled.


I also wish they had some fucking audio volume options. like a slider for footsteps and another to turn up the music. the former are way too loud and the latter is way too soft.

I feel excited for GoW3 now more than ever! I found out my GS is having a midnight release and they told me that if I don't come to it I'm most likely going to miss out on the preorder bonuses, which is pretty much forcing me to go, I really want that skin code. Also, I've got all the skins now except for the Forgotten Warrior! If only I had a GC nearby....

@Nero, while I have nothing against Japanese dub (its always great), I usually prefer listening to the text so I don't have to read it (even if voiceacting is bad). The only game I used Japanese voices instead of English voices was for Brave Story, but that was just for battle. Story sequences, I always stick to English for ATLUS, NIS, etc. stuff. The main reason I'm leaning towards Sakura Wars on Wii is that my Wii is hooked up to my living room TV (getting a good amount of attention), while PS2 is hooked up to my smaller bedroom TV (and I normally don't play PS2 anymore). I don't care for extras unless I get a soundtrack.

He annoyed me a bit at first with the lame jokes, and while I admit he doesn't always have the best dialogue; I think he's okay. He's pretty useful in battle, and YOU know his Chocobo is full of fucking win. Anyone that can rock one in their hair has major SSSkilz. Also wait, you're saying that

I got randomly PM'd by a guy last night after my post in the deals forum about the Russian Special edition of GoW3 getting all the skins and ended up buying the Apollo skin off of him for a $5 Amazon giftcard, the Dominus skin a friend is giving to me when he picks up his UE because he already won a Dominus skin through some contest, he says it's payback for all the games that he's borrowed from me and never returned.

I'm happy with that, because really, it's like trading Fable 2 and Extreme Beach Volleyball 2 for the Dominus skin. And my amazing fiancee is chugging slurpees so I can get the Morpheus armor!

So now I just need the Forgotten Warrior and I've got them all.

What's ya'lls favorite skins out of the bunch? Mine is probably the Morpheus and Forgotten Warrior skins. I remember seeing the blue Kratos concept in the GoW1 character graveyard and thought he was just super badass looking and have been wanting to play him since. The Forgotten Warrior comes in close second because ever since the first time I saw it (GoW1, I think? May actually be GoW2..) I just imagined how cool it would've been to have Kratos look like that. They should really make another game around that skin and create a new character out of him.

I hope they add the other concept art from GoW1 as skins, too. I would really like to play the female Kratos and the hulking Kratos that had a baby strapped to his back.

Yes, and while it does make my DOA collection incomplete I can get it again for less than $10, I can't really say the same for the Dominus armor.

I may pick it up tomorrow when I get Pokemon.

I supposed you could fake the codes, but I emailed them legitimately.
Each code they give you is worth 2 points.

So the horrible printing on the cups is a normal thing? My girl was having trouble reading them, too. She's given me three so far and gotten all the codes wrong and I've had to get by with guessing.

That sounds awesome about the arena! If it is co-op I've gotta play with some of you guys if you're down for it!

I didn't think so. I thought it was like the Challenge of the Gods or Challenge of the Titans in 1 and 2.

You can get more than one code for a set of armor, right? Like if I got 20 slurpee points, I could get two download tokens for the morpheus armor?

Yep!

There's one guy I know that has 12 of them (he works at 7-11 so he just texts the codes that come off the cups to slurpee rewards whenever it's slow).

That's what I thoguht about the Arena. I was expecting a series of challenges. It would be pretty cool if it was kind of like Horde or Firefight, though.

Yeah, that was the reason I never finished it. I worked through a good bit of the game but there came a point where I just couldn't stand it anymore and just quit. I tend to do the same with GTA games.
