Guitar Hero II - General Disscusion - Indie Pack #2 - 3 Songs Up Now
Actually, Red Lottery is the worst song ever.
Agreed! I literally fell asleep playing it once.
I think I got my 300,000 on Monkey Wrench on Hard.
Good to know - I can definitely 5 star that one. I started on Medium and I've noticed that Message In A Bottle is the only song that gets me over 200,000 so I was a little concerned - I've gotten 5 stars or perfects on every song so far and I'm in the 6th group. I never paid attention to score on the PS2 version because without the leaderboards what's the point?
Why am I having so much trouble on Woman on hard...WHYYYYY!!!??
Because the bridge about 67% of the way through is insane. So far that song has given me the most trouble - I only played it on Hard on the PS2 version though... I'll be trying it on the 360 tonight, tomorrow or the weekend... basically whenever I finish 5-starring Medium.

The worst part is if I go into quick play I can do later songs on hard...blehhh

Same here. Now I have to actually use star power at the appropriate time to maximize my score. Honestly, I didn't think the leaderboards would be that cool, but I'm constantly checking my score against others...
I'm not, since the results are depressing. Even just against my friends list.
Same here...it doesn't help one of my roommates is a beast at this...he's well on his way to beating it on expert :whistle2:/
The worst part is if I go into quick play I can do later songs on hard...blehhh
I know exactly what you mean... on the PS2 version "Woman" was in the first tier of songs and it took me like 15 tries to get past it after practicing the bridge and everything - once I beat it though I powered all the way through to Freya (in like the 5th or 6th group of songs) before I got stuck again and had to practice (playing on Hard).

I've been checking my scores on the leaderboards constantly... it is depressing but it also gives me something to shoot for an incentive to get better at it which too many games these days lack. The #1 guy on the career leaderboard already got 5 stars on every song in Expert. People are just sick.

In June I'm going to the wedding of the lead singer of Freezepop's brother, so everyone buy their song, it's pretty good
In June I'm going to the wedding of the lead singer of Freezepop's brother, so everyone buy their song, it's pretty good
I was just going to ask, what of the buyable songs are worthwhile? I've got more than enough game to wrestle with in the normal songs for now, and will probably unlock all of them at some point, but should their be a priority to it?

If you want the 10 point achievement just buy them all! I don't think there is any sort of priority though...

Try having one of your friends be #1 overall (at least he was on Tuesday night). He beat it on expert the first day, and I haven't even opened up all of the playlists on easy. I suck.

My favorites off the top of my head are Jordan, Thunderhorse, Gemini, Arterial Black, Raw Dog, Less Talk More Rokk
I've been playing for..sheesh, over 9 years now. I used a pick quite a bit when I first got GH1, but I quickly realized it was slowly killing my strum bar. It was tearing the finish off of it and making it squeak like crazy. I find it easier to hold it between your fingers as if it were a pick.
Me too.
I couldn't even imagine trying to play this with a pick.

Broke down and have one waiting for instore pickup after work tonight. Never played this game, but my girlfriend used to mess around with a guitar so at least I know she'll have love it.

Mr. Fix It is really good.

Some of you guys need to record some of the new songs and put them on youtube. I like watching GH videos on youtube for some reason.

I need my fix, won't have this game for another week (vacation)

Another vote for Freezepop

I got my copy yesterday from RedOctane. Its the first time I have ever played any of the Guitar Hero games. I stayed up playing all night, its really addictive. It was a lot more fun that I had anticipated. I was playing on easy and some of the songs were still going quite fast. I tried playing on medium initially but I need more practice before I start doing the chords.

I've beaten Medium, and have yet to fail a song that I've tried doing it that way. When I leapfrog and head to a higher difficulty before I'm ready things get messy, fast.

yeah, you can lose time really really fast playing this. I'm always thinking I'll stop after the next song and it usually takes about 6 or 7 from that point to when I actually quit - each song probably averages about 5 minutes to play soooo.... yeah, I was up WAY past my bedtime last night.

Same here. I wanted to end the other day at 5 p.m. so I could watch the Sonics' game on tv, but it was halftime before I finally turned GH II off to watch it. No regrets.

Picked it up yesterday and really enjoying this even though I got one of the controllers w/ the broken whammy/strum key. Mine is one of the ones with the phone jack on the bottom instead on next to the headset port.

Didn't someone say that this goes away after a few hours of use to break it in? I'd prefer to try that instead of returning it to GameCrazy and hoping they might get some more in stock in the next month.

That happens to me EVERY time I play this.
I hope they release DLC soon. We need more metal.
Probably not so much for the people that are new to GHII, but us who have alrewady played the hell out of it on PS2, yea we could use some DLC.
Here is a noob question.

Why do some songs say "as made famous by" and some say "as performed by"?
"as made famous by" are covers

"as performed" are the original recordings.
Here is a noob question.

some are actual master tracks done by the artists themselves, a la performed by "xxx" But most songs in the game are covers, done by other people. SO those songs where made famous by "xxx" its just not them actually performing them.
Here is a noob question.

as made famous by, are not the real groups performing them. the performed by songs are the actual bands songs.

Is there a better way to strum that wont rape my thumb (fuck I hate when things rhyme like that). My thumb is killing me from all the playing.
Finally got the Eddie Van Halen Award (500 note streak) achievement, going to call it day.
500!?!?!?! That's the scariest thing I've read all day today. Doubt I will ever get that achievement seeing as how my max number of notes without messing up was around 180.

You will get it eventually with practice. There have to be a few 500 note songs in the medium levels and after a few weeks of playing you will be acing those no problem. The 1,000 in a row achievement is going to be the tough one - I'm not sure there are any medium songs with that many notes and getting 100% on any hard song will be a real challenge!

I played Monkey Wrench on Hard to get it. I had a ~650 streak though.

The entire song has 1037 notes in it and I think the best I've done is 1027, so if I full combo the song, or at least until the very end, I could possibly get the 1000 note streak achievement.

Just 5* Institutionalized on Hard, I REALLY don't like that song.
play a song, then as soon as it is done look at your wall, I swear to god it is moving.
Yeah I noticed that yesterday, it's killing me eyes.
