Guitar Hero II - General Disscusion - Indie Pack #2 - 3 Songs Up Now
Is it worth getting the original guitar hero for the ps2 if I have the 360 version? I was thinking of buying Guitar Hero used off the local online classifieds.
if you can get a good deal it will still be worth it, supposedly the first wave of downloadable songs are supposed to be some of the better ones from GH1. But it is only supposed to be like 10 songs, so you are missing out on a bunch of songs from GH1. I would suggest picking it up.
graphically it is worst, but it's not about the graphics.
I too would really like to see Cowboys as DLC. I'd like some Monster Magnet and Corrosion of Conformity in there too. Oh, and System of a Down... There is so much potential for DLC with this game.
I would kill babies for some Monster Magnet, preferably "Bummer".

ya I dont care about graphics, it's all about rocking out lol

I'll look at the tracklist from it and see what I think of it

I'm hoping out of the DLC from guitar hero 1 that we get some bark at the moon, fat lip, and killer queen.

Killer queen is still my favorite song across the guitar hero board.
I'm hoping for some modern tracks stuf like KoRn, Metallica, Green Day, Linkin Park...
green day would be good, I would like some linkin park, I don't know how well their music would transition into guitar hero though. I was listening to meteora the other day and none of the songs seemed like they would fit good into guitar hero.

dont count on any big bands landing on the DLC, if they do get some big signing theyll will definitley hold off until GH3.

technically I don't think there will ever be a guitar hero 3.
now what makes you say that?
I assume he's basing on the assumption that Harmonix is now owned by MTV games and is currently working on Rock Star with EA.

However, Activision is handing the Guitar Hero franchise to Neversoft as indicated on their website
I was wondering where you MI CAGs are at. I want to get in on some multiplayer over this weekend. I am near Pontiac if that helps.
Waterford? Shit bro, I'm right near you. Rochester Hills.
I'm in central MI as well. Small town called Albion. It's about midway betwee Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor on I-94.
I actually live pretty close to you.

For those of you with faulty guitars...
We have isolated this issue to two model numbers that can be found on the guitar's packaging. The numbers are 95065 and 95055. We are asking that customers who puchased their items from a retailer perform an exchange with that respective store (for a model number other than the defective two listed above). Customer's who purchased through our online story can complete an rma request for their defective item and we will exchange it for a fully function guitar controller. This weekend is a bitch because I'm going to a movie in the morning and going to see Type O Negative at night. Sunday is a holiday so I figure most people are busy, but if not maybe then. If not maybe next week/weekend or something. I work in Lake Orion so I'm usually out in that direction during the week. Warning, I'm not that good yet.
Awesome, I just started playing through Medium today. I want to get a couple Co-op acheivements. I will PM you my number so we can set something up soon. Well, hopefully we can figure out which one sucks more at GHII. ;)

Damn, just checked and I have a 95055...although it has worked perfectly all day today. I guess I'll wait it out for now and then trade it back in next time I'm up in the area of the CC I purchased it from.

On another note, this is my first experience with the GH series. It's has been a little tough getting used to, but I am now completely hooked! This is one of those games that truly has lived up to all the hype IMO....Can't wait to get better at it though;)

I have a faulty one, I have noticed a few problems, but wasn't sure. I got it through redoctane, so I guess I will check out the return slip and see how it works, but if they want me to send out my guitar first, fuck that. I'm not gonna sit here for a week if not more without my guitar.

Whenever I go through the menus, like friend lists, it would just scroll to the bottom until I pressed up on the strumbar. I was going to just return the guitar but now I have a really good reason to. I too have a defective one.

FYI: Just got the latest OXM and its got 3 free gamerpics for Guitar Hero II, they're decent. One is of A dude, another one of a chick, and the 3rd one of the Rock meter.

EDIT: Here's a low quality pic curtesy of my camera phone:

Mine is 95065, but haven't noticed any problems except star power not registering once in awhile.

If I exchange it, is there anyway to tell from the outside of the box which guitar you're gonna get? I noticed the box says part # 95055.491.US which doesn't match what my guitar says.

edit: Almost forgot, yellow button sticks as well.

I just 5 stared Woman on my first try on medium. I was getting dispointed because up until then I hadn't gotten anything over 4 stars. I am happy again. I guess I am just average since I have completed every song so far with at least 3 stars. I also got my snob award! I rule!

Mine scrolls down as well, I guess I'll take it back to CC next week.

At the bottom of this article, it shows you where the number is on the back of the box:

http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/06/xbox-360-guitar-hero-ii-guitar-problem-and-possible-common-threa/

My box has the 95055 # but the UPC has the 95065 # as is the number my guitar has. So you may want to check the UPC barcode. Mine works pretty good except for the Star Power tilt function being kind of ht or miss.

Anyone playing on a monitor through VGA having any problems? I've got about a half-inch bar all the way around the picture. The live menu comes up fine and fills up the whole top and bottom as normal.

...and Fall of Pangea is hard as fuck.
is there an adapter out there to use your ps2 guitars with the 360?
I tried a PS2 to USB adapter today with no luck. It didn't appear to recognize it at all...

Yea, looks like they didnt optimize this game for VGA, same thing happens to me. I decided to just use component instead, and switch to VGA for DVDs.

I'm playing through VGA on a Samsung DLP set and have that black bar around the top and left edges, but that's all. Irritating, but GH is hardly a game I play for the video style. Still, I wouldn't mind if they would/could patch this issue.

Did Red Octane/Harmonix/Activision ever release the soundtrack on CD? It would be cool to have all of these songs on a CD set.

I've got one of the defective ones as well. I've never really noticed a problem, but I'll let them replace it for me. Just sent an email to the RedOctane store to get it fixed.

I have a 65 as well. I had a couple problems with the whammy bar at first, but I haven't noticed anything lately. I've been popping off 5 stars on medium fairly easily.

where did you get your gamerpic?
anyone else watch the end of the credits?

pretty funny
yeah - good stuff. I be Zumaya and all his teammates laughed their asses off when they saw that.
edit: Almost forgot, yellow button sticks as well.
I also have 95065 and this happens on mine. This is my biggest issue with it. I'll have a nice combo going and the yellow button decides not to go down and I miss the note/combo. Mine also does the friends list scroll down sometimes and ocassionaly I have to tilt the guitar reaaaally far to get star power to work (like another 30 degrees past vertical. I guess I'll return it eventually but since I got it from Red Octane, I'm going to wait another week until I'm ready to take a break from the game.

So, it is possible to tell what model number you're getting before you buy?

Yah.

guitarherobox.jpg

I haven't checked the number but my whammy bar only starts to recognizes input when you push it in about 1/2 way in and star power usually doesn't activate until after I stand it up and bring it back down. It's not that bad IMO but it's not as good as my beat-to-shit PS2 guitars. RMAing it will probably be a huge pain in the ass as well.

My Circuit City got this back in stock today , so I finally got my copy .

And stop the press , my wife wanted to play it .

That never happens .

what advantages or disadvantages does the 360 version have over the PS2 version if you DON'T have xbox live? Does it still have more/better songs or is it just better graphics and future downloadable content?
So do you all use your pinky to hit blue, or do you just slide your hand down?
Most of the time I use my pinky. Whenever I slide my hand down I forget to slide it back up to hit green.
