That was a way to check the version but some people are now saying that the Guitar that's in the box doesn't always match the version number that's on the back, or there are stickers that cover the original version # with a newer one and the Guitar versions don't match.
I'm personally going to wait a few weeks until the defective ones get cleaned out of the retail channels. Hopefully RedOctane does something so we can know which ones are the "fixed" ones.
