I dunno, but just because it looks like an ethernet port, doesn't mean it is. It means the materials for making a connecting cord/accessory are readily available and cheap.

well i played this game for the first time this weekend, and it is offical I am a guitar loser...how the hell do you get 5 star on anything? The best note% I got was 96% doing it on easy...

What are the people with defective guitars supposed to do? I was looking at the guitar hero boxes in the store and they all had the 95055 serial numbers on the box.

Is anybody else having the tilt problem????

I have two guitars ordered direct from red octane with the defective number, but the whammy bars work fine, the only problem I am having is that one of the guitars will go into star power on it own, and the other won't enter star power even if I SHAKE it like crazy.... It REALLY pisses me off, because while I am trying to hit the star power and shaking the hell out of it, I miss notes.
 
Well I just got five stars on all songs on medium, but I still suck at hard. Now it won't let me earn money on medium. Is that how the game is set up? Will I have to play hard now to earn money?

yessir. you only get money if you do better on a song than you've done before. if it's already got five stars, you can't do better, therefor you can't earn money.

just play one song on hard over and over again until you get the hang of it. took me like half an hour to finish my first song on hard, now i've got 2 songs left on expert... you'll get there

I did that fix over the weekend ant it works great. No more whammy bar problems.



And people, it doesn't fucking matter if you get a 95055 or 95056....BOTH guitars have whammy bar problems. That whole story got started because one person who got both guitars on release day noticed his 95055 was having problems while his 95056 was fine. So he and everyone on the entire internet assumed that the 95056's are flawless, which isn't true. They are just as bad as the 95055's.

Sigh...I can't seem to win. After the defective 95055 from BB, my pre-order FINALLY shows up, and it's a 95065, and the whammy SUCKS. I tried to pull the fix, and the screws on the inside are GLUED. No fix. I deal with it by trying to pull it up before every song to 'center' it, and it's fine most of the time.

HOWEVER, now after a bit of standing and playing...I got a static shock from the neck of the guitar...through fucking plastic(?), and now none of the fret buttons will work.

I'm loving this game, but I'm just pissed that I'm having this much trouble with the damn equipment. It's flat out ridiculous. I'm going to have to call Red Octane tomorrow and bitch...

I've been reading about the PS2 guitar, and it doesn't seem like it's had a friggin 1/4 of the problems of the X-plorer. I think this guitar is just built like shit. The BB I got the first one at, while waiting for my late-ass pre-order, said that 75% of the first batch they got has come back in the week it's been out. That's insane...working in the CE industry, I can tell you that Red Octane is going to take a bath on the defective ones...I've got a feeling you're going to see a lot of refurb guitars show up somewhere at some point.

An observation:

I've noticed that this game spins the disc at a lower speed than other games like gears or oblivion, even though it's a constant spin. Just interesting. Less loud.

Does it give you extra points to use the whammy on non-star power lines?

What determines your star rating from a song? Score or notes hit?

Whammy bar just gives you extra star power, and rating depends on the score. www.scorehero.com has all the 5-star minimums you need for each song.

ah man, I was hoping for more than a feeling and franz ferdinand. Has activision and redoctane confirmed that they will be releasing all of the original guitar hero tracklisting?

Okay, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that's had this happen. It was the weirdest damn thing to be standing there and get shocked by/through the neck of the guitar. What the hell's up with that? I think one of my five fret buttons worked after that and the strum bar would only accept strums going up. This actually happened to me twice last night. After the first time, it started working again eventually. Not so much with the second time though. Did it ever start working again for you, Ronin? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

So not only do I have to worry about my whammy bar and tilt not working, but now I have to worry about getting electrocuted by the damn thing.

It's still fixable. I've got the 95065 and had to do the whammy bar fix to it. You just gotta turn real hard to get the screws out. Once they give, they'll start turning easily. Just make sure you keep a needle and pair of tweezers nearby to get the excess glue off the screws so you can screw them back on easily.

It worked again for a bit later...but now it seems, I dunno, touchy? I had to let it sit for a while, then it worked again, but I had to shut everything off and start over...it stopped working again later midway through a song (that I was actually doing good with:bomb:), and I just gave up and went to bed.

I'm going to have to try and scrape off the glue - I was reluctant to do that because I don't want Red Octane to refuse my exchange because they can tell it's been messed with, you know? Even if I adjust it and it works, I'm still exchanging the damn thing.

Edited to add - My guitar is now simply fucked. Only the red button, the start button, and strumming up work. I give up.
