Indiana Deals Thread

For my fellow NW indiana CAGS:

The Movie Gallery Store in Highland (1 block west of Indianapolis BLVD(US 41) on 45th St) has been converted into a liquidation store. EVERYTHING there is buy 2 get 4 FREE. Not much there as far as games, lots of old crappy ones, but TONS of cheap DVDS and VHS.

This store is only open until 11/05 so move quick!

What are some examples of old and crappy and how much do they cost? Might be worth grabbing for trade-in deal fodder for EB/GS if they are for modern consoles. If they're for older consoles, then I'm sure some one here (myself included) probably wants even the crappy games since we're building full sets of every game ever made for certain classic systems.

Unfortunately the games are all normally priced at $16.99, so $34 for 6 isn't as good as it sounds.

And it's all typical movie gallery crap:

Mark Davis Bass Challenge
Gottlieb Pinball
World Championship Poker
stuff like that

And no classic stuff, only a bunch of old PS1 and N64 sports titles.

Anyone in Indianapolis successfully do the Fye trade 4 games in for 1 deal in Indianapolis, and if so, at which location? I know one of the mall stores carried a very small number of games but I didn't see anything worth trading there, I was thinking one of the other stores didn't sell games at all, and I don't think I've ever been to the third store. None of them are anywhere near my house (30-40 minutes away) so I haven't tried my luck yet.

I don't know about Indy, but I haven't had any luck on these trade in deals at the FYE in fort wayne.

The new WalMart on the south side has a bin of Xbox and PS2 games for $19.97 each. Didn't strike me as a really great deal, but maybe if you were looking to get one of these games anyway.

I don't know if the other stores are doing the same thing.
Anyone know if the Bloomington EB Games is doing the used B2G1 sale still?
I think they were wrapping it up come last weekend, although, at worst, I think they were going until today. If you want I can check out there tomorrow since I need to do my typical shopping.

By the way, any titles you had in mind? I frequent the two locations often enough that I can probably give you a good idea if they had certain titles left on the shelves. Lord knows a lot of the unique and rares rarely go save for the workers and a handful of us customers.

Yah, all Wal-Mart stores have bins or shelves of $20 games. This is actually a markup, as those same games were selling for $15 at Wal-Mart during the summer. Guess they marked them up for the holidays because they know they'll sell a ton of budget titles. It's all stuff that retails for $20 or less everywhere though.

I finally saw Jump Superstars and that Naruto DS game at the Best Buy over here in West Lafayette, in case anyone around here is interested.

i am sure its a lost cause at this point with BB only getting 24 systems but anyone have any inside track they might be willing to share about getting a PS3 today / tomorrow in fort wayne or close to it. Hey can't hurt to ask. Thanks

work up at 6am today and couldnt figure why i set the clock for and went back to be. work up at 830 for class and remember i wanted to run past BB to see how packed it was LOL. i knew i had no chance in getting one let alone could afford one.

I badly want a PS3, but I'm just going to wait until next year. I still remember the PS2 madness like it was yesterday. I don't ever want to deal with that again.

funny thing ps2 was never in demand in fort wayne. I remember a dude saying he walked in at 10am got one went to the car, went back in and grabbed another .... i dont think this video game madness started until xbox 360

got to love walmart.

I had to run my cousin to work at 11pm last night so i stopped past walmart for a laugh. I walked back to the game department and there was at least 50 people standing in line. Talking to them i found out that the middle of the group got there around 4pm that day and was standing in line for 7 hours. I did my shopping for the week and went back right before midnight and you should saw the look on all those people faces as the manager walked out

WE ONLY HAVE 8 SYSTEMS

then the cussing started. some people stood in line for 12+ hours saying they were told by workers they had enough to fill orders up to them.

LOL 8 systems.

I even heard a few people asking where does the wii line start. I dont know if they were talking about the nintendo or the rest room LOL

I went to Wal-Mart (around Jefferson Pointe) at around 9pm, thinking I'd have no problems getting one like the Dreamcast (I got to Wal-Mart at 11pm for DC). I was wrong, because you had to be there at 5pm to be guarnteed one. I waited, just in case someone had a credit card or some other problem, but that didn't happen. I was 31 on a list (Wal-Mart only got 22 in). I checked Meijer the same night, but they just had a raffle, so I missed out on that too (they got 26 of them in. I heard there was over 50 people there). I headed to Target very early in the morning, and they already handed out tickets, so I couldn't get one. Best Buy had a line stretched all the way to Kohl's (for 180 units), which all sold out instantly. Circuit City had a line of 10 (but this was 5am, and the store didn't open for a while, so I checked elsewhere, and the line got to 12, and they only got 12 consoles in). K-Mart had a line of 6, for 6 consoles they got in. I went to the southside of town, hoping I'd get better luck at Target and K-Mart there, but nope.

Well, the demand wasn't as crazy as PS3, but I still got shafted on launch. And I remember seeing the news, where they called every store in Fort Wayne, and the PS2 was sold out. The only times it was easy picking up a console, was for a few hours during Best Buy's 2nd shipment, or if someone didn't pick up their preorder at Gamestop or EB.

You'd be wrong. The original NES was a hot item when I was a kid and impossible to get that first Christmas it was released. People were selling them for a premium through newspaper ads and other outlets.

Before that, there shortages on video game systems my dad bought in the seventies, and he told me he had to pre-order some stuff to guarantee he'd get it when it was released, such as the gun for his Odyssey system.

Also, the PS2 was a very hot item when it came out, selling for about 3 times retail on Ebay. I don't remember them being easy to find in stores until around 6 months after it came out. If they were, I would have been buying them to resell.

Picked up my Wii at the 38th St. Target this morning as well after strolling in around 1130. I actually wasn't expecting them to have any so what a surprise to finally find one.
did anyone have trouble getting a wii or ps3 that wanted one ¿?

seemed to plenty locally
What part of the state are you from? And do you mean post launch? I don't expect to see any PS3s in stores as I casually walk around, but I was surprised to see Wiis aplenty at Targets I went to a few days back.
fort wayne

by wed the week after launch I came across them both in town readily
Wow...one of the good things about being near a large populous (Indy) and being a decently sized city, but still a good drive away.
Has anyone from indy come across any wii? Checked the target on 38th and it was not on the shelf.
Got mine there on Tuesday around 11am. There were only around 5 left though. I'll post here if I see any in the area.

I ordered one from Wal-Mart after visiting every damn store in Greenwood and not finding one.

No luck on a PS3 anywhere. Though I am not sure that it would be lucky to find one anyway.

Were they in the display or did you ask the employee?

I'm in Ft Wayne and haven't found a Wii. Meijer on Lima had them one day on my lunch hour, but I was 4th in a 3 Wii line...

If anyone knows somewhere that has stock, lemme know.

I was told that the Muncie TRU will get 12 on Sunday. :)

None of the southside Indy Targets had any. No controllers either. Only the Wii Points Cards, bag, organizer and other knick-knacks were available.

I've been making the rounds near my work.
I've not been able to find any at:
TRU, EB@Jefferson Point, EB@Lima, Target on Coldwater, Circuit City, Meijer on Lima, or Sears.

They ended up getting 21 in, I could've gotten one if I had wanted, but like with the 360 I'm waiting a year before I buy one.

There was a reason to wait on the 360 (hardware issue, no good games, hard to find), but there's no real reason not to get a Wii at launch. The Nintendo hardware is much more stable, the price is good, and they aren't that hard to find if you watch CAG. For example, all the Indy Targets and TRU stores had Wiis on Sunday, as did Circuit City. Some Target stores also got in 20 gig PS3 systems on Sunday. All you had to do to get a Wii was show up early at one of those store.

Having to deal with CS also has me feeling down (they were a pain to deal with).

Actually for me, I don't want a Wii right now.
1. I already have more than enough games to buy for all the platforms I own (I own most all, except Wii and PS3). I still haven't bought all the PS2, PSP, DS, and GBA games I want, which came out this year (most all of them are more interesting than what Wii has IMO).
2. I highly dislike the Zelda series and I'm not into most of Nintendo's first party games.
3. The only game I want this year for it is Elebits, and try out Excite Truck and Super Swing Golf. I would want DBZ BT2, but I'll probably just get it for PS2 instead.
4. PlayStation franchises (such as Sony's first party published games) just tend to appeal to me more, so I'm more interested in paying $500 for a PS3 vs. $250 for a Wii (VC is nice, but I cannot deny I like PS1 more than SNES/NES/N64 combined, which is why I'm excited for PSP downloads).

But, I'm definitely getting a Wii sometime next year, or maybe next. I'm even more compelled to get one due to Xbox 360 problems, and having very few games that appeal to me right now (I won't get into 360 much until next year, when the games I want come out).

Not a game deal, but across the parking lot from the Fort Wayne TRU there is one of those clearence book stores. I usually find some good deals on sci fi books. I collect books as well as games.

I think it closed. Wasn't that the old Kids R Us? They were using it as a Halloween superstore a while back. I think it's empty now.

anyone know if that Big chrismas store opened up this year

years ago it was in the old office max place then the last few years it was in that building accross the road from blockbuster on jefferson (old hastings place)

Sounds like Darlington farms.
There wasn't anything in the hastings building last year.
There was a Christmas store last year in the corner shop next to where Service Merchandise was out off of coldwater. It was mainly trees and decorations though.
