LEGO Deals 3

Anyone have Dewey, Louie, Chip, and Dale to sell / trade? I went to the Lego store today and they had them all sorted out, all you had to do was ask which you wanted. I wanted to get the Ducktales collection, but they were all out of those 2.

Edit: Actually, I got Lewie, im missing the blue and red ones.

While I was at the lego store, a little girl was looking at the City sets and her dad was like, "are you sure you don't want to look at the friends sets?" I just thought, really dude? I was glad when I saw her head to the register with two city sets in hand.

Parents today are the biggest fucking problem, they are simply assholes who shouldn't be allowed to breed.

I have an extra Huey (red duck) and Dale (lighter color chipmunk). I also have an extra Jack Skellington, Fro-Zone, and a few non-Disney minifigs as well. I will post a photo later in case anyone wants to trade.

Over-dramatic much?

You have zero context of this father and daughter interaction. I have two daughters and they have CIty sets, Creator sets, Star Wars sets, Disney Sets, Minecraft sets, DC sets, Architecture sets, and yes, plenty of Friends sets.

Maybe they discussed new Friends sets in the car and dad was reminding her she wanted to look at something particular in that line. Maybe she's collected Friends in the past and is just growing out of it and he wanted to make sure she didn't want to give them a look anyway.

Sheesh.

Making excuses for today's horrible parents much?

Maybe you should go look up Occam's Razor before coming up with bullshit excuses.

The is a rumour that the CMF series will be $5 each next year.

About half of the DC series has already leaked on Instagram... nothing special to them at all.

Logged in just to like this. Outrage culture is at its worst right now. I eagerly await for the pendulum to swing back the other way.

Got a new fridge at Best Buy, paid them to install it, woke up yesterday to a flooded kitchen and boiler room. A lot of my LEGO was in the boiler room so some of it is ruined. The boiler room is unfinished so a lot of soot from the insulation in the ceiling got into the water as it came down. Anyone here have experience with (a) cleaning water-damaged LEGO or (b) claiming insurance loss for LEGO?

Might have to file a lawsuit, who ever installed the fridge is most likely third party though. They didn't connect the water line properly?

Sorry, I should clarify that I'm pretty comfortable with both the general insurance claim process and filing lawsuits as I do both of those on a regular basis. My question was more specifically about the process of inventorying and pricing out damaged LEGO for purposes of the insurance claim. My default option is to figure out the retail replacement value of every set that was affected, but since that seems like a major timesuck I was just wondering if anyone here has dealt with this process and might have tips.

The fridge was actually installed by the local Geek Squad. I confirmed that they are Best Buy employees. It honestly wouldn't matter because I could just sue Best Buy anyway and let them figure out the third-party stuff on their end. But yeah, the guy didn't tighten the fittings at all. I had a mitigation crew out here all day today and when they saw how he left the connection to the water line they couldn't believe it. Best Buy is going to be paying out the ass for this.

I can''t give insurance advice on how much the damage sets are worth. However I do have experience with cleaning lego, just wash with soupy water. My neighbor gave me an 18 gallon tub of LEGO when they moved. They cleaned them several years earlier and never fully drained them. I filled it back up with water and Dawn and let them soak. Then rinse well and try to air dry the best you can.

Amazon has series 19 minifigures on sale for $2.99
Also some of the Toy Story 4 sets are on sale

Finally logged into the new VIP site to check my balance.  What a clusterfuck of a system.

I'm picking up the Gingerbread House soon which will put me around the $85 in credit mark.  Thankfully it looks like the various dollar/point ratio amounts are the same regardless of which you redeem for.  i.e.  cashing in points for $100 is identical to cashing in for a $50 + $20 + $20 + $10.  So no real advantage to saving up.

Question now is can you use more than one redemption in a single transaction.  Anyone tried yet?

You can only do one physical redeem per transaction but I think you can do $5+$5+$10 whatever as many as you want, but they expire now after like 45 days. So don't redeem until you are ready to use them.

Physical as in they mail you a gift card?  So you could use more than a single digital code on the website?  Is that what you're saying?

There is a VIP Lego Store set for 500 points, or a poster of the copyright of the first plastic brick. You can only do one of those per order, but with the rebates you should go unlimited. You can always email to make sure, they reply within a few days.

Got lucky with Target clearance for the first time in forever. Found a bunch of Star Wars sets for 70% off, including the First Order Walker, Imperial Landing Craft, AT Hauler, and BB-8. The strange thing is that there was another dude in the LEGO aisle with his cart full of the same sets. Odd that we were both there at the exact same time because according to Brickseek these sets have been 70% off for at least a week. Anyway, he got there a few minutes before me, but my CAG skills are stronger. He didn't think to look behind other sets, on endcaps, or in the secondary LEGO section where all of the new release Star Wars sets were. So even though he had a head start and was likely looking to clear the place out, I managed to do quite well. It's funny, he would occasionally glare at me when he saw my cart filling up with sets that he hadn't found.

The fossils set is a really excellent holiday gift. I think that is partly why it's at the $60 price point. I will be getting 2-3 of these for friends' kids who are in the 8-10 year range. The one thing I think LEGO screwed up is making this set 16+. There's no reason it needs to be.

But other than that, it's a perfect gift. It's a standalone set so you don't have to worry about if the kid likes a particular license, and it seems "educational" so the parents will be happy as well. I have a feeling this will sell very well.

It's funny watching reviews of this set on YouTube where the reviewers just seem completely oblivious about the fact that LEGO is predominantly for children. This one reviewer I watched was like "I don't know who this set is for... I guess if you like Jurassic World this is for you." It's like LOL no, if you're a kid and you take a school trip to the natural history museum every year then this is for you. I bet the museum shops will even sell this set. Adult fans of LEGO can be pretty clueless sometimes.

I didn't even know it was 16+. No one followers the ages anyways, but I agree. It's not as great of a set as I wish it was, but I think it will be a huge seller. I'm a little surprised they didn't throw in a female head to make it unisex. (Or just use a damn smilie face.)

Also there are people who don't like Jurassic Park?! Everyone loves dinosaurs!

Not this guy.

Also watched Lego Movie 2 for the first time...loved the Radiohead reference.

Target.com has a lot of different sets at 50% off.
A bunch of junk, but Hospital is $50, Disco Batman Castle is $50, Sandcrawler is $70, Donut Shop is $7.50, Rexplorer is $60, JW Manor is $65, horrible set but great for pieces.

I ended up buying a Friends building that has three complete sides (!!!!), 6 Donut Shops (Some be gifts), the HP carriage I never found at Walmart for $4.50, Hospital and a Sandcrawler. I don't know it I'll keep but 120 days to return so whatever.

I'm debating Sweet Mayham's Ship and Emmet's House/Ship and Rexplorer but I think I might wait for 70% off.

Amazon is price matching some of the sets so Brickset's discount list might make it easier. But it's not 100% the same.

The first two sets are okay. The Rexplorer is very good. I highly recommend the Pop-Up Party Bus though. One of my favorite sets of the year.

Why is the pop up bus so impressive to everyone?
I loved the colors, there's a pretty nifty interlocking multi-part stage setup and an integrated disco ball with light brick. It's just a very fun set all around, imho.

What's on your wish list? The way the depreciation on my policy works, I actually get more money back from the insurance company for every set I buy!
Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, The solid gold C3P0, The $800 Falcon... :whistle2:

The ferris wheel, roller coaster, VW Beetle, Mini Cooper, Boost, Ghostbusters HQ, NinjaGo City / Docks, Assembly Square, Tree House, Ship in a Bottle, Downtown Dinner, Winter Village Fire Station, Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown, Dorado Showdown, Hydro Man Attack, Heartlake City Restaurant, Rex's Rexplorer, Central Perk, Monastery of Spinjitzu, Unikitty's Sweetest Friends, Parisian Restaurant, People Packs (more so the space one) any Mad Max NinjaGo, anything train related, City Space and most Arctic. Like more buildings

Maybes - Thanos Ultimate Battle + little ship that goes with it, Avengers Ultimate Quinjet, Watchpoint Gibraltar (I like space shuttles), City Harvester Transport

Pretty much any buildings in any theme, amusement park, Trains, City Space, fun NinjaGo things.

Also how is Best Buy one of the last stores? They have been awful for at least 15 years. So I hope you sue them out of business.

I just bought a Pop Up Book for $32 with a destroyed box from AWD.

Walmart/Amazon have the Friends and City Advent calendars for $20.
