It also is showing 4,000 copies instead of 5,800 which was the amount that was announced and no specific purchase limit. I'm guessing there are just errors on the current listing.
Yeah, they may offer it with music or something else as well, and that is just for the amount of the vanilla game, or just an error, which happens often when there is time before these are going live anyways. Nothing to worry about.

EDIT: Damn, I forgot this was a higher priced release. I guess I should be careful what I ask for uh? LOL

Well, I wish I could say I was surprised by this. But it's "N" doing what they do, sadly.

Better luck in the future I guess.

EDIT: Thanks for trying anyways.

Can we combine Strafe with orders from last week? I know orders same-day can be combined but this is a one-off so I figured it's worth asking... would be nice to save $5 and have it shipped in a box.

Just reached out to them and they said it is indeed 4,000 copies. I could've sworn they said 5,800 too.

I'm kind of bummed out I missed the variant cover. I received a email about it releasing at 11:56 am. Would have left work early if I had known ahead of time.

Honestly no business doing Switch until Vita production ends.

Don't want to imagine the nightmare of 3 games at once on 3 platforms and low print runs. And milking cover variants too. Ugh.

That's silly. It's very difficult to find Vita hardware, let alone software at retail in the US. No reason that people shouldn't have the choice of buying LRG games on a platform that is more widely available and has the advantage of being a hybrid console/handheld.

Unless they split up release days it would be a disaster.

3 games becomes 9+ "add to cart" actions if you want all of them. That quantity isn't compatible with LRG "sell out in 3 seconds" business model.

Only way this wouldn't piss of fans is to split release days by platform.

Not everybody buys every release on every platform. In fact, most people don't. LRG has also said that they plan to reduce the overall volume of releases going forward, so it is very unlikely your scenario would happen should they find a way to release on Switch.

Knowing Nintendo and their arrogance/failure to change, limited releases of Switch games will probably almost never happen. The company has been out of touch with what gamers really want for over a decade, they're not likely to change soon. Just look at the Wii U for easy proof of that, a gimped console built entirely around an expensive gimmick, that had such poor specs it couldn't even match the previous generation consoles that came out 6-7 years before it.

Switch seems pretty popular with gamers. But hey, it wouldn't be one of your drive-by off-topic posts if it didn't bash Nintendo, right?

Well, Vita is winding down no matter what, and I know that was LRG main reason for lining up NS releases, was so they could "transition" over to NS physical, to take the place of Vita.

Even if they got an NS title next week, it's not like there would be several releases a month anytime soon(if ever, as you still have to deal with "N" to make these titles happen). The best case scenario was getting the ball rolling now, so they could hopefully ramp up slowly like they did for the Vita/PS4.

Stuff like this takes time, but it doesn't look like "N" want's to play at all, at least not currently. So even if they do decide at some point, to lower qty's for LE titles, who knows how long setting up a deal may take after that? I don't own an NS, but I do have a few games, and I would have bought any of the LRG releases as well, but now, I'll just stick to my Vita releases, and any other NS titles I think may be limited at retail.

Nintendo just wants a monopoly on having low print limited releases that nobody can get :p

Don't forget shady reprints that they don't tell anyone about! I can't be the only one who remembers Xenoblade getting reprinted and sold as used...

Actually I think they're just greedy, and prefer to sell as many games digitally as possible. They make much more money from digital sales, so physical releases aren't interesting to them.

Unfortunately since they only put a measly 32gb of internal storage into the Switch, digital games just aren't going to sell very well in the long run. When one single game can take up all available internal storage, people aren't going to be excited about buying games digitally for the platform.

Oddly they made the exact same mistake with the Wii U's internal storage (32gb), but didn't learn anything from that.

If only they would have allowed a way to upgrade the storage capacity...

I personally think it comes down to their typical set of issues. They are control freaks, who only ever want the world to see them as the originators and designers of all great things in gaming. For them to get in to bed with LRG, would also be them coming behind Sony, to do something they didn't necessarily invent and where a competitor has had great success.

It's not like any "N" published games would ever get done anyway, so this would only ever be an option for 3rd parties to get some physical games made, but the excuse they are giving is just that, and excuse. "Bigger print runs", like the ones they do for the Classic, or most Amiibo's? Please, spin that shit someplace else.

Where as I'm not happy that some great digital games won't get a physical release(NS/3DS/Wii U), I'm happy to see them skip LRG, as I hate to see a company like this help "N" in any way, shape or form, as they honestly don't deserve it. I would rather see a company like Sony, who see's this as a way of helping fans get some games, while also helping smaller indie titles get exposure, while "N" can't be bothered.  fuck em!

I just can't wait for this current collector bubble/fad to pop.

Everyone is doing it now and its making getting releases a pain in the ass and causing publishers to keep testing how much they can get away with.

Prices on CEs getting propped up higher and higher while the contents keep getting less and less.

I'm not nearly as down on Nintendo as a lot of you seem to be. All the same, I can't say I'm happy about Nintendo passing on working with LRG to get some physical copies of digital Switch titles. I was really hoping to eventually get a physical copy of Blaster Master: Zero.

There are a few reasons why Nintendo would not be looking to indulge LRG. But I don't want to let them off the hook on this one. Most of those reasons involve profit. With the popularity of the Switch so far, they are no doubt getting a lot more interest from 3rd-party developers looking to port their own titles over to the Switch. All of this means that a considerably more sizable portion of Nintendo's cartridge production will be occupied with more lucrative offers for the foreseeable future.

But this does not excuse Nintendo's decision. With their resources they could easily keep a certain degree of production in reserve for handling the fairly modest demands of LRG, or any similar requests from other companies. Their refusal to do so is a bit short-sighted. Physical cart production from larger companies is going to decrease, and realistically Nintendo should encourage this practice. Smaller runs from companies like LRG are the future of physical media.

NOBODY gets to devalue the Nintendo lineup with their shoddily made, subpar releases. Only we here at Nintendo get to do that!

Don't forget shady reprints that they don't tell anyone about! I can't be the only one who remembers Xenoblade getting reprinted and sold as used...
I believe you are confusing Nintendo with Gamestop.

And who let Gamestop? The devil did!

I'm surprised it hasn't popped yet... then again, I'm surprised the education bubble hasn't popped either. I thought CE prices were bad last gen but they're flat out ridiculous this gen.

Video games, as a pop-culture presence, are only going to become more popular and more influential, not less. As such, there isn't going to be any bubble popping. Moreover, physical releases for large-scale titles are also going to decrease as digital distribution becomes more common and accepted. This will actually increase the demand for collectible physical copies of titles. Digital distribution is nice, but it does not really scratch the collector itch.

There are still people who collect stamps, coins, bottlecaps, and any number of other strange things. To be perfectly honest, collecting video games is actually a fairly pedestrian hobby as obsessive-compulsive pasttimes go. There are WAYYY less entertaining things that you could be collecting.

A service like LRG is almost future-proofed. The runs they do are miniscule compared to the standard quantity for larger-scale titles. All of their releases are highly desirable collector's items the second they come out, and likely always will be. Most of these titles aren't high-profile enough to get reprints, certainly not on the same platform. Any title that has less than 10,000 copies world-wide enjoys a level of scarcity almost unheard of in game releases.

LRG releases are only going to continue to climb in their after-market value. This isn't a 90's comic-bubble scenario, where the market was getting flooded with low-quality content in incredibly high print runs. Here we have relatively high quality content getting tightly constrained to very low print runs that don't see re-prints. A bubble scenario requires far more quantity, and that's simply not present here.

I'm glad Nintendo isn't working with LRG.  Hopefully they'll only work with publishers that will meet the actual market demand than inflate the market artificially through limited production.  Last thing I want for a new system is having to fight other people to get my copy of new release games.  Let LRG and other micro-publishers come on board closer to the end of the Switch life when there is a much bigger group of digital only titles with publishers looking to get one last big cash infusion from a limited release.  It makes no sense to get them on board now.  Their entire production philosophy is very anti-gamer.

That said, I still love LRG and will buy whatever games they get that I want for my Vita.  There are fewer big publishers for the vita so it's nice having these small boutique companies willing to provide something no one else is willing to do.  Still, this market will pop for the Vita.  But there's still the PS4 and to a small extent the PC.  When those go, maybe the 3DS will be closer to end of life and LRG will get to sweep in and we'll get one last hurrah.  Or they'll get a gdrom burner and start doing limited release Dreamcast games and other retro console games.  Either way... I'm glad LRG won't be publishing on the Switch anytime soon.

LRG is fine. I'm talking about the general collector overabundance mostly fueled by Youtube pickups/look what I have/game room tour/unboxing videos driving everyone else to want to keep up.

SE and now Ubi pushing the envelope testing the waters with more expensive CEs with less and less items.

Ubi has a $800 Assassins Creed CE right now, trying to get in on the Ebay action by selling it at inflated prices directly lol.

It's only a matter of time before the majority of new generation YouTube follower collectors realize they are in over their heads and spending too much money and things will fall back in line.

Yeah just imagine that list...

Game A  PS4/PSV/NS

Game A cover variant 1 PS4/PSV/NS

Game A cover variant 2 PS4/PSV/NS

Game B PS4/PSV/NS

Game B CE PS4/PSV/NS

Game C PS4/PSV/NS

Game C cover variant 1 PS4/PSV/NS

Game C cover variant 2 PS4/PSV/NS

Yeah no thanks.

I pray Vita production is officially ended before LRG is allowed to do Switch releases and that Nintendo enforces a minimum print run.

Honestly this limited edition and collector craze has escalated to the point that this isn't even fun anymore now that everybody is trying to do it.

I don't know if we'll see a "bubble" scenario with those, so much as we'll simply see a drop-off in general enthusiasm. I never went out of my way to get those to begin with, and would only ever indulge in them if I found them on clearance at Target. (which occasionally happened) I do agree that some of these Collectors Editions are ridiculous, and certainly not worth what they're asking for them. If all I'm getting is a bigger box and a few DLC items, you can keep your CE. I'll stick to the standard edition.

For Ubi crap sure.

SE... they have most of us by the balls with their $200+ SE Store Exclusive Nier and Final Fantasy CEs...

I don't crack open my wallet for Square Enix CEs or SEs. I didn't even bother getting the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild SE, and I love Nintendo games.

About the only companies that I show up for on CEs and SEs are VanillaWare and Blizzard. And even Blizzard doesn't get a blank check. I am prepared to buy just about any VanillaWare special or collectors edition that comes out. We all have our weaknesses.

i dont know if was answered last time i asked, but this darious release like the last one is not the 30th anniversary release that had all the dlc plus updated modes and extra game and just the added game from the 30th but not the dlc?

No dlc. It would be licensing hell for all parties involved. Just the base game. Like the PS4 version

Will be trying for Ghost Blade HD PS4, Mercenary Kings PS Vita & RIVE PS4.

Bought Deemo recently & looking forward to trying for Furi PS4 & Dariusburst PS Vita on the 23rd.

Also looking forward to Salt and Sanctuary PS Vita & Wonder Boy PS4.

GOOD STUFF JOSH & DOUG & ENTIRE Limited Run Games team!!!!!

Physical copies will never die!!!!!!! (I hope.)

well i dont know about licensing hell, but a limited physical would do it justice, but at least i wont lose sleep waiting to buy this version since its not complete, best to wait for a full digital release hopefully in the future

They say that , then release a list of game announcements bigger than the last lol.

I've grew up a 8/16 bit Nintendo kid and have always loved Nintendo and clung to them hard 7th gen when the EA+MS+Activision unholy trinity upset the console market with their western military bro shooter onslaught and Sony was MIA for half the generation with their miserable PS3 launch.

But...

Is Switch really that popular? Or is it just more of the same people wanting anything Nintendo to collect or flip because of old game prices blowing up?

Many are only interested in Nintendo now because of how old games got expensive and they think they can catch the bus this time. But everyone is doing the same thing now so that bus will never take off.

Most of the modern Nintendo craze is people thinking they are getting something rare based on collector and resell explosions of past Nintendo products and Nintendo plays on that hardcore with their constant color variants and underproduce products.

They hype will die for the mainstream once they are common on store shelves.

I will tell you this, it's the first Nintendo console my kids have actually asked for based on conversations with kids their age rather than it being forced on them by their nostalgic father. I think in the third grade class my son is in, three other boys and one girl own one which is huge considering none of them owned a Nintendo product prior to this and all played on iPads and other devices. I also see lots of kids and families back in the Nintendo section again at Target and Walmart when I shop there weekly. I don't know that Switch will sell the 18 million this year they are rumored to be aiming for, but it is clearly a product that has a solid niche with non-traditional console and handheld buyers.

Not forced on them by parents.

When did 3rd graders get $300 consoles, which most likely had to be camped for at 2AM even if ordered online, by themselves, and which hasn't had a Christmas season yet?

Nintendo always has that benefit: the parents grew up playing it and it's kid friendly- very easy transition. I don't get the appeal of the Switch, even with Zelda (which as much as Nintendo wants you to believe, the Switch version is not that much better than the Wii U you version). Plus, Nintendo has a steady stream of games coming... new (Arms, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyseey) and updated games (MK8 Deluxe) to keep a steady library of games while third parties start to take notice.

I'd wager that in another 5-10 years, you're gonna see something similar with the kids who grew up with PS1s instead of N64s who are hitting adulthood/making money/starting families... assuming consoles are still around. And that people are still having kids. And assuming they can get jobs.

Kids have these things called birthdays and/or sometimes parents just buy their kids things for getting good grades or graduation or you know, just because. Frankly, I think most of the parents I am friends with would rather have their kids using a $300 console than a $600 smartphone or tablet. Also, I have seen Switch consoles numerous times at both Target and Walmart since launch. They're not available everywhere or all the time, but they also aren't impossible to find.
