Lost Season 3!!! (Beware of Spoilers)

Last night's episode was confusing, all up until the last five minutes.

Keep in mind that Desmond was told that "the universe has a way of correcting itself". No matter what Desmond does, the universe will go as planned - therefore, Desmond wasn't telling Charlie that he will die, he was telling him that everyone is going to die.

Remember, Desmond turned the failsafe key to stop the hatch implosion from killing everyone. In theory, Desmond (and everyone on earth) is completely irrelevant - if everyone was meant to die when the hatch blew up, Desmond turning the key only delays the inevitable.

Free will and free choice only exist in the sense that we can experience it. The assumptions of the scientific model tell us that the universe is natural, physical, ordered and determined. The theories of determinism are that for every event in the world, there are preceding events that directly both cause and effect it.

Also, two of the the three mysteries they alluded to are Jack's tattoos (and their meanings), and what happened to the children that the Others were leading across the island (from Season 2, where only the legs of children were seen being led through the jungle). I didn't catch the third.
I think we're forgetting another key revelation from tonight's episode
Charlie's gonna die! YAY!

Ok, I do feel a little bad for him to know he's gonna do like that but he's annoyed the fuck out of me to the point that I don't care if he's gone and actually look forward to it. Now, if only he could figure out a way to take Hurley with him...
However, if no one was SUPPOSED to die in the hatch explosion and Desmond was meant to turn the key, he delayed nothing and everyone will continue to live on and perhaps be killed when the island wants them dead. He never said he saw everyone die, and thus turned the key to save everyone. He just thought that if no one pushed, the world would die.

I'm too lazy to go back and watch this episode right now. Did the old woman mention Desmond turning the key ever?
Maybe I just have a really bad memory, but what specifically about them? I remember them having some kind of stones or something, I forget.
i think they had one white stone and one black stone (as good vs evil)

im guessing everyone dies on the island and those were the last two who went into the cave to try to get protection from whatever killed the others .

maybe that is what the universe wanted from him to turn the key...remember the elder ring lady said the most important thing you will do in your life

ok the whole Desmonds groundhog day = major suck. How long till they find Michael and his son washed ashore on a random part of the island? Also at the end of season 2. Some random dudes in a mountain saw seismic activity on their equipment. But yet nothing this season about that. It also seems as if they moving on from the first two seasons main characters. They're developing other characters to replace Sawyer, Kate, Jack, and Locke? I don't know as always I have more questions then answers after watching an episode.

I just watched it on my DVR. Outside of the truly great news involving Charlie at the end of the episode, the rest was a total waste of time (no pun intended).

Do you mean guys on a mountain or are you talking about when the two dudes were in a plane in the midst of a storm? Cause if I remember correctly those guys were hired by Desmonds fiancee to find him. But they never went back to what they were doing or what they did after they found the signal. But I could be wrong.

lol I thought they were on a boat

Desmond in England....the whole vibe of that supposed time travel.....especially with the old lady....it reminded me of The Prisoner. I liked the episode. It broke the mold that Lost was hardening into.

michael is gone...he signed on to do another show...if the pilot gets picked up he said that the new show was the priority...if it doesn't get picked up he will be back next season for a few spot here and there, but he did not want to uproute his family and move back to hawaii....as for walt, there hasn't been much word on him in awhile but 2 things...one he probably has grown a lot since the last time he was on tv, and they are only supposed to be on the island for 4 or so months so he shouldn't grow up that much in the shows storyline...in real life walts family didn't go with him to hawaii and he was allegedly a young kid that did not like being out on his own like that

as for your beliefe of getting away from sawyer/kate/jack/locke i call bs...maybe locke, but the other 3 had been shown a lot so far in season 3...

Why in the hell wouldn't you want to live in Hawaii. Thanks for the info though. If you rewatch this season they developed more characters with back stories then any other time. So thats what made me think that. I think we've had 3 new people in 8 episodes.
Unfortunately, it seems like they're getting away from Sayeed, who is probably the most interesting character on the island.
My fav is Sayid so far it does seem as if they're drifting away from him.

After reflecting more on this weeks episode I'm wondering if it wasnt just created to give the writer's another "out" when the series finale comes. Cause we already have the possibility that its all part of Hurley's delusions and now we have the possibility that its part of Desmonds future that may or may not happen or his past that has already happened. Or it could just be Desmond dreaming because he's been knocked unconscious by the cricket bat. This show is making me mental. Too many questions, too many loose ends, too many possibilities of whats going on.
Unfortunately, it seems like they're getting away from Sayeed, who is probably the most interesting character on the island.
Agreed. They need to give Sayid some guns and knives and the location of the Others island and have him go to town and wipe them out. I'm thinking like River in Firefly against the Reavers or Anakin in Revenge of the Sith against the Jedi. Just end that stupid storyline already.
Unfortunately, it seems like they're getting away from Sayeed, who is probably the most interesting character on the island.
they've gone in cycles like that from the very first few episodes of the first season

remember when Sayid went to walk around the whole island? and then we didn't see him for about nine episodes? then we found out about danielle kidnapping him

same thing with most of the other characters and plot elements. the hatch was introduced, then left aside for half a season

it's the very nature of this show to drift away from certain characters/storylines, then just when you think they forgot about them, they tie that person right back into the main plot-line in a clever way

it's why the show is so genius

The part you were talking about at the end of Season 2 one of the producers was asked in an IGN interview about it. He said that will have some tie in more towards the end of this season.

EW said something about that might not show up until Season 4. about what ever became of them

Yeah - I highly suggest some lost fans read the current issue of Entertainment Weekly. A lot plot points are timed out, and a bunch of stuff is being saved for Season 4.

An interesting blog that I saw on Digg that holds a lot of the same complaints I have:

http://krhunt.blogspot.com/2007/02/why-lost-is-lost.html

My main complaint is that the focus of the show has moved from the mystery of the island to the interactions between characters (mostly Sawyer, Kate, and Jack). Also the fact that the flashbacks used to be helpful in rounding out the character and supporting their backgrounds but now its just used as a crutch or filler. The flashbacks are now completely unneccesary and are just slowing things down at this point.

QFT. I couldn't agree more and judging by the decline in viewership, alot of people do. I won't stop watching, but it's not "must see tv" like it used to be.
Just watched the most recent episode. Explains why there were no comments in this thread.
There was a few comments in the Season 2 thread. Someone bumped it and a bunch of us gomers:dunce: (myself included) posted in it without realizing it was for last season.

That episode pissed the hell outa me. "3 of the Biggest secrets" my ass!

1. Jacks Tatoos
2. The kidnapped kids and some others are alive and came over to "watch"
3. The others live on the same island as the main cast  we pretty much guessed that

POS show...i'm still gonna watch it though till it ends. I'm a sucker.

I usually disagree with people when they say, "the last episode of Lost sucked". I can usually pull a couple good nuggets out of the show to make it seem like it was worthwhile.

But the last episode really truly did suck.

you posted what was in my brain
!

agreed completely

it was a let down, other than Bai Ling's hotness

but even that somehow let me down

Didn't care for this latest episode. It was cool to learn what Jack's tat means. But nothing else happened. I hope next episode it better. Bai Ling was the best part of this episode.

1. Jacks Tatoos Big deal? He's a leader. Dur?

WTF? Watch? Watch what?

Total suckfest.
episode tonight was entertaining
FTW. Waaay better than last week. Also gotta love the Three Dog Night. :applause:

Thought this week's episode was the best since the break, maybe the best of S3 so far. Loved the core character interactions, which Lost needs to get back to.

Plus at least Sayed got like 3 minutes screen time :)

I guess it was entertaining. But, at this point, I want the series to stop dragging on and for them to wrap up the story before it becomes stale. This episode sucked in that respect.
I hear that. Snoozefest. So the answer of Jack's tattoo was revealed? It means he's an outsider/leader?
I think weds feb 21 show meant that the women knew he was going to crash on the island and become and outsider to the others (meaning jack will stay with the others)

March 7 show lol when will they learn to keep lock away from computers
All filler, no killer
Exactly. Season one was solid. Season two was pretty good, but they started to use some filler episodes along the way. Now in Season three with multiple fillers already and even back to back (the last two weeks) I think I will just wait for the dvd release so I can skip through. Great premise overall though. I just wish they could have kept up the pace or wrapped things up neatly.

They need to decide if they are rooted in reality or fantasy, i think. So far this season, they are going a bit too far in the fantasy side.

Desmond seeing the future? Hurley's curse bringing down a meteor? Smoke Monster ragdolling people? (though thats been around for a while at least)

the problem is they initially signed up for three years...but since the show was doing so well they extended to 5 season.. they should have just stuck to 3 season...and played out the storyline first brought up

everything just seems so damn convenient now

Vincent runs out of the jungle with the dead guy's arm that just happens to have the keys still in his hand?

exposition anybody?

dang!

It's like Pan's Labyrinth, just not executed anywhere near as well.

Sweet...

*woah*

that's depressing, is it just me or is there like no eye candy on Lost?
Hello?! Are you forgetting about Kate?
Hello?! Are you forgetting about Kate?
She's definitely the winner on the show right now (how sad). *heres hopeing for some more hotness coming on the island either good guys or bad*

They need some like super wicked hot leader of the "others" that nobody wants to hurt because she's just so amazing you would not even dare speak near her let alone harm her .
And Sun
In terms of the asian ladies... she's alright. Nothing mind blowing though. Why couldn't she be Japanese .
If you want eye candy, watch the first season again.
Blesch... that season doesn't need eye candy. The episodes were pure gold loaded with death and ass kickingness!

Speaking of death, why is Charlie still alive?

*votes for Hurley to eat him*

Wouldn't see that one coming .
