Modern Warfare 2 CAG Clan - Wednesday/Friday @ 7PST/10EST

Once the map packs hit, I will collaborate a list of all the people who plan on getting it / gamesharing it.

For the new people to gamesharing, I will provide some helpful links & guide you through it.

Pretty much all you do is:

Leader

  1. The Leader (anybody) will create a brand new PSN account.
  2. The "Leader" will then purchase the 'DLC'. (If using option #1. See later for details)
  3. The most recent purchaser will then go to account management (XMB) & chose to remove his billing information (if a CC was used).
  4. The "Leader" would then give out the account info to everybody in the gameshare.

Gamesharers:

  1. Create a brand new PS3 PROFILE (the ones you log into at the start).
  2. Go to the "Register for PSN" option. Then click the "Use an existing account".
  3. Put in the info that the "Leader" gave you.
  4. Download the 'DLC'
  5. Remove billing info (if you used a CC).

-----

That is gamesharing in a nutshell.

The payment options are either:

  1. The "Leader" buys the 'DLC' all by himself (CC or PSN card). Then everybody else Paypals him 1/?th (? = number of members. Max of 5) of the cost.
  2. Everybody signs in individually, and puts their CC info in & puts 1/5th of the 'DLC' in. They would obviously remove their billing info afterwards after each deposit.
My preferred option is #1, but you can do a mix if somebody is uncomfortable with Paypal (if anyone). Like if 3/4 of the other members paypal'd you their share, then the other member deposited their share through a CC.

-----

It is also good to create a social group that is private to only the members of the group. You can create one here ("Create a group" option is in the bottom left). Here is what mine looks like.

Remember! Make the group a private one for only the members to see, if you plan on exchanging account info through there, not through PMs.

-----

Look through the official CAG gamesharing thread. If you have any questions, please ask here or in the official thread.

-----

I posted this in the OP, for easy reference.

-----

This is completely safe, as long as you remove your billing info after each deposit through a CC!

Yummy Metal of Honor trailer.

Hopefully this is a mix of stealth slowness that requires strategy (Socom), and run-n-gun adrenaline action (MW2)

Also, hopefully they make this a big objective based game for the multiplayer.

Medal of Honor does look yummy. With Dice working the multiplayer, they can't exactly copy BC:2's stuff so I'm interested in seeing what they come up with. I'm hoping for some solid mechanics, it looks like you'll be able to go prone for instance vs cop-a-squat BC2.

I just got off the phone with Verizon now confirming my appointment for the 27th. 25mb down/up speeds it is, I was considering 15/5 but for an extra $20 I get extra movie channels and I can probably host a mean game of Ground Wars on top of that. We're breaking even bill wise but are getting way more than we have now. DVR, movie channels, mb internet speeds and a cheaper phone bill compared to $40 for basic hd cable and $70 for DSL and phone. Everything is going to be wired too, I'm not going to use the wireless features since I'm reserving that for my PSP Adhoc Party if I ever use it.

I'm looking forward to getting to host for us. We've really spent too much time chasing away hosts, getting crappy hosts and losing games because we were out camped by people that live in the same neighborhood/network hub area. At least this way our lobby won't be moved as much either I don't think, since we'll be hosting people will have to come to us and lessen the likelihood of being dropped(at least that's what I think I noticed when electric was hosting). I figure by the next CAG night, the 31st, I should be set up adequately in my room and margaritas will be on hand.

Yay, I'll actually be able to play tomorrow night. Still starting at 9 now, right?

Also, going into public matches and no-scope spraying with the Barret = hilarious. Just did that for a few matches with my friends.

Speaking of verizon, the droid is so awesome/sick/legit!I'm in love with thhe phone!

I need to work on my handguns and getting the tactical knife. It is either that or lag that is causing me to lose some knife fights.

Hopefully my play tonight is better than last night....of course, my frustration level in Estate was off the chart after respawning 5 times in a row in the same spot and having the same guy snipe me....that and my play sucked until the last have of quarry.

you can use the default first recon class and get the magnum tac knife that way. It's a pretty decent class:

UMP
magnum tac knife
Marathon
lightweight
Ninja

That's pretty much my class go to class save for I put the silencer on the ump and use tac insertion/smoke.

Also, I'd love to get in on a gamesharing thing for the new maps!

[quote name='Jmclark']I thought we were starting at 9? Kinda hope I get to play a few matches before I gotta go to bed. :([/QUOTE]

That's usually 9pm Central....

Good maps for Pistoleering on Hardcore would be Highrise, Underpass(bit more campy), Scrapyard, Favela, Estate, Skidrow(claymores + close quarters), Sub Base and Rundown. Hardcore is a really easy, almost cheap way to do your Pistol Challenges. Every pistol is a 1 shot kill with FMJ on Hardcore above the waist. It really saves a crap ton of time than doing the pistol challenges normally and you'll get to hone your stealth skills in the process. I do them in Hardcore because to kill a piss ton of people in regular modes with a pistol is a bit of a pain and ends up them usually winning.

Underpass = campy, Ghillie in the Mist challenge completed for sniper rifle + Cold Blooded Pro + Ninja Pro = invisible in the medium grass.
Skidrow = aggressive campy, holding down 2 points of access.
Estate = somewhat campy, medium flanking. FMJs also work well here.
Rundown = access point campy or fast flanking.
Favela = fast flanking with some counter camping, FMJs work well.
Highrise = fast flanking from the lower levels to upper level
Scrapyard = shoot through metal walls and hulls with FMJ, just beware of open areas
Sub Base = fast flanking, going from 2nd to ground floor & vice versa

I need to start playing Hardcore so that I can get the M9 tac knife too. I have the Magnum one, but that one's the easiest and I personally would rather shoot with the M9 than the Magnum if I had to shoot.

Madder - I agree with non-HQ mode being harder with the handgun challenges. I did have a bit of fun with my M9 in Derail last night with those whiny campers. Nothing like capping 3 with handgun headshots as they tried to flank us....after NoKill (or was it Snake....someone) brought up the UAV.

I forget who it was who told the kid crying that he shouldn't have kept running his face into his shotgun....that was classic. The same kid said we were camping the whole time and he would destroy anyone playing 1-on-1.

[quote name='LordKefka06']I will be on in "10 minutes" (2 hours). I will be playing FF13 & WoW, in the mean time.[/QUOTE]

At the same time? I can see how WOW is a bit of a time sync, waiting for instances and crap. I had heard from a good friend though that the whole instancing is much better, getting warped into the instance instead of having to travel there, and getting warped back to where you were once the instance is done. I hated having to waste time just WAITING for a team.

If you need to repair/sell things, all you do is click a button and you telyd back to where you accepted the que. You can then tele back to the entrance of the dungeon when you are finished doing what you need.

****ing PS3 disc lens suddenly stopped working so I'm about to send it in to Sony. I'm out for a few weeks. I was just getting into FFXIII too. Not to mention Yakuza 3 and God of War III sitting in my room. Goddamn...

If you guys have been wondering why I have not been playing that much lately: It is due to me starting my WoW subscription back up. I will be canceling it over the summer, so I will be playing this a lot more, along with some other new multiplayer games.

-----

I will be on a lot tomorrow.

I missed the past two game nights because I have... 11 days left to move into the new apartment. Expect me to miss more, I'm basically working on it after work to spruce the place up. We just need to paint the whole ceiling, fill in some cracks by the outlets, sand and paint a relatively small room and a few other things like replacing outlets and light switches. Got the stove and refrigerator coming on the 27th as well, so I'll need to disconnect the stove too. Also going to put up a motion sensing light in walkway, so we don't kill ourselves at night, the dinky light there looks ready to fall off and I can make it mo betta.

Aiming for the 31st, oddly enough, I think all the stress is keeping my MW2 rust off. We'll find out, expect epic failures!

Didn't join the party after all. Was playing some FFA, then one of my friends joined, and then 2 more. It ended up being that for a few matches, it was just us four in a public free for all lobby. It was pretty sick.

A public FFA with all CAGs except for a few spots for unsuspecting victims, muahaha, massacre if we all stay away from each other and only kill those non CAGs.

It seems every time I try to finish one thing I get more stuff to do. I do see the light at the end of the tunnel, I may actually be on for tomorrow's game night. I don't see me being around until the 31st after that though.

Slacker...where are your priorities?

Moving sucks, so I have plenty of empathy for you with that. Just remember the priorities when setting stuff up:

1. Bed
2. Fridge
3. Entertainment system (TV, stereo)
4. PS3
5. Everything else

1 and 2 come above everything else and the order can be swapped. They are high because eventually you will crash and eventually you will need some sort of adult beverage while moving....at least my past experiences suggest that.

Best wishes for a swift & safe move....then back to knifing and shooting people in the back. :applause: I must say, there is almost nothing as enjoyable as knifing a sniper who is camping out.

Fridge and stove are being delivered on the 27th, so they're out of the way for the "Big Move". Getting a radio set up today because I can't be with myself without going batty but my AV rack(PS3, XBox 360, power center, FiOs box and computer) and bed are going to be set up probably Sunday, I need a wall mount for the tv but I'll probably stand it on a table I have temporarily. The FiOS guy hopefully will run CAT5E to the rooms I need it in for either beer/margarita or a tip, I really don't want to do it myself since that's an investment in longer drill bits.

My biggest hurdle has been the electrical work, since all the outlets and light switches were funky looking, I decided to change them all and in doing so I created a monster. I've got one more light fixture to put up in the bathroom but I installed a motion sensing flood light for outside so we don't kill ourselves at night. I've got National Grid coming tomorrow so we can have heat/hot water(mostly hot water, since I'll have to service the boiler after they leave). That just leaves one room that's being sanded, primed and will be painted, I'll need to paint and probably sound insulate my room as well, I wonder how much those foam eggcrate thingies cost.

Dude, just do what they did in hustle and flow, free drink holders from fast food places... why you need to insulate? Taking a cue from "How I met your mother"...

Ted: I want to design a house that celebrates the landscape without overpowering it. You know, when Frank Lloyd designed "Falling Water" in 1935-
Client: Yes, yes, that's all fine. I'm sure you'll do a great job. What I'm really worried about is the basement; specifically, the laundry room.
Ted: The laundry room?
Client: I require a laundry room of fifteen feet by fifteen feet. Stain-proof ceramic tile from floor to ceiling. I'm a man who likes to do his own laundry, and sometimes, it gets messy.
[Flashforward to Mclarin's]
Marshall: Messy?
Ted: Messy.
[Flashback to mansion]
Client: Steel chains will dangle from the ceiling at a height of nine feet, and that is where my... laundry bags will hang, for three days and three nights, before I... clean them.
[Flashforward to Mclarin's]
Robin: Uh, Ted... it kind of sounds like what this guy is asking you to design—
Ted: [hollow] It's a murder house.
Robin: — it is, it's totally a murder house!
[Flashback to mansion]
Tony: You know, as a martial artist, I'm trained to trust my instincts. My instincts are saying this...is very good.
Ted: This steak is so rare.
[Flashforward to Mclarin's]
Robin and Marshall: (gasp)
Ted: [whispering] Right? Right?
[Flashback to mansion]
Client: One final concern: Soundproofing. I tend to make a lot of...racket...when I "launder". I'll show you what I mean. I'm going to go to my laundry room, and you tell me if you can hear me.
Ted: Tony, does something feel...off...about this guy?
Tony: Yeah...off the hook! Bro, you are nailing this!
[Sounds of machinery and maniacal laughing come from off-screen]
[Flashforward to Mclarin's]
Robin: Ted, you can't design a murder house!
Ted: I'm not going to design a murder house.
Marshall: (shouting) Ted, you can't design a murder house!!
Ted: (shouting) I'm not going to design a murder house!!

Interesting set of maps. I hope they fixed the texture glitch in overgrown from cod4. Was getting real annoying when I get killed by some dude hiding inside the side of a hill.
Hmm the second new map salvage looks like its either going to be really fun or a noob tube horror show. Weird that they said its basically on one plane with little elevation. Hope that helps prevent some of the horrible sniper camping but quick scooping would probably be more problematic :(

Also sorry for not being on consistently for the past week or so. Right now I am in the process of trying to choose a grad school to spend the next 5 years of my life lol.

Heh, let me put it this way... When I'm playing MW2 with a surround sound set up, I don't want the neighbors bitching at me too much during RPG/Noob tube sessions and my random outbursts. Easier to soundproof it as much as possible than deal with neighbors/cops after 10 pm. I don't play it hideously loud but I do want to hear the footsteps. I may pick up a headset to play with but right now I'd much rather pay for a receiver than a headset and get so much more functionality from it.

Hey I have the same problem neighbors bitching because the sound is too loud when playing MW2. I've been eyeing up a new receiver, but I think a good headset would wiser. Any suggestions?

[quote name='LordKefka06']Good preview of the 3, brand new maps from the DLC.

I'm excited for the five new maps , considering I haven't played crash or overgrown.

Weird, I was about to put my PS3 in a DMZ, but I noticed my UPNP (on my router) was disabled. Which I know for a fact that I had enabled it about 6 months ago. So I enabled it again, and I logged onto MW2. My NAT type was then open, so hopefully that will fix the connection problems we have been having.

I'd still put that thing in a DMZ simply because a couple of people never could connect to you. Be it their settings or yours, I'd just as soon pull myself out of the picture so I can blame everybody else, which I will be doing once I figure out how to put my PS3 on a DMZ with the new router.

Just got a digital audio TOSLINK cable, what a difference that makes, I can now hear in real surround sound. No more unannounced back stabbing.
