How dare a company make a collectors edition more accessible to collectors.
In an ideal world, they either

A. Be upfront and announce "We made enough for all of our collector fans!". In which case I will wait for it to be discounted and buy one then

or

B. Announce a low print run and stick with it, in which case I will preorder regardless of the pricetag

Now I'm just not sure what to do. But Cloud has a good analysis so I will probably keep my preorder.

Here, I'll put up a few more comparisons to put things into perspective.

Call of Duty Juggernog Edition - approximately 45k produced but in NA only. (One of the rarest and fastest selling CEs in the past few years)
You also have to factor in the uniqueness of the CE. Honestly, the perk-a-cola fridge was a helluva cool idea. A lot of the CE's tend to just be the same recycled idea while the CoD one was actually unique in itself.

This isn't 1996, there is no real reason to watch a stream live when it can be accessed by true fans whenever and wherever. If you lived on the East Coast, it was midnight when preorders opened. That's frankly ridiculous. I would expect that people with $270+ to spend would have full time jobs and that staying up that late to possibly preorder a CE was not much of an option. Of course, none of this debate matters because Square has made the right decision and is going to produce more and reopen preorders at some point. While it might not satisfy everyone, it does prove to me that they are at least open to listening to their fans and also making good business decisions for their own bottom line.
See, to me that's the definition of a spoiled crybaby right there. So you only want a company to do everything conviniently for you. Well guess what, that's not how the world works. I actually had to cancel my last session of work and reschedule to go to work early morning the next day so I can watch the Uncovered Event live. Im also perfectly happy to stay up till midnight to catch the preorders despite having to get up at 5:30am the next morning. And trust me I'm not an morning person. Anyone with a brain wouldve realized SE wouldve announced a CE at the uncovered event and if your telling me you really wanted one that badly, you couldn't even sacrifice one night? And let me ask you, when should SE put it up then??? 7pm ET??? 8pm ET??? Guess what, no matter what time they put it up, it would be a bad time for somebody here in the U.S., but I guess you just whine cause its a bad time for you. No wonder you got so offended earlier when I called out people for being crybabies, deep down inside you know you are one. Just don't miss out this time around, what's gonna be your excuse then.

The crying over the FFXV UCE is rooted in the same psychology as all the whining about exploits in The Division right now.

It's basically "wah wah wah I got lucky and got something that nobody else has and I don't want anyone else to have a chance to get it too or I won't be special anymore!!!!!"

Actually that mentality, the need to have exclusive superiority over someone else or have something they don't have for the sole purpose of feeling superior is the root evil of the human species in general.
What are you talking about?

The Incursion exploit in Division was shady as heck and people knew darn well what they were doing was wrong. How can you compare that to people who legitimately pre-ordered a game? I'm not sure where this rant is coming from haha.

True, but I would put the FFXV UCE in that category, while it's nothing super unique like a fridge. It does come with tons of items on top of FF fans wishlists. Artbook, soundtrack, two steelbooks, plus people treat Playarts figures differently than just any statue. And to top it off Final Fantasy never really had a CE of this magnitude, usually it's just an add on soundtrack or mini artbook. In fact, looking on the Internet, it looks like certain amount of crazed fans wouldve shelled out for the CE regardless how good or crappy it is. Just cause people waited 10 years for this game.

It's a $270+ CE. Nobody should have to take off work or sacrifice their health or well being to preorder it. Also, I live on the West Coast and I got one without much fuss at a fairly reasonable hour after the kids were in bed and I was relaxing for the evening. Having said that, I know several other Final Fantasy die hard fans that either missed the stream due to other commitments (i.e. they had to be up at 5:30 a.m. to get to work and take the kids to school) or were screwed over by the failure of the Square store to handle the volume or limit preorder quantities. So, no, I don't need an excuse, but I am objective enough to see that there are a lot of people who want this and should have a fair opportunity to get it without having to stay up for unreasonable amounts of time or struggle for almost an hour to get a preorder to go through only to be told after the fact that their preorder shouldn't have been accepted because the store ran out of units to sell. I'm sorry, but the fact that I sat through a stream and was lucky enough to get through the store like I did doesn't make me a better person or a bigger fan. It just means I got lucky and gives me some objectivity in saying the way this was handled was poor and that the fixes Square has proposed seem fair and reasonable for everyone involved.

It's a limited CE, not everyone was meant to be able to get one. People on here really should start to learn the concept by now. And if you got one, even less of a reason for you to cry about it.

Thankfully, Square disagrees and is making an effort to get a lot more copies into the hands of people that want one. I'm not crying about anything. I'm just pleased that more people will get to enjoy this game and CE. I'm sorry if that means you feel less special as a result. Perhaps it's time to find meaning in things other than mass produced collectibles.

Actually SE didn't disagree, by making only 10k more, they try to alleviate some of the butthurt while still make this very limited. Otherwise they will just take orders until everyone that wants one gets one. I actually think it's a good move by them as I posted numerous times earlier. But there will continue to be crybabies who think like yourself that will complain they miss the second batch. People need to be more willing to give more sacrifices for things they really want, instead of complaining like an entitled brat all the time. There are legitimate gripes like people in Austrailia who has to fight over 80 copies, or people that got their preorders in on time but the system screws it up. But missing out because someone is not willing to stay up to midnight is not a legitmate gripe.

where is everyone getting the 10k number? everyone across the internet is saying they "heard it from somewhere", but there's been no announcement?

I didn't want the FF XV UCE the first time around and I still don't want it this time around.  It's ridiculously overpriced & bland for what you get.  But hey that's just my opinion, to each their own.  With that said please return to your regularly schedule banter.

As previously stated it was from the Square Enix Active Time Report and the next streaming announcement is at E3.

Might as well put my thoughts out there too. I got the CE for the intention of playing it, reading the art book, and watching the blurays. I even collect Play Art Kais, have a Lightning one so this would be perfect to go along with it. So I want everything in the CE, and while I think the price is a bit high, it is what it is. I don't really care if the price stays the same after release or if it shoots up to like $500, frankly I want it just to play and enjoy so I won't sell it anyway. Actually, I rather the price stay the same so I don't get any urges to sell it or anything if it goes up to a really high amount. However, one thing I really don't want is the price to decrease after release, which has happened to a bunch of SE CEs, Lightning returns, FFXIII-II, Type-0 HD, FFX: Re, and countless more. It'll make me feel like a fool for buying it on release, especially if it drops by like 75% as some of the other CEs has. I'm guessing the demand is high enough for that not to happen, but you never know.

I wish I had such an awesome life that allowed me to sit and complain and write giant diatrabes about such pointless things to such a great length.

You know if anything I would figure SE would have done an big CE for FFVII Remake instead of XV.

I live on the East Coast so yea I missed it because of the timing, wish it was kinda like the 20th Anniversary PS4 in which I knew about it before the Playstation Experience and thus tuned in to find out about the time to order one. If I knew about the XV UCE I would have stayed up for the Uncovered thing.

Then again, maybe not I didn't like X, XII, or XIII.

Not everything in life should be a struggle or should require a sacrifice, especially when games are intended to be leisure activities that people play and collect for fun. It's pretty sad that you believe that just because you can stay up a little later than someone else or click on a preorder button slightly faster that you are more deserving of giving a company your money so you can buy a mass produced collector's edition. Like I said, Square is doing the right thing and like many people who preordered one during the initial window, I appreciate the fact that they are doing this as there may be a time in the future when I won't be able to get something I really want and it gives me hope that I won't have to turn to scalpers who are essentially stealing profits from publishers and hurting collectors and gamers by serving as an unnecessary middle man in the process.

I'm glad they're making more. More fans out there who didn't get a chance will now have a chance to get one. If you're concerned about trivial, selfish reasons of your CE value:

1. 10,000 more won't alter the value

2. If you're that annoyed about it, then either cancel your order, or keep it and deal with it.

3. If you're that obsessed about having something that no one else has, you must wear homemade clothes and only date virgins.

There's a really strong Holier Than Thou vibe going on in here...

Anyway, I'll try to change the subject:

For anyone that ordered the FFXV UCE, do you plan on also ordering the DE or the vanilla so you can play that and keep your UCE sealed?

What makes you think they won't do a CE for the FFVII remake?

Also, it was a big unveiling event for FFXV. Why wouldn't you expect the CE to be revealed?

There's a really strong Holier Than Thou vibe going on in here...

Anyway, I'll try to change the subject:

For anyone that ordered the FFXV UCE, do you plan on also ordering the DE or the vanilla so you can play that and keep your UCE sealed?
I only want the DE for the steelbook...

I might wait for a sale on that one though. I expect it to go the same way as the Halo CE and be discounted within a couple of months.

It doesn't bother me too much, I would prefer they kept the original amount though. I secured 2 copies. 1 for myself and then the second I am selling to a CAG member at cost who couldn't get a pre order in. And I only ordered 2, because the original order didnt give a confirmation if it went thru, causing me to buy another in panic.

I think that will be episodic so there wouldn't be a disc for a CE. Doing a CE for a digital game didn't go well for halo 5

1. When it announced that it was going to be episodic I've been wondering how FFVII remake will be release and where a CE falls.

2. I expected a CE, but nothing special or something limited. Why would I expect one if they haven't done one before?

I've imported a few games from the UK. One I know for sure had a dlc code was Heavy Rain. I created an account on the same ps3 (I forget if it was UK, or just generically EU), and I didnt have any trouble redeeming and downloading.

With a multiplayer game, I'm assuming the process would be the same, but I guess you would have to be signed in to that UK PSN id to be able to access and use the skins or whatnot?
Correct. DLC is tied to the account region it is purchased on.

1. Expect 3 CEs ;)

2. Good point

I want to buy the latin america version of Heavy Rain/Beyond because the dlc should work on US accounts, it's rated by the ESRB... which makes me wonder why pretty much everyone got a physical copy except US and Canada.

Is there a place that sell that online?

I'm sure it has to do with how highly penetrated broadband access is in the US and Canada compared to other countries/regions. The hit to your addressable market size by going digital-only is less impactful here.

I also ordered the DE because I like the steelbook that it comes with better than the 2 that the UCE comes with. As for which one I'm going to open, I haven't fully decided yet. Most likely going to open the UCE so I can look at that art book.

I'll probably be getting & opening both. My wife wants a copy as well, and I want the alternate stealbook. At least I can get the DE from Amazon & save a little bit on it.

Not really a CE but I picked up my Star Fox game today from BB. I removed the preorder sticker off the box by heating it up with a hair dryer and none of the box tore off. There is a bunch of slightly sticky residue left over though :( . I think I'm going to exchange it for another one tomorrow because it's really bothering me.
