[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them (and they don't have restickered UPCs - see point 3 below) they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: http://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way). What we are currently missing is a good list of accessories. I have added a few that I know about. We need more info on these (and there must be more to uncover).

In general, I'm sticking with ShiningSlade's method of listing games. However, there are a few changes. Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Ebay or amazon. The last ones I sold were getting between $40 and $50. Are you sure it the first Lumines that your TRU has and not the second one? When this exploit was first discovered I cleaned out my TRU of the first Lumines. Since then I've seen about 20 copies of Lumines II on clearance for $9.98 but no more of the first one.

Picked up Disgaea 2 for 7.00 and Final Fantasy IV Advance for 7.00.

Another Kmart I went to had a pile of good games to get under clearance.. and none of them had been updated. :[ Maybe another day.

I'm not really sure exactly how it works b/c I've never tried it but you can use it to downgrade the firmware on the phat PSP so you can use homebrew program and "other" things;)

New price for Disagea 2 or an extra % off cuz when i checked a couple of days ago it was still 12.
 
It was still $12 at my one local Kmart when I just checked it too. I picked up a copy of that and their ONLY copy of Rogue Galaxy for a fellow CAG. I left behind 3 copies of Disgaea 2 at that store, as well as numerous 360 and other clearance games.

But, once they drop to $5 or so a piece, I'm nabbing a bunch I think. Although, my local Kmart is getting dilligent on putting out clearance games in a cardboard bin. And sadly, once they do that, it's only a matter of time before they disappear, either by being bought or from people opening them and stealing the discs.

i did the same. i found a GS that had 5 of them for $17.99 each so i bought all of them. I found 2 more from CC $12.99 & Kmart $19.99. i sold all of them and made some profit and bought more games.

since its been in demand for quite some time now, GS/EB raised the price to $34.99. before it became $17.99 when i bought it, the price $14.99 a week prior to the hack.
 
Anyone else's KMart have an additional 50% off clearance games today? They were doing it at the one I went to (Dover, DE). The cashier said it was for today only and the games appeared to scan automatically with the 50% off.

Well, just in case, I called my closest Kmart and they said they have no additional discount on the Electronics clearance stuff today. So I'm guessing that is a very local YMMV.
 
Has anyone else gone out today and purchased a game at kmart? If this works at more then one kmart im gonna run to my car and hit the 3 kmarts within a 5 mile radius of my place :)

In my case, Lumines was clearanced at $13 at TRU for OVER a year and nobody bought any. Once demand went up, still nobody bought any from either TRU I frequent. I bought 2-3 at a time to flip, leaving plenty behind (10+ copies left). Still, nobody bought any.

I gradually hoarded them all, but left copies behind each time. I had even pointed out int he Lumines thread where to find 10 more copies of the game. They weren't hidden or mismarked. Anyone who wanted some to buy/flip/ebay had a month from the point demand went up till I eventually bought them all. Anyone who truly wanted the game for the game itself had over a year to get it for that price. I had even offered up several copies on here to fellow CAG'ers for cost plus shipping, nobody wanted it.
Therein lies the difference. Many of these are newer clearances that are being hoarded in massive numbers. Lumines was an extremely old clearance that I and a few others were fortunate to stumble upon many copies of.

I went to a few a few stores today and none of my purchases had an extra discount.
 
Went to a Kmart that is about 40 minutes away which I have only gotten to a couple of times. Picked up Rise of the Kasai :ps2: and one of those Intec Multitap's for the slim :ps2: each @ $7.00.

When the clerk rang me up he mentioned that he had sold a lot o f clearance games to the "Guy That Works At Gamecrazy" He said he is always coming in and buying up the clearance games to resell at the store. What the fuck !!! ???

That really pissed me off. I didn't even know there was a Gamecrazy aound there. It's in the same strip mall area as the Kmart. The clerk also mentioned that the "Guy That Works At Gamecrazy" comes in several times a week to check prices, thereby depleting the stock for us true CAG's.

Now I really don't have a problem with flipping/hoarding when it's an individual
acting on their own behalf and doing it fo their own gain but for some rump-sniffing, a**hole, corporate lackey to be doing it for the company really makes me mad.:bomb:

I doubt it's a lackey. I'm willing to bet it's an employee who's buying them up and flipping them for credit/cash at his store. Dunno if that type of behavior is in violation of their policies though. We'd need a GC employee (current or former) toverify that.

i don't think they could do such a thing. they simply cannot buy something from another store to sell on their store unless its an independent game store. they are provided with the games to sell like all major retail video game chains. we could ask scorch to confirm this. but "the guy from game crazy" is probably just a gimmick and hes just simply hoarding copies for his own benefit. i would wait for him one day at kmart and confront the crap outta him and tell him to stop what hes doing. thats just not fair. im sure hes reading this right now. tell us which store he goes to.

You may be right but I'm absolutely positive that the clerk at Kmart (who was 50ish) said the guy was reselling at GC.

Liberty Street, Springfield, MA. I'm not too familiar with Gamecrazy but it is either next to (or inside) a Hollywood Video.

I did pretty much the same with mine. About a week after the "news" hit the internets that the exploit had been found and Lumines sales increased 3000% on amazon.com I ran across 2 copies on clearance for $13 at CC. I had bought a copy of it on clearance for $12 at Gamerush the day before so I listed the location where they were for my fellow CAGs that were interested to find. 3 weeks later I was out shopping with my wife and I found the same 2 copies still sitting in plain view in the clearance bin so I bought them.

I went across the street to TRU and they had a few copies sitting out in plain view on clearance as well. I cleaned them out because I figured others have had a month to take a shot at them and they didn't. I bought the ones sitting on the shelf and a few more they had in the back.
 
I find it so ironic that I was going to buy Lumines for the actual game only to find out about the exploit days later. Needless to say, I haven't seen any copies left.
 
Absolutely nothing at the closest Kmart around here..

They never have anything. They have a clearance bin, but it's pretty much all stuff that's $20 and it seems like the stuff thats anything cheaper they take off the shelves completely :(

Then again, theres a Kmart about 15 minutes away that has had a lot of stuff in the past, but I really dont know if its even worth the trip..
 
Well made a trip to TRU again today and I know this is the Kmart topic but since everyone has shifted the talk to Lumines I wanted to comment back to chi-town and say the lumines they have at that one are a mixed bag if 1&2 and priced between $5-$10 according to tags....

Yeah that's the thing that gets lost in all of this homebrew hype. Lumines is actually a good game. A year ago I bought a copy of it from GR when I found it new for $9 during some sale they were having. I bought Lumines II on clearance at TRU for the same reason. I hear it's a pretty good game as well and plan on playing it on my new PSP slim (that I bought 3 weeks ago but have yet to open).

Yes, the first Lumines is a great game. I made it a point to hold onto one copy of it, which I play at least once a week. It's a pretty good time-waster. :D

:shock: Then I say WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GRAB ALL OF THE LUMINES I COPIES THEY HAVE :shock: especially for $5 - $10 each! The lowest I was able to get my copies for was about $13.

It was tempting but seeing I have no interest in playing it for one no PSP yet and 2 im not a big puzzle game fan and last im not interested in all the ebay,amazon,paypal drama...

So I put it out there but im not going to be specific so no FW/SD hoarders zero in and scoop em up if anything I may go grab 1 for trade fodder...

Heck for $5 each get them all and sell them to your fellow CAGs for cost + shipping. Trust me, you'd get rid of them in no time. There's still people posting on here that are looking for a reasonably priced copy.

We have bought a bunch of games at K-mart. We have gotten Rainbow Islands and Bubble Bobble for DS for $7.00. PHantasy star, Open Season, X-Men, Pimp My Ride, Just Cause, Bionicle Heroes and Kameo for $7 & $10. We have hit the K-mart's in our areas and each one has been different.

I found 2 12 month subsription xbox live kits that come with the mi and mechassualt for 7$ each. yes !!! I also found Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence Limited Editon at Gamestop for 25 bucks.. yesterday was a good day

I can confirm that at $7 as well. This was game-only (no mat).
 
So I went to my K-Mart yesterday. Not only did they not have any good games, but they've removed all the price scanners! The signs are still there, and the ac adapter plugs are still dangling...but the units themselves are just gone. Bastards.

The one by my house has scanners, but another one that I went to, I asked a guy where the price scanners were, he said "I'm the price scanner." Is scanning prices bad for business or something? Did they sell the things to Walmart? Kmart can be such a fucking mystery sometimes.
 
The idea of removing the price scanners is so that the employees will have more contact with the customers and will therefore have a greater chance to try and sell items to a customer. Of course in Kmart's case this approach is going to be bad for business because 1) it takes an act of Congress to locate an employee (especially one that has keys to the glass case) and 2) when you do find an employee they always act as if they have something better to do than help you.

That's a terrible idea for the Kmart by my house as the electronics people can barely speak english, nor do they know anything about video games. At least they like me so when I come by they just open all the glass says and let me pull everything I want out while they're off helping other people (who speak spanish usually...lol).
