Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Im amazed you havent gotten anything under a buck... I guess Ive been pretty lucky... I also scored the .hack, THUG, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, 007 EON, LOTR:3A, Breakdown, NFL Head Coach, MVP Baseball 05, SSX Tricky, Batman Begins and numerous other games for under a buck... the NFL coach and baseball games I got tonight for .73 apiece... thats how they were tagged... it was a location where I hadnt scored any deals in a long while too, Picked up a sealed LOZ: TP for 20 while there... I know I could probably wait, but I sold my $4 HV copy for enough to pay for my sealed copy so Im happy

As far as current systems... got a copy of Burnout Revenge (360) for 1.25 ... (4.96-.75)...

Got the model number and/or upc of the GE headset? Checked my sears out, saw two spots that had headsets, none clearly marked for clearance and the clearance section they had, had no headsets.

Did snag a copy of .hack for .97 also got a couple of the Wii Mercury Meltdowns for 4.97 each, my sears had a couple of games marked down to 9.97 and 4.97, all using a generic upc stickers attached over the original game upc. One of the copies of Mercury Meltdown didn't have the 4.97 upc sticker on it and they couldn't verify if the game was to be clearance so I just told them to leave it out and I just bought the ones marked with the sticker.

NFL Head Coach and MVP 2005 both XBox were tagged $4.99, but scanned at $0.53. Stange price, but I am not complaining.

I also figured out why I could Mercury Meltdown was scanning for full price at every Sears I went to. I was scanning the UPC code but the Mercury Meltdown that is $4.97 is one with a stickered UPC, I finally found one tonight.

Singstar 80's bundle scans for $9.97

What makes it even more strange is Grabbed By The Ghoulies scanned for $19.99 at this Sears yet they had all those other good deals.

Grabbed By The Ghoulies scanned for $3.97 at the Sears I went to today. It also had the sticker UPC over the normal UPC. Mercury Meltdown (Wii) scanned for $4.97.

My Sears is becoming relevant for clearance again. There was tons of stuff I couldn't scan though. I wish they had DK Bongo Blast.

Ok thanks, I guess that explains why every time I scan it, it scans for full price or some high amount. I guess I have to actually look for a copy and see if it has a sticker over the UPC
 
Snagged the last copy of .hack Vol. 3 for .97 cents at the Sears in Citrus Heights, CA. Had to look through their clearance bin twice before it finally caught my eye.

Was marked for $20.97.

.hack GU Vol. 3 is not one of the holiday "budget" games from last year so it won't have a sticker over the UPC. The difference in prices is because Sears clearance prices are YMMV and vary per store. Much like Lair has been ringing up for $5.97, $7.97, and $19.97 at various Sears stores. Though recently I've been noticing a lot of stores in my area having similar prices.
 
Randomly went into Sears today after class and picked up the aforementioned .hack (PS2) for $0.97. Weirdest thing - it was even tagged at $0.97. Last one they had in Brea, CA.
 
Scanned some games today. YAY!, more sub $1 games!

Lair (PS3) - $5.97
Arthur and the Invisibles (PS2) - $1.97

By the way, the Yonkers, NY Sears is a no-go for any sort of clearance video games. The store got rid of its clearance bin and only has the newer games behind the glass case.

Yeah, too many clearance stalkers coming from the surrounding areas. I did, however, find a couple of Star Trek: Legacy for $3 a pop several months ago. But since then, the store has been tapped dry.

I've gotten lucky more frequently at the White Plains Sears though. That store tends to have a little bit more variety of games in stock.
 
It ain't much, but I found :gc: URBZ: Sims in the City (2?) for $4.97. Bought it so I would have to use Shadow of the Colossus (black label mind you) for my 5th game to trade in.

:360: Eternal Sonata $19.97 (Just an update to the OP)
:ps3: Warhawk $24.97 (Original w/Headset)

These were both in the Burbank Mall Sears in CA.

Checked another Sears today:

Platypus (PSP) - $4.97
Flipper Critters (DS) - $3.97

Both games had the sticker UPC over the normal UPC.
 
I went to a store tonight and Lair rang up $19.97. I thought for sure I would get it for $6.

Does it come up as the clearance price during a price check, or do they have to total it out to get the discount price?

If you scanned it at the wall scanner that is the price it will also come up as at the register

Sears game clearance prices are YMMV per location. It could be $19.97 at one location, $7.97 at another, and $5.97 at a third.
 
I understand that too. My question had to with how the price rings up. At some places you don't get the actual total until they hit enter or something. I was just trying to confirm that the method was correct.
 
The Sears I just moved within' 3 minutes of doesn't even sell games.
What's the deal with that?!
The one other Sears within' a resonable driving distance had Eternal Sonata (360) and Armored Core 4 (PS3) for $19.97 each.
Already have ES, but would pick up an extra, but I really want AC4 for PS3.

My store also had Lair for $19.97... nothing has seemed to drop from October with a few exceptions..
 
Yea I hit the Sears 15 miles out of my way, they had Lair for $20. I want it for $10 or less so I gotta wait for a drop or a friendly CAG :D

Ill keep my eyes open.

In my experience with Sears the games will usually scan for the clearance price without the cashier having to total the transaction.
 
I am a little worried about Black Friday, not because it effects the pricing on these games but because people are going to be in the store and start grabbing anything that looks cheap, especially at the stores where stuff is correctly tagged. Stuff that we could be waiting for to drop could be gone by next weekend.

Shit thats a good point.

I wonder, if you buy the game now and the store sells out, will it still be marked down in the system and you can go back 30 days later or whatever, have em scan it, than get the newer lower price?

Unlikely, I got into an arguement with 2 managers about it last year. They told me they don't price adjust clearance items and no store does (which is a lie as I know Toys R Us and Circuit City does).

I had the same experience. They wouldn't price adjust down even though I had a receipt showing I bought a previous copy at the clearance price at the same store a week earlier. Very strange.

Return/rebuy always work. Just tell them that you're going to change credit card or pay cash. Don't mention price adjustment...
 
I've been told that Sears has to take the clearance item and send it back to the distributor (no return/rebuy). But I suppose it's YMMV, much like anything else.

In my particular case, for some reason, the clearance price went from 4.97 the week prior to 19.97, trying the return/rebuy method.

This is a store that noone goes to and clearance stuff is ignored by workers, but they actually had a clearance section this time, dammit. Sign said price is as marked and almost none of the the stuff was marked!
