I have to wonder now, if Sony were to pivot into heavily supporting VR would they emerge as the leader in that space? Now that the gloves are off at MS and if they're able to sustain that momentum, I fail to see Sony being able to match in 1st party strength. More importantly is that gamers have spoken and half see no reason to upgrade their PS4 still. By the time PS6 rolls around, how strong of an offering will they have to convince people then? It's clear how desperately they cling to PS+ that it's their lifeline, explaining the forced PSN integration in PC games and the only company to paywall cloud saves.

Live service is a dud for them, consoles are on a downswing, and convincing people to buy TLOU remasters even two years apart is a joke. Hulst needs to bring new direction fast.

I think it all depends on the numbers you look at. Again it is trendy to say the whole half of ps4 users haven't upgraded. Then again you could also say half have upgraded.

A quick search pointed this out:
The PlayStation 5 has a 66.2 percent marketshare (+5.2% year-over-year), compared to 33.8 percent for the Xbox Series X|S (-5.2% year-over-year). The PlayStation 5 is currently 0.80 million units behind the PlayStation 4 when you align launches and the Xbox Series X|S is behind the Xbox One by 2.21 million units.

https://www.vgchartz.com/article/46...layStation 5 has a,One by 2.21 million units.
Also really cliche to say "consoles are on a downswing". The end of consoles/PC is a constant outcry. I wonder if some say these things just to get a reaction like Steven A Smith does on the radio?

800k fewer units LTD for PS5 vs PS4 with a higher price point, plus a year and some worth of shortages.

Even with the continued multiplatform releases, I bet if price and availability were equal PS5 would come out ahead.

I'm pleasantly surprised with PS Direct from buying the PS VR2. I received the package a day after ordering it. For the Netflix promo, it is a credit for the dollar amount of 12 months of the top plan. It doesn't automatically upgrade you to that plan, so it works out to around 16 months of the plan I'm on at the moment. Now, hopefully I like and use the headset. 🤞

The PS2 games for PS+ Premium are live now and also available for purchase at wildly different prices:

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus - $9.99
Star Wars The Clone Wars - $4.99
Tomb Raider: Legend - $19.99

Edit: They also have trophies, too.

Pro Tip: Play through Star Wars The Clone Wars on easy since there are no difficulty trophies and use the cheat code for unlocking the bonus objectives you missed since they have trophies for unlocking 25 and 30 objectives that unlock some features.

I'm going to stream a couple of them for a bit if you want to see them in action. Probably just Sly Cooper and Star Wars The Clone Wars.

Edit: Here's the video for Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus and Star Wars The Clone Wars. Sly Cooper still holds up pretty well, though you'll need to go into the emulator control menu to swap the left/right on the right stick to get the camera to not be inverted. I was not expecting Star Wars The Clone Wars to be focused on vehicle combat mission with some occasional on-foot action that is pretty poor, though you can play on easy since there are no difficulty trophies.

Interesting. I moved down to the cheapest plan (ad supported) when my extended family stopped being able to use my account. That would get me about 3 years if they don’t raise the price during that time.

For those of you that have played The Talos Principle, will I be able to beat it before it leaves on the 18th? HLTB says it's 40 hours or so but is that with or without a guide? I have found the HLTB times to be all over the place. I needed to finish up 2 Game Pass games that were leaving before I started TTP and was wondering if I could in fact beat it before it left or if it takes longer than 40 hours. I don't even know what the game is other than I think it has some puzzle stuff. Is it one of those games were I can try my best to beat it and then if I am running out of time, I can just use a guide to get me to the end? If it's going to be 40 hours or more, that's like an average of 6-7 hours a day. Not sure I would be able to do that.

Probably not but even if so... a lot of people dumped money into VR and now that it hasn't set the world on fire said money is disappearing, even if they did become the market leader moving forward I'm not sure it'd mean all that much?

Steam says it took me 43 hours to play through both Talos and its DLC, and I 100%'d the base game and did a bunch of stuff in the DLC. FWIW HLTP lists it as 29 hours for completionist for the base game, I think 15-20ish is reasonable if one wants to just speed through doing just what is necessary.

That said it is a puzzle game, playing with a guide kinda defeats the purpose there and even with powering through the game in that short a period of time feels like the worst way to experience it? I know the PC version regularly goes on sale for like $3, you might be better of using PS+ to give it a try and see if you like it enough to revisit down the road.

Interesting. If it's about 30 hours, that's doable for sure. Especially if I really like it. I only meant using a guide as a last resort if I was running out of time.

When should I see the Netflix credit?

I'm surprised that Star Wars game was only $5 so I bought that one right away.

I'm surprised that Star Wars game was only $5 so I bought that one right away.
When I was testing some games to potentially sell recently, I popped in my Gamecube copy of Clone Wars, played for like an hour, and said to myself, "Yeah, I'm keeping this one." I loved that game so much as a kid and for only $5, I'll definitely be grabbing it for some trophy hunting. And knowing the cheat codes are still there makes it even better. Infinite ammo was the best on the harder levels.

Sly 1 is on the ps3 for 9.99. Collection for 14.99.

S'why I asked if buying the individual release grants the ps5 license.
You could buy the games separately on PS3, but they're still the ones from the remastered Sly Collection. They're not the PS2 versions so they won't transfer to PS4/5. I have the Sly Collection digitally on PS3 and all three are separate downloads.

8 new suits & with 4 of them are ugly as hell is not a good promotional point. Then again what should I expect after the Adidas suit.

I haven’t played SM2, so this is based entirely on the list I found on IGN, but do they seriously still not have the 90s Ben Reilly Spider-Man suit? What the hell, Insomniac, it’s easily one of the best Spider suit designs. Are they saving it to introduce Mayday in 3 or what?

yeah apparently they are more concerned with largely adding original designs that in my opinion look terrible

Talos is amazing.

Don't use a guide, even as a last resort unless you hate it for some reason but then why bother? Its regularly on sale for like $4
I beat levels 1-5 and opened A and B with pretty much no problem. Level 6 I am hitting a wall though. 2 of them I spent like 25 minutes each on and can't figure them out. There are too many reflectors to keep track of. Really wanting to use a guide to solve them but I'm resisting. Luckily though, I don't think I need to solve every single one in order to progress. Elohim lets me go to new worlds. Maybe I will check out the levels in A and B and come back to the ones I can't figure out later. I have no idea what these computers mean and all the number gibberish but I am thinking I am not supposed to.

The game as a whole will be like that... you'll breeze through several and then hit one that really challenges you to think differently. But solving those harder puzzles is ultimately very satisfying and it is definitely in the top tier of one of the more rewarding games when it comes to pushing you. Skip what you like but don't be surprised if by the end of the game you're itching to figure them all out. Using a guide will cheapen the experience but you're prob already getting a feel for if the game is clicking for you or not... its definitely a change of pace from most games.

The tricky thing is that while the "main" levels in Talos are good what really stuck out to me are the bonus ones... and those can get real time consuming in a "wait... how?!?" kind of way.

Just to be clear, do you mean the scarlet spider costume, because that is the best costume overall and it's in the game. Unless you mean Spider Man suit designed by Ben Reilly. In thst case, I'd rather see the Beyond Ben Reilly spider man suit. But I have to agree that a lot of the original designs for this game are not so good

I mean the Ben Reilly Spider-Man suit. Not the Scarlet Spider suit. And if there’s more than one Spider-Man suit Ben’s worn that Pete hasn’t, I mean the one that Mayday has also worn.

If you missed the Yacht Club Direct, they announced Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX that's a definitive edition of the main game with 20 playable characters, rewind, save states, cheats, and a bunch of other content added to it:

They also announced a new Shovel Knight game with no footage, but it seems like it'll be a 3D platformer.

They did put out a new trailer for Mina the Hollower:

I was going to wait for a sale, but caved and bought Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.

Really great game so far. The original version of SMT5 was the game I was most hyped about for years, but when it finally came out on Switch, I couldn't get more than a couple of hours into it because of how poorly it ran on the Switch. Playing it now at 60fps is so nice.
