People still play Palworld?

That was like a 3-4 week love affair binge for a few folks on my friends list. Then everyone quit.

game was cute. not some movement.

Pokemon with guns? Sure why not? Palworld broke records with over 2 million concurrent players. It recently had a huge update and the player base is still very healthy and active with over 80k players on steam. In comparison, Helldivers 2 has just over 30k players.

The latest popular multiplayer craze at the moment is the new F2P looter shooter The First Descendant which I'm enjoying a lot.

Oh, I got that for Vita a long time ago. I wonder if it'll be like the PS1 classics where if you already got it on PS3/Vita back in the day, the PS5 enhanced versions are free downloads. I was pleasantly surprised when they dropped Legend of Dragoon on PS5 to find my Vita version of it was the same SKU and I got the PS5 one for free.
It is like PS1 Classics, which is great. These are all the same purchase between PS3, Vita, PS4 and PS5. At least forwards from the PS3 and Vita.

What is everyone's current preferred method for trying to reduce cost for 12-month subscription?
In seriousness, discounted gift cards. Costco is always 10%, but I keep an eye on local grocery ads (sometimes they have $10 off $50 cards) or credit card offers (chase and Amex sometimes have good offers).

Found an eneba deal posted on slickdeals. $100 card for $83-84 with code PSN100US. I don’t know if it’s any of them or a specific merchant. Was able to get a card last night with no issue. Not as good as the Costco deal that came about this time last year ($80), but I’ll take it. I skipped some stuff from my wishlist last sale because I didn’t have any discounted credit. Next sale I’ll be ready

A 5-hour trial for Unicorn Overlord was recently added for Premium members. The demo is up to 5 hours, and progress carries over to full game, so it should work for the trial. That's plenty of time to get your fill of the game and find out if you'd want to buy it.

Buy discounted PSN cards. Preferably 20% off. Use them when subscriptions go on sale the once or twice a year. Stack basic subscription for 20 years. Upgrade to premium at reduced rate.

Summoner is a great unexpected surprise. I'd been thinking about that game recently and wanting to give it another try (never got far as a kid). PC version on Steam doesn't work on modern systems. I was planning on setting it up on a PS2 emulator at some point. So this is perfect.

I remember Jeanne d'Arc being really good too.

Oh god I remember that vid. Good times :ROFLMAO:

I love getting PS Stars Campaign notices on my watch, but not being able to access the program at all on the app…. Nice Sony.

I honestly opened this email hoping that Sony would have included a code for a $5 gift card. "Hey, sorry this program was down for so long, here is a $5 gift card" which I would have used to buy something way more expensive, lol, so I guess I'm glad they didn't, I would have ended up giving them more money.

Games leaving PS+ Extra and Premium in August:
  • NBA 2K24
  • Need For Speed Unbound
  • Trials of Mana
  • SpellForce III
  • Destroy All Humans 2 Reprobed
They should leave August 20th.

They could've at least said, "Hey, it didn't take down PSN for a month and leak your CC info so that's good, right?"

Yeah. Prettying underwhelming but at least it's working again.

I got the PC version of Summoner 1 on Steam working no problem, after installing NGlide.
Set the game in Summoner's set-up options for video to 3DFX with 800x600 rez'. Booted up, no problem.

My gaming laptop specs - R5 5600H, 16 GB RAM, 1tb SSD, and RTX 3060 with 6gb VRAM, W11.

No modding, nothing; only installed NGlide -> https://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide

Ahhh nice. I can't remember what problems I ran into, it's been a little while - might have been that I just needed the NGlide.

Got a good chunk of the way into the game on the "PS2-on-PS5" version last night though. :)

I could never get far into the game at all as a kid - I think the boss battle with the golems in the sewer (1-2 hours in) is where I got stuck back then. But I remember I could never get the hang of the chain attacks, so that's probably why... I'm finding that the game is not too difficult at all, as long as you 1. can get into the groove of the chain attacks and 2. sink as many points as possible into the Dodge skill each time you level up.

I'm going to stream some Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Jeanne d'Arc, if you want to see them in action.

Edit: Ratchet & Clank: Size Matter still holds up pretty well, though it has smaller levels than the PS2 games and it's not as good as the PS2 trilogy. It still has some of the side stuff like the bots Clank uses to solve puzzles and do a bit of fighting and some size stuff, as the title suggests. Definitely mess with the in-game options to see how you want to handle the movement and strafing being set on d-pad or left stick, which also affects how you spin with the wrench on those big bolts you have to screw in. Otherwise, it controls fine. It doesn't look as good as the PS2 games, but it does look sharp with this version.

Jeanne d'Arc seems to still be as great as it was back then, as Level 5's first, and maybe only, strategy RPG. It looks really nice in-game and the rewind/save states let you take some chances without taking major losses as you figure out how it works. It has plenty of anime nonsense as it takes the story of Joan of Arc to it's own place of demon-filled nonsense.

Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs is 50% off at $9.99. Fun game: multiplayer Pac-Man where 64 players each have their own maze, all connected on a grid where you can pop into others' mazes. It's a bit like a massive version of Pac-Man Battle Royale.

Sadly, the player count is really low. My wife and I played it for an hour last night and didn't see one other player, just bots (though the grid is large enough that it's possible there were a few other players somewhere in the matches; we just never saw anything but bots).

Hope it becomes a PS+ freebie at some point to get the player count up.

Code Mystics ported that so hopefully it will get a physical release like the other neogeo games they ported. SVC Chaos is not that great of a game, but I still like it. A lot of broken characters and the backgrounds are so bland.

Asphalt Legends Unite is out now as a free-to-play arcade racing game:

There's also a free PS+ pack for the game:

Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road has their beta demo out now to play some single-player and multiplayer stuff:

Y'all don't realize how popular college football is in some parts of this country. This game series was infinitely more enjoyable than the soul-less Madden series for a lot of people and we have been starving for another entry for a long time. We aren't preordering due to scarcity of the actual game itself but moreso to relive something we enjoyed when we were younger. It's a combination of nostalgia and CFB fandom that drives the interest to get it day 1. The amount of hours that people like me poured into this series growing up would be worth paying full price so I understand that doesn't mesh with typical CAG principles.

I wanted to follow up on this discussion regarding EA College Football 25 since it just released officially 2 days ago. This is the best football game I have ever played and I have been playing football videogames since the 90s. Admittedly, I have skipped Madden for the past 4-5 years so maybe those games had some of these features but since I am biased more towards the college game I have to give EA credit for actually delivering on the the hype this game had going into development.

The game does a good job of simulating the strategy behind college football including both on the field and off the field with recruiting and program development in Dynasty mode. There is somewhat of an RPG element to improving your coach in that as you play you can assign points to make certain tasks easier, like recruiting or scouting. The smaller programs are going to be more difficult of course compared to the bigger established programs.

Ultimate team is decent but not the main attraction. I used the mode sort of like a tutorial to get familiar with the mechanics of the game since there are small challenges and some interesting historical scenarios from the past that you can relive although you don't get to use the old rosters from those scenarios of course.

I haven't tested out Road to Glory or Road to the CFP yet but honestly the Dynasty mode is all I really wanted.

That will be the sole reason I would sub for plus again. Especially if another atelier game or something has weird bugs specific to one version of the console. I had to transfer my save to a phat ps3 when I played rorona plus because of it crashing during the credits on the anorexic super slim.

I just want them to move the PS4 themes over to the PS5.
Yeah, I want to use all my awesome Persona 5 Royal themes I got as rewards for platinuming the game. And that beautiful Euryt Village FFXII theme. And that amazing FFVII Remake Tifa theme I got from buying all those Crunch bars :ROFLMAO:
