PriceGrabber $5 Rebate Topic w/ Lists Of Eligible Games (Updated 3/2)
Was that your experiement of sending in rebates at the end of February (3/13 receipt) and immediately at the beginning of March (3/23)?
Indeed it was.

Proves they can fuck up any set of submissions, no matter what they do.

Guess I was lucky. Sent 5 in on 3/13, received on 3/19 (fron CA), posted on 3/29, "processing".

Time to pull some others forms down to catch up (new month, now through 7/31) and post a few more reviews. I'm doing the spreadsheet thing too. Too many steps to keep track of w/o some sort of "map".

Big Brain Academy seems to be gone.

damn it! i thought i was safe to wait till april to wait for some rebates, and they just pulled megaman powered up (psp) right after i bought it! whoever said they pull the bonus after ten reviews was right, cause megaman just got ten. that's lame.

Yep, I was gonna confirm this "10 review" thing as well as no less than three games I wanted to get forms for were no longer available and each one had 10+ reviews. That sucks in a serious way... King Kong for 360 was one of them (sitting there at exactly 10 reviews). I forget the others.

However, what this provides is a way to monitor which rebates are likely to disappear soon.

Here's a heads-up - Xenosaga Episode III was sitting at 9 reviews late last night. Grab it now while you can! And be nice to others, don't write those reviews if you still have 3 months left to submit the forms!

But I've also noticed that a few others were pulled, I think, without any reason. For example, Arcade Unplugged for the 360 is no longer available and it has 0 reviews. I also doubt that 50 of those got requested when many other 360 games are still available. Usually when a hot new game gets a PG rebate, like Wii Play, the allotted forms get snapped up but several reviews also pop up within days - there seems to be a small segment of PG users who only react to them as "instant" rebates on newly released games. This is why I prefer if PG would wait 3-6 months before adding games. By then most people have moved on from the game and no longer have their receipt ;). So the disappearance of Arcade Unplugged makes no sense.

On another note, I finally figured out what happened with 3 of my missing reviews. PG support was no help whatsoever as they said there was no record of the submissions and I needed to wait longer. Well, there WAS a record - they were there with my name misspelled. Once I entered the hacked-up name (two different misspellings by the way) I was able to pull up that they were processed way back when the other ones were. Hopefully the full address is correct (first part and zip were OK so that's good).

Edit - Xenosaga III is still there, but grab it fast! Shipwreck, God of War II is another to remove along with King Kong 360. GoW II is sitting at 11 reviews, so it looks like that one hit the limit too. On the other hand, FF XII looks like all 50 got snagged as it is gone but only at 8 reviews (it is not on your list so you must have taken that off already).

To summarize, the following are gone (from shipwreck's list). Ones that appear to be gone prematurely (10+ reviews) are noted. This is by no means comprehensive as I didn't go through each one, just ones I was interested in or thought might be used up:

:ds:
Big Brain Academy
Castlevania Portrait of Ruin (at 11 reviews)
Elite Beat Agents (11 reviews - d'oh, another I missed)
Final Fantasy III (sitting at 10 reviews)
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Team (10 reviews)

:psp:
Mega Man Powered Up (10 reviews)

:ps2:
Beatmania Bundle (10 reviews)
God of War II (at 11 reviews)
Lego Star Wars II (12 reviews)
Valkyrie Profile 2 (10 reviews - dammit, THIS was one of the ones I wanted!)

:360:
Def Jam Icon (gone with 0 reviews - this HAD to be pulled early)
Gears of War (12 reviews)
Gun (12 reviews)
King Kong (at 10 reviews) Edit - OK, this isn't on Ship's list, but it was available before and I missed it
Rainbow Six Vegas (10 reviews)
Saint's Row
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 (gone with only 2 reviews)
Tomb Raider Legend (11 reviews)
Viva Pinata
Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged (gone with 0 reviews - pulled?)

:wii:
Excite Truck (gone with only 1 review - pulled?)
Trauma Center (gone with only 1 review also)

**ALERT** Games with 8-9 reviews and thus poised to get yanked:

:ds: Children of Mana
:ds: Mario Hoops
:ds: Metroid Prime Pinball
:ds: Yoshi's Island DS
:ps2: Xenosaga Episode III
:360: Lost Planet
:360: NHL 2K6
:360: Quake 4

Please hold off writing reviews for these as long as possible so others can get the forms!

now i have a real reason to procrastinate

Crap, I didn't think to check if Children of Mana was one of those close to 10 reviews. Hopefully it hangs around till next month since I just finished requesting my April 5 today.

So I was the one that told you guys about the 10 reviews thing and hearing all this chatter now makes me realize something. I've known about this for a while now (probably close to 6 months) but only said anything now cause for some reason I assumed it was semi-common knowledge. I kinda wish I had said something before. Sorry guys. :whistle2:#

On another note, I'm noticing that a lot more of my (and everyone else's as well) rebates are having problems. None of the batches I've sent in recently have gone without problem. At least 1 form of the 5 gets "rejected" for one reason or another and I have to e-mail CS to fix it. Anyone get the feeling they're trying to get sneaky and start rejected rebates on false pretenses (kind of like shady rebate companies do with other rebates already)? Either that or maybe pricegrabber has switched rebate companies (hence the address change) and this one has problems getting their act together? Just some random stream of consciousness which I haven't really thought out to the fullest just yet.

^^^^ Well, the butchering of my name is fairly new - has only happened once in 100 previous submissions ;). So maybe it does have something to do with the new processing facility.

As for the 10 rebate thing - I always had a suspicion that something was up as they always disappeared once they got near that level. I never realized it was exactly 10 and I also kept telling myself they wouldn't do that since it says "first 50" get forms. They don't mention the 10 review limit as well. I just figured around when a game got 10 reviews was also when it would tend to get all it's forms snagged, just by chance (or probability). Then I thought many people were leaving them undone (thus only 14-18 reviews or so per game). But now it is more likely only 15-20 forms go out unless it is a hot game (like NSMB or Wii Play) where the forms all get requested within a day.

Oh well, despite knowing this because you let us know a few weeks back I still failed to plan out my March and April forms accordingly and missed out on 3 or 4 while grabbing others that are still readily available (but I got them based on what I thought people might request - though that paid off on Viva Pinata which is gone before even hitting 10 reviews, and I think there was only 1 or 2 when I requested it).

PriceGrabber did change ownership a year back, I think, so that might have something to do with it. While I haven't had any problems that weren't my fault, I can see them being shady about it. Luckily they always fix it, just takes a little more effort.

Another one pending to go away soon:

:psp: Virtua Tennis - though it may stick around for a while as it has had 8 reviews since October 2006. It just got the 9th review in March.

Also
:gc: TMNT 2 is sitting at 8 reviews, though none since December.

Not much else seems to be close, so I think I hit most of the "hot" ones in my last post.

Man, i think pricegrabber is gonna try to screw me.

I sent 5 rebates on February 15th. They were posted on 3/7. Approximately a three week time lag between when I mailed the rebates and when they were pposted.

I sent my next five on March 20th. They were posted March 26th!

So now I think they're gonna try to screw me because of the 30 day window.

I'll have to wait and see.

I know I did my mailings for March at the beginning of the month, just to see if they were sticking to their "5 within 30 days" crap, or if it was just their new term for "5 per month".

So far, I think they'll let them go, since they've approved and mailed out checks for submissions in both mid-Feb and early March, completely within a 30-day window.

:Heads Up:
capcom puzzle world is on sale at target for $12 plus tax
and loco roco is on sale at play asia for $15 plus s&h

both stll have forms left, but loco roco is at 9 reviews

edit: see video game deals forum for both deals

Righyt, but were you just within the thirty day period or within the same months?

See, they say thirty day's. But I think their system is dependent on the month. In other words, five rebates in the same month. Any more, and you're sol. I know that's not what's written, but I think that's how the system works for them. How they track it.

Well, I haver ten in the month of March. We'll have to wait and see if they honor it.

This was my test at the beginning of last month to see if they'd tell me to fuck off with the extra 5 submissions in the 30 day period. As it stands, I'm not sure, though it looks promising that it's still working on 5/calendar month, not 5/30-day period.

Yeah, Ackbar, I don't think their posting (or "received") date makes any difference - it is the postmark date. I think as long as those are in different months you are OK. In any case that's another reason I send right at the end of the month - they pretty much have to post them some time in the following month and then they always stay in separate months for both postmark AND "received" date. Plus that keeps me close to the 30 day limit as well should they choose to enforce that.

Looks like the batch i sent in March just showed up.

This month's will be 3 from Amazon's DOTDs and 2 from Bestbuy's 1.99 clearance (Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem). Traded for those 2 from 6669 and she sent over the receipt scan last nite so hopefully that goes thru OK =]

tempted to pick up Loco Roco based on CAG feedback. However, since this version is an import (Chinese/English support), anybody think there is going to be any problems (different SKU)?

Thanks for letting us know. This is new to me and I normally reread the OP to make sure I don't miss anything from a procedural standpoint. It might be worth mentioning in the OP as I only check this thread every couple weeks or so and tend to miss some of the postings.

Fortunately, none of the my upcoming reviews are on that "endangered list". Might have been one of the later reviews on FFIII which I'll be sending in shortly.

Another interesting thing I've noticed with the switch to sending rebates to MN (instead of AZ). Custmore service resubmit's no longer rush you through the process. Instead the C/S resubmit takes just as long as a regular submission. Boo to that. But at least you still get your money eventually.

While they did used to be approved almost immediately with a CS resubmit, it's still much quicker than a regular submission now. The C/S resubmit I had last month was received on 3/13. The previous submissions had been received on 2/8. I received the 5 2/8 checks and the 3/13 check at the same time. The 5 rebates I sent at the end of March were also received 3/13, but those are still "processing."

I got back all four of my rebates the other day.

Just sent one out for my most recent purchase: the Xbox 360 Media Remote.
C'mon! Where's Super Paper Mario at? Where's Cake Mania at?!
Damnit! I finally keep reciepts and they aren't there :(
Since I don't have any free slots until 3 months from now I hope neither shows up any time soon. I HATE it when a hot new game gets a rebate because then all the "casual" PG users snap them up within a day as part of a Fat Wallet/Slick Deals (and, yes, CAG) sale thread. :bomb: (e.g., NSMB and Wii Play). Hopefully they'll add these games in the summer when most people have either forgotten about them or no longer have their receipts ;). Now, if you are a pack-rat like me the receipts are no problem - I have just about every receipt for anything I've ever bought. It is just hard finding the one I need sometimes . I've tried to make it easier by keeping game receipts in one place, but sometimes it is hard with things like Target receipts where I bought a bunch of other stuff.
I've tried to make it easier by keeping game receipts in one place, but sometimes it is hard with things like Target receipts where I bought a bunch of other stuff.
Assuming the games are open, just stick the receipt inside
Assuming the games are open, just stick the receipt inside
No, it's not that - if they are ID'd as game receipts when I have them at home they all go into one little box. The problem with Target receipts is they are often for groceries/clothes/etc (with maybe a game or two tacked on) and they get stuck somewhere else in the house when we come home. Fortunately Target receipts are so generic (for games) that it makes little difference which one you use ;).
Guess what got a $5 pricegrabber rebate today!
thanks for pointing that out cause i checked this today and it finally got one. need that to justify the $30 i paid. good and deep game though.

And please, people, hold off on writing the reviews for as long as possible (at least till May) so all the forms can get claimed first ;). I'm sure there's a ton of us who can't request anything till next month and would like the chance to snag one of these then.

(In case anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, they yank the rebates after 10 reviews are written, even if that means it is before the "first 50 people" request forms).
yea. there's no limit on reviews, they just take the form down off the site after ten so you can't request it anymore
Ahh. I see. Thanks for clearin that up!

I have a feeling a lot o fthose will be gone by next month. But there are also a few games I was planning on getting that I have changed my mind about, so I might have a few extra spots for requests this month. I'll have to investigate this weekend.
They've received my March submissions, hope everything goes well.
Ditto - everyone with late March submissions check the site to see if you have them up now with an April 5th rec'd date. They are still in that pre-error stage though, so as suko says, hopefully everything goes well.
