Good to hear. They were asking for way too much on Kickstarter and were never going to hit $150K.
It didn't help that they bungled the platform stuff at the start so nobody knew what version they'd be getting or hoping to get. Nobody's going to support it if they can't figure out that basic of information.

So I went out and bought Ass Creed 4 and paid less than $12.  I completely forgot I was gamer unlocked or whatever and got the 20% off on top of the sale price.

Now it will become free for plus next month.

Thank god its Friday!  As Velo would say "woot!"

If you guys weren't assholes and actually read all my posts, you would have seen I mentioned the $30 price tag over a month ago.

And @handsomepete, I'm not sure how you didn't see that price coming considering you acknowledged it in this post. You may want to schedule an appt with a neurologist.
hmm, well if past me said it'd be a day one buy, I suppose future me has to respect that and buy it day one at $30. dammit past me, you splurging asshole.

as a side note, your memory would be fuck ed too if you had 4 kids under the age of 4. half the time I don't even know what day of the week it is. except tuesday, I always know when it's store update day.

Edit 2: Wait, Oddworld's going to be $30????? Good lord!

Edit 3: Oh, that's what we were just talking about. I should probably write it on my hand or something this time.

I think $39 for Demon's Gaze on the Vita is more of an outrage. The game looks like it's from 1994.

I'm done with Gravity Rush. you had your hooks in me until Ep 17. Now to focus on Spelunky. Even though I can't get past 1-3.

hmm, well if past me said it'd be a day one buy, I suppose future me has to respect that and buy it day one at $30. dammit past me, you splurging asshole.

as a side note, your memory would be fuck ed too if you had 4 kids under the age of 4. half the time I don't even know what day of the week it is. except tuesday, I always know when it's store update day.

4 kids under the age of 4? Do you have twins or something? Otherwise, there's a definitely a milkman's baby somewhere in there.

out of the frustrating fire, in to the frustrating frying pan. I like the cut of your jib.

Why in the world would they give you a 50% refund? I mean, that doesn't even pass the sniff test. If you have an annual subscription, you're paying between 1.25 and 4.16 a month for ps+. So if you own one $10 psn game already, they're going to give you a $5 refund/credit? C'mon. And hey, spend that $5 refund on another game they eventually give out and they'd recursively be giving you another $2.50. Not to mention, you still own the game(s) you bought, they aren't tied to your ps+ subscription. Giving any sort of refund would break the system.

Here's the thing: the better the games (for your personal taste) that PS+ gives out for a given month, the more likely you already bought them.

Part of the price of any game is based on when you 'buy in'. A triple-A game is $60 (minus sale) on release, but you can play it for $10 if you wait three years. PS+ is just part of that delayed gratification eco-system. If you can wait, great. I still buy games like TxK, Luftrausers, and Demon Gaze day 1 because I want to play them day 1, not wait months, years, or forever for them to show up.

Do I get 'burnt' when a game like Unit 13 (I bought a code for $10), PixelJunk Monsters (I paid $15, I think, day 1), or Urban Trials (waited for a sale, I think I paid $7) go on sale? Nope. Because I paid the price I wanted to pay to play them when I wanted to play them. And so I already own 1 or 2 games out of the 5 or so PS+ gives me every month.

That just tells me ps+ gives out games I like to play. I'd be far more concerned if they never put games I wanted so much I already bought on it. Best $15-30 dollars I spend a year, easy. Even if every other month 'sucks', one good month can easily justify half a year's cost. (Not to mention, extra discounts on big sales practically pays for it themselves).

Buy games when you want to play them or when they hit a price you can afford w/o worrying about it. Our backlog is part of our hobby, just like reading forums more than we actually play is. I could probably play games I already own for the next few years at this point. Doesn't change the fact I want a huge psp/ps1 sale.
I think most people are missing the point here. The reason Sony should address the issue of someone having already purchased a game that's now free on Plus is for Sony's long-term benefit. I have all but stopped buying anything digital because I worry that it may go free on Plus someday. That kind of mindset can't be good for Sony's digital sales long-term.

I realize that it's not reasonable for Sony to start handing out refunds, but there should be some way of making people not feel foolish for having purchased something that's now free. There's no doubt that Plus is a great value, but it seems like it may be detracting from other sales Sony could get from people like me who are cheap and over think their purchase decisions and also have plenty of backlog to allow people to be overly cautious and wait on free Plus games.

I really think the revenue lost from the "wait-til-it's-free" crowd is negligible.  People just don't have the patience, especially when the devs do a good job of hyping the game up pre-release, like Child of Light.

You realize that if you are on this site, you are not the normal customer don't you? For any of us to think Sony, or any other company wanting better profits really gives 2 shits about what we as a group think would be delusional.

Even if all of us cheap bastards decide not to buy a game at $4 because we think it will go free is going to be in the round off error of their sales numbers.

Since when does buying video games create "worry"? I just don't get it, are people really that broken up that they bought puppeteer for $7 in January, which will have been 4 months ago once it goes free on ps+? I bought it at that time and still have not touched it, oh well. i am not mad at Sony about it, I chose to buy it.

I have a similar problem to the poster that started this whole discussion.

Yeah, I guess I wasted money buying the game on sale, never playing it and then watching it go free (so many games this has happened).

Maybe the difference between that poster and me and a lot of us is that I recognize that me "losing" money is my own fault.

If I wasn't going to play it soon, then I shouldn't have bought it then.

However, if Sony is going to give me a credit, then sign me up.

How should they address this issue? Get rid of PS+ sales completely so that those that have this issue don't get their feelings hurt for directly supporting devs/pubs and PS+ in general? I don't think there's a reasonable solution outside of maybe some sort of therapy with approved PS+ analrapists.

If you're buying these games and never playing them before they go free, then you might want to make better purchasing decisions by figuring what games you're buying to play and which games you're buying just to buy something and cut the latter purchases out since it's apparently bugging you so much.

For me, the savings from purchasing games essentially helps make that $50 worth it since I can easily save more than that through the many sales we get throughout the year. That makes the free stuff the icing on the cake, so if stuff I already own is put up free for PS+, it's not the end of the world. I got the thing I wanted for a price I was willing to pay for it and now more people can play some of those great games, too. The deals are the other half of what PS+ has to offer alongside the games, so I make the best use of both that I can.

Why don't we discuss the other niche of PS+ users, which are those that want to purchase the games they get for free so they can take the quotation marks off of their ownership status?

You definitely have a good point. It would be interesting to know what percentage of people are in the groups of frugal gaming versus those who just spend whatever and don't worry about it. Obviously, there would be no valid way of determining this for many reasons, but I guess my assumption was that there are a decent number of gamers who do act frugally and base their purchasing decisions that way.

SportsFriends sounds like it is better on PS3 than PS4. Only 4 player JSJoust on PS4 but 7 players on PS3? Plus custom music on PS3 but not PS4 (guess that's a PS4 issue, hopefully to be resolved in some future PS4 update). JSJoust is very cool, incidentally, and I say that as somebody who has only watched videos of it and seen people through a doorway playing it. I'd buy this just for that. But I don't have Move. Not sure it would be as good with DS3s. I guess DS4s would work better, though.

You're forgetting that not everyone is a paranoid crybaby like yourself.

It's a good thing you can get both and don't have to choose.

I have friends who buy games at release and not even with any discounts (except no tax from amazon in some cases). I think there's a lot of people like that, and they don't really care if it drops $20+ in 2 weeks (like Titanfall 360)

For the record, it doesn't bug me. I was jumping in the discussion started by someone else. My only point was that Sony's current setup could hurt them in the long-run because people like me will wait and not purchase items thinking that they may come to Plus. As Tyler pointed out, people like me are probably a small minority and Sony has (or should have) a team of statisticians and accountants that tell them my opinion doesn't matter.

So now I have to buy Move. fuck you Sony!

Oh, and seriously, now I will be on the lookout for closeout PS3 Move wands. Does JS Joust use the camera? Can you use the Move wands without the camera at all? Hopefully so.

You did say you don't really buy anything because you're worried about it going free.

My point was to the general "you" that seriously has these issues with PS+.

It doesn't use the camera since it just uses the gyroscope with the light only being used to show whether you've been knocked out or not.

The complaint about not wanting to buy games because they'll show up on PS+ is an expression of ignorance. If you want to bitch and whine about games showing up on PS+ eventually, don't buy games. People that want to play games immediately buy them on release. People that want to play games but don't want to pay as much wait for a sale. People that want to play games but not pay for them wait until they're free. The exact same argument applies to movies; "I don't want to pay $12, I'll wait for it on Redbox," "I don't want to pay for Redbox, I'll get it when it comes to Netflix," and "I don't want to pay for Netflix, I'll wait for it to be free on daytime antenna television."

It's not rocket science. You're not being cheated by buying games (or other media.) You either don't understand the reality that media drops in price with the passage of time (living in willful ignorance) or you're complaining because you think somebody cares (which nobody does--back to ignorance again.)

So aside from formerly being a CAG, who is this guy?

Ninja'd, kind of

Wait, what? Get out of here. We dont need this common sense logic. You may confuse people.

Followed!

Also, did you guys know that when you get a game free with PS+, you don't really get the game for free?  There is an annual membership fee you have to pay in order to get the free games.  So they're not really free.

fuck ing hell I hate people.

So who do I send the bill for the difference between the $3.75 I paid for Tokyo Jungle and the .99 cents it was last week?  And also, when it goes free on PS+ do I have to send them the bill again?

As a thank you for this tip, I'd like to give you guys the details of a great deal I found where you can get to use federal grazing land for free.

And before you guys say I'm entitled, I would like to let you know about some musings I've had where I've wondered whether the Jews weren't better off during WWII compared to how they are now.

It's not that serious. God forbid someone has an opinion different from yours (I know it's a foreign concept in the deal forums now).

I don't think anyone should be getting upset over "lost" money spent on now free Plus items, but acting frugally about purchasing games should not be frowned on for a site that is dedicated to that exact purpose.

There's a difference between having an opinion and being an idiot.
People get confused with the difference between having the right to have an opinion and having the right to not be ridiculed for having a stupid ass opinion.

Everyone has the right to an opinion. However, no one has the right to not be ridiculed for having a stupid ass opinion.

There's a difference between having an opinion and being an idiot.
Yes, we read your posts. Now what I posted was an opinion that related to the OP. That used to be the purpose of this place. Now I can see it's about who can repeat the previous posters insult without adding a single new idea.
