Yea, now Sony gets $30-$50 more per year per person, in the process locking them into the Sony eco-system and eventually selling them a vita and ps4 since they have a pile of 'free games' already. Plus they sell plenty of copies day 1 to people who want the game right away, get more binge sales due to steep ps+ discounts during sales, and still get $x per person per game for anyone willing to 'wait it out' till ps+.

It's definitely hurting them in the long run.

On an unrelated note, the Best Buy deal of the day is AC4 for 13.99.  I haven't played any of the AC's but own AC1.  Should I buy it? That's a really good price.

I unfortunately am almost tempted.  Maybe I should actually play the first one?

It'll get cheaper. That's just the best sale so far. Regarding the first game...if you're going to play it, definitely play it first as you will probably have problems going from a later game to that one.

Can finally try Bored to Death and Treme, most of the rest of that list (Boardwalk Empire, Band of Brothers, Carnivàle, Deadwood, Oz, The Pacific, Rome, Six Feet Under, The Wire, etc.) I either own or have already Netflixed previously. Though some of the shows like Rome it's half the experience to watch the episode with the pop up historical trivia which puts things into context what won't be present when streamed.

I played and beat the first. Played some of the 2nd and lost interest. I only played AC4 because it was one of the few PS4 launch titles that Target actually had in stock. I loved this game. Much more then the first. I don't think you need to play the previous ones to really enjoy AC4. Different character and the best part IMO is the ship battles, I sold it but want to pick it up digitally when it is cheap.

 
Woohoo, just platted Unit 13.  Damned co-op was buggy though, so that trophy glitched on me when the game kicked me back to the lobby.  Somehow got credit for beating the MP mission.  But I'll take it.  Fun game.  Now I need to decide what's next on my Vita backlog.  

 
This'll be fun. Saw this on kotaku - a lengthy defense of vanquish. My favorite part from skimming it is below - the rest of the essay may be crap, but this is how I felt the entire time I played this game. Really, really tempted to jump out of cover.

But what becomes clear, after an hour or two, maybe less, is that VANQUISH is not a cover shooter at all. VANQUISH is, instead, an anti-cover shooter, and, in being so, forever redefines the cover shooter, in exactly the same way that RESIDENT EVIL 4 redefined third person action games for the last decade. VANQUISH is nothing if not a monumental pile of temptations to encourage players constantly leave cover.

Completely unrelated to what you wrote, lol. Konami announced earlier today that Ground Zeroes shipped over 1 million copies. Well deserved IMO. I think ~$20 is a fair price for it, and Amazon has pre-owned copies going for that.

Anyway, I mainly bring this up because the breakdown among platforms is interesting. Around 150k sold on PS4 and ~53k on PS3. Even X1, at ~56k, bested PS3. Around 20K on 360. Mainstays like COD and NBA 2k have still sold a lot better on the older consoles, but even their March numbers indicate somewhat of a shifting tide.

I know a few here disagreed, but this is why I expressed frustration at the decision to not put Borderlands on PS4. Still believe it's a gross miscalculation on their part. That isn't to say it won't do well, but what's the point of it not at least having a current gen port? Especially since I *believe* a large number of Borderlands diehards are the same people who early adopt. You can't just compare console install bases. Idk, just my thoughts.

Those copies($$$) and fan feedback on GZ will drive The Phantom Pain to be even better.

Yet you get people bitching about length. Either they hate the 10 hour cutscene or the 2 hour streamlined experience.

And about console install. There are about 11-12 million current gen consoles put out there. Good/mediocre triple A games have shipped 1-2 million units (inFamous, Killzone, Ryse, MGS). The presequel IS coming to PC, which makes porting it to the PS4 and X1 easier than developing the PS3/PS4 versions.

Gearbox is dumb.

Gearbox isn't making the new game. It's some 2K studio.

 
Sell Borderlands The Pre-Sequel on 360/PS3 in the Fall, re-release it for the One/PS4 in the Spring.

Duh.

I'm sure it's just because Gearbox is busy working on a new engine. Plus $.

Congrats.

I am one or two 5 star missions away from the trophy for 13 5 star missions. I don't think I will be able to unlock the HVT targets legitimately. I have no desire at this time to 5 star all 13 missions. I think I have everything else.

Really fun game. I have played much in the last 2 weeks but picked it up tonight for an hour so.

I couldn't agree more. On all counts. Though I think $20 MSRP would have stung less for most people.

To your point about mediocre "AAA", the thirst is so real right now people will buy anything. I'll give Infamous a pass since I did actually enjoy it, but Shadowfall is a piece of shit. Did you finish it? The last 4 stages are rage inducing. I don't understand how people can excuse the level design. The stupid story. The nauseating waves of ememies that flank from every direction. Like, fuck.

There is absolutely no reason Borderlands couldn't match or exceed Killzone's sales, but I guess the suits know better than us.

The Wire was a great show. Some people love it and some hate it. Just make sure to watch more than a few episodes if your thinking of giving up on it. I know a few people that only watched 2 episodes and stopped watching. Then I have other friends that borrowed all my seasons of it cause they were hooked on it.

I wish Carnivale lasted more than 2 Seasons because that series had a lot potential.
 
Enjoyed Killzone Mercenary's multiplayer about as much as I expected. As in, I'm putting it up on ebay right now. Finish the last couple of campaign missions then away it goes.

Edit: Well never mind, looking at the prices I'm just going to trade it in to Amazon. Guess it's good I locked in the TIV over the weekend. Or maybe I'll give the Amazon marketplace a go. How do they handle shipping and shipping labels? With paypal, you can just print out a label through them. Is it similar with Amazon?

Good luck with those first few episodes. I didn't make it past episode 6, watching paint dry is significantly more interesting. Maybe I'll give the show another shot in the future. And I'm a patient dude, I still enjoy Mad Men somewhat. The beginning of The Wire was seriously the slowest show I've ever seen.

Yeah, as long as you know how much your item is gonna weigh you can buy shipping through Amazon and print a shipping label.

Going to play through a little bit more and decide whether or not to keep Killzone. Leaning towards getting rid of it since I'm not big into multiplayer games and they end up time sinks while I could be playing other games.
