Sopranos is my favorite show ever.  

Breaking Bad was very good but is definitely overhyped by everyone on the net.  That show started extremely slowly as well, and some of the middle seasons I found dull at times.  I was also pulled out of the realism of the show by just how terrible of drug dealers these two were.

I'm pretty sure I've typed that before in this thread.  

The Following seems pretty dumb.  Cosmos is probably interesting but I'm not a big "watch TV to learn" kind of guy.

Just finished Infamous 1. 6 years late, but I just got a PS3 last year so oh well. It was a really good game with a cool story and ending and now I'm excited for Infamous 2 as well as SS when I get a PS4. How do those two titles compare to the original?

I also have Festival of Blood. I suppose that comes between 1 and 2, since I read that 2 ends Cole's story pretty definitively.

Infamous was the first SP game I've played. I was always iffy about Sly but that they did those as well makes me a lot more interested.

Also...I'm hoping that they got rid of the Counter Surveillance missions after the first game. Those were the worst in the game by far. Not a single interesting thing about climbing all around a building looking for a blinking red light. Somebody in QA failed by letting those into the game.  :wall:

Lost was only good for the first episode and everything after that was a quick drop to the level of quality you can expect from the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Infamous 2 is like a really polished version of the first game in terms of look, controls, and all that. If you like the platforming/jump physics in Infamous, Sly Cooper's not too far off from that with it obviously being a bit more simple than Infamous.

I think he died, all signs from previous episodes seem to suggest that.

That being said, he shouldn't have died. The feud with Phil Leotardo was over, his crew had already basically abandoned him because they thought he was being both cowardly and making bad decisions. Him dying was a good thing for Butch and the rest of the crew, and going back to the NY/NJ relationship would have been beneficial for both sides. There was NO reason for Butch to keep the hit on Tony.

So that leaves the option that it was a stray assassin that someone in NY forgot to call off. That just seems so flimsy, and such a weak way to take Tony out. Most the murders in that show were extremely calculated, so to make a mistake like that and to forget to call off a hit just doesn't work for me. Maybe Phil hired him and nobody else had any knowledge of it, but still, like I said, that is weak.

Other than those two options, it could be a random person with a personal vendetta for Tony. That's also a lame way to take him out.

Beyond that, the final episode Made in America was one of my least favorites. Not because of the ending (I liked the fade to black) but because they tried to pack way too much into that episode. The whole final season built up to those final two episodes, and things were just wrapped up WAY too easily. Not just with the gang feud, but even with AJ. He's firmly depressed and has all kinds of weird thoughts, but getting him a job at a movie studio and a BMW cures all that? It was weak "oh fuck we have to wrap this up" writing and I'm disappointed that that's the episode that wrapped up the Sopranos. If I watched the final episode again I could probably write a 1000 word essay on everything that was bad about it.

The first three seasons of Breaking Bad sucked so much ass. It's definitely a rare example of a show that got infinitely better as it went along. I recently got a friend to watch it, she's never seen it. She's currently through season two and I'm always getting "So...when does it get good?" To which I have to tell her just wait until about halfway through season four.

 
I haven't watched past the first season and a half of BB. It's in the backlog. What I did see, though, was extremely uncomfortable to watch. Walter's life is just so shitty that it's embarrassing to witness. There were some fantastic scenes in there, though.

 
Festival of Blood is more of a side story (alternate universe) to Infamous 2. I would recommend playing it after 2. By then you'll know the city and you'll enjoy getting all of your (different) powers much more quickly than you do in the main game.

She must be a pretty good friend to trust you enough (and spend so much time) to watch approximately 40 episodes of a show that she thinks is not good in hopes that she'll like it halfway through season 4.

Considering you're saying over half of the all episodes are basically garbage, do you actually define it as a "great" show? I'm genuinely interested.

It's not what happened to Tony, it's what happened to us, the audience.

There were multiple discussions in the final season as to what it would be like to get whacked. The audience got whacked. Bang, in the back of the head, without warning. Blackness.

That is the brilliant, brilliant ending to the Sopranos.

I wasn't much taken with Breaking Bad in it's first season, it was season 2 when it started getting interesting for me.

Against all odds (NBC, TV-remake of a book and film character) Hannibal is actually really good. The first half of season 1 was ok, the second half of season 1 was great, and the first half of season 2 has been exceptional.

Jay has not told us what he considers to be good TV, but just keeps saying our picks are terrible. Based on some of the music videos he posts though, we can all be safe in assuming we have better tastes in entertainment.

Or just play it, get the platinum, and sell it since it's not a long or hard game. I know that's a radical idea, but it's good to think outside of the box once in a while.

Thanks for posting this. I missed Thor in theaters and it's not on netflix yet.

Also, Tuco was a bad ass. One of my favorite antagonists on BB and almost as memorable as Gus.

Don't you guys like rogue-likes?  Or at least like to argue over the term "rogue-like"?  FFX-2's rogue-like is actually surprisingly fun.  And I guess they brought the voice actors back 10 years later for the talky stuff, which is pretty cool, too.

Havent played 2 and 3 and want to play them in order. Only paid $6.67 from best buy for it (B2G1) so just kind of owning it for when I get around to it. 2s camera is garbage and doesn't have the proper invert features otherwise I probably would have played them all by now. So that put a crimp in my plans.

as im sure you probably know im working on my 360 backlog so no time to play sly 4 at the moment either.

I watched two or three episodes of Breaking Bad and thought it was pretty mediocre. And then there was the bathtub thing and I was done. Seemed like another cable show that wanted to see what they could get away with. But then even my sister loved the show and so I'm curious about it. She started watching I think in the next to last season. Maybe that is how you watch Breaking Bad and love it.

I own blu ray collections of breaking bad and game of thrones. they are awesome. altho i am already so spoilered for s4 of got. I dont have hbo but everyone posts everything on fb, argh. I used to watch Oz, etc such great shows.

Shareware honor system. Remember those old computer games like dungeon quest or hero quest and they would have the code wheel or say turn to page 25 and 3rd sentence 2nd word. lol. commodore 64. My dad used to stay up late playing silent submarine or whatever the hell that was. you could even go out on the deck and enjoy the graphics :) fun times.

oh man. what was that old computer rpg ish game. you could break into people's houses and you had to put specific commands, you could be fighter wizard or thief. There was a house with bird legs. the sequel was in like arabia and involved genies and an underground dungeon. this was like 1990ish. wow time flies. I remember the instruction book was like a strategy guide and had hilarious info about every fauna and flora in the game. nostalgia bomb... someone help me out!

speaking of hero quest, I used to play that game too. old school board games. I tried descent, but it just isn't the same. I think my imagination broke once i got hooked on video games. no wonder i am into this cardhunter game. peace all and have a great weekend.

I said it 'reminds me' of it, not that it was it, because I was referring to how you get the 'full game' vs. a demo. You're right though, it's closer to crippleware, but that term was negative in regards to shareware -- nowadays I think most people would prefer crippleware to f2p.

Oz is like the mirror universe of the police procedural, so many people who later on were famous for playing cops on TV shows played cons on Oz.

Why? They're like the Ratchet & Clank games in that the stories are mostly self-contained so that you can jump into any of them in any order. If you lied Sly 2, Thieves of Time is pretty much a better version of that style of Sly game.

 
Flying Hamster is a surprisingly difficult shmup.  I don't really dig the aesthetic (I like shmups to look more like Sine Mora or Soldner-x, etc) but behind that cartoon crap it's dang hard.

I deem 100% on No More Heroes damn near impossible.

Thanks for the link. I did look in the archives and it looks like the .99 weekly movie rental only became a regular thing last December, so I didn't miss out on as much as I thought.

FYI, Xbox sometimes has free movie weekends - this week, no free movie but there is a .99 purchase and rental for a zombie movie called The Coed and the Zombie Stoner which is exclusive to Xbox.

If you enjoy RPGs like Wizardry, Etrian Odyssey and Class of Heroes, you will probably like it. I think it's better/easier than those, but the bosses are horseshit cheaters, hahaha. I've played about 25 hours, and there's a lot of grinding.
