I was all set to get The Simpsons game in the cheap this week because of heavy nostalgia playing that in the arcades, but I think you all everybody has convinced me to get SOTC instead. Much more bang for my buck.

Punks.

I will definitely be picking up Alice since it's less than the price of a sandwich and is TWO games, the PC version of the original Alice (which I've always wanted to play) has a metacritic score of 85 if that makes any difference
I agree it's a great deal....if you'll actually play the games. If you buy them, add them to the backlog, then never play them and can't resell them since they're digital then it's an awful deal.

I'm going to pretend that the addition of Binary Domain is a precursor to it being added as a PS+ freebie.

I hadn't realized that the Vita version of Mortal Kombat is the Komplete Edition, that's a nice bonus and makes an even better purchase for $5.

Only if you know you wouldn't have to sell the physical copy at a loss later.
im confused. How is selling a physical copy for a loss of a couple bucks the same as a 100% loss buying tons of games you'll never play? Ultimately it doesn't matter because I wouldn't buy this as a physical copy for $5, physical sales just make it easier to swallow.

Wow, Castle Shikigami 2? Rather obscure title to put on PSN. I remember playing the 3rd one on Wii & most I recall was the terrible voice acting (I heard the 2nd one was bad as well). Think I'll file that under "wait for a sale"/

Looking forward to picking up some new vita games on sale tomorrow. Just had to delete Soundshapes out of fear of destroying my vita and anything else within reach. lol

Looks like I'll be passing on some games this week since my money is low. I got $10 on my account from the spend $50 get $10 back promo. I'm going to get SotC and tomorrow I'll get either Alice or Lego Batman 2 for vita. I did wanted to get the Ratchet and Clank collection for my son but I'll hold off till the disc version goes on sale again.

Lego Batman 2 for vita.
I'd really appreciate if someone here could speak on this because I've read tons of horrible things about the vita port. This would have ordinarily been a no-brainer, but it apparently just flatout sucks. Shocking, considering it was even bundled with the vita (...i know, *Declassified*). I'd love to have a portable LEGO game for $5.

isnt MK Vita... bad?
Nope! It just looks a little janky compared to the handsome console version (apparently a result of striving to hit a solid 30fps at all times. As long as you're not expecting the sistine chapel, there's a lot of content to enjoy.

If you played the Lego Harry Potter for vita, it's a port of the 3DS game. It's not open world like the consoles versions. I have the console version but I tend to like the portable ones. That's just me. It's also an easy platinum if you're a trophy whore.

For some reason I can't pull the trigger on Ratchet and Clank Collection.  I think I just like owning those HD ports in physical form, and will wait for the inevitable $10 sale.

I'm a total newcomer to the series - for anyone knowledgeable about the series, what's the difference between the $5 Mortal Kombat released Jan 24, 2012 and the $50 Mortal Kombat Komplete released May 29, 2012? All the Komplete description mentions is 4 DLC characters and 15 skins. Is that the only content difference between games?

At $7.50 I think it's a no brainer. If you want a physical copy, you can always pick one up a few years from now when GS or some other store has it on sale for $5.

Yes that's it and the vita version is the komplete version.
Thanks very much! I haven't been able to get into a fighting game on the Vita yet, but for $5 I'll ditch the extra skins and sink my teeth and fightstick into Mortal Kombat PS3. Mostly was concerned about a lot of missing gameplay content / features.

WOOT! Tales of Xillia 2 is officially announced. I know there have to be some other Tales fans out here that are excited by this news!

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/07/08/tales-of-xillia-2-out-in-2014-exclusively-on-ps3/

EDIT: This is also exclusive to ps3 so no need to buy the ps4 yet for those that are waiting like me.
Are the Tales games that awesome? I have a pre-order in for the Tales of Xilia CE but I'm considering canceling it because of how much it costs, even though I plan on selling the statue.

Tales is easily tied with FF for my favorite JRPG series. They both scratch different itches. Tales is faster paced and a little cuter thanks to the hand drawn anime style. FF tends to be more tactical and serious in themes.

I am so excited for Tales of Syphonia Chronicles, Xillia, Xillia 2, Lightning Returns, FFX/X-2 HD, and KH 1.5 HD. It's a great time to be an RPG gamer on PS3.

I don't know how many would agree with me, but the Tales games are hands down my favorite jprg series. As for the CE edition, I would just get the regular edition personally. But if you are interested at all at playing it near release, you should definitely keep a preorder for it as Tales games are hard to find after release.

I absolutely hated it. The nub on the Vita doesn't seem good for fighting games.
Lol, so is the PS3 and 360 analog sticks. Use the dpad, it makes a night and day difference.

That said, MK on vita was not bad at all. It had dumbed down graphics but literally everything else was in it.

For those who played it already, it has local co-op very similar to Tales of Xillia and Graces F right?
I haven't played the import unfortunately. However, every Tales game seems to keep the same local co-op gameplay. I would be surprised if they changed it now after this long. Couch co-op ftw.

It's mainly for the artbook but I think I'm re-thinking my "need" for artbooks.

Yeah, if it remains the same couch co-op mechanism then it will be day one CE or SE or whatever they call it for me.

Strangely, this comment really makes me want to play Soundshapes just to see what could inspire such a comment.

If you like local co-op rpgs, then you have to get Eternal Sonata if you haven't already. I'm disappointed that I haven't heard any news on a sequel to that awesome game by now. But you definitely should not miss ES. Up to 3 people can play the game at the same time.

Eternal Sonata had co-op? I had no idea. That game was awesome though; it and Lost Odyssey were two of the best games I played on the 360. Too bad used PS3 copies still go for like $30 because I've been hankering to play it again, not that I really need to with Ni No Kuni, Graces and Xillia needing to be played still.

Soundshapes is amazing so I don't get it.

I did not know that. I always looked at the game and meant to buy it but never did it for some reason. Maybe I can find a cheap copy some day when my backlog isn't so bad.

Death Mode. I downloaded it again about 5 minutes later. As frustrating as it is, it is a really neat game.

If you are going to take a loss selling a physical copy later (buy for between $10 and $15 now), if the loss you take is around $4 then you have lost the same amount as you would as if you had just bought the digital copy, the only difference is with the digital copy you could still theoretically play it in the future because you still own it. With a physical copy, you lose the same amount of money, but you are left with nothing.

My point was, only if you know that the physical copy of the game won't lose much value are you better off buying it over the digital copy. When the digital copy is so marked down that the digital copy price is approximately equal to the loss you would take reselling an unplayed physical copy months later, it is better to go with the digital copy.

I have, although we enjoy it, we did not like it as much as Tales.

I have never understood why people love Eternal Sonata so much. It had an interesting battle system, but I couldn't stand the voice acting, the story, or the characters. Maybe I was just in a bad place when I was playing it, heh.

In a bad place? Like Cleveland?
That would explain it. I don't disagree that the young characters in particular were the summation of everything wrong with characters in these sorts of games/anime. I like the story for what it was though and applaud them for trying to approach the normal RPG tropes in a somewhat novel manner. The strength of the game was definitely the gameplay though.

Crap. For some reason, I thought we were getting Stranger's Wrath, not Munch's Odyssee. I didn't like it when it was an Xbox 1 launch game - I'm certainly not going to like it now.
