Well considering you can turn off vita chambers (and with it the persistent enemy damage), I always thought it was a great compromise for those that wanted something difficult and those that wanted to just experience the world and story. I don't know if there is the option in Infinite though, though I personally never found it as easy as everyone else. I don't know, maybe I just suck at shooters
I played Bioshock Infinite on the hardest difficulty you could from the beginning and I died quite a few times haha. So you're not alone. I still enjoyed the game tremendously though.

A lot of glitchy trophies according to ps3t. :whistle2:(
i plat'd TLOU pretty easily. Collectables can be a bit glitchy, and if you're missing one, it's quite likely

There are two bodies in the room (next to each other) during the David/Ellie hoard fight. I am definite i found both in earlier playthroughs, but when i was missing one this was the one it was. I am not alone in this, because i found it thanks to a poster on another forum.

Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us, Jetpack Joyride, Bayonetta, Critter Crunch and Everyday Shooter.

All Fantastic Great Games.

Infinite Climax Mode was insane (even with all weapons / witch time dodge relic / etc)

To revisit an old topic where I preferred story over challenge on games today versus old, oh my goodness will Bioshock Infinite let go of my hand already? I realize they have the 1999 mode but that doesn't make up for the fact that I'm nearing the end and they still tell me which button to push to find the right direction or to use my vigors in battle. Ridiculous amount of hand holding for a game that has a weak story.
There is an option to turn off the contextual hints. Yeah, it's strange that they are on by default throughout the whole game. But whatever, I loved that game!

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/07/28/the-drop-week-of-july-29th-2013-new-releases/

Here's The Drop for this week:

PlayStation Network

PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD (PS Vita) – In PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD the player controls a defender-of-the-forest character in a lush environment. The player’s goal is to strategically defend the pathway to his homebase from an onslaught of various threatening monsters. In between waves of monster attacks, the player scrambles to reinforce his defenses by collecting gold coins and jewels from fallen enemies to finance new towers and research deadlier weapons.

Cloudberry Kingdom – Designed to be “the platformer to end all platformers” from the design team at Pwnee Studios, Cloudberry Kingdom is an innovative and endlessly challenging platformer that adapts to your skill level. Thanks to a dynamic AI system designed around the creator’s study of platforming games — flow, spacing, rhythm, player expectation — Cloudberry can provide a very simple and enjoyable platforming experience for inexperienced players or can ratchet up the challenge to insane (but always beatable) levels of hair-raising, face-melting difficulty.

Narco Terror – Dishing out justice, one grenade at a time! Narco Terror is an arcade twin-stick shooter about a one-man war against the drug cartel.

Puzzle By Nikoli V Slitherlink (PS Vita) – The third release from Puzzle by Nikoli series brings you the world-renowned “Slither Link” game. All fifty challenges have been carefully designed by Nikoli writers, who ensures that each solution is distinctive and different! With PlayStation Vita’s exclusive controls, games on large boards is made easier! Everyone from novices to experts is sure to lose themselves in this immersive puzzle world.

The Last Bounty Hunter – The Territory has been overrun, and you’re the last hope to rid the town of the four vicious outlaws – Handsome Harry, Nasty Dan, El Loco and the Cactus Kid. You better be quick, cause they’re looking to get you too! These crazy outlaws will lead you through the roughest areas of the Territory so be careful. There’ll be danger round every corner and shootouts with some of the fastest hands in the west so come on, use that gun!

Demos

  • Narco
  • The Last Bounty Hunter
PlayStation 2 Classics

P.T.O. IV: Pacific Theatre of Operations – The setting is 1939. The European continent is plunged into war. The globe is carved into 50 naval districts. Players must take command of Naval forces from the United States, Japan, Great Britain, or Germany. The objective is to seize control of as many districts as possible, and defend against enemy aggression. From the North Sea to Midway to Okinawa- every conquest is one step closer to victory!

are there any news on Cloudberry Kingdom being Cross-buy for the Vita?

really unsure about supporting all the PLAY games :/

Bought Critter Crunch for $0.99 only to realise I have the game on one of my gameshares... (but oh well xD)

thinking of getting

Everyday Shooter

Calling All Cars

Blast Factors

anyone has violent objections?

There's no Vita version coming anytime soon, so there's not much in the way of news on Cross Buy yet.

Everyday Shooter is a classic and a must have. Blast Factor is a neat dual-stick shooter in its own right. I'll have a gameplay video of that in a bit.

Everday shooter is an amazing little dual stick shooter. Every level is very 'musical' and very different both in visuals, music, and general mechanics. Everything in the level put together makes music, including shots and things being destroyed, etc. The same guy eventually went on to make Sound Shapes, to give a sense of what i mean. So if SS is his take on platformers, this is his take on dual stick shooters.

Worth every penny. All 99 of them.

Blast Factor is another dual stick shooter, basically. Not perfect, but certainly worth $.99. I paid more than that, but i'm a ds shooter fanatic.

Calling all cars. I do not own this, but from my understanding it's primarily a multi-player 'party' game by the guy who brought us Twisted Metal. IIRC, the servers are now down, so I'd only recommend this if you've got people to play with locally. If you do, it's supposed to be pretty fun. Again, I don't own this so it's just what I've heard.

Video Time!

Here's my gameplay video for Blast Factor, which has an interesting way to progress through the campaign:

Glad you posted that. It looks like the worst thing I've ever seen. I feel like some people might like being frustrated and annoyed when they play games, but for me it's an extreme pass.
Really? I think it looks pretty awesome. I like to see the instant restart after you die, that's a huge deal in games like this. Even a 1-2 second load screen between deaths is unacceptable.

Yeah, I hated Super Meat Boy due to its insane, frustrating difficulty, but this looks way, way worse. Glad the masochistic, hardcore gamers out there can play another crazy-hard platformer, but I'm so out, I doubt I'd even grab it for free from Plus.

for those that were complaining about the apparent difficultly of Cloudberry Kingdom based on the trailer, from the PSN blog's description:

It's an... "innovative and endlessly challenging platformer that adapts to your skill level."

I'm still not getting it, though i probably would if i'd broken down and gotten Stealth.

Yeah there are 5 adjustable difficulty levels in Cloudberry Kingdom.  I'm not saying that people who aren't interested in the game should get it (it looks like a pure platformer, so if you're not a platforming aficionado I don't see you really enjoying it) but I don't think the difficulty should be an automatic turnoff.

what is it about the vita that makes me endlessly buy more games for it?  just bought nfs: most wanted from the BB sale ($20), even though i just picked up a pile of psp games and Hotline Miami, and know i'm going to be picking up Luftrausers, Spelunky, Terrarria, and more?   Not to mention my vita backlog...

Everytime i think i show restraint (ie, not getting stealth) i end up spending more the next week.

And is odd i think i now prefer gaming on my vita more than my tv?

ps - i'm currently playing Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack on vita.   Absolute gem.  It's a sort of cross between Katamari and a platformer.  I'm only on the third world, but so far it's a great mix of charm and challenge.  It's not immensely difficult to gold star, because medal score isn't affected by time so you can take yours and a very generous checkpoint system means you can insta restart nearby if you miss anything (select pops you back to the most recent).  time is only taken into account for leaderboard scores.   highly recommended.

overall, i'm enjoying this much more than dokura, even though i did enjoy dokura.

For me, it's the ability to suspend a game at anytime. I'd rather do a room on virtues last reward or play 2 innings of baseball on the show while I'm in tr bathroom or on lunch that make vita gaming much more desirable for me.
That is what I've always loved about handheld gaming. Can't give up my vita or 3ds for anything.

Dokuro should be free tomorrow, right? Sure hope the store updates before I leave on vacation.

Despite continuing to buy games for my PS3 I haven't touched it in a week and it's all been 3DS with SMT IV or whatever on the Vita.

I only got to play a little Mutant Blobs Attack when it was free on PS+ so I keep hoping it's going to have a sale for like $3 but what I played was super fun.

That is what I've always loved about handheld gaming. Can't give up my vita or 3ds for anything.
That's a fairly new thing though, even with the DS only certain games could do that. Remember the good ole days when you would be playing something like Castlevania on the GBA and it's about to die and you haven't saved in who knows how long, or on the last levelof a GB game that didn't have saves when it shut off.

Damnit you're right haha. Don't bring me back to those days! Actually, if I couldn't suspend my game I would just press pause and hope it lasted me until I found a power source! It didn't always work as you can imagine lol.

Oh yeah, I loved that they all supported AC adapters but through the GBA I don't think I ever actually saw an actual Nintendo one so you had to end up using some awful third party thing.

The promise of Vita being able to play PS4 games via remote play while you're at school, college or work is very huge. If they pull it off, I imagine Vita sales will increase, and put the onus on developers on bringing more original titles to the handheld. Getting a quick round of BF4 at lunch or progressing Second Son's story is very appealing to me.

Hopefully it works better than remote play does with PS3, which is to say it doesn't.

The Vita is such a great piece of hardware. There are a lot of great games at this point. I guess people are turned off by the price and the memory cards but to own one is to love one. I've had mine since launch and have never been unhappy with it for a second.

For me, it's the ability to suspend a game at anytime. I'd rather do a room on virtues last reward or play 2 innings of baseball on the show while I'm in tr bathroom or on lunch that make vita gaming much more desirable for me.
Suspend is the greatest thing to come to a gaming system. I can't wait for the PS4 to do this as well.

That is what I've always loved about handheld gaming. Can't give up my vita or 3ds for anything.
Suspend is amazing on the Vita. I wish the 3DS suspend was as good. 3DS suspend works but seems to drain more battery. With the Vita I could go back a week later and my game would be ready for me. On the 3DS a week later my battery would be dead.

So glad Pixeljunk Monsters HD is coming out. Bought it for the PS3, but just not the game I want to play on the big screen. Finally play it on the Vita.

psn store down :/

edit: must have been a hiccup. had the sony is experiencing issues screen up for a bit.

No joke about the suspend on the vita. I left mine on by accident with a game suspended and came back to it over a week later and I still had a good amount of battery life left. Pretty amazing. I'm afraid to do that on my 3ds though.

Is Guacamelee going on sale any time soon?  The overwhelming praise it has gotten (including here on CAG) has made me to decide to get it sooner than later.  I don't mind paying MSRP for it since the cross buy and cross save features on the PS3 and PSV are very enticing.  Another feature I'm looking forward to trying out is using the PSV as a controller for the PS3 and, thereby, having the map constantly being displayed on the PSV screen.  Besides, I have some money left in my PSN wallet waiting to be spent!!!

Max Payne has been $10 a few times retail and I bought it one of those times, so I'll be passing on the digital version.  Pretty good price though.

Glad to see a day one discount on Pixeljunk Monsters Vita for Plus members though now I'm torn between that and MP3 since I'm probably only getting one of them. Also, Max Payne 3 was an early GTAV beta apparently:

Yeah, now that I've been playing SMT IV like crazy I'm starting to notice how bad it is compared to Vita.

overall, i'm enjoying this much more than dokura, even though i did enjoy dokura.
Agreed! I'm playing the PC version, but it is just a freaking heck of a lot of fun. It has been too long since I've played a platformer that doesn't bother with extreme difficulty or convoluted stories, it is some of the most fun I've had with a game in ages. Highly recommend ^_^

The suspend on Vita is fine, but you can't suspend one game, play another, then go back to the suspended game. As soon as you start another game it will close out the suspended game (warning you). I wish you could suspend as many games as you have available storage for, like many an emulator does.
