Anyone else get anxiety when you finish a game because you can't decide what game from your ginormous backlog to start next? Do I tackle PS+ biggens like Sleeping Dogs or Saints Row or Demons Souls or should I tackle the retail deals that have stockpiled like Mass Effect Trilogy or Ass Creed trilogy or continue with the God of War/Uncharted/inFamous sequels? Or all the damn digital PS+ mega discounted deals. Just got first PS3 in January and making up for lost time sucks.

Well Tearaway got bumped back to late November. Good for my finances but a shame because it looks lovely despite there being a lot of rear touch stuff.

I do and understand exactly what you mean. So instead of playing something that I want to play or something new I just end up playing nothing or yet more of the same old sports game/BF3/DOTA/etc. then kicking myself for not playing all these games. I've been trading and flipping far too many games I haven't ever even touched lately.

The suspend on Vita is fine, but you can't suspend one game, play another, then go back to the suspended game. As soon as you start another game it will close out the suspended game (warning you). I wish you could suspend as many games as you have available storage for, like many an emulator does.
with saving as forgiving as it is in modern games, you rarely have to go too far from a save point to the next one - what situations would you want multiple games suspended vs just starting from the last save? genuinely curious.

also, starting a new game is my favorite part! just pick the oldest ps+ backlog game and go for it.

what is it about the vita that makes me endlessly buy more games for it? just bought nfs: most wanted from the BB sale ($20), even though i just picked up a pile of psp games and Hotline Miami, and know i'm going to be picking up Luftrausers, Spelunky, Terrarria, and more? Not to mention my vita backlog...
I never owned a Sony handheld before the Vita so all of the PSP, PS1, minis and Vita specific games are new to me. That gives me a huge library to draw from!

The big thing for me is ease and portability even when I am at home. I don't always want to sit in my spare bedroom where the PS3 is located and play games on the big screen. I love to just pick up my Vita and play wherever I want and then put it down when I want with suspend. It also feels more personal. Sometimes I feel like I can't get close enough to the TV to feel like I am in a PS3 game which sounds strange I suppose but I never feel that way playing games on my Vita. Some games just feel more "right" on the Vita as well. It's been an awesome purchase for me!

Max Payne for $8 is a good deal if you didn't pick up it retail. Loved that game.

Everytime i think i show restraint (ie, not getting stealth) i end up spending more the next week.
The more perplexing mystery is why we continue to feed these illustrious backlogs. And, then, oddly enough bemoan and celebrate the practice (on a forum dedicated to financial prudence, no less). Adding to your backlog means you've already got a bunch of games you purchased and didn't even play/complete and rather than play those, you decided to buy even more games to...not play. In reality it seems just the opposite of "cheap". Like the digital equivalent of hoarding.

Suspend is amazing on the Vita. I wish the 3DS suspend was as good. 3DS suspend works but seems to drain more battery. With the Vita I could go back a week later and my game would be ready for me. On the 3DS a week later my battery would be dead.
I can go weeks without touching the vita (*cough* not that there's everrr a reason t do that, right?) and it'll still turn on. The battery life is far superior to 3ds's. I can't leave it unplugged for more than 2 days without it dying. Turning off wifi/streetpass helps, though.

Also, Max Payne 3 was an early GTAV beta apparently:
I really hope that's true. I loathed melee/shooting in GTAIV, found it serviceable in RDR and adored it in MP3 (except for the clunky bullet time). So, naturally, I'm expecting great things.

I haven't played MP3 yet so I can't speak to that but while there's always been plenty of shooting GTA was never a shooter to me. I do kind of worry that they might be going a little too extreme in that direction based on what they've shown so far but until they deliver something bad I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

That'd be the way to go if I didn't have all these giant franchise collections on disc giving me the evil eye from the shelf.

If you really can't decide, get the retail games out of the way first. The PS+ games will still be there later, but the retail games lose value sitting on your shelf.

Yeah I second go with retail. With some of these sales and prices being so low I've converted some games to digital and sold off the physical copy. I've probably even made some money at the end of the day.

I'm skipping Max Payne 3 because I have self control. It also helps that the platinum is ridiculously hard.

Lumines, for one. Games like that I might get stopped in the middle of due to life, then later I want to play something else but not lose my place in Lumines for when I get back to it. It's a not a huge deal, just something I'd like to be able to do. :) Pinball Arcade is another for the same reasons.

i just accidentally sold my copy of Max Payne 3 (my wife listed it because it was near a to-list pile). Hrm. Might have to buy this, though that defeats the purpose entirely.

For me, it's the ability to suspend a game at anytime.
suspend is awesome. can't wait to see it in use on ps4.

I only got to play a little Mutant Blobs Attack when it was free on PS+ so I keep hoping it's going to have a sale for like $3 but what I played was super fun.
if you ever get ps+ again it's yours.

The promise of Vita being able to play PS4 games via remote play while you're at school, college or work is very huge. If they pull it off, I imagine Vita sales will increase, and put the onus on developers on bringing more original titles to the handheld. Getting a quick round of BF4 at lunch or progressing Second Son's story is very appealing to me.
at launch, you really should only count on it working extremely well at home. not only does the ps4 have dedicated hardware to support remote play, but it basically bypasses your router, etc - it's a direct connect between your ps4 and vita. which means it should work very well at home.

however... as soon as you're not at home, you'll introduce net latency. so it will be ymmv all the way. it really depends and we won't know for awhile. however, for games that are turn based, etc, it should be fine regardless. it's basically just sending compressed video, so it possible even action games could be good with a solid net connection... but temper you expectations except for at home play.

Hopefully it works better than remote play does with PS3, which is to say it doesn't.
there's no doubt it will. ps3 wasn't built for it and didn't have the memory for it. ps4 is built from the ground up to support and enable it, with dedicated hardware so as not to limit developers. plus it's supported automatically at the system level for all games (not requiring move). there's no doubt it will work worlds better, at home. however, outside of that it's up to the net gods. you're not going to be able to play infamous:ss on the subway, ever.

I have that dilemma even in the middle of games. But to answer your question... Demon's Souls, obviously.

That's been there since they announced it so no idea.

if you ever get ps+ again it's yours.
I meant to have said that I played Mutant Blobs Attack on that free HK PS+ trial but missed it on the US PS+ because I only jumped to the Sony side this year.

The game will be available exclusively on PS3 this holiday, in stores and on PlayStation Network for an MSRP of $29.99.

I wonder if this will be one of those PSN code in a box things?

Also, if PS4 has suspend, I hope that one can suspend as many games as you have room for, because otherwise I'm not exactly sure what the point is of it. You can just pause a console without worrying about running out of power (well, short of a power failure). I guess it will save electricity, so that's good, but from a gamers standpoint I don't see anyone getting too excited about it.

I think suspend is so you can stop playing and come back the next day or later, and not have to go back from a checkpoint.

But you are right it is not useful for short stops.

I'm pretty sure it's because while they're not pushing the media features anywhere near the way MS is doing that they're still going to be there. I imagine that suspend is going to be there to help facilitate those features usage. Also I haven't done it with the PS3 but I've left 360 games running in the past as I fell asleep or had something distract me for hours and the system's gotten wicked hot which shouldn't be surprising because it's still running. It'll still be in system memory and an active thread but the system likely won't be doing anything other than maintaining that information at least.

I think suspend is so you can stop playing and come back the next day or later, and not have to go back from a checkpoint.

But you are right it is not useful for short stops.
Overnight or having something come up seem to be the most practical applications since you don't see games with hours between being able to save anymore.

Along the way, Dokuro must switch between his Skeleton and Hero forms to utilize his various skills and abilities. The definitive PixelJunk Monsters experience! Tikiman the Forest Defender is in trouble. But as events spiral out of his control, Max Payne finds himself alone on the streets of an unfamiliar city, desperately searching for the truth and fighting for a way out.

If it's God Of War 2 I say go for that. I recently played through it...great game. I've been on a quest lately to complete the should have already played it pile.

That's what I'm leaning towards since I'm furthest along in it & the plat seems easy enough. I'm far along in Ass Creed 1 too, but I have no motivation to play it besides to get to the Ezio trilogy I shouldn't have just bought cheap.

So a cursory glance of the Max Payne 3 DLC would seem to indicate that all of it is multiplayer DLC. I assume Multiplayer is dead by this point since it came out over 14 months ago?

some of the dlc is single player and co op. they added a co op mode, and they have black and white or arcade rush something for single player also, but yeah mostly mp.

it was a fail on my part to buy the $5 dlc packs a month (or few) ago. i wish i would have waited and got that ultimate pack for $12.

oh wells, fantastic game, but i guess i will stick to disk because the tiv is nill everywhere.(eh maybe gamestop $5 last reported value)

Its been like that for like 3 months. Anyways the two bestbuys I have been to in my area completely removed the 4 and 16 GB Vita card sections. Only the 8 and 32 are carried here now. Im guessing bigger memory cards may be inbound possibly.
I don't think it's an indication of bigger memory cards so much as stores trying to get rid of an item that at best doesn't sell quickly, and at worst is an easy target for theft. Gotta make room for those Skylanders toys.

PS: Anyone have the official Vita in ear headsets? Worth the $11 or so shipped or should I just use another cheap pair of ear buds on the go? Since it will constantly be stuffed into a carrying case I don't really want to beat up on a more expensive pair of headphones. Plus I'm cheap.

The headphones are awesome. Especially when I lay down and play right before bedtime since the GF complains about any little noise I just put the headphones on. And they have a built in mic as well. Just takes some getting used to having them in your ear.

Well, I'm easy to convince, plus the reviews on Amazon are pretty damn good. I'm almost always using earbuds so I shouldn't mind the fit and the mic should be a nice bonus. (Another plus, the order is being fulfilled by Amazon but the seller is out of state, so no tax. I had forgotten how nice tax free, online buying was. No 9% for me, today.)

Just bought Max Payne 3 used a couple weeks ago with the B2G1 Best Buy deal. Seems I should have bought another title instead and waited on this deal, but I'll survive with the physical copy unless the online community is still active and makes the bundle worthwhile.

another vita game this week? that blows for non vita owners.
I don't really see the argument here. They're not giving out less free PS3 games because of the Vita. It's just that the first 2-3 weeks are for PS3, the last 2 of the month are for Vita. Vita only owners also seem to complain during the PS3 weeks so I suppose there's really no way for Sony to win on this one.

I didn't know that, so you're saying the first 3 tuesdays are for ps3 games and the last 2 tuesdays are for vita?
Yeah. It's due to Vita PS+ launching at the end of November, so they've kept that basic structure with PS3 for the first half and Vita for the second half.
