Red Dead Redemption- Out Now
Pretty sure I got the GC, so good to know it's taking a while. Thanks!
Are they shipping the GC or just applying the credit in-cart? I haven't gotten anything yet from my pre-order.

They usually just send a notification email with a gift card #. You just apply that online.
Add gamertag "CAG Posse" as a friend. Then, when you're playing multiplayer, look at CAG Posse's friends list to find CAGs to invite to your game. It's essentially just a list of CAGs who are interested in playing RDR online, and doesn't require you to add every one of us to your friends list.
Sent a request. Loving the game so far. Last night, I kept getting side track between Stranger missions, collecting plants, & helping random people. MP is a lot of fun as well.
Is there anyway to skip the little "Skin Animal" Scene? I think its boring and takes up too much time.
Not that I've seen. That's why it takes a different amount of time to skin different animals most likely.
Is there anyway to skip the little "Skin Animal" Scene? I think its boring and takes up too much time.
Not that I found, however sometimes it glitches and skips the animation and doesn't change the animal's appearance but still credits you with the skin and meat

I thought it was kind of weird. Also sometimes the looting animation doesn't appear. I noticed that last night. Hopefully patching will fix it.

I killed my horse than skinned it.

sidebar---->

I have an 8 year old daughter and probably watch too much Hannah Montana but John Marston sounds exactly like Billy Ray Cyrus to me.

Haha speaking of glitches, (this happened two days ago), when I was in Armadillo I saw a really funny one. Obviously there's the flying horse and wagon glitch which is on youtube, I almost had to duck when that flew into the air flying towards me but there was another one that was just hilarious. A stage coach or a horse and wagon, can't remember the specifics, was riding into Armadillo and as it turned onto Main Street it was like it ran into an invisible rock (maybe one of those invisible blocks that were in Keen or the Mario games) and the whole thing toppled over like it turned to the right too fast. Hahhaha funniest thing I've seen in the game so far.

Did Pike's Basin last night and got off my horse because I had to help out the "Funny Man" so I didn't get any of the bonuses like 3 kills with deadeye, lasso a bandit and do everything via on horseback. Luckily you can retry that event as many times as you want.:D

I completed the game and got the 100G achievement, but there is still a story related achievement called "Nurture or Nature" I have not got yet and there are no more story missions left on my map. I've also found every location in the game but am still short 3 strange quests (I think these might be related to outfits though--I might need to gather certain supplies for outfits in order to start the stranger quest or something).

Does anyone know how/when you get the Nurture or Nature achievement though?
Is there anyway to skip the little "Skin Animal" Scene? I think its boring and takes up too much time.
Park your horse right on top of the animal and when you press Y you'll have skinned the animal (although it won't look different) and be getting back on your horse instantly. The only thing is, I'm not sure if it'll still count towards hunting challenges if you don't properly skin the animal. You might need to look into that.

Since there are varying lists out there. I've just unlocked Unnatural Selection, here is what I've killed (nothing more/nothing less):

Armadillo
Bear
Beaver
Bighorn
Boar
Bobcat
Buffalo
Chicken
Cougar
Coyote
Crow
Deer
Dog
Duck
Eagle
Elk
Fox
Hawk
Domestic Horse
Wild Horse
Owl
Pig
Rabbit
Raccoon
Seagull
Skunk
Snake
Songbird
Vulture
Wolf

Also for Manifest Destiny

The Buffalo eventually respawn. I killed 16 and lost the last 4. I then found the last 4 to watch 1 of them take a header off the cliff. I just found the last one roaming the Plains. So they will respawn if they kill themselves.
Does anyone know how/when you get the Nurture or Nature achievement though?
Pretty sure it's a stranger mission for Jack
Can you redo gang hideouts online? I went to one that was being finished by someone else and I got credit for it.
Yes. Just go away from the area for a second then come back and it will reactivate.

Thanks for ruining the game for me ;)

I think he sounds like Johnny from TL&D. A internet search revealed that this is not the case.
Yes. Just go away from the area for a second then come back and it will reactivate.
Or just click left on the D-pad after completing the hideout. That's the "Replay" button. If you hit right on the D-pad, that's the "Continue" button, and you'll have to go away from the hideout and then come back for the enemies to respawn.

Alright, so I beat the game and I'm trying to get the completion achievement. I'm following a guide that lists everything required and I'm now finishing up the 18 stranger quests. Problem is, even after knowing about and visiting the locations of the last 3 strangers I need to meet, they won't appear. The quests remaining are, Jenny's Faith, California, and Aztec Gold.

Can someone help me figure out how I am supposed to get these three stranger quests to appear for me postgame? I'm going crazy here.

This probably wont help you but California showed up for me like right at the beginning of the game, it was one of the first ones I got done. Haven't done Jenny's Faith or Aztec Gold so can't comment there.

California is in the outskirts of Gaptooth, he's camping behind a pair of rocks playing the harmonica (so listen for that). I activated him in the evening, not sure if that matters.

Aztec Gold is in Sidewinder Gulch. When I activated my "track" feature on one of my outfits it placed the purple dot in that area. I met a guy deep in the gulch and he was a stranger.

I believe Jenny's Faith was outside Armadillo at the church. You had to search for this old lady's husband, if I recall correctly.

I'm having issues understanding which wild horses to use... like, is this one faster than that one, etc... Is there any way to compare horses besides just looking at them and/or trying them? And I thought I saw something about your horse improving if you continually use it... is that tracked somewhere? Thanx.

Thanks for the help guys, I found Jenny's Faith and I'm gonna try to run around near the location of the other two and see if that activates the quests.

One last problem I'm having with the 100% completion is the bounties. I need to complete 4 more New Austin bounties and 6 more Nueveo Paraiso (Mexico) bounties. Is there a method to get bounties to appear in town faster or do you just have to hang out around those areas and wait for them to eventually pop up? Also, what towns in New Austin and Mexico give bounties so I know which to loiter around.

Update on the code, the hyphens were apparently the trick. Guy said it worked for him. Whew, thank shit for that.

Got into Mexico in the game now. Thinking about heading back and doing some more challenge hunting though. And is it possible to tie lassoed people to things, like the random "Guys on horses dragging some dude and firing wildly into the air" event? Might be fun to mess with but I haven't noticed a way to do it yet.

I ran into a weird glitch after coming back to America. It's the mission where you
go with Nastas and the professor to meet with a gang. During the cutscene, you shoot 3 of the gangsters.
But then as soon as the cutscene ended it said FAILED in big red letters, and underneath it said a gangster has died. You can't control what happens during the cutscene. They die no matter what. I hit A to retry from checkpoint, and this time I failed the mission DURING the cutscene >_>

I think if you lasso them and just hold onto LT you can drag them behind you.

Go to
The Blackwater train station when you play as Jack and do stranger quest, I think it is called Remember my Family. You get to tie up the last loose end.

I started a mission in Mexico and after the cutscene, the carriage I was driving was literally falling from the sky. This happened about 4 or 5 times but thankfully it went away after that, weird, weird, glitches in this amazing game.

Haha so I decided to ride shotgun with the stage coach driver and watch the entire trip instead of skipping to destination. We were ambushed along the way so I set up my deadeye and shot all four of them behind the driver. Since my gun was pointed at the driver he jumped off and the stage coach ran over him. He ran away and I was in charge of driving the stage coach but the interface showed next location, previous location and the destination by pressing A. I pressed forward and the horses started to move forward, then I hit A and they went faster but I got the sfx as if I had selected a destination lol.

Also does everybody find it funny when you have people talking about you in Poker and not really understanding that they're playing Poker with you.
Amazon is sending out the GC's from pre-ordering finally. Just got mine this morning.
Same here. Looks like they'll work with any Amazon purchase, which is nice, though my next Amazon order will likely be a game anyway :D

Well, my Amazon preorder copy has yet to be delivered (it's past the estimated delivery date) so I emailed Amazon about it to see what the deal is. I've been playing my Target copy with my Gold Guns Amazon bonus and would like the Amazon copy to come in so I can return it to Target sooner than later :p Anyone else still waiting for their Amazon preorder (w/ FSSS)?

Isn't there an achievement for hogtying a woman, putting her on the train tracks and have her get run over by a train? I tried this with a hooker yesterday and I didn't get the achievement.

Err...did anyone else get two Golden Guns codes? One was emailed to me immediately after it shipped, and I just opened the game case now to find another inside. Are there like different versions of the same code, or will this one work too (the other one is already activated)?

It's called the Dastardly achievement: http://kotaku.com/5542271/red-dead-redemptions-truly-truly-dastardly-achievement
I think it's a specific woman you have to do it too. I'm not sure though. I haven't even tried it.
I did it with the woman who tricks you into getting ambushed on the side of the road (she's the only woman in the game so far that I felt deserved it), but my understanding is that it works with any woman.

This is a mistake on Amazon's part and has happened to a lot of people. Consider yourself lucky :)

I got 2 codes. One emailed and One in the box. I passed mine along to a buddy who bought from best buy and didn't get the War Horse.

You have to watch her explode as well. I got Horse Jacked by some chick so when I whistled for my horse's return she got bucked off. I hogtied her and dropped her ass on the tracks.

I did see her get taken out...although my horse got in on that too, maybe the horse getting taken out almost at the same time denied me the achievement.

I'll have to try this again later.

Wow, I will, haha. I sold the other one for $20 on ebay, so if I can sell this one for the same, and including the $20 Amazon gift card, I will essentially MAKE money by buying this game. I think I just became a true CAG.

I definitely would if I wasn't jobless and already feeling guilty about buying RDR in the first place. I have to remain in super cheap mode for the time being. :(

can i just join a random free roam and then go from blackwater to escelera(spelling) and get there before sundown I'lll get achieve, whats the best time to start and best horse?

For those that asked it was the in game Gentleman's Suit I was talking about and it still isn't showing up even though I followed the whole process. Doesn't seem like anyone has the issue here, but a google search seems to indicate that quite a few people are having problems with it. I wonder if I start a new that it could be available.

I had an issue with it yesterday. It wasn't showing up in my wardrobe even though I have already unlocked it and used it. I went into the social club within the game, pressed Y and it confirmed that I was already linked. When I went back to the game, it was there for me to select it. Game has a few quirky glitches but its definitely one of my favorite games of all time, better than GTA, but that might be because I prefer the wild west setting.

Really enjoying the game, and already a strong GOTY in my eyes. Other than a few minor bugs (none of which have been game stopping and presumably easily fixed), it does so many things from story to gameplay a lot better than even GTAIV.

this game is aweosme but ME2 is still my GOTY (although not even close to done with the single player campaign of RDR yet)

I agree this is def GOTY material but I do think ME2 is better. It's hard to compare and to think we're only half way done with 2010. Also to think that nobody will care about these games when Starcraft II comes out and gets GOTY lol.

Edit: Used my $20 GC to get Split/Second!

Even had a girl flag me down for help that was an ambush. Killed them, tied her up and then put bait on her as she "deserved" the train too, but I didn't want to lead her around on another horse. Even broke three horses with the first one tied up on my horse. Then I tried shooting and armadillo for a hunter level up and while lining up the shot from horseback I hit my horse. Headshot! and he toppled over.

Finally, she disappeared while clearing Pike's Basin so I just went into Armadillo with the train approaching, put on my mask, walked into the casino and lassoed a hooker and put her on the tracks in town. Then helped the nearby nun!

So I finally got the Deadly Assassin outfit made and the shit is SO cash. I'm almost never out of Dead Eye. I've played about 15 hours and I'm still not out of the first area though I am about to assault Fort Mercer, but I may do a little bit more exploring and hunting before then.
