Eh. Skyborn looked interesting enough that I spent the .99 cents now rather than see how high the price got.

can i just play offline, only go online only when i need NPC help and achieve the same end result?
If you're using DSFix, which you absolutely should, there is a utility called DSVFix that was designed to protect you from certain kinds of hacks. According to the page, this issue was patched: "Please note: DSVfix is not required right now, as the latest patch does exactly what DSVfix used to, and probably more. It seems to be the 1.08 patch PS3 players got, which fixes stat draining, malicious warps and allows free level ups if you've been drained in the past. And probably more. I do plan on adding more features to DSVfix, however, so stay tuned!"

[SIZE=14.4444446563721px]I think the game experience loses something if not played online, and I encourage you to at least try it. Play offline only if you absolutely cannot stand it.[/SIZE]

I think there's going to be a new Indie Royale soon-ish. Whenever he starts blabbering about dumb shit on Twitter it usually means that.

Since they just launched a good one yesterday and the last crap Greenlight one just ended it will probably be another crap Greenlight one.

Hopefully fixed price so I can go to the bathroom.

*Edit: Yep, Indie Royale Mystery 3 bundle lunching in a few minutes. :puke:

My bladder is safe.

*Edit2:

The Mystery 3 Bundle will be made up of 10 games. 8 from Steam, one Greenlit and one in Greenlight . All windows, 2 Mac , 1 Linux.[/customspoiler]

Expect lots of repeats or else that shit wouldn't be a mystery.

*Edit 3: 99 cents with 2.5 games showing. Price to increase as more are revealed over the two weeks it runs. Again, expect repeats.

So far:
Skyborn
Depth Hunter 2: Deep Dive
Depth Hunter 2: Ocean Mysteries

There's two of them? The latter is DLC apparently.

Also Gala Happy Hour is on for [customspoiler=the current the Friday bundle.]
Cloning Clyde
Wake - Lunar Pack
Lunnye Devitsy - Lunar Pack
Runes of Brennos
The Desolate Hope
Five Nights at Freddy's
Theatre Of The Absurd
Hunters Of The Dead
9th Company: Roots Of Terror
Mythos: The Beginning
[/customspoiler]
So many mediocre games, so little time

I played some Civ: Beyond Earth last night. I don't know what to think.

It just feels like Civ V with a mod, there's not much of a divergence from its predecessor. You land on a planet, build a city, expand, fight off the locals, and research stuff. Apart from the setting there really isn't much different.

I'm wondering if there's some fundamental shift at the end-game stage, or whether I should stop murdering the local wildlife in a Hugh Fearnley-Whittingsall manner, surely there has to be something different about it?

If I'd paid full price, or even 50% off for this, I'd be feeling short-changed.

I did enjoy myself, mind.

:whee:
Yea it could have been a mod, but it does add a few things

The researching is different obviously so you can actually aim your research instead of just researching the same crap each game like in civV. The wildlife can play into it if you aim your affinity towards the planet. Its mainly the affinity thing which tries to be different, it lets you give certain abilities to units and gives you different end-game goals. Though the last time I played it some of those were so out of whack they were un-winnable or at the very least very not fun to even try. Theres also the whole satellite layer but at this point its fairly gimmicky and feels like it was just created to be able to eliminate the 'miasma' threat that was introduced and occasionally bombard enemies

Theres a couple other things here and there, but in the end it is civ V in space. For me the current 4x game to play is endless legend, even though it is endless space on a planet there are more than enough differences and change in play style.

If you've never played a Kings Bounty game, then perhaps you should. I played through Armored Princess a while back and enjoyed it a LOT. That said, I don't see much difference between Armored Princess/Crossworlds/ Warriors In The North. The new one looks like more of the same.

Advice: buy AP/Crossworlds/WitN from the Trade Thread and play that instead. They're all pretty much the same game and the older titles were bundled a while ago.
I played a little bit of Armored Princess and liked it but never went back to it. Really, I just want someone to say that Dark Side is amazing so I can drop the rest of my BC's on it and feel like I got a good deal rather than just more backlog junk. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

The locals and miasma can be good or bad depending on how you direct your research/affinity. The game is still a tad shallow and not all that balanced, but they never intended this to be the completed game -- there will be at least two full expansions and a few big patches, and by then the game will be pretty sweet and pretty cheap and the next game will be about to come out. :D

I tried the demo a while back and that's how I felt too. Nice but much like a Civ V mod or expansion. I like Civ V but I don't know that I need to Fakeybro essentially the same game over again with a different setting. I'll wait. Plus it's 2K so you know there's going to be lots of DLC and several Complete (PSYCHE!) Versions.

The satellite thing and the trade routes let you get some nice bonuses, but they are a pain in the ass to keep going for a whole game.

I hate those IndieRoyale mystery bundles....so many repeats. I'm also going to stop pre-ordering Groupees Build a Greenlight bundle. The last 2 just weren't very good IMHO...i'll just wait and pass on most of them.

Some of the folks who bought Grid Autosport from FunStock finally got their keys yesterday so you might check if you bought it.  I still do not have mine.

Yeah, I saw that on Reddit. One guy was talking to them and they refused to state who their supplier was, which heavily implies it's not direct from the publisher and that they are in fact a grey market key site.

The rep there did tell someone who still hadn't gotten their key yesterday to contact him though, so there's that.

GTA 5 Pre-Order is live

PRE-PURCHASE BY FEBRUARY 1 AND GET $1,000,000 IN-GAME PLUS A BONUS $300,000 AND A BONUS GAME
Pre-purchase and get $1,000,000 in-game ($500,000 for Grand Theft Auto V and $500,000 for Grand Theft Auto Online).

Pre-purchase by February 1 and get a bonus $300,000 for Grand Theft Auto Online and a bonus digital download of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on PC.

Thanks! Grabbed IL-2 1946.

For anyone considering the H1Z1 early access, here's an online trial: http://h1z1simulator.com/
Wasn't it .99 cents at some point? Now it's $19.99?

Edit:

Never mind, confused it with sZone Online. Too many shitty zombie MMOs, unless this is the long awaited Sony zombie MMO?

Double Edit:

It is the Sony MMO, but it appears to be a P2W F2P game that is currently charging you to play in EA but is still P2W even though you have to pay at least $20 up front. Looks like I will skip it for now (and probably won't play it all that much even once it launches since P2W tends to be no fun if you don't pay anything).

Or you can wait for the 5,486 times in inevitably will go on sale.

Admittedly though without Tony pushing Rockstar for Steam keys we'll be stuck having to buy it straight from Steam, but still I expect no shortage of sales on it there even.

Or we could buy a version of it that requires D2D Securom or Playfire on top of Rockstar Social Network and whatever other crap disc based DRM they shove on it.

Or you can wait, but its not going to go onsale at a decent discount for a while. Even if it goes on sale on the other retailers, its Rockstar DRM version. Steam version is exclusive to Steam. I like my updates through Steam whenever possible.

I pre-ordered. I have the $ and I wanted it, so now I have it. And it will be delayed again and I will cry. But Ill still see it in my library dammit.

Debatable. LA Noire dropped to cheap sale prices on Steam really fast and while I realize it's nowhere near as popular as GTA, I wouldn't necessarily rule it out. Rockstar loves sales.

I guess if it's still selling gangbusters in the top 10 months after release probably not but we'll see how well it's received and how the port is. Part of the problem with them waiting so long to do a PC release too is that many people who wanted it long since bought it on consoles.

At any rate, with their history of ports I don't think pre-ordering is such a great idea. And giving bonus cheat money for GTA V or their crappy MMO, or copies of their old games that have been on sale a kajillion times isn't exactly motivating me either.

Their latest game says otherwise (Max Payne 3 was fantastic) and the requirements being so low make me think otherwise as well. I'm not worried about that.

And comparing LA Noire to GTA is hardly on par lol there is no "but still" when comparing the two. They gave LA Noire away for free when Max Payne 3 was a pre-order.

GTA wont see a decent discount (30% or more) until Winter sale, probably 25-30 at Summer.

But if you are going to use Max Payne 3 as an example, that has also been on sale a kajillion times and not that long after release either.

Also pre-ordering in general is just a bad idea. Do what you all want but it just encourages all sorts of bad things from publishers and developers to lend them money today for a hamburger on Tuesday.

Anyway it's Friday and I'm not in the mood for some bullshit I'm right you're wrong I win at the internets argument so fuck it, just go pre-order and knock yourself out. I'm waiting.

This doesn't begin to compare to the legendary AMD bundle for a buck, but Newegg is selling the AMD Reward Gift - Online Game Code for $9.99. The code redeems on AMD's reward site for a single game.

Choose from:

  • LEGO Batman 3
  • Sniper Elite 3
  • Murdered: Soul Suspect
  • Thief
  • Sonic Racing Transformed
Thanks for that tip! I've had a code like this sitting around since late last year, but was waiting for them to add something I didn't own to it. LEGO Batman 3 will do just fine.

And of course this happens because, cesspool.

Seems AMD added a hurdle to key resellers. They want a textable mobile phone number to send an activation code to. If you resist and only give them your email, then your account is on hold for at least 24 hours.

This occurred to me, even though I was using an account I'd previously activated and used a Gold reward on.

X-Note has cards:

X2ZGqS7.png

Why?

WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????

Was wondering why the older game cost more, and it looks like they converted all base games into complete ones. I never bought any of its DLC, but I own it all now.

Not bad, but still not really motivating me to move it up in the backlog.
It's not a bad game, it's basically just Civ V with wizards. There's a few things that add a different spin on it like portals and such but to me it still comes off really Civ V ish, which is not a bad thing at all.

Will wait for GOG version...

Or you could never buy it ever because it's Rockstar AND GTA which are complete garbage. Unless of course you happen to be in the target age range (12-13) for this kind of gutter trash.

Oh it's totally ghetto and juvenile.

And I will still buy it when it's cheap (on Steam), because. :p

Hay guyz every1 has 2 hav da saem taste in gaems as mee or u r a gay noob 12 yr old vurgin lololz

Well that's good to know, and I can pass that along to the Civ 5 fans I know. Still, it's going to take that game a while to crawl up my backlog.

I do vaguely remember playing the beta for a bit.

Yeah, Max Payne 3 was -50%, ~6 weeks after release.

I guess I'm waiting on GTA V. 60€ is bit too much and it's not like I don't have games to play and preorder extras suck ass.

In fact money cheat as preorder extra is pushing me away from preorder :p

So GMG and Nuuvem are saying they give Rockstar codes to redeem there for the download, but Rockstar's store is run by Digital River who infamously had time limited downloads on past stores they ran such as Ubisoft in the pre-UPlay days.

I'm kind of curious as to how the non-Steam digital version will work out. I wonder if those people will get shafted with one time download only or can only download for 30 days or some shit like that. They don't seem to have a full robust service like Valve/EA/Ubi or anything like that.

My guess is, there will be full client before game is out.

Interesting. They've never had one before. They must think this game is hot shit enough to build a service around I guess.

That being said, it someone must pre-order it seems like Steam is the safer bet since no one quite knows what is going on with the non-Steam digital version.

*Edit: so I found this and it was updated recently too.

Manual Link to Social Club Application Download

Question: Where can I find the manual link to the latest version of Social Club for Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire on PC?

Answer: Below is the manual link to the Social Club application:

http://patches.rockstargames.com/prod/socialclub/Social%20Club%20v1.1.0.6%20Setup.exe

Please note that this same application is used by both L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3. Grand Theft Auto IV does not use this application, and no longer requires a separate Social Club app as of Patch 7.
But if you download, install and try to run it you get this:

rVlZdEx.png

So yeah, no separate client outside of the games. Yet.
