I'll agree with the crowd that Leliana's Song was pretty good. Witch Hunt was sort of eh, like they figured people wanted more Morrigan but didn't know what to do with her so they just made it virtually a cut scene at the end. I didn't care for Awakening at all; the few returning people felt off-character and the plot was... hell, I couldn't even tell you. There were two sorta-boss battles and I'm not sure how they even connected any more. To build up your team, you were expected to hand out Gray Warden memberships like they were samples at the supermarket and, amusingly, every single person ended the game telling me that they were quitting the Wardens thus making me the absolute worst recruiter ever. Well, Anders didn't quit, he got shot through the throat with an arrow which was awesome because Anders is a piss-sack and I was deeply disappointed to see him retconned back to life into DA2. That's only a quasi-spoiler by the way since you'll have to find your own plot path to that possibility. On the plus side, I had a great record on people surviving the binding process putting me into the Gray Warden Hall of Fame books in two separate categories.

The in-game Origins DLC was okay. Shale was good (and is free now anyway) and the two gear-driven ones at least were entertaining to do. I never played the "Be a Darkspawn" DLC and feel as though not many other people did either since it never gets mentioned.
Eh, to each their own. I really liked Awakening. I didn't care too much for the mini-dlc campaigns (Leliana/Morrigan), but I thought the ones that blended into the base game were fine. The Darkspawn dlc is terrible. Played it for about 5 mintues, seems like it's just the final battle except instead of your party you're a darkspawn.

I'm assuming these guys are forced out at Valve. Otherwise, why would you leave a job that paid you $100k+ where you do almost nothing for years and years and years. I cannot even comprehend how a writer at Valve puts in more than ten hours of work a week -- what content are you writing exactly?
He might have it in his contract that anything he creates is owned by Valve and he wanted to go and do some real writing... but, I agree with you outside of checking his company email account what has this guy been doing since Portal 2 shipped?

Kind of a late response, but a suggestion just occurred to me. First of all, if you haven't already done so, check the list that BellardB posted.

From that list, I would suggest The Sabotuer. It's not on Steam, and likely never will be. Although it is on Origin, and it's been cheep there in the past. So you might already own it there. If not, give that some thought. You could certainly do worse. It's only $3.99 in the US store, or $1.22 if you're cool with using a VPN to buy from the Russian store.
Any Russia-travelling bros willing to pick up a copy of Saboteur on GOG for me? I can send Paypal.

Thanks!

Last night, Spoder scheduled a game no one owns - Outbreak.

Thankfully, Jimbo found a copy and my real life bro bought the bundle to join us.

It's a co-operative rogue-like version of the original Resident Evil.  Like the original RE, the controls can be frustrating (though they give you plenty of options to make them better) and the game is super hard.  We finished the tutorial, but we could never finish any of the other levels as we would all die.

The difficulty adds to the replay value as you have to re-do levels and memorize where you found certain keys, etc.

Graphics are a step down, I mean it's like 2D with cartoony, RPG-makerish enemies.  The dogs look like pigs.

Still, it's a fun game and one of the better bundle fodder games we've played so I'd play it again.

Do you know how long they worked on phrasing the "Is this relevant to you?" question to help guide you to games??????? It really tied the room games together!!!

Thank Reds. He was able to track down a copy for me.

I don't think it's a rogue-like or rogue-lite. When you die, you die for good, but there's no progression after dying aside from weird item/steam inventory system. I do like how it tries to be a Resident Evil clone, but my god those are some of the worst generic enemy designs I've ever seen. That pink dog is laughable. I was reading on the forum that they use premade RPG maker assets, so maybe that explains why they're so bad. I think I'd like the game a bit more if I practice, so I wouldn't mind giving it another shot. There's another mode we didn't try too, but I skipped it considering we couldn't complete any campaign levels yet.

I think the dev is working on Outbreak 2, which will be in 3D so that'll be something to look forward to.

Anyway, after resetting the PC, it worked fine for a bit, then I restarted my PC after being prompted to and got a BSOD. Now it's not wanting to boot at all. I guess I need to do a fully clean installation.

Any ideas how to circumvent having to do that? I can't figure out how to boot into safe mode either.
What do you mean by not wanting to boot at all? Is it saying there is no boot media? Occasionally I get that with my ssd if there was a power failure (like I had last night) and I have to completely unplug my system, let it sit for a few sec, turn it back on

then this is the key part you may want to check, go in to your bios and make sure your boot device is set correctly. I know on my mobo with ssd glitches sometimes my boot device gets reset and so it will complain it cant boot when really my windows drive isnt selected

Yeah I did change my boot device, it's got the UEFI as number one.

What I mean is it will go to the logo of windows 10 with the little spinning circle at the bottom and just sit there for 30-40 minutes until the computer goes idle, then when I wake it its just a black screen.

Wondering if a fresh install will just be a good idea at this point

Unfortunately, you can't gift games at regional prices. When you try to do so, it reverts to the US prices.

If you're looking to get games at the regional prices, the only option is to buy them yourself using a VPN. Sorry man.

This was happening to me after the creators update and when I was doing some updates after that. And like you, I initially though something was wrong or screwy. But then I just left it there and came back the next day and Windows was booted and all updates were installed so I think some of the updates after Creator can just take forever depending on the computer. How long did you leave it like that to see if that was the case?

Because I had the same issue, leaving during an update and coming back to a black screen thinking it had frozen or something.

I second this. I updated a laptop the other day and the updates took hours. I just ended up booting the laptop and then coming back 12 or so hours later and it was working just fine.

In news about games no one gives a shit about cause they sucked during a bronight, big deformers update:

http://www.deformers.com/deformers-reformed-update/

thats alot of words to say they added offline play, cross platform, some tutorials, and are throwing everyone 30k silver in-game currency (like anyone gives a crap about their microtransactions), and 50% off sale on all platforms

It's usually F8 before Windows boots.

Which is precisely what it is. It would be a dubious offering if you were forced to buy it separately, but as an option in the package it's a semi-entertaining diversion.

Having just spent 100+ hours marching my party around Ferelden, there was a certain perverse pleasure in seeing them meet their demise with my hordes of Darkspawn. There's nothing "not to like" really, as it's more or less a twist on the last 30 minutes or so of gameplay. If you like DA:O, you shouldn't be too offended by the Darkspawn DLC... unless you feel like you paid too much for the whole package or had to buy that DLC on its own or something.

bros have played worse. its probably just a shade lower than the level needed to get a replay.

I will set my own arm on fire before playing Payday 2 again.
I was never a huge fan of payday 2 either.

They never did say if it was going to be cheaper to buy the DLC after the update hits. Meh.
The dlc cost far too much even on sale.

Edit:" PAYDAY 2: Ultimate Edition will cost $45 and will include all previously released content*!"

http://www.overkillsoftware.com/games/payday2-ultimate-edition/

Currently the dlc cost $28.30

man havent seen that accolade logo in a long time, had to look up that history. I guess infogrames bought accolade, then infogrames went out of business and is now owned by atari. So I expect nothing but garbage from that

It could have been far worse.

I loved Bubsy as a kid (I think I played them on Genesis, probably still have them in a box somewhere). On the unlikely chance that the new one is good, cool beans.

Personally, it was the least fun I've ever had on a bro night, and I'm including garbage like SurvHive which was at least good for a few laughs.
Deformers wasn't that bad, but I show up to most bronights so I've experienced a lot more shittier games probably. I think the worst one for me (excluding stuff that we couldn't get started or people had trouble joining) might have been Arkshot. Masked Shooters 2 was much more fun in comparison so that's saying something..

Arkshot was really bad but I think SurvHive has it beat.  Arkshot was a crappy shooter but it was fairly straight-forward even if it wasn't any fun.  SurvHive was just a barrel of WTF.

Not sure if this is an error or not, but according to this Madden is coming out on PC this year. Part of me thinks its an error because it would have been part of a bigger announcement, but it would make sense with Origin doing well for EA to bring Madden back to PC. Also, the executive who was against keeping Madden on PC left in February, so its possible I guess.

It also says that NBA Live 18 will be on PC as well. I hope this is true and NHL 18 comes to PC as well!

SurvHive was funny in its badness. Arkshot wasn't. If a game can't make me laugh it's gotta be the worst of the worst for me. Also SurvHive supported way more than 4 players at a single time. I think Arkshot may have been one of the worst designed shooters I've played. Who makes a shooter that only supports 4 players these days?

King Arthur's Gold was the worst, although I've dropped out of so many events after 5-10 minutes that I'm sure there's some other abominations I have forgotten.

I really really hope that's true. I have Madden 08 (the last Madden on PC) modded up with current rosters and whatnot and it's decent, but EA really raised the bar on the series two years ago. That would be an easy pre-order from me.

Parallacks makes clear on a regular basis that our scintillating presence and astute conversation is not enough to make him stick around through a shitty game. Keeps us humble.

I didn't really think Arkshot was that bad.  I've played it in the MP servers without the bros and my biggest complaint was the expert pros who dominated the servers and could one shot me pretty easily.  I never quite mastered the arrow shot trajectories, but I thought it was fun for what it was.

Brodate:

Spoder scheduled another game no one had yesterday - Last Will.

It's a MP co-op room escape game.  It was a lot of fun and very well made.  It's up to 4 players and there's  timed mode and untimed mode.  The scenarios are somewhat randomized.  Meaning there's a set number of rooms, but for each game the rooms are chosen at random and the solution to the puzzles are chosen at random.  They range from deciphering riddles/poems to solving logic puzzles.  First time we got stuck on a chess puzzle that was made harder by the fact the chess pieces don't stay upright.  Second playthrough we were able to escape.

I recommend the game.  I think Tremor has copies of it.

I thought Arkshot was completely dead. Surprising you found people to play with, but then again I guess you did buy it long before it got bundled. I just know it's the least fun I've had with any bronight game, I even preferred King Arthur's Gold. There's probably some game that we've played that's worse than it but by now I've long forgotten it.

I don't know why so many people skipped the IG that Last Will was in, it was decent as far as IGs go. I even posted that Last Will looked decent back when that bundle went live lol. It's better made than 80% of the bundle shit we play. Tremor has a lot of copies in stock, and 99 coins each. No excuse to not own it if you use tremor and if you're a bronight regular.
