KF DLC (Kentucky Fried DLC!) usually hits 75% for the first 5-15 minutes of every Killing floor sale, and then they are all, "Derp, didn't mean to actually try to sell this stuff!" I managed to snag all the DLC I wanted for it by waiting for it to hit 75% and then grabbing it before it went back up, which now that I think about it, was probably their plan all along.

Yeah, I've noticed it too, but I've missed it the last few times! Going to have to stalk the store like a hawk this next time or hope with KF2 coming out they just do it for the length of the sale.

I don't see it as too weird, iirc Introversion had some insane price for Prison Architect early on for that reason. Basically it was buggy, and if it was cheap a bunch of people would buy it then whine and moan it is buggy. Supposedly the high entry price kept it to people really interested and kept the "whine about bugs because we don't get the idea of early access" people out.

Of course that is what they say, but I'll take their word for it (also it was before shit like Earth 2066).


Someone mentioned getting Rust, unless it is on sale for a decent amount Ithink it's better to wait. From what I've read they are recoded the whole game (correct me if I'm wrong on that) so it will probably be different in however long it takes. Hell not even sure if a lot of people still play or not.

I don't think the concept is all that well defined either. There's no standards, no guidelines, no one to be accountable to. Not even much in the way of fill in the blanks for lazy devs. It's basically 'Sell unfinished games that may get finished tomorrow, next year, 10 years from now or never'. It's hard to abuse something that's so vague in the first place.

To be fair, there's a wild variety of games in various states on Early Access that could be 5% done or 95% done. I think the bugs are to be expected of course and I wouldn't tell anyone not to buy a game clearly marked as Early Access but I do appreciate when reviewers detail the current state of the game because it's not like most of the developers are doing it.

It's far more complicated, but it takes a lot of control out of your hands in that time progresses for all sims regardless of which family you're playing with. This is a bit annoying, and that automatic progression sometimes leads to sims doing things you don't want them to do. I'd highly encourage anyone who takes their simming seriously to install just about every mod made by Nraas. They allow you to switch between families on the fly, as well as adjust progression and just about everything else you could possibly think of.

Of course, if you're bored with The Sims, you're bored with The Sims. It's not for everyone. It's not as much of a game as it is a life simulator with light gaming elements to it. It's fun if you like being a storyteller, taking time to make different sims with different personalities and backstories, creating relationships good and bad, etc. It's not a game that's much about sitting down and just "playing a game". It's a different beast entirely. There are also some fun ways to play that involve you creating large families and going through generations (sims dying, their offspring taking their place) at a faster pace, but I've never tried any of that stuff.

I will say that Sims 3 is the best Sims there has been yet, simply because it's just more advanced and there's more intricacy to it, but I am partial to Sims 2 for easier control, way more user created content, etc. I love the whole series though (though I abhor the DLC scheme).

You don't have to do everything. Things will expire sometimes (though they usually take a LONG time to expire), but that's fine. It's a big world with lots of stuff going on. You can leave most missions sitting for as long as you want. Only some are more time sensitive. Always do rescue missions soon, otherwise survivors may get lost, at which point you'll have to wait for another opportunity to save them (at which point they may die or disappear again if you let that mission expire). Also, when other survivors ask you do hunting missions (killing special zombies), you should probably take those as well since they'll do them on their own eventually and can come home injured. If you don't have the time to do them, just go to the mission point and tell the survivor not to do that mission (I do this a lot with the BIG zombie missions, since those guys are a pain unless you're sharp with a long range weapon). You should also help survivors out when they're scared, mad, depressed, etc since that can lead to issues if you ignore them. I always do those missions.

Besides those few mission types, you can let things expire and nothing will come of it. Once you get good at the game and have a handle on managing things, it's possible to do almost everything, but if you don't, it doesn't really matter. As for saving though, too bad! Death = death, bad things happening = bad things happening. It's part of what makes the game so brilliant.

Dead Rising is MUCH more annoying though with the time constraints. I played a lot of the first one, and made it a point to save EVERY survivor. In doing so I didn't give enough time for myself about one thing and "lost" the game because I let something expire. I could keep playing, but there would really be no point since the story part of the game was pretty much locked down. State of Decay doesn't have anything like that, just some silly side missions that aren't unique and can be skipped with next to no repercussions.

I also don't see what the international has to do with anything. It's July 18-21. Last year it was early August.

They only need a concept and the art, banners, etc. made on the first day of sale, I believe the rest can be made on a daily routine while the sale is going.

The International has started to become the biggest thing Valve does on the regular way. They are relative small company, considering the number of employees, so I think the most of them is engaged in preparations. They definitely need a lot of time before and after the event to make it happen.

I think running summer sale earlier gives them more time to prepare TI. It seems to be naturally connected, if you consider how big pressure is on them in this year. To be clear, I'll copypaste a prizepool of e-sport tournaments so far:

Prizepool of TI4 ALONE is now near $8.5M and it's still rising by throwing money at Valve. It has started at $1.6M and with every $10 thrown at them, it rises by $2.5. Yes, literally almost $28M has already been thrown at Valve. They can't overlook that stuff.

At first, I thought you wrote "Secret World", so I was confused seeing as I think you recommended it to me before..

People still play Perfect World? I knew a girl who played it like 5 or 6 years ago, but I was content with just playing MS. Kinda looked like shit too, guess that hasn't changed?

Yeah... this girl I was "friendly" with made me play it with her, and it's dull and horrendous as fuck. Not to mention for as mediocre as it looks it was putting my graphics card and FPS through the ringer. Horrific optimization.

Then I convinced her into playing Maple Story and she liked that a lot. Then she got weird and we don't really talk anymore. She wasn't much to look at anyways, and in retrospect she was weird and a bitch, but dat ass...
