Welcome to the Steam deals thread V12, where we talk about just about everything except what games are on sale.
Please wipe your feet on the way in...

Summer Sale PSA: If you're new to Steam sales, be sure to check out both Enhanced Steam and Spoony's Official Guide to Steam Sales before you ask a question and/or spend more money than you'd care to say.

Before you ask, if a game is already a featured deal (daily/flash/community) that's the lowest it will go this sale. Feel free to buy without the worry it will get a better discount later on.

It's the diaper'd gorilla avatar. It has an inherent rage inducing quality. Apparently that's a common thing with gorilla diapers.

spanksy
It was a diapered gorilla? I was highly offended when I first saw it because I assumed it was someone's kid with a rare birth defect.

Those damn avatar pics show up too small on my monitor.

You should have played more

<snip>
Possibly. I have yet to see the appeal in pinball for the epileptic and non-epileptic alike. Also for deaf, dumb and blind kids.

But I haven't played any of these newfangled pinball simulations recently, so maybe that's why.

have you played pinball fx2? if not...i feel sorry for you

i always thought playing pinball on pc sounded stupid, but i bought the pinball fx2 humble bundle and have since put in 35 hours toward it

Ladies and gentlemen the first one to quote this post and guess the actor's name who is inhabiting my avatar as well as what show the image is from will get a free copy of Street Racing Syndicate.

I'll have to concur with the above dumbass. I was never really a pinball fan and the thought of digital pinball made me laugh and/or vomit. But, FX really is fun even if not authentic. I should get back to it some time, but I've had other things distract me.

So the Nekro developer when questioned on putting his formerly Kickstarter Early Access game in a Groupees bundle that was pointed out he probably won't get much money from said he did it for exposure, to get people playing and talking about the game. I replied with this:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/246400/discussions/0/540743212079499391/#c540743213034484068

I'm not saying you guys should or shouldn't have bundled, but I just want to put this out here because I admit to it myself and I know lots of other people who are the same. A good portion of bundle buyers never play their games or if they do they just idle for cards.

Way back when indie bundles were few and far between. When one came out it was something special, people talked about the games and played them. Then more bundle sites started popping up. Then they decreased the time between bundles and eventually there became no gap at all and then ran back to back and even multiple bundles concurrently.

The proliferation of bundles with dirt cheap indie games has trained people into becoming game collectors. You simply cannot have hundreds or thousands of games in your backlog and play most of them. It's not going to happen. These games end up becoming a cheap disposable commodity. There's the rare game in a bundle I really want to play but for the most part I'm simply not motivated to be in a rush to play something that cost me pennies on the dollar when I already have such a huge backlog. Also the nature of the bundles encourages getting games you don't even want. It's a rare person who is interested in every single game in a bundle.

Again, I am not criticizing your decision or really even commenting on it one way or another, but I think as a developer and someone who probably doesn't spend a lot of time playing other games or buying indie bundles I wanted to be brutally honest with regards to the fact that a lot of the people buying this bundle won't ever play the game. I'm not the only person in this position either. There's whole sites like cheapassgamer and reddit game deals and such full of just such people. It's actually a running joke among many of us that we don't actually play the games we buy.

I do think Humble is a bit different because they are just so huge and mainstream and may reach a more casual buyer, though they too are changing and seem to be over-saturating, but for the type of person who is a regular buyer of Groupees, Indie Royale, Indie Gala etc I think that you may not get the level of exposure of people playing and passing along word of mouth that you expect.

Now I will say that bundling exposure in terms of getting Greenlight votes is something different and that does work but the reason for that is the bundle buyer has an investment in wanting to get a free Steam key down the road so that's a different situation entirely.

TL;DR - Many bundle buyers don't play their games so you may not get the exposure you're hoping to get.

It was a diapered gorilla? I was highly offended when I first saw it because I assumed it was someone's kid with a rare birth defect.

Those damn avatar pics show up too small on my monitor.

Yeah, I heard about that a while back. Really sad.

There was also that game reviewer on YouTube who killed himself supposedly because he couldn't deliver on the project he got funded for on Kickstarter, but had already spent all or the majority of the money he received from backers on keeping him and his wife afloat while he was unemployed and looking for work.
There's a lesson here, kids: Don't try to become internet famous. Internet fame is a harsh mistress.

Ladies and gentlemen the first one to quote this post and guess the actor's name who is inhabiting my avatar as well as what show the image is from will get a free copy of Street Racing Syndicate.

Some quick impressions... I'm about 2 hours into the game based upon steam. (110 minutes to be precise.)
Some dudes on IGN were curious when I said that I read the save system sucks (from your post), so I posted your impression there, hope you don't mind.

Your post turned me off of the game, thanks.

Dear,

You idiots do not deserve my games. They will be PS4/X-Box One exclusives. PCs are for porn n trolls. Real gamers play on consoles. You PC gamer losers can suck it since you live in youre grannies bassment eating cheetos with mice.
I was part of a live stream over the weekend and announced my game was an Origin exclusive. It got real quiet...

Luftrausers looks fun but still overpriced.  I did love super crate box and met Vlambeer at PAX 2 years ago so Im rooting for him.

Nope, no problem at all.

I hope to have good words at the end... Either way I'll post it when I'm finished.

Damn, I want Naruto on PC, but I don't wanna double-dip at $20.

The new one is out this Fall too.
I am always sort of interested in Naruto games.. but can't justify ever spending more than $3. As a result, I own zero Naruto games. It's probably just as well as I only made it about 10 episodes into the Anime when Cartoon Network first started running it before I realized that there was just entirely too much filler in the show for me. I like the idea/chars but just can't sit through anime filler. I stopped watching Bleach & Attack on Titan for the same reason. I don't understand why everyone praises AoT, because honestly 90% of the episodes could be under 10 mins long & they'd convey exactly the same thing as the full length ones IMO. I don't need to hear chars debating in their head for five minutes if they're going to say something before they say it.

In all seriousness, I ended up getting Storm 3 day 1 (never thought they'd go the Full Burst route :wall: ) with my little brother, and ended up buying the Full Burst DLC at full-price so double-dipping at $20 is out of the question for me.

I might just end up waiting and grabbing the next game on PC first instead of 360 depending on the prices.

Never thought I'd say that about a fighting game.

The Ninja Storm games are absolutely worth more than $3. $10 is a good buy point considering the amount of content they have, easy. I recommend grabbing Full Burst as soon it hits 75% off ($10).

The Ninja Storm games are based on the Shippuden series as opposed to the original Naruto. Shippuden I would say is a better series, and has noticeably less filler per actual content compared to the original, though why you didn't just skip all the filler is beyond me. :p

I wouldn't recommend diving into Shippuden without watching the original, but it can be done as long as you're provided the basic background info you need to know. There's only four or five main arcs in the original, so it can be summed up semi-easily.

Well Ubisoft admitted on Twitter that Watch Dogs PC is built for unified RAM as on consoles and that's why it's fucked up, they are developing a patch to adapt it to a split memory system that PCs use. Dumb asses. Does that mean the whole game is running on just my video card's 2GB ram? No wonder it runs like shit.

How the heck am I supposed to know if an episode is filler without watching it!? lol It's not like I am going to do research on a cartoon before I watch it :)

How to watch Naruto without filler.

Yeah, sometimes when it comes to long-running shows like this, it's best to do a little research beforehand unless you're okay with watching filler (like I was with Detective Conan).

I was never really into Bleach (didn't much dig the filler there either, but there were other reasons, mainly that the mangaka needs to learn how to write an ending :wall: ), but I'm sure there's a guide for that one too.

Not that it matters, seeing as the Bleach anime ends abruptly, because the anime's been on the heels of the manga for some time and they didn't wanna make any more filler. I expect it'll be back once the manga finally ends.

I seem to have found a kindred soul!
I tried so hard to like it.. I did enjoy the first episode or 2.. and then.. meh. Still, I wanted to see where it was going, so I watched up to episode 19 before deciding I was done (honestly the 15 minutes of Eren deciding through inner monologue whether he was going to stop & fight or follow orders really did it for me).

In my defense, I kept watching because EVERYONE on the internet kept saying "It gets waaaaay better!" and I fell for it.

Thanks for the link.. I checked it out but have already decided not to bother. :) Apparently, Episodes 1-25 are considered "Non-Filler" and I was already getting bored at episode 10. Maybe I'll give the second series a shot some day.

Oh, that's the Chakra Forest episode. Yeah, that's boring as hell and only serves to show a minor detail you'll be reminded of later.

Just skip to ep 12, it's mostly just one big fight from then until episode 19. The series really starts to take off during the next arc.from ep. 27 onwards.

I enjoyed Field Runners a lot on my phone back when it was in an earlier humble bundle. Played it a bunch.
Alright, I'll probably BTA at $4.70something then.

y u lie?

The bridge arc of Naruto is the worst part of Naruto. It does get progressively better from that point until they hit the first major stretch of filler, but god, the bridge arc sucks.

27 onwards is the Forest of Death part of the Chunin exams.

12 is when they start to actually fight on the bridge (with the ice mirrors and shit). I liked that part, but all the exposition before the fight was boring as fuck, agreed.
