You are wronger than treacle on a Yorkshire pudding.
I would argue, but that's too British for me to possibly comprehend it.

This is the only thing I know the word "treacle" from, and I think Yorkshire is one of those places Harry Potter visited. . . :p

Risen 1 is awful; War in the North is great. That is all.
LOTR: WITN could be better - if its combat, enemies, and all of that stuff was more interesting + had more actual depth to it.

The game is focused on being an ARPG...with a lot of focus on action - but its combat, especially early-on, just ain't interesting enough or deep enough to really keep me wanting to stay involved. While the controls are fine for me - it's the lack of depth and intrigue early-on that wasn't doing it for me. Also - none of the leveling-up stuff, skills, and loot really seem to be that interesting, either. For a game trying to focus on combat and trying to be a ARPG - it's just not that good at doing that stuff, IMHO. After 3 hours or so of this - consider me bored stiff.

PB's games - namely, Gothic 1 + 2; and Risen 1 + 2 - succeed mostly b/c of their excellent world-building, numerous immersion factors, NPC's interactions, and RPG elements. If a player ain't into that stuff - I don't think that player will ever enjoy a PB game. Gothic 3 could've worked - if it wasn't such a damn technical disaster. Combat controls + the actual combat were never spectacular in their games - but their games are also a bit difficult purposely + a bit more hardcore than most games these days in the combat department, as you could just turn a different direction and run into a killer enemy or mob....and get slaughtered. It always seemed like combat was secondary to their series.

Right, still rumored.

Not official yet.
There's something really strange if those specs were real. Why a minimum "i5-2500K" as processor.

K processors are the same as non K just got an unlocked modifier for overclocking. That makes no sense for me.

They are telling "Hey, you need to have it overclocked".

Edit. So someone with a non "K", I5-2500 cannot runt it? Can't be real.

Maybe it just won't run well at 1080p @ 30 FPS if it's locked?

I don't know.

{shrug}

We still need word from UbiSoft on the req's.

I have an i7 950 for a processor, BTW.

I don't want to beat a dead horse too much, but I thought the combat controls were responsive and fluid and the story and setting were great. It doesn't hurt that I'm a big LoTR fan--and it was interesting to go places in a new game that I'd seen in a completely different way in LOTRO. Each of the three PCs has a unique style and can unlock secret areas (this isn't actually that big of a deal, but it's a nice touch), and they work well together as a team (although the AI has some issues if you're playing solo). I'm assuming the game is probably that much better as a co-op MP experience, but it was just fine in single-player.

I only dabbled in the Gothics because the combat seemed clunky and frankly the game threw way too many overpowered mobs at you (usually animals). Risen 1 also had a nasty habit of doing that, but it also suffered from a lack of direction. I don't mind open worlds--Skyrim did open-world RPG stuff very well, but I'm one of those people that Codexers probably sneer at because I like having things that would be considered "modern" features in the 1990s, like an automap and quest markers. More often than not, I would finish a quest chain in Risen only to not really have anything else to do other than wander around, try not to get eaten by a passing ashbeast, and hope I came across an NPC with a new series of things for me to do. (I will say that one of my more interesting RPG anecdotes came from a Gothic game: I was wandering around in a town and passed a guy who was pissing on the inside of the town wall. You couldn't see anything, really, but you heard an unmistakable sound of urination and the guy was facing the wall in a certain way that made it obvious. It was a weird but fascinating touch.)

The thing I've always found incredibly immersive breaking in risen and gothic is the animations...all I can focus on during conversations is the ridiculous body language and arm flailings of the characters

My IGN Prime is still working...

I found you on stormy winternight
you stayed on my side since

We had your up & downs
but you still stayed

You said you're going away
I didn't believe you

It wasn't until you didn't come at Freddy's,
I realized you weren't lying.

Goodbye my friend

Goodbye IGN Prime

How did I miss that: GOTHIC 1, DUDEBRO. If you have not played it yet you owe it to yourself! Save Witcher and Fable for when you are drunk/high.

So call of duty then?
Not yet ;) Just trying to finish up It's predecessor: Medal of Honor: Allied Assault Warchest from GOG. Holy crap on a crapstick, every fricken German is a sniper, even with a machinegun, it's redonkulous. I'm almost to the end, but I almost rage-quit when I hit the level known as "Sniper town". MOH:AA actually holds up pretty well for a 12 year old game. Everyone owes it to themself to play the D-Day, Normandy Beach level of MOH:AA. One of the best levels of a FPS I've ever played. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be playing the expansions to Allied Assault, I can't take the German AI aim-cheating and my Allied AI Hurrr-Durrr behavior (e.g. my buddy Mike's head just exploded like a melon...perhaps I should duck? Hurr durr no, I'll just stand here until I'm shot...BAM!)

So, it will be like playing in my neighborhood then, great!

So there's probably about a 66% chance I skipped it, then.
It must've been a decent needle bundle because I bought it. I only buy bundles if I can see myself playing a few of the games, not just for dat steam count

If those specs are true I can't wait to hear UBI bitching that no one bought the PC game.

Then the endless PC debate comes back, lol.
There will be plenty of people saying "I have worse specs than that and the game runs perfectly."

Then later they mention how the game slows down to a crawl during combat, but it is "barely noticeable". Much like how Shadow of Mordor reviews on Steam are.

wtf I guess it's time to replace my 7870
Until Ubi speaks on it + says what the specs are, it's a rumor.

Though, if they confirm what we know - yeah, those are some crazy-stiff req's.

EDIT 2:

If it's "barely noticeable" and someone's pointing it - then it's noticeable and happens! :p

What they need to expand upon is: slow-downs happens in X areas, or when X amount of enemies on screen, or whatever the cases might be.

EDIT 1:

Namco has Dark Souls II for $19.47 and the Season Pass for $16.22. Record lows for both unless I'm mistaken.
Thanks for reminding me - I still need to work on Dark Souls 1: PTD (PC). ;)

Will keep waiting for DS2 + SP to get cheaper.

Except a lot of times, there are more than a few people who never have any complaints.

My rig now is above requirements for a lot of new games, but I used to have a machine that was lower than minimum on a lot of games. I was regularly able to play games out of my machine's "league" with no problems at all. My screenshot library on Steam starts from when I had a P4 and a 5670 and was reguarly running AAA games that I had no business playing if requirements were to be believed (I only had a max res of 1330X768 with the old monitor). The new Tomb Raider ran very well on that set up. Sleeping Dogs also ran well on that. I upgraded that PC (which was a mistake) to a quad 6600 but still kept the same GPU and finally hit the wall when I got a monitor that went to 1080. Now I have a entirely new system.

The fact is, requirements are rarely accurate. You will have people on virtually every new release that exceed requirements and have problems and people below requirements that have none. It all depends on optimization. The better a game is optimized, the more likely it will work for those with lesser machines.

Considering Ubi's track record with optimizing AC games, I would bet that this one will not work as well with lesser machines than other games do, but it'd also be no surprise if it does work well enough for people to play and enjoy it. Case in point, on my old P4/5670 I was able to play the Ezio series all the way through until 3 finally said no which to this day is IMO the worst PC game in the last 5 years based simply on technical reasons and nothing to do with the quality (its crap but thats besides the point) of the gameplay.

Well I'm sure they would rather have you buy the console version anyway.
I think Ubi would rather gamers buy all versions ASAP for maximum profit. ;)

I think Ubi - any many others, for that matter - would love if gamers bought console-version now + then way later buy PC-version.

Why else would many companies normally put out console-versions first, then PC later? ;)

And why else would they put out different SKU's and version for different platforms + multi-platform these games?

I also think Ubi might figure everyone buying the PC-version likely will wait for a Steam sale, a few patches, and some PC hardware upgrades anyways. ;)

Ubi seems to often put-out basic, lazy, and/or poorly optimized PC ports, anyways.

^ Couldn't be anymore wrong about Risen 1 but... consider the source.  Anywayz... Saints Derp the Herp (4th) is getting into the possible buy pricing zone.  Don't know if all the junky DLC is worthwhile, though.

You can easily find the complete version for 2.5 keys if you're into that kind of thing.
