Superstar Billy Graham's wrestling topic
CM Punk/Chavo has potential on the ECW side as well.
This feud just seems straight out of left field to me. Youd'd think Chavo would wanna go after Rey since he put him out of commission late last year, yet the way it's booked it's like development pulled Punk's name out of a hat and decided that that's who Chavo should go after when he came back.

Yeah Punk's the champ and all so Chavo has a chance at a title reign, but it still feels like a totally tossed-together feud.

Ad for RAW just aired in HD for tonight's show. Wow... just wow.
Argh I hate Bright House :bomb: We still don't have USA HD.

I also hate that douchebag who blocked the view of the new set from the camera in the pre-Raw promo.

The shot of the new set was shown for about 1/2 a second anyways. Had I of had my capture program running I could of gotten a nice clear shot of it.... but oh well. Just a few minutes away from RAW in beautiful HD.

Looks great. Theres alot of macroblocking when theres alot of flashy lights and movement, but the regular match is looking amazing.

The set actually looks pretty cool too.

yes it is. When they did the MLK tribute at the beginning it was 4:3 so that worried me, but it is in fact widescreen.

And HBK is freaking yellow. Something should be done about that.

Also, you can hear everything perfectly. I'm listening to everything that Kennedy is saying.
I'd personally say that Raw is better than TNA. The Hardy/Orton fued is really heating up.
The Kennedy-HBK feud has also been quite good, and resulted in good matches and mic work. TNA Impact has too little wrestling on the show (usually) for me to say it's better than any WWE show beyond perhaps SD, which has plummeted in quality, while ECW can usually be counted on for one good match per week.

I'm viewing Raw in SD and I like the slightly changed WWE bug, and LOVE this new set... although there are some dead pixels on the left side (on camera) of the set already. I can't believe how massive it is. Very good use of video on it, although it's a little too busy at at times.

ROH Undeniable was a fine show - not as good as Man Up, and the change from short matches to long ones was way too drastic, but the long matches were each great, while the short ones were at least effective.

Some quick image jittering and color bars were up on screen towards the end of HBK-Kennedy.

I really fuckin' hate not having USA HD now.

EDIT: Wow, Kennedy's facewash on HBK was ruthless looking. What an incredible match to start off the show. 25 minutes into the program and no awful interview segments thus far? Me likey.

I'm only watching the show by bits and pieces so that I can download the HD version whenever it goes up.
ROH Undeniable was a fine show - not as good as Man Up, and the change from short matches to long ones was way too drastic, but the long matches were each great, while the short ones were at least effective
The fourth PPV is the worst of the bunch. I'm much more looking forward to the 5th PPV (Rising Above) and the Nigel/Aries title match (Which IMHO is a MOTC) and Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Jack Evans & Ruckus vs. Jimmy Jacobs & Tyler Black vs. BJ Whitmer & Adam Pearce. Those two matches alone are worth the 5th PPV.

The women's match was a hodgepodge of great moments and some pretty obvious screwups. Phoenix's kick when Mickie was on the ropes wasn't even close, while when she knocked Mickie off the apron early in the match, that looked great.

I'm hoping we're starting to see more and more wrestling that matters. I'm really enjoying Raw tonight thus far, barring the obvious I-don't-have-the-HD-version crap.

Man they're really pushing Orton as champion. I can't see him losing it at Wrestlemania to be honest.

TNA Spoilers (Some WTF?! moments for me)

Impact:

*Impact opens with Kevin Nash calling out Jim Cornette. Matt Morgan comes out instead and they exchange words. Morgan attacks Nash and Samoa Joe makes the save.

*Robert Roode & James Storm defeated Sonjay Dutt & Eric Young. After the match, Ms. Brooks attacked Banks.

*They gave out the TNA Year-End Awards:

- Knockout of 2007 was Gail Kim, who cut a promo on Awesome Kong. Kong attacked Kim but ODB made the save.

- The Most Memorable Moment was Booker T coming to the company. He and Sharmell accepted and Robert Roode appeared on the video screen cutting a promo saying it was Booker's fault Roode struck Sharmell at the PPV.

- MVP of the Year was Samoa Joe. Joe asks Jeremy Borash if he's the MVP, why hasn't he had a World title match. Borash tells him that he did, but he lost to Kurt Angle. Joe lays out Borash. This brings out Jim Cornette who says he has an offer for Joe, which is to be the Guest Enforcer in the Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage match at Against All Odds and have a TNA title match at Destination X. Joe declines and says he wants a five year deal and 15% higher salary than Kurt Angle gets. Cornette reluctantly agrees.

*Shark Boy pinned Elix Skipper with a stunner, doing a Stone Cold gimmick right down to the promo.

*Johnny Devine won the X-Division championship from Jay Lethal in a Street Fight after Team 3D's interference. Devine was attacked by Joe after winning the belt.

*Backstage, TNA champ Kurt Angle tried to enlist Tomko's aid against Christian Cage, promising him everything AJ Styles gets, including Karen, if he does it. Angle challenges Tomko to a singles match next week.

*Tiger Mask & Curry Man defeated Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt.

*Angelina Love defeated Roxxi and ODB.

*Christian Cage defeated Judas Mesias. After the match, Abyss attacked Mesias. Kurt Angle and AJ Styles attacked Cage. Tomko made the save.

Note to the WWE:

Don't ever let Kendrick speak again.

Another note to the WWE:

FIX YOUR BROADCAST. Way too many pauses, freezes, pixelations, and compression artifacts for a company that has spent several years preparing for broadcasting in HD.

He basically... sounded like the biggest geek ever in a segment with Holly and Cody. Excellent video on Orton - good use of OVW footage and his early WWE matches. They definitely did a good job of making him look like a strongly-booked WWE champion with the video.

Edit - Boy I hope JBL gets in better cosmetic shape for the Rumble, as he looks out of shape even in just quick clips during a video package. Excellent promo by Jericho. Aside from MVP-Flair and Edge-Rey, the Rumble has been built up very well.
What happened with Kendrick?
He cut a promo with Cody Rhodes and Holly. And looked like a total douchebag.

Heres a quote for whoever usually does em:

JR: "To say Jeff Hardy is hot, would be an understatement"

I think theres a little something wrong with his BBQ sauce.

...that would be me with the quotes, and I think I've gotten that one before. I've also got the Santino segment from tonight and the Jericho promo quoted.

This is the first time in a long time that the WWE has gotten me to care about a feud but those Orton and Hardy video packages are definitely pulling me in.

Excellent show overall, although I'm not sure if not delivering on the mystery opponent for HHH was wise.

Quotes -
J.R. - It’s only fitting that HBK would get the first superstar entrance in Raw in HD.
J.R. - Kennedy granted a spot in the Rumble… I don’t quite understand it.
Lawler - Don’t think for a second that Kennedy can’t wrestle.
(Michaels chops Kennedy)J.R. - How’s that looking in your living room in HD!?
Randy - Vince, Jeff Hardy made a conscience decision last week when he dove onto my unconscious body - there’s no way I’m shaking his hand tonight!
Vince - How many men’s hands do you think I’ve had to shake that I hated?! That’s why I carry Purell, or some other kind of hand sanitizer with me at all times - I HATE IT!
J.R. - Raw is brought to you by… my GOD, MY FRUITY, FRUITY, FRUITY SKITTLES!
HHH - Todd, I don’t know who my opponent is, but I do know that Vince has spent the past 8 hours locked in a room with industrial makeup artists trying to hide every wrinkle and age spot. I also know that the past seven winners of the Rumble match have gone onto win the title at WrestleMania - I should know - I was one of them. No matter who the opponent is or what match I’m in, I’m going to win, and that’s a guaran-DAMN-tee!
Cody - Good luck in your match with Carlito tonight, at least you don’t have to dress up like Carlito this week.
(Kendrick and Cody laugh except Bob)Holly - WHAT’S SO FUNNY ABOUT THAT?
Cody - Come on Bob, I put a picture of it on my Myspace.
Holly - WHAT THE HELL IS A MYSPACE?
Kendrick - COME ON BOB, THE WORLD WIDE WEB!
J.R. - Hornswoggle and Finlay versus the Highlanders - a match with a real INTERNATIONAL FLAIR!
Lawlers - All of the famous families are on WWE.com, the Spears…
J.R. - What about the Lawlers?
Lawler - WHAT?
J.R. - How about the Hogans?
J.R. - Usually, Jericho and I have conversations on Monday afternoons - that wasn’t the case tonight, as he was somber.
J.R. - Jericho knows that the maniacal millionaire, JBL, is wealthier and bigger than he is, but Jericho thinks he’s tougher.
Jericho - I could have come out and ranted and raved about wanting JBL tonight and not wanting to wait until Sunday, but I can’t do that, because when JBL heard I was going to be here, he decided not to come. I find it ironic that he called me a coward given that he won’t show up, and that he threatened my children. My four-year old son looked at me last week, with a quiver in his lip, if it was true, and I told him that it wasn’t true, and he looked at me with doubt it his eyes and it broke my heart. You said you didn’t want to make this personal, but you did. After 17 years, I have never been treated like I was, but you also made a huge mistake when you did that, but it wasn’t because you wrapped a cord around my throat, and you damaged my larynx to the point that I wouldn’t eat, you made a mistake by not finishing the job, and as a result, I’m still here. I’ve been beaten and bloodied, and slapped around by some of the biggest and in the business, but I’ve never been dragged around the building like a piece of meat - but I’M STILL HERE. And this Sunday at the Royal Rumble in Madison Square Garden, home of some of the greatest boxing and wrestling matches of all time, with things on them just to have a good show. But on Sunday, I’m not interested in having a good show, or having a spectacle, it’ll just be one thing - a FIGHT!
Vince - Don’t you EVER risk someone’s life like that again, Hell, I don’t want you risking YOUR LIFE like that - I’ve got an investment in you. Go out there and shake Orton’s hand tonight. People are gonna be wondering just what are you capable of, just what will you do to win the WWE Championship. Now, you go out there and shake the man’s hand.
Jeff - Vince, man, you don’t have to worry about it - I’ll go out there and be sure to give everyone something to talk about.
Regal - The Royal Rumble, the only match where someone like you, Mr. Kendrick, can win and go directly to the main event of WrestleMania. Now, I’m still putting the finishing touches on Triple Haitch’s match, so you’ll have to face someone that has already qualified for the Royal Rumble.
Lawler - What did Brian Kendrick do before Raw? Could his luck get any worse?
J.R. - Earlier tonight in catering (no jokes, please), I was talking to Kendrick and he said that the Royal Rumble was his favorite match growing up, and his dream was to compete in one.
Santino - Hello Maria, Hello Ashley, and I know what you’re going to ask - no - Maria doesn’t need to get me a free subscription to Playboy, because it’s like the old expression, why buy the cow when you have someone who will let you milk them for free!
Vince - He says “you’re fired”, I say “YOOOU’RE FIRRREEED!”.
Trump - I say it better.
J.R. - King, what are you doing?
King - HD!
J.R. - King, it’s HD, not 3D!
J.R. - The fact that Maria’s still with Marella is a miracle.
J.R. - Santino’s almost won the Royal Rumble…being with Maria…
Regal - Triple Haitch, it isn’t who your opponent is, it’s whom they may be. You’ll have to face one to three opponents, it’s an over-the-top rope gauntlet match. If you throw them out, you win, if any one of them throws you out, you’re out of the Royal Rumble match. Now without any further ado, here’s your first opponent (Snitsky comes out)
Lawler - GOOD GRIEF!
(HHH eliminates Snitsky)Regal - (angrily)CONGRATULATIONS, HERE’S YOUR SECOND OPPONENT - SMACKDOWN’S MARK HENRY!
Lawler - William Regal eliminated by Triple Haitch, as he likes to call him!
Lawler - J.R. stop and enjoy Mr. McMahon in high definition.
J.R. - I’m sorry, Jerry, are you done enjoying it?
Lawler - Yes.
Vince - How about it? MR. MCMAHON IN HD!
J.R. - If Jeff Hardy wins at the Royal Rumble, he can join the Immortal Hulk Hogan and Triple H as the only men to hold both the WWE and Intercontinental titles.
Lawler - I don’t know what HD does for sound, but the roof almost blew off this building when Jeff Hardy came out.
Crowd - HAR-DY! HAR-DY! HAR-DY!
Vince - Normally, this is where I’d hype the WWE Title match at the Royal Rumble match, but quite frankly, this match doesn’t need anymore hype. What kind of match will we see? Will we see death-defying risks, or a potentially career-ending kick to the head? Before you shake hands, are there any last-minute comments you’d like to make. Randy?
Orton - I’m gonna be honest with you, Jeff Hardy, ever since I found out you were gonna be my opponent at the Rumble, I’ve been relieved. Don’t get me wrong, you’ve done some amazing things, but you’ve never come close to becoming WWE Champion. I’ll admit it - I have underestimated you. Every time I close my eyes, I see an image of Jeff Hardy crashing down on me from 30 feet in the air, so congratulations, although you will not be winning this title this Sunday. You have won something almost as important - my respect.
Crowd - HAR-DY! HAR-DY! HAR-DY!
Jeff - Just so you know, I don’t care about earning your respect, I didn’t hit a 30 foot swanton to impess you, I DID IT TO HURT YOU! I DID IT FOR MY BROTHER, MATT! I DID IT BECAUSE I’VE WAITED TOO LONG FOR THIS OPPURTUNITY, AND I DID IT TO SHOW YOU THAT I’LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO BECOME WWE CHAMPION! AND IF I’M GONNA SHAKE HANDS WITH PEOPLE I RESPECT, THERE’S GONNA BE A LONG LINE, BECAUSE THERE’S A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE I RESPECT MORE THAN YOU! Like Jim Ross, like Jerry the King Lawler, like Liilian Garcia, that’s not it, Randy. What’s your name? Like RYAN! Like Bobby! Like Cory! Like Ethan! Like Justin! Like Kevin! Like Chris! Like Wayne! Like Jordan! Like Christina! Like Brian!
J.R. - Jeff Hardy making a unique impression on the champion.

It's cool that WWE has something exciting going down, with the Orton and Hardy feud.
Was it JR that said Hogan was the IC and World champion at the same time?!?!?
Yes, he's welcome to come watch WM6 with me anytime.

That was a brutal Raw. All downhill after the brilliant HBK/Kennedy opening match.

Far too many advertisements and plugs for the Royal Rumble, awful matches like the midget squashing the Highlanders again, and a beyond awful/predictable HHH qualifying match. I can't imagine anyone but HHH (or God forbid the midget) winning the Royal Rumble. Aren't Lashley and Big Show ready to go now? Not that I'm advocating either one winning the Rumble, but having one of them beat HHH in his match tonight would've been a pleasant swerve.

The Hardy/Orton segment was kind of cool, but seemed odd as Vince mysteriously disappeared after handing off the mic. Jeff has got the better of every one of their exchanges, so I can't see Orton losing the belt at the Rumble. Pity, as Jeff will likely slide back down the card when Lt. Retard returns.

I liked the matches on the show, except for the main event. There was nothing offensive in the storylines (the frustrated Mickie angle is an interesting direction, though hopefully it doesn't lead to crazy lesbian Mickie), and Jeff Hardy as a Dusty Rhodes-style "people's champ" (with apologies to The Rock) is a good direction for him. He's never going to get over as the biggest, strongest guy, so this works for him.
What's that?
I suspect most likely by "Umaga Push" he's refering to being pushed hard as a legitimate main eventer for a few months then after that being pushed right back down into the midcard with no real fueds or anything.

The Umaga push is to get somebody over to semi-main event status to get them to look as they have the potential to take the belt even though we realistically know that it ain't gonna happen.

Last year Umaga got set up to be this unstoppable contender to John Cena, beating people left and right until he lost to Cena at the Rumble. Hardy got almost the same exact push this year, although he wasn't given the same unbeatable atmosphere, the jist of the push is all the same.

I expect Hardy to then occupy the same spot Umaga occupies now until later on in another couple of years when they feel one of them is ready for the belt. I mean it's goes perfectly along when you consider Hardy was the one to beat Umaga for the Intercontinental belt in the first place.

But then again, perhaps it's just me.

I just know I'm enjoying the hell out of Hardy/Orton more than I did Umaga/Cena.
Man they're really pushing Orton as champion. I can't see him losing it at Wrestlemania to be honest.

Tremendous. Lethal loses the belt he doesn't legally own to Devine, who legally owned it, and now... um... re-owns it, or something. Jay Lethal - one Hell of an MVP for the X division in 2007.

Well... it would work.

I'm pretty sure Umaga was pushed as a monster just so he could be fed to Cena.

Barring a long awaited Cena heel turn, I don't see Jeff and Cena feuding anytime soon.

Ideally Cena would comeback to ECW and feud with CM Punk.

NSFW for *VERY* obvious reasons..... don't say I didn't warn you....... besides that this what the "magic" of High Definition brings to you.......

:puke:

He does dye them you know. Its a hell of a lot less to pay then people like Vito, who Vince supposedly required to wear a dress during his personal time as well. I know he prefers wrestlers to stay in character during their personal time, but thats a bit too far. Imagine seeing a big italian guy walking through Brooklyn wearing a dress...

To whoever said that HBK looked yellow in HD:

In addition to WWE performers being told that they can no longer verbally call their spots in the ring and they must work stiffer because of High Definition broadcasting, they are no longer allowed to have spray tans. Shawn Michaels and Ken Kennedy were said to be two superstars that were culprits of this lately as the spray tans can run and cause obvious distractions to viewers watching in HD.

You can clearly see the compression problems they had while things were moving quickly in the screenshot, as Snitsky was hauling it down the ramp at that time. The matches (since God knows no one does anything fast paced in them) and promos looked great however.

And yeah, HBK didn't look terrible at first, but as the match went on he just started looking yellow. Kennedy looked just normal, so maybe he actually didn't use the spray tan.

It's just growing pains of moving to HD, I imagine. Things will smooth out over time. But, even I saw a lot of compression/pixelation of the video, and I was watching it in SD.

The opening montage got me even more heated to watch it in HD.
