Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

June 25th - July 1st, 50% off used games $19.99 and under

See here for the deal: http://www.blockbuster.com/stores

There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

See BlockbusterGuy's thread for a list of titles eligible under (and commonly found at BBV) for the promo:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/310423-blockbuster-video-4th-of-july-sale-bogo/

Coming July 2nd: B1G1 free on games $29.99 and under

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

Confirmed 75% off for small framed art and misc general merchandise (a Pink Floyd bottle opener for $1.24 in my case). Also confirmed there are some products not on clearance, such as the 6-foot HDMI cables for $9.99, still at full price. ($2.49 would have been a decent deal.) Apparently, they're going to continue to carry a handful of items like that. The 160GB PS3 might be in the same boat, whereas the DS Lites are being cleared out.

For those in SoCal, you can pretty much count out Santa Barbara, Ventura County, and the Valley. I called three different locations and had them look up the part numbers, none in stock. If I can get the part numbers for the clamshell points, I will check on those as well.

Picked up a 4GB Kingston USB Flash and a Package of Wall Decals for about 6 bucks.

Also, are game controllers (like a dual shock) and ps3 remotes (for DVD and Blu ray playback, etc) both 50%? I read the schedule of drops and re-read the schedule of drops but in store I'm being told differently and I didn't want to give an attitude to this particular store by insisting that they scan stuff. Sorry for the neediness.

New Super Mario Bros items like the yoshi backpack and large figures are all still full price. Rayman Raving Rabbids in Time are still 2.49.

The guy at the store I went to scanned a PS3 remote and it rang up full price. He was as baffled as I was, but yeah apparently that is something they don't plan on dropping.
yoshi backpack, rabbids in time minifigs and large nsmb figures/plushes remained full price :(
Oh man, thanks for the confirmation. I was going to ask employees again to price check the large mario figures and plushes. Last time I did, they were full price, so I'd feel like a dick asking again only to find out they're full price still. Did you price check any of the small mario figures?

They had a sign up showing they were like b2g1 at 4.99 each, but I didnt have them price check those because we didnt want any. The list didnt seem to have any of the new super mario bros items on it.

They also had some new pokemon plushies, but I didnt have them check those either.

Picked up a cobalt DS Lite for 50 and a LBP2 sackboy plushie for about 4.38. Also got a Tron 1982 poster for about a buck.

I picked up the LBP2 plushes for $3.24 each :)

I asked for a price check on the 160 gb PS3 (console only). It rings up at $299.99.

They have a 40gb PS3 fatty at my local BBV, I wonder if that dropped. I don't think it would be worth it unless it were $100 or below though.

Thanks everyone who keeps this tread updated. Picked up a ds lite today, hope there is a b1g1 for the 4th I need some games for it now.

I went this morning. The store manager said that the hardware is to rent only.

Anyway, saw the Yoda Plush with tag $9.99. did anyone see the yoda frame/poster that someone talked about earlier?

I also saw mickey ,cars, toy story, monster inc., etc $14.99 frames. Are these any good?

Im really want nintendo ds lite, but probably cant find one since there is little bbv in the MD area.

No go on Glen burnie, silver spring, rockville area.

what kind of LBP2 plush? I think I saw one, but not sure if there is differnt kinds.

I seem to vaguely remember Blockbuster having Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace framed posters. Has anyone seen these lately? I'm decorating a room with a Bond theme so I'd snap these up if they're still out there.
yes those are the ones we have.

yes.

yoda is $4.99 the big guy. the little guy is $1.25. luckily i got the last one in my store.
@ hawaiiboy- It wasnt a set. It was one sackboy wearing something green. couldnt remember it. Do u know how much is for the night before christmas fleece blankets? (I mean Reg price. Its confusing cause both stores have different prices)

So does the merchandise ring up auto at 75%? They still have the 50% tags up

we dont sell them as a set just pointing out those are the characters we have and they are $3.24 each. not sure bout the sackboy wearing something green but sounds like its part of the collection.

fleece blankets are either $3.74 or $4.99. depending on the original price which i think was $14.99. they automatically ring up at 75% off regardless of what the sign says.

edit: come to think of it the fleece might be originally $19.99 and i think the snuggies were $14.99.

Alright. Even though I went back to bed this morning, I still made out like a bandit at my closest BBV just now.

I picked up

4x LBP 2 plushes(2 regular, one Caesar, one "Arrrr", aka pirate) for $3.24 each
2x Kingston flash drives-2gb-$1.99 each
1x Kingston flash drive-4gb-$3.74

Hell of a deal on the flash drives if you ask me. Now at least I can fully back up my saves n other stuff I wanna keep on my PS3's hdd without having to pick n choose.

They still had TONS of shit left when I was leaving.

Probably the best deal there though, Kodak brand batteries-$.72 a pack

I saw one with a $14.99 and one $19.99. Probably a mistag?

Thanks.

Damn. Someone got the last 2 DS at the silver spring location. Oh well.

anyone ever try changing the case? Got a old used pick one and was thinking of swapping it out. Is it difficult?

They had some Archos netbook things at my local store as well. I think they were $150 each after the clearance. I'm not sure what the specs were for them, I'd imagine they are outdated.

What location is this? I think i saw caesar last time. i was thinking of getting some posters since i missed out on the ds lites

The kingston drives are a great price, but i think i got a few from microcenter when they were giving it away for free

For the LBP2 plushes, I think these are part of a wave 2 set. I've seen the karate, pirate and gladiator versions so far. I'm hoping to pick up more later tonight :)

Thanks so much to the OP, hawaiiboy, and other CAGs for all the posts.
Picked up framed artwork for Dexter, Casino Royale, and Reservoir Dogs. :D
Nice. Reservoir dogs is a great movie. Anyway, did u see any yoda framed artwork? I think someone brought it up a few pages ago.

I was thinking of the disney (toy story, cars, 101, Finding Nemo, the goonies, mickey, etc) frames, but not sure if they are good or not?
Its framed, but looks like canvas? Not sure what that stuff is?

I'm in Northeastern PA, so somewhere in that area.

Beware, that Archos netbook has a horribly designed keyboard. The right shift key is tiny and misplaced. Maybe not a deal-killer, but something to be wary of.

Im from the DC/MD area. I wonder how many CAG are in the silver spring/rockville area
none of my blockbusters have ds lites, just a couple of dsi. do you guys think $75 is a good price?
Yes!!!! Get it. Its as closest u going to get until another price drop if any.
FYI-They had Pokemon DSI for $99. I miss out on that one:cry:

^Wow, a Pokemon DSi!?

$75 for a brand new DSi is a bargain. You shouldn't hesitate picking it up. I doubt we'll see the MSRP drop that low soon if ever.

Grabbed two Wii point cards just now for $10 each...anybody wanna trade Xbox Live points for them?

Grabbed some 3 meter HDMI cables (Norwood brand) for $3.74 each.

Wireless Xbox Live headsets still at $20.

Any chance the DS Lites dropped early in some regions? At a corporate store I was told the four DS Lites they had (they were there last day of B1G1 games sale for 92.xx or so) dropped to $50 LAST MONDAY and sold out on Wednesday. The other store had one a week or two ago and today they said it sold last week too. The girl at the first store called a couple local stores and both times she said their response was that they sold last week for $50. Seemed a little fishy, but how do I know? This is in Atlanta suburbs area BTW.

Also, one store had a Toshiba BR player was 200 now 150 and a Samsung BR player was 200 now 60% off at $75. Is the toshiba on clearance or just on sale and should the Samsung be 75% now?

I at least got a new Wii Sports resort w/MotionPlus for 25, a Transcend MicroSD 2GB for 2.50 and Lady Gaga Fame Monster for 2.50 for the wife.

I picked up one of the Archos for 59.99. I was also able to get a Sony Home Theater in a Box for 49.99, and a pair of Koss headphones in a black box for 7.50.

@jdawgg76, it might be possible that the DSlites dropped before today. KingofGames picked 2 up yesterday for $50 each.

@hawaiiboy, is the console clearance YMMV? Could a store manager clearance stuff out at their own discretion?
