The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Gen. Discussion & Info
What race are you? I'm a Breton, and I have a "Shell" spell that takes away very little magicka, but still increases the Alteration quite a bit each time I do it. I just did this for a while until I reached 75.
Im an Imperial.. Bard class. The only type of magic I have besides Illusion, Destruction, and Restiration is one that requires me to be 25 or higher in one of the other categories. I'm not level 25 so I cant use this spell, therefore I cant level up those stats :(

Sorry had to do it, that bitch vampire lady in that gusgett caves was hard as hell, I had to lure her outside and shoot arrows at her and then finally this scramp finished her off for me.

There is another Easter Egg from Morrowind as your reward if you beat the Fighter's Guild quest storyline. Looks cool, but I won't use it. Reminds me of something from Alien vs. Predator.

Can anyone tell me where I can find some vampires? I need 10 more dusts and these douchebags ain't exatcly walking around everywhere. Stupid thief guild messing up mage guild quests is retarded.
Where exactly is the skel.key when looking directly at the shrine?
It's not laying around. It's a quest you get from the shrine. Once you complete the quest the shrine will give you the Skeleton Key.

Got my Full Set of Glass Armor today. Very cool stuff and a big upgrade from the Shrouded Set I was using since just about the beginning of the game.

You need to be level 10 to do any of the Daedra Artifact quests.
Still need to find 10 vampires.
pimp - you need to beat the Dark Brotherhood questline.

I Will soon but I have a backlog of about 7 quests im tring to fulfil first.

Not true. One of the ones I was assigned I only needed to be level 2 for, and yet another I needed to be level 15. It varies by deity.

Really? Good to know. I need to find the others. I've only found 4 so far.
Anyone come across a good bow or one-handed sword? I'm a marksman and I am having trouble killing most things.
I found a one-handed glass shortsword in a cave, earlier. I'll try to tell you where it is when I get home.

I'm pretty sure the enemies you fight, have better gear depending on your level. I hadn't seen Glass gear or weapons until I was around level 21. Now EVERYONE I fight has it. Just level up and fight enemies, see what drop.
Anyone come across a good bow or one-handed sword? I'm a marksman and I am having trouble killing most things.
You can get really nice one handed swords by closing random Oblivion gates. The guys in there drop some good stuff.
Anybody find the knights tears, for the lion person from Leyawign mage guild? I dont see it at all.
You have to ask people in the game about them.
You have to ask people in the game about them.
I did, im looking for it in the jungle/tundra. Killed the big ice beast, examined the center, and spent good time looking everywhere there for it, didnt see it.
:applause: Wow ! The thread for the 360 version of Oblivion is blowing away the superior version PC thread .
By superior do you mean "Hope and pray all your complicated PC components are good enough to run this game the way the developers intended it to, and that you don't need to shell out $400 on a new video card, then download various patches, drivers, fixes in order to get the full enjoyment out of it"?

Exactely what he meant. :)

Or "Hope and pray my Xbox 360 dosen't freeze or somehow fuck up, like other people in this thread".

I know you'll reply with "My 360 has run it just perfectly!" but on the same token, my PC has run it perfectly, and it's not top of the line at all, nor have I needed any patches, drivers, or fixes. Dosen't the 360 have patches, as well?

And... a PC isn't exactly complicated, chief. But I guess it's easier to make broad generalizations about something you really don't seem to have a clue about.
Anyone know where to get troll fat for Malacath?
I see a lot of trolls in caves south east of Leyawiin. They also roam freely in the fields in that area as well.

Some people as myself are just Console Gamers. I really hate PC games. I'd rather play on a big tv then a small tiny Comp Screen. Yea, sure you do a TV out from your comp to your computer but then thats just like playign a console game but with more shit to hook up.

Also Since Like I said im not a comp gamer at all you said that your computer is not top notch but runs it just fine. Did you have to change any of the settings like Screen Resolution and stupid shit like that to get it to run clean? If so then it's not running perfect 100% on your comp.

I actually boosted screen resolution and set most of the things on high. So yea, it is running 100% perfect.

To be honest, I really don't give a fuck how you play, so you pretty much typed all that up for nothing. I was just replying to VanillaGorilla's comment with one of my own.

As long as developers keep porting their 360 games somewhere, I'll never have to drop the cash on one, and for that I'm grateful.

But this really isn't the place for a discussion like this, so lets not derail the thread any further.

LOL. Dude your a joke. But you make it seem like more people are playing it on the PC rather then the 360. IMO PC gaming blows asshole. Yes IMO now don't go Crazy on me. :) Douche :)

Bump, anyone that beat the knights tears quest, from the lion person in Leyawign mage guild, want the location of it, or what I have to do after I beat the giant icicle.

I Was Right! Thanks! :)

Anyways. I ran into Ma'rd the liar again. This time he said "Some people want these bows that take long to relaod and use a special kind of ammo called Bolts. Ma'rd calls them all Idiots". This is my 3rd time running into him and that was the best thing he said. Since Morrorwind Players kept shouting at the company to put Crossbows in the game.

Probably superior as in "the PC version looks better on my hardware so there."

I don't really care either way... I've got the PC version, it runs smoothly and looks really damn good so I'm happy with it.
There's a thread for the PC version of Oblivion, and the 360 version. Lets just keep the discussion of each to their respective threads.

Was this my post ?

People are talking about Morrowind Elder Scrolls in here , I don't see there posts being deleted/scolded .

I think i'm gonna start my game over and totally avoid any vampire contact whatsoever .

No offense, but with this one being started first and being larger, there's a lot more people checking it out than the other one. The first few times I checked it I didn't even realize it was in the Xbox 360 forum, as it does show up on the main page.

There's five little tear-shaped drops on the ground in that frozen area. I'd recommend using a potion of Restore Health if you've alchemized some as even the low level ones will restore more health than you lose. Just look around on the ground surrounding the frozen guy, I think there's also one or two on his platform (If you can get in a decent position up there, you also stop taking frost damage).

Well, I know, use whichever thread you'd like. My goal was just to keep the "PC is better, 360 is better" posts and random arguing out of either thread.

How long does it take to level up? I feel like something's wrong... I've played like 8 hours, finished several quests (delivered Martin, recaptured Kvetch, closed an Oblivion gate...) and I'm still level 1 knight??? The last part of Kvetch was crazy hard cause I just can't take many blows. I've gotten tons of messages that my sneak has increased, blade increased, etc. but still haven't actually leveled up my class. I something wrong? What levels in your major skills do you have to reach before you level up?

If you see an icon at the bottom of your screen that looks like an arrow pointed up surrounded by a half circle, that means you can level up. You just have to find an unoccupied bed to sleep in. The easiest way to get a free bed is to join the Arena - they have little mats in there you can rest on without having to pay.

In order to level up any combination of your major skills must go up by 10. You can use minor skills to get better +bonuses to your stats if you want, but that takes some careful planning and whatnot.

Ah, got it :)

So 60 hours in I finally started the main quest, since I needed a source of Daedra Hearts to get back into the Mages Guild and I also didn't feel like getting my suspension lifted anyways. Now I have to show this book to someone who spends their days locked in the Arcane University, which means I've gotta go vampire hunting to get back in. Terrific. :bomb:
sleep, and your level will increase.

i did the same thing
Thanks guys. I need to get home and do this. I'll probably be able to jump about 5 levels...
Thanks guys. I need to get home and do this. I'll probably be able to jump about 5 levels...
If you do have the experience to level more than once, the icon will still be down beside your compass after you wake up. You only have to sleep for an hour at a time to level up as well. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Well I discovered how to level up, and it turns out I was a level 7 character stuck in a level 1's body. So now I'm level 7, and have completed the first part(the easy part)of the Arena. I just killed the orc and am raking in the money. But with all that good, I've spent like 170 days in jail. I guess the Empire frowns on killing guards, stealing horses, pickpocketing, and killing innocent townspeople. Stiffs...

Where is the eye of the nocturnal located, when you need to get it from the thieves (for s.key)?

What do you do in the fighters guild? Actual hand to hand boxing fighting?

If I worked on minor skills, say blunt, blade and H2H, which govern strength, and leveled up say 20 times, will it add 20 to my stats when I level up? (since your minors multiply it)

How do I get illusion, mysticism, and conjuration up, since I have no spells that I can use to level up?

So far the only things I've done in the Fighter's Guild is quests, same as the Mage's Guild. They sent me on a quest to deliver some weapons to some other Guild members trapped in a cave full of trolls and another one to rid a woman's basement of wolves who kept eating her pet rats. Stuff like that.

Buy spells. Plenty of places/people sell them.

As I've understood and tested, the Minor Skills ONLY apply to that particular level. Let me see if I can make it a bit clearer for you.

Say you want to have Strength as a +5 for your next level.

Your major skills have Blade in them. As such, it should be paramount that your H2H and Blunt Skill raise a combined 10 points, so that you get that +5. Blade can level too if you want, but unless you level your Blade +10 ONLY, you will never get +5 without touching minor skills.

Strange how its set up, I know, but if you plan on maximizing the growth of your custom character- It's paramount that you use the Minor skills to bolster your Major Stats.

Unlike Major Skills, which will count for further levels (raising Blade 20 in one level, will allow you to level twice, with two +5 STR multipliers) Minor Skills only apply to THAT particular level, as such it's important that you don't raise your minor skills TOO high, because you will need to raise them to continue Stat Growth to 100.

This works for all Stats-- and for Major and Minor skills, as I've stated. As such, if you want to "power" level your character- it's important that you set your MAJOR skills so that you have control over when they skill up.

Remember, any combined increase of 10 in your Major Skills = A New Level. So before you get those 10 points, make sure you have planned what your going to level up in your Minor Skills to equate a +5 bonus.
--

I'd only recommend this for someone who has already beaten the main questline, or is entirely focuesed on making a power character-- Its time consuming and requires a lot of note-taking (especially at higher levels of minor skills)
