Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

PS: I'm rooting for you, Joe Buck Yourself.
I totally got this. I called Eli this morning to make sure he was going to pass to Nicks a lot and never go for field goals.

Decided to try out Magicka on my new PC.

Crashed on startup.

Great.

EDIT: Castle Crashers 66% off again... wasn't the 4-pack $15 during the Autumn Sale? Now it's 29 cents more?
Get excited - Today's Daily Deal is Crazy Machines: Everything Pack for $19.99 (60% Off).
I kind of want it but HOLY CHRIST TWENTY DOLLARS?!?

I guess I am getting old and crotchety and ridiculously cheap (In my day, which was yesterday, we paid 10 cents a game for 50 Genesis games!) but I just can't bring myself to even consider this, especially with Viva Media stuff showing up in bundles now.

By comparison, I got Viva Media's masterpiece of characterization and storytelling, The Rockin Dead, for 99 cents and it came with another game to boot.

Rocketbirds @ $4.99 - how long do you all think it will take to go lower? I've wanted this one for a while.
Also, Hell Yeah @ $3.74... very tempted.

Speaking of which, it's on sale again FOR THE EIGHT MILLION NINE HUNDRED SEVENTY TWO THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FORTH TIME.

I don't even consider purchasing Magicka to be for playing, I consider it to get them the hell off your back because they keep shoving the sales for it in your face. They totally wore me down and I just bought it.

I guess I should see if there is like 40 more pieces of DLC they churned out that I don't own and then just buy it on sale so I don't have to think about Magicka for five more minutes until they crank out a new DLC.

*Edit: Now that I have gotten my Magicka induced angst out of the way, some Qs:

Is Wanderlust still a mess?

Does Amazon Digital carry Lego Star Wars and if so have they put it on sale before or talked about doing so?

Does anyone think Tiny and Big will show up in another bundle besides the crappy Indiefort who refused to give Steam keys when it was in their bundle?

Shoite, this sale did come out of nowhere.

As an added note, CAG's should click on the "BROWSE ALL FULLY-SUPPORTED TITLES" link on the right side of the sale page to see all the discounted games.

I was, uh, indisposed and using my phone when I realized it was time for the daily update so I fired up the app. I was wondering why the specials tab was littered with so many good prices.

Anal Wake franchise for the 5th time at 75% off within half of the year (not counting other DD than Steam). It's becoming a new Magicka.
First Hell Yeah! 75% off?
By itself, yes. However if you happen to also want Binary Domain, Aliens Vs Predator, Viking and Condemned then Amazon has it in a bundle there for $20.

http://www.amazon.com/Sega-Action-only-pack-Download/dp/B00AEV8ITK

Also, I could swear GMG had it 66% off as their DotD plus the 30% off voucher you could use on top of that however it seems that they changed it to 50% off now so Steam is still cheaper.
So last night I played Saints Row 3 for like 5 hours with a buddy. Wacky fun. I did get the infamous dildo bat, and spent a few minutes cracking up over it ... I'm not normally so juvenile, but that was pretty damn funny.

I've already got my money's worth out of that humble bundle with SR3 alone. :D
I figured I'd install and run Saints Row: The Third last night (got The Whole Package during the Thanksgiving sale) just to try it out... and then two hours flew right by. Seriously, this is a really great game, and I have stayed away from most GTA-style games for a few years now for various reasons. I loved the crazy vibe, situations and dialog, and I liked how the mission variety so far was just about having fun. For what it's worth, the DLC (which The Whole Package includes) is, to me, pretty nice to have, but it's really not essential to enjoy the base game at all.

I'm glad it's part of the THQ Humble Bundle (if you BTA). Sometimes you just need a well-made game that shows a lot of care put into it which also doesn't take itself too seriously.

BTW since someone was asking about Scribblenauts yesterday, it's up on GMG now and they did extend the 30% off voucher so it's $21 there now with the voucher code.

I hate how they still do this, especially in the non-tab-able client.

First time Tiny & Big has been this low too, I've had it on my wishlist for a long time so I should know. Definitely getting that. And I'll probably be getting a Wanderlust 4-pack later today too, I'll have two available if anyone wants in.

ill take one XD

Only four things I might bite on. Orcs must die 2 , hell yeah, Tiny and Big, and intrusion 2. I doubt any of them will be cheaper come winter sale. But I have til the 10th to debate it.

IIRC, I picked it up with 2 other indie games (and a VOID slot) for $3 on GG a while back.

I'd suggest checking out Sleeping Dogs when it hits a price point you fancy ($13.60 two weeks back did it for me). It's a refreshing GTA-style game set in Hong Kong with some Batman AA/AC style melee combat. The visual styling in the game is quite HK-cinema-esque, and walk the line between violent gang member and undercover cop.
Only four things I might bite on. Orcs must die 2 , hell yeah, Tiny and Big, and intrusion 2. I doubt any of them will be cheaper come winter sale. But I have til the 10th to debate it.
I think they're all safe except Intrusion 2, no harm in waiting for that and seeing if it makes the jump to 75% later.
IIRC, I picked it up with 2 other indie games (and a VOID slot) for $3 on GG a while back.
I think I remember that, I meant on Steam though.

Tiny and Big smells unavoidable humble bundle for me. Intrusion smells like Indie Royale. No reason not to pick up OMD2. With Hell Yeah I would wait until Tony's word about it. Maybe you'll be able to pick it for same price from Amazon, but also with $5 coupon.

So apparently you can try out Big Picture on your PC. It does its job of making Steam easily accessible for people who are actually going to use Steam on their TVs, but for PC users it's a bit pointless. Restart your client for the update, then click the Big Picture icon in the top right to try it out. Not for me, but if you're into that sort of thing or you want to see what it is, hands-on.

Since you brought this up, how the hell is this actually supposed to work? Is it just for people with media center PCs or people willing to buy a 100' HDMI cable to run from the computer room to the living room?

What... A feature that isn't for everyone?!?!?!?! Like every other feature on steam? Insanity... damn you Valve trying to appeal to all different types of people!

I may end up using big picture mode once I get a mini hdmi to hdmi cord because, and I know this may seem odd, I would like the audio to go through the TV I would be using. And it would be really nice since I have set up my wireless PS3 controller on my PC. I could finally sit back on my couch and play Saints Row 3 and Dark Souls rather than the current using a wireless controller while still sitting at my computer desk.

This may surprise you but some people do shockingly have their TV and computer in the same room.

Steam Big Picture mode is pretty awesome actually. Currently my HTPC is running XBMC on Linux, but have been thinking of changing over to Windows so that I can use XBMC and Steam Big Picture, as there are several scripts and launchers to make them both work together.

I tried the beta of Big Picture a few months ago on my monitor and it was pretty nice. When I moved an old PC to my living room and hooked it up to the TV, I figured I would be sorted.... alas, Big Picture is not compatible with XP.... hum

Neither of those posts called for such douchey replies, but good for you for taking out some passive aggressive angst towards undeserving CAGs. Do you feel better now, little Kaltic? Here, have a lollipop. Sorry that we don't carry penis-flavored ones.

Big Picture has been a Steam beta feature for a few months now. It's got a Windows Media Center feel to it, and I don't use either on my laptop. I imagine it's nice for TVs and higher resolution monitors like the ones mentioned a few pages back, Kaltic's mom, and Sarah Jessica Parker's teeth.
