I just went on XBL for a bit, checked the demos (I wanted to DL Sonic) and SVR 2007 is now up!

1.06gb though :whistle2:\
Sooo, looks like I'll be playing this tonight when I come home from work.

Go DL it! I'm kinda excited for this game! (Loved SVR 2006..)

EDIT: Changed the title from DEMO OUT NOW, to.. OUT now :)

Im actually at 22%.. going more quicker then I assumed. I doubt it'll be done by 7am..cuz that's when I have to leave....hate to leave the 360 on ALL day :( (im sure people have though..) it just makes me nervous for like.. overheating issues and whatnot

Can't you set it to shut off after 6 hours of inactivity?

yeah, guess so! I guess 6 hours isn't too bad!
(I just got my 360 for my birthday last week..and the one I got for my bday was broke LOL.. so this is my 2nd one, and I'm just being extra careful and cautious!)

Mine locked up while I was playing.
Actually, the commentary continued while the two guys just stood there, grappling.

They got caught up in the heat of the moment.

Not bad. I like this. I look forward to playing the full version.

So, is the game any good? Never been much a fan of Smackdown games, and I don't watch wrestling on TV but some of the games are fun. Figure I'll check it out, just curious on some thoughts.

This plays lightyears better than the previous Smackdown titles. A combination of lightning-fast gameplay and unrealistic physics led to too many guys getting knocked silly by the smallest of maneuvers. Like the Kevin Nash/Hollywood Hogan "finger poke of doom," but worse by a million times.

This is a damned fun game; didn't crash on me (only played one quick match before heading out this morning), I thought the commentary was top notch (with JR making fun of Jerry Lawler's multiple marriages), and the gameplay was very tight and had a better pace than I remember the Yuke's games having.

Dare I say I even prefer the control mechanism to Day of Reckoning, the only game series to come close to replicating the awesome awesome AKI N64 wrestling games? I dare say indeed.

Now, the last game I played with any regularity was Here Comes the Pain. I played Smackdown vs. Raw for 15 minutes before reselling it on eBay, and I only played 2006 for the PSP, which I played for 3 hours (after loading, I came *thisclose* to getting the same amount of playtime I had with SvR). The PSP version was dreadfully not fun, because the load times had me so fucking angry before I got to the actual match that I couldn't enjoy it.

At any rate, this will be a purchase on launch day for me. Add me to your XBL friends list, so I can take you to school in an online tag match (with me as Demolition, of course!)

Sounds like a plan. :)

If only there would be custom entrance music and entrances during online matches. I want my opponent to see me come out to "Ikari No Jushin" in all my glory before they are taken down for the 3-count.

Try talking that shit when you're in the stump puller!

...or when I break out my secret weapon, SKINNER!
After being on the team that made Legends 2 (keep your jokes to yourself, I know it sucks) I don't think I can play another wrestling game again.
Y'know, Legends of Wresling II was the best of the series.

Of course, asking yourself "What was the best Legends of Wrestling game?" is akin to asking yourself if you prefer Syphillis to Gonorrhea. (sorry, can't help myself).

Next time I'm on Live I'll have to check this out. I have not played a wrestling game in about 3-4 years. I saw a video a while back that looked pretty cool though so I figured I'd give this a rent.

In the demo, can you fight into the crowd and use weapons and stuff?

Legends of wrestling showdown was quite good though.. i enjoyed it.. to bad the license went under

I haven't watched wrestling since the WWE was WWF. Love playing the games though. After Wrestlemania for Xbox I was gonna give up on them so hopefully the demo will pull me back in.

At least Kane is in it.

Not bad. I hated the Smackdown series with a passion and this is a pretty substantial step in the right direction. Was probably going to buy it anyway, but this pretty much sealed the deal.

And unless you have a photo of yourself dressed up as Smash for Halloween in 5th grade, no one else has any right to lay claim to playing as Demolition over me.

hahaahah yea thats it.. I QUIT!!!!

Hows the controlling compared to ps2 versions.. im used to that a little more i guess..

I so wish though that day of reckoning would have continued on 360 instead of smackdown but whatever.. anything is good..

make wm21 bc dammit!

but yea i figured as well we would get the same kane/hhh demo.. I feel like slapping thq though for selecting those 2 out of the whole roster for a demo... fuck i would of preferred mark henry over either of these two

Controls are pretty good. It took me a little bit to get used to, but by the 3rd match I was able to Pedigree Kane's head into the mat for the 3 count. I really like how it seems to be very challenging and makes you really work hard for the victory.

Hopefully there's a decent CAW system and custom entrance themes, and I'll be happy. Still, if I could make a grand entrance to "Ikari No Jushin" and then LigerBomb my online opponents into the mat... that would be the ultimate.

Well, not really. The ultimate would be next-gen graphics and features with AKI N64 wrestling gameplay. But you get the picture. :D

Hmmm... a free demo is a good thing so I guess I'll try it. I haven't played a wrestling game since Pro Wrestling for the NES though. It has to be better than Sonic though which was on my hard drive for all of 15 minutes.

Well it looks like microsofts demo strategy works.. i guess they are betting on people that normally wouldnt get this game to try it.. and hopefully they may like it enough to buy it...

For me though doesnt matter as ive bought almost every wrestling game released on launch day

You mean, every game except the ones like WCW Backstage Assault, right?

(worried)

RIGHT?!

HOLY fuck ! What a surprise! Smackdown is my favorite series, like my own personal Madden. Good timing too. I had so many Smackdown wars with a college roommate, and he is visiting this weekend. Thanks OP!
ok.. well i have all those wcw games.. but i didnt get them at launch.. no money back then
That's OK, then.

I actually had a friend who bought that WCW Nitro game for PlayStation on launch day. He ended up kicking himself because he found the best part to be the little video snippets you could watch during the character selection.

It got ridiculous with all the hidden characters in that game.

o yea i always hated those nitro games.. i probably hated them more just because i was really anti playstation back then.. i own nitro and thunder now though.. god they sucked ass

wcw mayhem was actually quite fun and i like to play it still every now and then.. the crowd was pretty awesome in that game..

fuck of course it comes out while I can't access Xbox Live until next weekend :)

At any rate, I'm glad that it seems like a solid wrestling title. I expect a lot of CAG participation in this game, and I definitely think we should set up some tourneys for the CAG Heavyweight belt, Tag Team belts, Intercontinental title, and more! Also, like I said before in another thread that mentioned this game, we should even set up some CAG stables.

I actually wouldn't know. I just know that playing Legends II for 70 hours a week for months was all I could take of wrestling in any incarnation. :)

The "Legends" characters haven't been announced yet to my knowledge, but Stone Cold is pretty likely to be one of them

I did the same thing, but with WCW/nWo Thunder, and I really did only buy it for the little video snippets, they were great for prank calls (keep in mind I was 12 or so).

Alex Wright: "HEY MAN! It's Alex Wright, the German, if you vant to know vhat the Germans are all about, pick me and ve'll have a hell of a wictory, I promise!"

The saddest thing is that I can probably recite all of them from the top of my head.

Man I loves those little videos on Nitro. It was much better on PC though cause there was a huge mod scene at the time. Different voice overs, music, reskins, etc.

Anyway, demo is sweet. New control scheme, and switching from a PS2 to 360 controller is kicking my ass, but its still fun. Interesting little mini games too, in certain moves, situations

Hmmm....some animosity towards Hulk from the SS incident kept him off the roster maybe? Overall, I think its a nice line up with contemporary and some classic legends. As much as I love Foley though, I think I could deal without all 3 of his personalities being on the legends list and including a couple other people that should be on there.

Considering I just bought WWF: No Mercy for the N64 two days ago and am enjoying it quite a bit, I don't think I'm too interested.
