Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Some OT: How did y'all come up with your online handle and/or GT names?

Mine are typically music references from when I was a teenager. CDS is in reference to A Long December (which name was typically taken on a lot of forums.) My GT's TheOrdinaryHero is because one of my favorite bands, Beloved, used to do an awesome cover of the Foo Fighters, Hero.
Something with Xxx in the beginning and end than Dark and or Lord something (or a combination of both) add 420, then seeing if it's available then continue adding numbers to it until I get it.

I like zombie stuff. Tried about a dozen non zombie gamertags that were all taken first though.
Another handle is broken records. I like vinyl and like that it's a play on words for.

Got mine from pogo.com. The girls in high school called me papabear, that name was taken so it suggested pbear489. I took it and after a few years and got my 360 I dropped the p.

Has anyone tried gamesharing the Game Pass yet to see if it works? There's only 30 games in the Game Pass list I don't own, but if I split the $10 down the middle with my gamesharing partner.... $5 a month for some occasional new gameplay isn't bad. I've spent $5 on random indie game purchases that I've played once and uninstalled immediately after.

In Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the French castle guards launch the Trojan Bunny, the MCs make, over the castle walls. Twelve year old me saw this and though "Oh look, an ejected bunny" This was the day i created my first email account, and i ran with it.... That was almost 2 decades ago.. I'm starting to feel old now.

This is my second-ish online handle. The first one I made as a 10 year old on AvP2 (Alien Destroyer, wasn't I a clever 10 year-old?), then I modified it a bit because it was silly for non-AvP2 use, taking inspiration from my gf's nickname for my original handle. After we split up about four years later, I was in my college's new chatroom/filehosting thing and decided to pick a more normal-sounding handle. BobbyTastic is the first thing I thought of that I really liked, other people liked it, and I've kept it since.

What's funny is my first handle "alien destroyer" is still in my main non-professional email address and people always snicker a bit when it shows up/I have to confirm it at GameStop, Best Buy, etc. Sometimes it's embarrassing but most of the time I just roll with it. I've had the email for almost 15 years, after all. :bouncy:

Imagine saying ejectedbunny out loud in public. Half the time people look at me like I've just spunked all over Mother Teresa and drop it. The other half always ask me how i got the name then laugh. The most common nickname i get is ejaculated bunny..... seriously ppl!

I'm pretty sure I was the first person to proclaim myself as a fan of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon on the internet.

Anak Chuckatoa - My name is Chuck and a buddy of mine called me Chuckatoa once (a play on Krakatoa, my favorite volcano). That sounded good, but I wanted "more." I saw that there is a volcanic island called Anak Krakatau (Krakatoa), which means "Son of Krakatoa." That hit the spot, so there you go - well worth the $10 to change the GT from my first and last name.

chnandler_bong - I think this one is self explanatory.

got my Elite controller day one in Oct. 2015. Grips on the back are peeling off so I did an online chat with MS support. They had me email proof of purchase and now they're sending me a new one after I send this one back, awesome.
Update: they got my elite controller yesterday and shipped a brand new controller to me overnight. They're replacing elite controllers out of warranty so if you have any problems, do an online chat.

Got lucky and was able to use my sn I use on most forums and websites. FlamedLiquid. Came up with the name years ago thinking about gasoline.

$1 Gold popped for me today. Winner!

GT - someT00L...Just play some TOOL man! Actually it started as sumtool...Worked with statistics for years and people were amazed by my ability to not use a calculator...thus I was branded as a sum tool (Human Calculator)

For online stuff I default to pittsnoggle, old college basketball player with a cool name, my original GT was bad so I finally paid to change it and I like game of thrones

Tandjame = my nickname and my wife's nickname. To help her feel "included". It's also why whenever I have the option, I play as a chick and give her some iteration of my wife's name.

Superman 2 being one of my favorites comic book movies of all time (and not just the Donner Cut but also the Richard Lester version).

But mainly because I saw Michael Shannon on Letterman while promoting "Man of Steel" and said Zod could've been a great doctor as opposed to a general. Still can't believe Snyder and David Goyer flat out refused to use Terrance Stamp's iconic "Kneel before Zod" line in the film. It would've been the greatest nod to a previous movie ever.

So 2K shut down the WWE 2K16 online servers the day before it goes on Game Pass? Stupid idiots.

You know what happens when you shut down the servers the day before Game Pass?

...You know what happens?

my GT is The SCHWARTZ 00

Fast forward to :25-:32

the two zeroes at the end of my GT is actually supposed to symbolize Dot Matrixs'  look of amazement.

When I was in college, I was too broke to afford Jose Cuervo. At the liquor store, they had a generic version called Jose Cortez which was cheaper. The "K" comes from the first letter of my real name. I've used Jose Kortez as an alias many times in the real world except when being stop and frisked by ICE agents.

So I'm late to the party, I know. However, Overwatch is so amazing!
A bit overwhelming. Wish there was tutorials for the classes. Anyone got tips for a complete noon to this genre?

Huge Arnold fan. First name is Dustin so I took Terminator and added my spin to give it flavor. When I created my gamer tag over a decade ago, half of my five friends at the time on xbl had the -ator at the end. Brianator and Craiginator if I recall correctly. Befriended them through random encounters in the early 360 days

Fun fact - email address I've had for almost two decades is tiltedkilt21. I was a teen then, so I added a Scottish twist to the address. Always got awkward looks when I spelled out that addy, never knew why. Only until the early 2010's did I realize there's a restaurant called Tilted Kilt. Just like Hooters cept the chicks wear super short plaid kilts and white tops that totally show off their mid drift and cleavage. Still rattle it off proudly w/e

There is a training area to let you get the feel of each character, and there is also a mode to play against just Bots as well. Feel free to add me. I don't play too often but I have been grinding for anniversary loot boxes lately.

Welcome to Overwatch! I would say just keep picking the same person til you master them and then move to the next.

My loot boxes have been so lame lately, I havent gotten a good skin in weeks!

I had absolutely no creativity as a teenager, but I asked myself "What's a cool name to represent me?"  At that time, I was over-the-top obsessed with a professional basketball team, the Dallas Mavericks, so of course the first thing I said was  "well I'm a Maverick fan!"  However, I couldn't stop there because all the cool kids had numbers in their GTs.

So "MaverickFan11" became M4V3R1CKfan11.  Just added the 11 because it's my favorite number.  Been wanting to change it because I'm not 17 anymore, but the cost kinda puts me off.  I think it'll happen in the near future though.

I'm impressed with how a lot of your GTs were formed. Great question snow!

These boxes don't give anything other than cosmetic changes correct? Also only obtained through leveling?
I am having a lot of fun. Only tried Ana so far, but it seems to work as in always the only healer in the matches.

Leveling your profile and every three wins (up to nine total) in Arcade mode each week. It's only cosmetic stuff.

It's either a reference to a Metallica song or a John Donne poem depending on who asks or it means nothing and I just liked the idea of the name.

lol speaking of achievements....Tekken 7 hasn't even been out 24 hours and 5 people have already 100%'d the game on TA, and numerous others over on the PSN. Think I'll rent it from Gamefly and add my name to the list.

Propellerhead's Matrix song, Spybreak (short one) blew my mind so much it became my handle as Spybreaker. I also like spies and it's like counter spies shit, also cool.

Hit 7 game winning shoots in 2 season on the ol' varsity team. Even held a few state AA records for three point shooting back in the day before everybody started jacking 3's up every trip down the court. Local paper came up with it and I just rolled with it.

I played a ton of Diablo 2 as a teenager. When you beat the game they would give you titles based on the difficulty you completed. I believe it was Sir, King and maybe one other. Either way I played so much with different characters that I figured it would be fun to think up dumb names that incorporated the titles so I played through as Loinsteak until earning my knighthood. Thinking back on picking it for my gamertag it seems silly but at the time a gamertag seemed almost meaningless so I pretty much picked the first thing that I could think of that wasn't taken and didn't have numbers in it. Really I just wanted to start gaming, screw all that bogus account creation bologna.

Even as a grown ass man I had no creativity. So I took a nickname (just a variant of my first name). It was taken. Picked some random numbers and there you have it.

I did have another "gamer tag" when playing Quake on PC but didn't care for it so didn't use that (or some variant of) when I got back into gaming.

I am literally paid to be creative... and my main online names are just characters from Dragonball Z and Trigun... hahah They stick though! I made all my online accounts when I was like 11-14 with those names and they all just seem to stick with us forever then : P

Okay that's extremely awesome, I dig it.

My GT is PageAndScreen. My wife has a beauty blog and thought that I should create a blog to share my thoughts, especially since I had written for a now defunct PS4 news site. I wanted to make one centered around books, movies, and TV. When thinking of a name, I thought about the term used for a Broadway actor that was also a film star: "star of stage and screen." That became Page & Screen. Now I use it for most everything.

Nobody can beat my lack of creativity.

XBL - chriscolbert
PSN - chriscolbert

And yes, my name is Chris Colbert and apparently I have nothing to hide or protect in my life.

Most of my hobbies/work/education involve a lot of thinking, so I went with Psi as in psionics (and that old Marvel comic Psi Force) and the scream part because a) if I stand out from a crowd it's partly due to my ideas and b) gaming is an outlet from the real world so it seemed to fit.

I used to listen to an absurd amount of Talib Kweli and I'm not creative at all. The name Talib in Arabic means "Seeker of or Student" and Kweli means "Of Truth of Knowledge" in Ghanaian so I thought that was cool at the time. It's kinda lame, but I've had it so long I can't bear to change it.

This month's Rewards survey asked which % of gaming do you do on certain consoles. I had to pick 75% for Xbox and 25% for Nintendo but it's more like 95% Xboxes, 5% Wii U. That wasn't an option though. Also lol, looks like they're looking directly at portability & battery power of the Switch and these questions after they talked about the Scorpio...possibly a tablet Xbox Scorpio bundle (this would be a way to play PlayAnywhere titles on the go technically)?
I think if they are looking at something portable it's a couple years off at minimum. They've never shown much interest in the past, and I know somewhat recently I saw Spencer say something along the lines of mobile games having the space dominated. This seemed pretty dumb in context because it was obviously referring to worthwhile portable games like the 3DS has and they really don't fill the same space.

I don't know if a portable Xbone would make sense either, you either go full digital (suicide), put a disc-drive on it (stupid), or introduce a new game format to make cartridges possible, which really doesn't seem feasible since everyone already is disc based. Patches seem like they'd be a problem, they're a lot more prevalent on the Xbox then Switch, and seem to be updated as though space is not a factor in anyone judging from how big some of the first-party games have ballooned to.

A lot of thought went into your GT's, nice reading about them.

When Xbox released a bunch of gamertags I wanted a simple one. I thought I grabbed "tong" but it didn't go through. After a refund from MS support, I was able to change my name with no charge! So I went with slox.

My older gamertag (darkblueprint) is from my two favorite albums at the time: (still classics no doubt but music taste has changed since 2010) "Dark" from Kanye's 5th studio album, and Blueprint from Jay Z's 6th studio album.

Mad Bull Fever (gamertag) has a few meanings.
1) it's a soca music slang for getting down with a girl on the dance floor like these people https://youtu.be/8G4jnoTxRVs
2) in Trini slang, to Bull is to fuck so it's like you're rough and ready.
3) growing up in Trinidad, we made kites from scratch and flew them with glass or razor blades on the tail to cut the string of the other kids' kites in the neighborhood and the Mad Bulls were the biggest and heaviest kites. Usually made from sticks and a Brown paper bag.
4) it's a play on Mad Cow Disease.

Buy a XIM4. I'm selling mine because I've successfully gone cold turkey on Overwatch. I still get the shakes. Can't ever look back...
