Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Don't know why this didn't dawn on me earlier, but I finally figured out which Telltale Xbox One game discs work with and without the disc.

You can only play without the disc if it is a SEASON PASS disc AND you already own Episode 1 of the game then download all the Episodes from the in-game store.

Work without disc:

-------------------------

Batman Telltale

Game of Thrones

Minecraft Story Mode Season Pass Disc (does not include Ep. 6-8)

SHOULD work, but nobody has confirmed it:

------------------------------------------------------------

Walking Dead: New Frontier

Guardians of the Galaxy

Require disc because entire game is on the disc and not a Season Pass:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minecraft Story Mode: The Complete Adventure

Tales from the Borderlands

Walking Dead Season One and Season Two

Wolf Among Us

Back to the Future

If I'm wrong on any of these, please correct me.

Oof at that Tekken price, but hey It's better than nothing right?

The Phantom Dust free pack gives you all the skills for 3 out of 5 schools and you get 3 of each. Just leaving you with the Ki and Faith skills to build up. Not bad.

Not sure when the multiplayer online only skills are dropping though.

That is the most shitty list of marvel characters I could've ever imagined. How can you not have at least ONE major X-Men character?
The cynic in me says Disney won't let anyone acknowledge X-Men are Marvel until they come home. Just like Spider-Man.

Guessing it will never happen since Paradise is already BC, but I'd kill to have Burnout Revenge added to BC. People consider Paradise the better game and, sure, it's great and huge. But Revenge still had a ridiculous sense of speed and greater thrill to me.

(This post sponsored by Danger Zone, sadly not on X1)
I do think it's a 50/50 dividing game for some odd reason, but Burnout Paradise had everything, it's my xbox 360 game of the generation up there with Dead Space or Red Dead, it's so sad how far that studio fell after getting bought by EA to do Need for Speed stuff and then now a few of the core complains that they don't have any money to do Xbox stuff. I get there are fine details but to just dismiss Xbox while dopey people like me bought your golf game in the hope we get some more burnout like they alluded too, sorry burn in flames.

Burnout Revenge was great, obviously not as good as Takedown but was the best thing next to it. The only thing that bothered me about the game was people who had the best cars in the game destroying the people who haven't unlocked them yet, so basically every online game was the same car.

I could never get into Burnout Paradise and I know I am not alone in that fact.

I would love to see Takedown go BC to get the best of both worlds. I'd also like to see EA remake/remaster Burnout Takedown so I can give them all my $$$.

Does anyone know what the giant Phantom Dust patch did outside of giving us the free GWG thing? I noticed a ping in matches before which is new but I'm trying to figure out what else was added.

Edit: Looks like the tips screens during loading require a button press to skip now. So you can actually read them.

I believe you're right unfortunately. I'd honestly rather have wolverine or deadpool over any of those characters. An old man Logan costume would top it off for me.

SHOULD work, but nobody has confirmed it:

Walking Dead: New Frontier
Picked this up on sale. Now that the final episode is coming out I'll try testing it out and get back to you. Is there any way to test if it works before getting to the season pass episodes (2-5)?

I'm hoping Doom looks really nice. I just got the copy I bought from Gamefly for $13 and saw it's 70GB total. I think the only thing I have that's more than that is battlefield 4 with all the DLC.

So if any other Xbone Insider did the Groove Music Pass trial thing, I got a message from Xbox Live yesterday with a code for a free 3 months of the Music Pass. 4 months of it for free is not a bad deal at all, so I'd recommend getting on that while you can.

Code for the extra 3 months expires July 31st, so you don't even have to use it right away.

Japan is confirmed to be getting Zoo Tycoon at the end of the month for Xbone instead of Watch_Dogs according to the Wiki and a few German websites, so don't forget to grab that in about 15 days. I hope they repeat Lococycle eventually since I missed it. :wall:

Speedrunners is launching with $12 worth of DLC. The deluxe edition with all the DLC is $17, making the game worth $5. I can live with a game that launches as GWG having one day 1 DLC for $3 - $5, but this is pretty scummy.

Oh! I was under the impression they would be on sale too.
Same. I probably would have bit at $5 since it hasn't been on sale since last year. Sucks, but hopefully they'll be more generous in upcoming weeks.

Double post, but June's survey and the new big rewards promo are up. Spend $60 on Treasure Finding related games and movies. Here's the list of eligible games.

Games must be purchased in the Xbox Store and be from this list of approved titles: 1001 Spikes, Aban Hawkins & the 1000 SPIKES, ABZU, Adam's Venture: Origins, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Bard's Gold, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Contrast, Deadfall Adventures, Guardians of Middle-earth, INSIDE, INSIDE & LIMBO Bundle, King's Quest, King's Quest: The Complete Collection, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Lara Croft: GoL, Lazy Raiders, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game, LEGO Indiana Jones, LEGO Indiana Jones 2, LEGO Lord of the Rings, LEGO The Hobbit, Leo's Fortune, LIMBO, Lost Sea, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, Monkey Island 2: SE, Monkey Island: SE, Nightmares from the Deep 2: The Siren's Call, Nightmares from the Deep Bundle, Nightmare from the Deep: The Cursed Heart, Oceanhorn - Monster of Uncharted Seas, Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition, Pharaonic, Pixel Piracy, Port Royale 3, Prince of Persia, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Rebel Galaxy, ReCore, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, Risen 2: Dark Waters, Sacred Citadel, Shadow Complex, Snake Pass, Song of the Deep, Spelunky, Subject 13, Submerged, Syberia, Syberia 2, Syberia 3, The Flame in the Flood, The Long Dark (Game Preview), The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, The Turing Test, Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Tomb Raider: Legend, Zuma, Zuma's Revenge!

There's a few games from the BC sale on there (Lazy Raiders, LEGO Indiana Jones, Spelunky, Zuma, Zuma's Revenge, probably others I'm missing) and some stuff from the MS sale last week (Ori, ReCore, Rise of the Tomb Raider Complete) which of course if you bought them during the sales they won't count towards this promo. There's even the current GWG in there for some reason.

The one game that's on sale this week that's eligible is The Long Dark. I'll do my best to point out eligible content on sale throughout the month.

There's also a Gwent sweepstakes thing that's pretty simple. No referrals required as far as I can tell.

Edit: Don't forget the Retro Rewards promo is live until the 6th, and I think Tekken 6 would count towards it.

Edit 2: Really interesting survey this month. Lots of questions about E3, Sony and Nintendo. Won't seem to save my answers at the end though.  :wall:

It's not worth it... It doesn't make Connor anymore likeable of a character and it feels pretty rushed and nothing memorable.
To each their own, but I completely disagree. The King Washington episodes are great.

Not sure how eagle flight powers, bear stomp powers, and murdering wolf powers are "nothing memorable."

Bardockkun plz.

Does anyone here buy Smite content regularly? I'd like to refer some people for the XBL Rewards thing to get the DLC pack and rewards credits.

I do what rewards you talking about
He is talking about the Better With Friends Bundle. Both you and the person you refer get a 200 gem and 15 day booster pack. A word of warning though. They just changed the faq to state you can only use one bundle code per account.

Three episodes and three hours of gameplay total with very little distractions and just a linear story already gave it no time to be memorable. The powers themselves added nothing to the overall gameplay to make it stand out from III as you still had the same mission structure and were each introduced within each chapter so really no time to experiment or care overall. If anything the wolf power was just an excuse to do have a forced stealth sequence as that ability is no different from calling an assassin down to kill someone. So nope, nothing memorable besides just more boring ass angsty Connor.

OPINIONS!

The team has said no characters are off limits but everyone is thinking this just means X-Men will be DLC, probably based on a mandate from Marvel/Disney. If they add Storm, Magneto, and Sentinel they have guaranteed sales from the MvC competitive community that would already be buying all character DLC anyways. Wolverine is guaranteed sales from everyone else. It's pretty shitty and if they have more than one classic X character I'm going to fell that they wasted too many slots for DLC on characters that deserve to be there at launch.

If we look back at MvC3, there were 3 classic characters that returned through DLC, 4 if you count Frank West from his Tatsunoko vs Capcom appearance, though Jill was essentially a new character since her moveset changed entirely. However, all six of Marvel's added characters in Ultimate were from current or future MCU additions, so if the same philosopy is here we probably wouldn't see X-Men.

So far the only confirmed DLC is Sigma from the Mega Man X games, with Venom rumored from the same leaker as the full roster.

http://gematsu.com/2017/06/square-enix-people-can-fly-announce-partnership-aaa-console-pc-title

I guess Gearbox's potential plan to bankrupt the company to absorb them through the definite flop of a $60 Bulletstorm Remaster didn't work. A partnership with Square Enix is kind of surprising, but I guess they wanted someone to fill IO Interactive's void. They didn't buy them outright it seems. I wonder if Gearbox managed to steal the Bulletstorm IP in their publishing deal. I would like to see a sequel, which is definitely what they should have done instead of a full priced remaster.

What I'm seeing here is Squeenix wanting in on the ever popular FPS market as a much safer bet (in theory) then a game like Hitman. Shooters are all People Can Fly have ever made with Painkiller, Gears of War Judgement, and Bulletstorm. I'm guess if they put them on a AAA game it has to be part of the Marvel deal, though I don't really have any idea what angle they'll come at it from.

I accidentally pulled off a pretty neat car stunt last night in Mafia III. I fucking love videogames. Please enjoy.

Agree; I don't have to delete cookies in most cases, but the amount of login/logout, and attempts with different browsers is getting out of hand. Price of security? Maybe.

That is an interesting survey; my answers won't save either.

Re the month of May's gaming in review, I did complete Mass Effect Andromeda in its entirety. As a huge Mass Effect fan, the game started off on a disappointing note: the combat had changed substantially; I avoided crafting entirely as it was too confusing; and my comrades weren't as enjoyable. By the end though, my opinions shifted considerably. Combat, and the availability of different powers/loadouts are a lot of fun, and the overall story arc was pretty decent. I do wish there was more enemy variety, and the number of open world filler quests is mind-numbing. Crafting, as it turns out, is great once you get the hang of it, and really, even on insanity all you need is a level 3 and a level 8 set to see you through the entire game. Hopefully the next installment will keep the good, and improve on the bad. My rating gradually improved from 6/10 to 7.5/10.

I did attempt to go back to Horizon: Zero Dawn, but after Andromeda I couldn't muster the energy to get back into another epic, so it's on the backburner for now. I did, however, get into Xbox Fitness (I had paid DLC) and man that thing is kicking my ass. Kinect performance is much better than it is with the 360 though, plus I'm definitely getting fitter while playing. Will be sad to see this title go offline at the end of the month. Also, booted up Zumba: World Tour... ya, let's not dwell on my dancing prowess.

This month I would like to play a couple of the Arcade games I bought in the BC sale, finish one classic 360 title (perhaps Assassin's Creed 1, Rage, or Dead Space), play King's Quest or a Telltale game, and continue with the Kinect stuff.

Re: Shadow of War

Either the game REALLY needs the extra 2 months which means it's in bad shape or they're worried about bad word of mouth killing the franchise altogether so they're polishing the fuck out of it.

Game's better off with the delay, but yeah, it went from having 0 competition to a decent amount.

^ I've read a few comments that possibly the delay is to coincide with the Scorpio launch. All rumors of course.

Remember, this year MS is the marketing sponsor for both Shadow of War and - rumored - Assassin's Creed Origins.

Expect both on stage in 10 days at the Xbox presser.

I usually accumulate 2,000+ gamerscore a month, but the month of May had me at only 800. Probably cause I've been playing more online co-op games w/buddies. And finding a perfectly working GameCube for $8 at a yard sale didn't help either. Knocking out that GameCube backlog finally!!!

Beaten and removed from the backlog: Far Cry 3 and Far Cry Blood Dragon
Removed from the backlog cause it ain't my cup of tea: Lies of Astaroth, Clicker Heroes and Earthlock

Getting back into Gems of War. Love that game

Was hoping to Black Friday that game. With the new release date there may not much savings involved; we shall see. Loved the first game.

Dead Rising 4: Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf launches 6/20. (Final part of the Season Pass.)
Finally, I was wondering when this shit would come out. Can't wait to get all the achievements and delete DR4 from my hard drive.

Not that it was a bad game, I just need the extra space lol.

I don't think MS would release a console in October, but I guess I could believe the delay is to give them time to make an amazingly optimized Scorpio/W10 versions. Otherwise I stand by my previous statement.

That would make sense to have it as a launch title for Scorpio.

Especially with it being Play Anywhere.

Also, RIP BC Program...

Guessing Crackdown goes BC next week in anticipation of E3. Maybe have Crackdown 1+2 free with Crackdown 3 pre-orders. I know the first one was GWG anyways.

Speaking of GWG, what's up with Japan getting Max Curse of the Brotherhood GWG 7 times on X1? lol.

I just noticed they got Zoo Tycoon this month as well, So glad I held off on that sale. It's gotta come eventually. Granted we haven't gotten Kalimba, Lococycle or PowerstarGolf (full version) yet.

I take it we won't see any BC titles the week of E3 as well, at least for the Tuesday.

36 GB World of Tanks update? Really? Wow.

Also just got IW Season Pass and the two already released DLCs are 12 GBs each.

Sometimes I hate all of this, Zelda is just 16 GB.

So I hopped on the hype train with blinkknot for Tokyo 42, and I'm very pleased I did. But the text in that game is so freaking small! Maybe im going blind, but on a 42" tv and only sitting 7-8 feet from the screen I shouldn't have to keep leaning in to read the mission goals and NPC conversations. Hope they patch it soon.

After doing 20 monthly surveys I'll now have enough Xbox Live Rewards credits to get $5.00 deposited into my account. With a discounted $5.00 gift card from Bing Rewards I'm going to get Max Payne 2. A physical copy can probably be found for $5.00, but physical Original Xbox games can't be installed to the 360 hard drive, and I won't have to worry about the disc being unplayable at some point in the game.

Now I have to start doing the surveys so I'll have $5.00 to spend in the 2019 Spring sale.

This month's Rewards survey asked which % of gaming do you do on certain consoles. I had to pick 75% for Xbox and 25% for Nintendo but it's more like 95% Xboxes, 5% Wii U. That wasn't an option though. Also lol, looks like they're looking directly at portability & battery power of the Switch and these questions after they talked about the Scorpio...possibly a tablet Xbox Scorpio bundle (this would be a way to play PlayAnywhere titles on the go technically)?

AH I could be just dreamin' though.

So I grabbed a Halo Wars 2 UE code from a CAG and everything was pushed to my Xbox. I get everything downloaded and decided to take out the disc and run the game. The Xbox One says I need the disc if I don't own it check it out in the store. I open up the Store interface and it says Play. I click Play and it says I don't own it. Mother fucker. So I uninstalled the Halo Wars 2 disc version and almost instantly got 1 in my Ready to Install under that game's manage game UI. Sure enough, there it is, Halo Wars 2. Again, for the 3rd time I'm downloading the entirety of the game. I figured if they had me download the entirety of the game before because their update was fubared I'd be able to play without the disc. I guess two heads aren't talking to each other. This is like the typical Microsoft workaround BS you have to deal with.

Working through other Game Pass titles and the Swapper is amazing. I'd already heard it praised a lot, but its like a 2D Metroid meets Portal and those old puzzle platformers like Flashback on the SNES (but way less frustrating). Great atmosphere, too.

Picking up the Culling tomorrow but forgot my Gold expired. If anyone wants to throw some trials they aren't going to use my way that would be sick nasty.

Really good game. I had one or two puzzles that stomped my brain in, but still got through it really enjoyed it.

You need to purchase the game while it's available in the promo. If you already own it, I guess you're SOL for the week.
So, an easy pass then? :)

This gives me more time to save up for that ridiculous Mithril Edition. Also, this gives me more time to pretend like I'm going to play the first game.

I bought that game months? ago and I only got a portion of the way through the game before I set it down. I don't think I have the patience or the cognition (or both) for that type of game anymore.

Some OT: How did y'all come up with your online handle and/or GT names?

Mine are typically music references from when I was a teenager. CDS is in reference to A Long December (which name was typically taken on a lot of forums.) My GT's TheOrdinaryHero is because one of my favorite bands, Beloved, used to do an awesome cover of the Foo Fighters, Hero.
