Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

I was in like 7th grade and sending friends backdoors on aim as pranks (sub7). Not knowing anything about what I was doing, I told them they should of closed their sockets as my super villain catch phrase. So I've carried this name for 16 years or so lol.

I think if they are looking at something portable it's a couple years off at minimum. They've never shown much interest in the past, and I know somewhat recently I saw Spencer say something along the lines of mobile games having the space dominated. This seemed pretty dumb in context because it was obviously referring to worthwhile portable games like the 3DS has and they really don't fill the same space.

I don't know if a portable Xbone would make sense either, you either go full digital (suicide), put a disc-drive on it (stupid), or introduce a new game format to make cartridges possible, which really doesn't seem feasible since everyone already is disc based. Patches seem like they'd be a problem, they're a lot more prevalent on the Xbox then Switch, and seem to be updated as though space is not a factor in anyone judging from how big some of the first-party games have ballooned to.
Well digital yeah, PlayAnywhere titles are already digital as you buy the game through their store and you can play it anywhere on supported devices. True storage would be an issue though. Cloud storage yo. I agree it is fairly unlikely haha.

Also add me on the Just-getting-onto-the-Overwatch bandwagon.

My 1st Play of the Game, got so excited lol.

My handle is just some stupid inside joke I had with my best friend. We were at my cousin's birthday party years ago, she was probably 6 or 7 at the time. Some genius gave out whistles to all these little kids so it was just constant whistling all day. We said something along the lines of there being a six minute long whistle and just laughed like idiots. I decided to restart my account once I actually had permanent XBL because I'd had a bunch of issues since I didn't know how offline achievement syncing worked and wanted a fresh start,so started using it then.

I just did the Xbox survey. It felt a bit more broad than you guys were making me think. They asked more general questions like you interest in the possible SNES Mini and how influential E3 is on your purchases. All the Switch specifics seemed more like some basic research for the future and to get an idea as to why it has been doing so well so fast.

New batch of Forza Horizon 3 challenges are listed for the coming month. A number of mid-week batches, don't care for those.

https://www.trueachievements.com/game/Forza-Horizon-3/challenges
Only two look to be problematic:

Complete any Co-Op Event (because nobody ever play it, or if they do, they never start the race.)

Win a game of King (hard to randomly do legit, unless you're in a small group)

Some Challenges start at midnight Pacific tonight. I'll post a reminder later once they're active.

I'm still looking for late night owls (after midnight) to do challenges or co-op with, if anyone wants to add me.

Some OT: How did y'all come up with your online handle and/or GT names?
Jess Stryker is actually my second name (although it has had several variations). My first name was vgmmaster which came from winning a fantasy nba league as a kid. NBA.com called their game Virtual GM and since I won, I added the word master to the end.

Had that name for half a decade. Used to play a game called Cybernations (Independent Republic of Orange Nations) and would change my avatar every so often. However, I liked to create aliases for my avatars giving them their own name and backstory while doing a bit of roleplay as them. At one point I had a female boxer as my profile picture, thought "Stryker" as a last name was a clever play on words with her being a boxer, and "Jessica" was just a random first name that rolled off the tongue.

Had the variations of this name for about a decade now. Started as Jessica Stryker, went to JStryker416 when I joined XBL (JStryker was taken and I thought having a female name would have been odd at the time), and a few months ago went with the shortened Jess Stryker (the numbers were starting to bother me).

Covfefe was already taken
I don't know if you're joking, but there actually is an account with that name. Has 40k gamerscore too so somebody had to pay for a name change recently.

The awp part has nothing to do with my name and is too stupid to explain so I will just take it to my grave.

Always Wearing Pants?

Enjoyed the 1st episode of TellTale Guardians of the Galaxy.  A little strange at first since I am kind of attached to the cinematic versions of the characters but I like the direction so far.  Only a few hiccups in performance and overall a really good looking game. Excited for future episodes.

I used to use Bob10191 name and birth date, but that didn't last long as a website (maybe RuneScape) required one more character, so I added 0. I wanted Bob so I wouldn't be confused when people called my gamertag.

I also use RoyalBob5 on Twitch as Bob101910 was a name I used on JustinTV briefly. I guess they merged or something long after I stopped using JustinTV, so they wouldn't let me use Bob101910. RoyalBob5 goes back to Halo 2/all games clan Royal Five Pro.

Which is what the RFP in my gamertag stands for. We originally we're going to change our GTs to Royal"Name"5, but only a few members did so. RFP was more widely accepted amongst the clan. Still friends to this day

Give your president some credit. He's hip to what's going on in the videogame world. That account is where he got his inspiration

My GT (WalkingWiki35) is from a story from when I was younger.

I was at a friend's party, and I always strove for straight A's and such back then (and still do, really). Anyway, we were playing some basketball or something and I jokingly corrected a kid's grammar, IIRC, and another kid said, "Dude, you're like a walking Google or something"

Later on, when I was making my GT, I thought of that moment in particular. WalkingGoogle wasn't alliterative and just didn't sound very good, so I subbed in "Wiki" (as in Wikipedia) for Google. Some form of WalkingWiki has been my online alias since.

The 35 is there because I thought the GT would be taken by then (idk, I guess I thought I was too clever), and also some athletes I liked (like Frank Thomas) wore jersey number 35. I'd like to take off the 35 if I have an extra $10 in the future to blow on removing two numbers from my GT.

That's awesome. I'm surprised I never used the beginning of my first email address as my gamertag which was chris68pj after my name, Jaromir Jagr, and Pearl Jam.
I've had Live since the first year it was around on the original XBox. When they purged all those gamertags the Jagr name went free. Got really lucky.

GT: Trickybuz93

Being the lazy, uncreative bastard I was, I took the recommended GT, deleted the numbers, added "93" for my birthday and called it a day.

I used to (and still do kinda) use IRC and I wanted a new nick to use and I just thought of a random object and used it, but I didn't want to just be "spork" so I threw a zero in instead.

Also unfortunately for the pervs, the "lez" part was just because someone randomly thought my name was "spark" and then people started calling me "sparkles" so I rolled with it and made it my own thing.

https://twitter.com/CodeMystics/status/870437311661481984 Code Mystics (from the guys who brought us Phantom Dust to the X1/PC) are asking what their next game should be from the XBox catalog. They seemed to be getting good praise all things considered. Metal Wolf Chaos seems to be running away with the vote, which makes sense considering the game never came to the US but dialogue is near 100% English. Panzer Dragoon Orta in a far second place.

Understanding seems to be that Microsoft has a Bayonetta 2 situation on their hands with a lot of Original XBox Sega games, so might be able to put Otogi and Panzer Dragoon Orta without too much of a problem from I've read on GAF.

Seems like MS might go this route rather then full OG XBox BC which I've always had my doubts considering licensing fees from NVIDIA and the wizardry it would take to achieve. Not to mention licensing issues for games that are over a decade old.

Guess we'll find out at E3, maybe?

I've only gotten Lucio and 76 so far. Going to buy either Pharah or D.Va's if I haven't got them by the end. Too many good skins. I want Genji but I barely play him.

I doubt we're going to find anything out that soon unless another team is already working on something or they already had the plan of converting a few more games. I'm not sure what else would be prime for the treatment. Out of first-party I'd only say Crimson Skies or MechAssault. A lot of Xbox Prime's most popular games were third-party, like Splinter Cell, Psychonauts, or Bioware's games.

Sega's catalog seems like the best fit, but the rights are probably more on Sega's end than MS's. Panzer Dragoon Orta definitely is the stand out for feasible games based on it's reputation. From Software has acknowledged the western demand for Metal Wolf Chaos semi-recently so it could have shot, but it's sales would probably not be all that strong.

It has been interesting reading about how everyone came up with their XBox Live gamer tag.  My gamer tag and user name here is not very creative at all. When I joined a classic gaming forum many years ago (2005) I decided I wanted a user name that spot lighted my love of entex electronic hand held games of the 70's and 80's. So I called myself entexman and that has been my online identifier on forums and other online systems ever since then.

Here is a good link to entex games if you are not familiar with them:

I personally would love Panzer Dragon Orta. One of my all time favorites.

He said it's because he sucked at an old NASCAR game. He's been playing NASCAR games longer than I knew they existed!
1994. You could download paint jobs for the cars, as long as you knew where to look on AOL and Compuserve and Prodigy, but you had to be careful how many you downloaded or the $60 you spent monthly to have access to all 3 would go up considerably. :)

I also got into the first round of cable internet offered by Cox that had a cable download, but the upstream was over the phone line. So you actually had to "dial in" when you wanted to use the cable internet.

fuck, I'm old.

These boxes don't give anything other than cosmetic changes correct? Also only obtained through leveling?
I am having a lot of fun. Only tried Ana so far, but it seems to work as in always the only healer in the matches.
yeah the boxes are cosmetics.
You get a loot box for every level. You can also get them in Arcade Mode for winning x number of matches in a week.

Back in 8th grade (1994 or so), a Jewish friend came with me to a Christmas party at my church. He joked that he did not want people trying to convert him, so he told people his name was Joe Ziggadigga.

My family got AOL shortly after that, and my mom told me I had to use a made up name because going online would be dangerous. So, I have used some variation of JoeZiggadigga ever since.

Need for Speed Payback releases 11/10. Takes place in "Fortune City" (Vegas).

Full trailer at 9am EST.

Leaky link: http://a.co/5SRG9rg

Need for speed, One of the world's bestselling video game franchises, returns with a vengeance in the new action-driving blockbuster need for speed payback. Set in the Underworld of Fortune Valley, you and your Crew are reunited by a search for vengeance against the House, a nefarious cartel that rules the City's Casino, criminals, and cops. In this corrupt gambler's paradise, the stakes are high and the House always wins. Play a variety of challenges and events as tyler, the racer; Mac, the showman, and jess, the wheelman. Each driver must take on races, missions, and challenges to earn the respect of the valley's underground and compete in the Ultimate race to finally take down the House. From insane Heist missions to devastating car battles to jaw cropping set piece moments, need for speed payback delivers an edge-of-your-seat, action-driving fantasy.

Yeah I can't imagine me getting the King one legitimately. I love playing FH3 but I am not that good at it.

Hopefully others here will want to party up at a more 'reasonable' hour to try and knock that and the co op thing. I am too old to play in the middle of the week after midnight. Who am I kidding even on the weekends I hardly ever play much past 11pm.

My gamertag (Colonel Eternal) was something I came up with after playing Unreal Championship 2 on the original Xbox against Kevin Pereira on a segment for The Screen Savers. His tag was Captain Immy (for immortal) and we had super fun matches and as my first online gameplay experience, I wanted to preserve that, so I stopped using my gamertag (I think it was RevolerLancelot), created Colonel Eternal and never looked back.

It's fun, because as my brothers that were babies at the time have grown up, they've used the same naming conventions. They're Captain Eternity and General Infinity.

As cool as the game looks, I'm disappointed that their presence at E3 isn't likely to be KI-related after all. :whistle2:(

I guess it's to be expected they're going to be multiplat-focused now that they have a PS guy as prez.

You can tell these guys love doing what they were formed to do (bring older games to modern systems). I'm glad they're being supported.

My first thought was Jet Set Radio Future, but I can see why Metal Wolf Chaos and Orta would be at the front of the pack. Crimson Skies is also a great suggestion, though I think the controls would need to be modernized. I really, really hope that if they do Metal Wolf Chaos, that it remains 100% non-politicized.

I'm also hoping that even if none of their titles are chosen by Code Mystics, SEGA does something with their original Xbox titles since they seem to be focused on reviving/porting their older IPs now (see: Bayonetta and Vanquish PC ports after centuries of demand).

I used to (and still do kinda) use IRC
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I unfortunately didn't use it during its heyday so in using it I feel like I really missed out, but I do like that it seems to mostly be uncorrupted by the modern internet.

I know it's off topic, but I'm really enjoying the GT origin posts.
Me too. Probably some of our best OT in a while.

N++ Ultimate Edition is coming to Xbox One later this summer. It has over 4,000 levels in it, so you should be good for a while whenever you get it.

The world’s best platformer continues to get better. Now Xbox One players will get to experience the thrill of narrowly escaping enemies, collecting gold, and just generally being the best parkour-loving ninja around. Metanet Software is excited to announce that N++ (N Plus Plus) Ultimate Edition will arrive on Xbox One consoles this summer.

After another year of hard work, N++ Ultimate Edition doubles the size of N++ and includes 60 dynamic new colour schemes, new levels, new ninja headbands, new secrets and more. With an unprecedented 4340 hand-crafted levels, players can play through the lengthy and challenging solo campaign, or play with friends in Couch Co-op and the local competitive Race mode. New to the game is a brand new mode named Hardcore: a mode all about skill, which changes the rules of the game and shows Solo mode in a whole new light.

I'd definitely buy and play KOTOR if it were ever available for X1

They did port it to phones after all, wouldn't surprise me if they eventually did a modern port. The only reason they might not would be because it's no longer canon.

I doubt that MS has any part of that decision though. It's all EA/Bioware & Disney.

I used to (and still do kinda) use IRC
IRC was a big influence on my profile names as well. I was doing network troubleshooting for my school district in high school, which I abused to start my collection of pirated music and movies. So I fancied myself a rebel, an inside man using the system to defund the system. I was also reading a lot of Schopenhauer at the time, so I had a few screen name variants of Truth's Edge. Cause I was living on the edge and like, the truth can be hard to face. Ya, suburban white boy who didn't smoke, drink, vandalise property, joyride, or even commit misdemeanors was a rebel cause he downloaded punk music on school time.

Anyways. I was lurking in some IRCs full of hackers (and more posers like me probably) and one of them was defending his choice to use Condor##xxwhateveritwas, stating that he'd rather his criminal activity point to someone else and not have a screen name that stands out. I wasn't doing real shit, but I decided that day that I would use known fictional names for screen names. I also (mostly) grew out of wanting to constantly confront people and make them uncomfortable, and would rather bring a little joy into people's lives. I love Futurama, and one of my friends already had Wernstrum and I loved the way it sounded when a random guy would turn on his mic just to lament "Wernnsstruuum!" after a match. Brannigan almost sounds as good, and I like the play on captain and capped.

I need to change it though, as I can't use it universally due to profanity filters and the show is getting older. Maybe I'll jack something from Always Sunny or Rick & Morty.

KotOR. Never gonna happen, of course.[attachment=26722:b3bf057b69945a36a011d938e8853bf179cbc9718d36b486da77d5e54c86afb3.jpg]

Another big post below, an outline of E3

I just took the time to figure out my personal schedule for E3, I couldn't take the weekend off but it actually worked out alright. I'll have to miss EA's live on Saturday, but I get out just in time to catch Xbox Sunday along with Bethesda's ridiculously late midnight EST show. Monday is full with PC, Ubisoft, and Playstation and I have the day off. The only bummer for me is missing Nintendo's live because of class.

Devolver Digital is also doing one but still haven't said when. I'd guess Saturday evening unless they were able to adjust to Bethesda's time change, or maybe Sunday morning.

-Xbox is the one most of you will probably be the most interested in. Expect Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, Forza 7, Shadow of War. An unknown smaller Halo announcement. Scorpio specifics and price.
-EA's usually sucks and is half sports, but some Star Wars is a lock and we'll probably finally see Bioware's new IP since it's supposed to be out before the next E3. Battlefield 1 DLC.
-Bethesda is probably the biggest unknown. Two "unannounced" games likely, Wolfenstein: New Colossus seems likely with the other being a rumored Evil Within 2, a recent potential hint of Doom content (Expansion or full blown Doom 2/5?), Battlecry? (who knows if that's still happening). Hard to say from Bethesda proper, maybe just Fallout 4 VR.

-PC is a wildcard too, but usually nothing mind blowing here. Generally a bunch of hardware talk and indie games.
-Ubisoft we know the big guns, Assassin's Creed Origins and Far Cry 5. Probably the Rabbids/Mario crossover as that's a way bigger deal for them then Nintendo. Nothing else has been floating around because these three high profile games have all had leaks.

-Playstation will likely have a ton of exclusives to show like the last 2 years, likely more from announced games like God of War and Days Gone. Destiny 2 and CoD: WW2 will both be here. Probably a new Death Stranding trailer. Rumored exclusive From Software game.
-Nintendo is likely to show a decent amount of new stuff since most of their announced games are pretty close now, like Arms and Splatoon. Maybe Smash 4 Switch will finally be announced. Pokemon Stars?

Wildcard games that have a good chance of showing up but hard to say where:
-MvC Infinite (Sony?)
-Resident Evil 2 Remake (Xbox to balance out Capcom announcements?)
-Metal Gear Survive, not a peep has been said about this game since TGS last year, 2017 is the only date we have for it. Hoping it's dead but if not it probably would be at Sony.
-Borderlands 3 and/or Bioshock game
-System Shock Remake and/or System Shock 3

-Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Already de-confirmed: Beyond Good and Evil 2, Halo 6, Shenmue 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, Aisha Tyler hosting Ubisoft

This schedule is the one I found with the most time-zones easily represented.

E3-2017-schedule.jpg

All I want and need from Ubisoft is a new Splinter Cell.

Also and hopefully will get ME Andromeda single-player DLC but with the recent reports that Bioware Montreal getting downsized who knows.

Sony is probably focusing on TLOU2, God of War and Days Gone. And of course, another trailer for Death Stranding even though that one's not coming out until 2019 or 2020. They also might have an update on a game I have zero interest but I know some people here do, Shenmue III. Though I think is going to be another MN9 / ReCore debacle. But since it's a PS4 console-exclusive, it'll get a pass and be called a "11 out of 10 master piece" right out of the gate.

The small Halo announcement could be anything. 343i will not be giving Halo 3 the anniversary treatment nor do I think they're remastering Reach. So maybe a short cinematic trailer for Halo 6 (like the one they showed back at E3 2013 for Halo 5). Crackdown 3 is what I'm really looking forward along with Scorpio's price.

Last but not least, if Bethesda announces Evil Within 2, then I need to complete the first one. I got stuck in a room filled with water, blood and guts and left it there. I should also get around The New Blood since I bought it for $6 last time it went on sale.

Confirming Tekken 7 kicks ass. David Hibiki pls concur (you're the only dude on my friends list who also has it.)
It's a lot of fun. It's the most polished Tekken game yet in terms of game play. Akuma is great! They did a really good job bringing him into Tekken.

Unfortunately the single player is pretty bare bones and the narrator makes me want to hang myself (also his audio skips sometimes) and I heard the main story is only 2 hours anyways. I haven't played any of the character stories yet. I don't know if there's Ghost attack which seems to be missing from Tekken 6 but outside of that most of the standard features are there. Compared to from what I read/seen Injustice 2 is the better single player experience while Tekken is overall the better fighting game.

The net code for casual/quick matches was EXCELLENT. I didn't notice any lag.

The only thing that doesn't work right now is ranked matches. They tried to go to some search list but every time I tried to find one it didn't work.

The loading times can also be a bit of a drag. I counted around 20 seconds between matches. Might not seem like a lot but it adds up for a fighting game.

I was really balking at the idea of spending $60 on a new game since the only other three full priced games I got were Tekken 7, RE7 and Persona 7... I mean Persona 5. But I wanted to support Namco because I'd love to see more fighting games on X1, especially the big ones like Tekken.

I'd say wait for a sale unless your a huge fan of Tekken or need the latest fighting game right now. Game play wise I like it better then Injustice 1 (haven't really got to play 2, assuming more of the same) but Injustice 2 apparently is better for single player content.

Also I'm sick as hell so I'm going back to bed soon. Worst day to get sick ever... all I want to do is play Tekken right now :(
