Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

Last week I wrote a guide on how to download and play Japanese MMO Onigiri on Xbox One.

This week I'm proud to break the news that Onigiri is coming to Xbox One in the US and Europe in 2015! Check out this story for more detail, including whether or not characters will transfer between regions, platforms, etc.

just played forza horizen 2 for first time and not sure how game is not selling well it's really really good.
I think people are just tired of racing games or it wasn't advertised well. It really boggles my mind to.

Though I think EA needs to bite the bullet and make a new Burnout.

Too many games out at once and Forza 5, which isn't as good, just released a year ago alongside the console.

If Horizon 2 would have came out in the Spring or Summer, I think the sales would have been a lot better. It was released right around the same time Shadows of Mordor, NBA 2K15, Destiny, and other big releases. Like you said, racing is just not as popular a genre as it once was either. I do feel like Forza Horizon 2 will do well overall though, the game definitely will have some legs a lot of new Xbone owners will be gravitating towards some of the consoles best games and Horizon 2 is certainly one of the consoles best.

Walk the least traveled path.

I was playing Forza Horizon 2 exclusively on my Xbox until I started playing Dragon Age Inquisition exclusively haha.

Just got an Xbox Live message from the preview program. I'll be getting 2 codes tomorrow for an early access version of the Halo 5 beta! 2 codes for 1 user, that is. 1 token to download the beta and 1 to actually access it. Runs through the weekend and features Week 1 content.

Big question for me is the beta actually work. After MCC I'm not so sure.

The fact that they're essentially holding a beta (For Preview Members) before they hold another beta (For MCC Buyers) doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. It makes me think they aren't confident in the servers so they are holding back the floodgates.

Since it is a MS 1st party shouldn't it be on the 300,000 trillon million serevers they invested in?
Minecraft doesn't have any story or any characters to work with. I have no idea how they can make a story game out of it.
I was walking through Target and saw Minecraft novels. NOVELS! I'm sure telltale will have no problem figuring something out.

Master Chief Collection Compensation was announced. This is copy/pasted from the Halo thread where I posted it. Thanks to Flacksguy for alerting me to the news.

If you've played between 11/11/14 to 12/19/14 you get all of this free.

1 Month Xbox Live Gold.

Exclusive In-game Avatar.

Exclusive In-game Nameplate.

Halo 3: ODST Campaign for free when it launches (Development has started on it now) It'll be remastered in 1080p 60FPS.

Additionally the "Relic" map will be coming to the Halo 2 Anniversary Collection as free content update.

Given the wording it sounds like the Halo 3: ODST Campaign will cost money if you haven't played the game before the date posted above.

Sony and Ubisoft should follow with similar packages for their broken games. I personally never took the shrink wrap off Halo MCC and resold it as well as the Map Book and probably doubled my money so no hurt feelings here and will rebuy down the line when it's cheap and completely fixed.

Kind of debatable to say Ubisoft gave away "free" stuff didn't they cancel the Season Pass content and just give games away instead? Realistically speaking the games weren't free since the Season pass costed $30 and while they did offer some newer titles as options Far Cry 4 and The Crew were worth $50 each so realistically people saved $20 on a game they might have otherwise not purchased.

Sony did give away 2 DLC Packs with DriveClub, but IIRC a lot of people said (and continue to say) Little Big Planet 3 is a pretty broken game and they haven't announced any compensation for it yet. Personally I haven't had a lot of issues with the game, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Ubi gave the first dlc pack for AC Unity "Dead Kings" for free.

sony is getting hacked like crazy, they are too busy doing damage control in hollywood to worry about their gaming division

That doesn't change the fact that they cancelled the rest of the content.

Well the PlayStation division is pretty much ran as a different company so that would have nothing to do with anything...

Or maybe they realize after the debacle with the HD Collection and response to the Halo 5 leaks that it might be a good opportunity to help turn the tide of opinions on what 343 is doing for the franchise in their favor by getting more people into the beta than maybe would otherwise after the response their work has gotten so far.

For your theory to be correct we would have to know if there are far more people in the preview program than people who purchased MCC. Then we would have to know of those people in the preview program, how many are Halo fans that would be interested in the beta, for instance I'm in the preview program and have no interest in the beta. I'm going to guess the number is far fewer than people who specifically bought into the franchise and let's not forget that the Halo 5 beta was an advertised feature of buying MCC.

When did they say they canceled the DLC? They canceled the season pass. Kind of pointless to sell a season pass when you're giving a big chunk of the content away. I haven't read anything about the test of the DLC being canned.

I thought the only content they have left Season Pass wise is the Kings DLC which is being given away free and that Chronicles China game. I mean, if they weren't intending to cancel the rest of the DLC they wouldn't have stopped sales of it.

My assumption was they scrapped plans for the rest of the Season Pass content and were giving away the first content (Dead Kings) for free.

Nope. They are giving away the first dlc for free and the rest is still coming out and if you had the season pass you still get the rest of the dlc and the free game. The free game was to make up for giving away the first dlc for free

A source on that would be nice. Because if you Google around you get a ton of hits with everyone saying the rest of the content was cancelled. As I said before if it wasn't cancelled they would still be selling the Season Pass to collect more money, but that isn't the case.

Ubisoft's website indicates Season Pass holders will have access to a "variety of content", but that's a really blank statement since it could have nothing to do with the Season Pass content.

What? I'm not suggesting that there would be more non-Halo faithful getting in than those that bought the collection, but that they don't have to be opening up the beta early for preview people only because they have no faith in the servers. It's a good way of getting it out there to a varied group of people, and many sites, to get a more positive opinion than Halo fans might have to offer after the response to the info leaks about Halo 5.

My Titanfall controller is having a left stick drift (up) problem.  Anybody else deal with this?  I updated the controller and tried a few software fixes I found on the 'net, but nothing worked.  Now I'm looking into the warranty, but I'm not so hopeful.

I knew I shoulda picked up another controller on black friday from Best Buy.  :wall:

Common issues with controllers I always thought.

Day 1 controller I have has the same issue, but it's manageable.

Sounds like it's pretty common, but for $60+ a pop...I want my shtuff to work.  I'm pretty easy with my controllers, so I rarely run into trouble.

Chatting online with Msoft support.....they're going to replace it.  :D/

After all the complaints of it not selling well since it's on XB1(blah, blah, blah), this is surprising.  Good thing I waited.

MS has to pay the developer some money to do so right?

I don't think it's been disclosed how it works out, but both Sony and Microsoft do pay the developers for the games offered.
