Xbox One - General Discussion Thread

This GameSpot video is hilarious. I cant believe some of these guys have jobs in the industry.
Don't own a XBone, have not seen the PS4 video. but why is the last person to speak in the video the only hot chick and one that owns an XBone.

Are all hot gamers chicks getting XBones only here?

The downloading and installing on xbox is a wide problem and is a good point. Has nothing to do with shit internet. I can download a few gigs in a few minutes on my pc buy it took me 4+ hours to download and install sunset overdrive and even longer for halo.

I assume because it tries to download and install at the same time but its still crazy. I know a lot of people in this very thread said the same things.
You never get full speed when downloading on game systems. Steam is same way for me.

I always get full speed on my wired xbox one connection. I have 16mbps, so I always get 1.7 down. I've seen a few people complain about the wi-fi speeds but I only use wired so I wouldn't know.

There's also a built in speed test in the xbox one's network settings if you wanna know how your connection is.

For me it has been worse now then in the past. Sometimes it will be pretty quick, sometimes the download will just stop, and sometimes it is just slow. I preordered GTA V while I was out of town for work. Come home and it still hadn't finished. Xbox was still in standby so it isn't like the power killed it. Heaven forbid you download more than one thing at a time. Rather than finish one and move to the next in the queue it will just sit and bounce between them. I love my Xbox One, but there are a few nitpicky things that worked perfectly on 360 that they just took a step backward on.

My 360 defied physics and would download games faster than my speed should have allowed at the time... Or they just had really good compression. ;)

Download and install times is a huge issue on the Xbox One and I'm surprised to see people in here making excuses for it. Hell I know plenty of people have complained about issues that have forced them to redownload preloaded games in the past (COD, Halo and SSO).

I mean my games preloads tend to take several days to fully download and install which is an issue with the system since my internet is 80/10 and I have no issues on my PS4 or PC.

I don't download big games so I'm not comparing anything just stating speeds. The speeds that show up in speed check is now speeds you get when downloading that comes down to speed of xbox server speed

Yeah just like all hot gamer chicks play PC, PS4, Wii U and 3DS/Vita. Just like non attractive gamer chicks play on everything out there too lol so yeah wtf dude.

I know Azure servers help out on the performance of games but I don't think they're set up to prioritize downloading/installing games. Like I said we're still in the early phase on that topic and yeah def an area of improvement.

guess I've just been lucky then

I dislike when people talk about download times on any console, there are far too many variables that can determine these speeds that aren't related to said console.  That said Phil Spencer himself even acknowledged the install times from disk are terrible and they will be looking into improving them in the future so there is that.

My educated guess is that preloads take longer because of QoS rules the XBL team has in place. The goal is to make sure the game is loaded in time for launch, whereas customers who've bought a game already released want to play it sooner.

The biggest hangup is that the game installs while it is being downloaded. From an engineering perspective this is extremely difficult to accomplish because the data either has to arrive in order (would cause longer download times) or it has to be reordered by the console (this is pretty unlikely).

Install times from disk are atrocious. I wonder how much can be fixed via software, anything they do there would likely improve network installs as well, though some of it has to be because of the slow blu-ray drive.

Something weird happened. I was playing showcase mode in WWE 2k15 yesterday and i boot it up today and all of my save data is gone and its acting like i just started a new game. Any idea on what to do?

I don't think it is too unfair for me to compare consoles I have sitting right next to each other. I'm not trying to make it into an enormous issue either. Just acknowledging that it is a flaw that would be nice to get addressed.

That happens with me on Madden 15, it's probably happened about 4 times now. It's incredibly annoying.

Forza Horizons 2 was my go to game on this system but recently it's been 100% Dragon Age: Inquisition. My god does that game look pretty and run amazing.

Well, finally beat sunset overdrive. Was pretty enjoyable over all and got much easier to move around later on. Will say that the size of the city and they way it was laid out was very impressive. The story was alright, the jokes were ok but got boring after awhile lol. Combat is pretty fun but the mission structure was pretty blend. Ill go back and do a lot of the side quest and other things now. Really do hope they make another one and expand on the idea that they have in place here.

Over all, I give it an 8. Very good game though.

Guess once I got DR3 GOTY on monday ill do that next. Need to find a cheap copy of Ryse.

Worms Battlegrounds is the December Game with Gold for Xbox One. Nice because the normal price of $25 is too high for many people. It has a good campaign but multiplayer is the main focus, and we'll have lots of people to play with thanks to the giveaway.

Did it say your DLC was missing? I had a similar issue on PS4, I backed my save up to the cloud and re-installed the game. I lost everything except career and CAW data. This happened after I used the accelerator with my season pass. The 2K Community forums are full of people with similar problems though. Hopefully they patch the game soon because the issues are really annoying, the game isn't getting great reviews but when it works I have been enjoying it.

[quote name="kcobra22" post="12271488" timestamp="1417025583"]AC: Unity patch 3 goes live today. Also apparently they're giving away the Dead Kings dlc for free, and season pass owners can choose from a list of games (including far cry 4) to receive for free.

Figures they would give a game away the first time I don't get a season pass for Assassin's Creed. At least I get dlc.

i now intall game fully while offline and go online to get game update seem's install goes faster
Well, don't you have to be online for the system to even check for updates? I've heard games install faster offline but unless I read this wrong of course you would have to go online to get updates.

Digital Foundry did a test on the new AC Unity patch and heres the what it is:

The results? While we fully believe that Assassin's Creed Unity sees certain boosts to performance in specific scenarios, what's clear is that overall frame-rates only see a small improvement overall across the run of play. In our clips this amounts to a 1.95 per cent boost in single-player (25.07fps average vs the pre-patch 24.59fps) and only 1.6 per cent in co-op (24.29fps vs 23.90fps).

Ubisoft wins trolls of the year lol

It all depends on what you're doing in game. For example, seems like whenever I go to pick a lock there is a drop in frame rate. That being said the frame rate is a noticeable improvement and also the issue of sound dropping out is improved. That quote makes it sound like there is a miniscule improvement, which isn't true.

Bought The Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 and Titanfall last night. I didn't like Walking Dead that much the first time I played on 360, but Tales has me more interested in Telltale's stuff right now.

The article is only about the PS4 version, so it's a little unfair to hold it against the Xbox One game. I still need to buy Unity sometime.

I added NBA 2k15 to my collection today, supposed lightning deal for GTA5 coming up. If it is $40 or lower I'll grab that as well. Besides those 2 I picked up a couple 3DS games and a soundbar.

Anybody else bolster their X1 collections today?

Yea I grabbed these from Best Buy

Dead Rising 3 GOTY

Disney Fantasia

*NBA 2K15

*Madden 15

*Diablo 3 UEE

Xbox One COD controller

XBL marketplace

TWD Season 1 and 2 Bundle

Killer Instinct Ultra Edition

*Those are rebuys, I traded them in last week for $104 at BB and rebought them for $77.94. Gave me an extra $26.06 to spend.

That's all I bought on the XB1 side, everything else was for PS4. Didn't grab any 360, PS3, or Nintendo stuff this year.

Didn't you say you also weren't a fan of The Walking Dead TV show, and that it was for the same reason you didn't like the game: "too bleak"?
Yeah, shiz is too bleak for sure. I just thought Tales was so fun (and I still loved it when I played it for myself tonight) that I'm hoping Walking Dead will capture some of that fun, damn zombies or not.

This season is very good. The comics are good too. But I'm digging this season a lot.

And the game is great for a masochist like myself. Right in the feels.

Yeah BB had me workin' gaming, bunch of games on sale, while I'm on there for auto tech though lol and so many questions from non-knowledable parents/gfs, haha but I hooked 'em up. The Xbox bundle for $329 was flying off the shelves. The PS4 GTAV Bundle, $399, was selling decently too. This the season to shop for deals and all that. I grabbed an extra Xbox One controller because they were 39.99 and mine warms up when it's plugged in/Xbox guide light went out (so I'm like how long is this thing gonna last).

I actually had a couple of people ask me what's the difference between the Xbox One and PS4. I tried to stay as impartial as I could and narrowed it down to 1) where your buddies like to play 2) price and 3) if you prefer one's exclusives over the other.

Damn that Wii U bundle, I wanted it so bad but I gotta pay gas and bills lol.

I just brought it up since I was wondering why you bought it. I loved the first season so much that I played through it twice on Xbox 360 to experience multiple storyline outcomes. Then I played through it once more on PS3.

The Wolf Among Us has been excellent (midway through episode 4) while The Walking Dead Season 2 has been so-so to me, although I've only played the first 2 episodes so far.

To conclude my rambling, I have played through a couple episodes of Sam and Max on PS3, 1 episode of Back To The Future, and even bought Jurassic Park super cheap. So I own and enjoy many of the Telltale Games console releases of recent years.

Thought this was interesting, and I'm sure I'm the only one, but I went into a Walmart today that was a little out of my way and they had two "Day One" Xbox One Consoles on sale for $449 (might have rung up at $429---not sure).

I almost bought it for the novelty but $400+ is a lot for something that is going to take up space in a collection

Added 2k15, Shadow of Mordor, and Lego Marvel to my collection for like $60, can't beat that. Also picked up Titanfall digitally. Far from the greatest black friday ever but I'm happy with my haul. I just need to beat Call of Duty on vet so I can trade that in and move onto SoM.

Ah, I didn't have a chance to read the article on thought the quote was referencing the X1 version. Sucks if PS4 owners are having more issues with the game.

OK maybe im just not getting it but is there a way to look at the store on Xbox One to bring up what games are on sale or what the free game is cause as of now i have no idea how to get around this store.

main dashboard, third picture in the "featured" area on the right. It's usually the "gold" area that shows the weekly sales and free games with gold.

Is Titanfall still alive and well? I only put about 10 hours into it at launch but the season pass sale has me thinking about giving it another shot...
