I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Well, I placed an order on the two anyway. I figured it was worth a shot. Granted, there's a chance that it's a website glitch for me and I wind up waiting 2 months for backorders, but...

I got Y's and Growlancer as well, didn't say backordered and as of now Growlancer at least is still in stock. Trippy. I looked it up not 15 minutes ago and it was sold out, did a search of all titles to see if anything worthwhile was left, there it was. When I finalized the order it even gave a ship date, no backorder crap.

Sweet though. I thought my need for sleep before class screwed me on that deal. I got like, no money for new games so getting two meaty RPGs like Y's and Growlancer are lifesavers for me.

hate to break it to you BUT you do get shipping dates on the confirm page and they still go backorder. I had 8 games with ship dates last year all go backorder and cancelled after being told they would ship within 5 days

Awesome. I don't have a PS2 at the moment, but I don't mind picking up a couple games for it for the time I do eventually re-invest in one. Growlancer for $10 was really the only PS2 game on the list that interested me. Y's I can get on PSP. Glad Growlancer came back in stock so I could snag one up!

I ordered Growlanser. I have a used copy, new would be better, I could always get rid of the used copy (a little anal about scratches here).

Too bad Ys wasn't in, I've been waiting for a pricedrop on that.

i dont see why im hooked on keeping games sealed ... i already got an open copy of Growlanser but some reason i want a sealed copy for my collection... (ps it is not that great of a game)

i ordered growlanser as well...i already have the deluxe edition, i just wanted to be a greedy fuck and have both...

Metal Gear Solid: TS (GC)
LOTR: The Third Age (GBA)
Silent Hill 4: The Room (XB)
Spyro: A Heroes Tale (XB)
Tron 2.0: Killer App (XB)

Shipping at 2.00 a game almost kills this, but it's better than not getting anything at all I suppose. It seems like a lot of XBOX games are still out there too. All in all, I'm happy!

Silent Hill 4 for Xbox at $4.99 is showing instock now.

Most of the other games I was interested in came up at $9.99 . . . $12 fuck . . . I could have got them for $15 instore months ago.
 
What tops it is that I placed an order late (1am EST) last night. Order confirm # was still on screen this morning (try to call and adjust prices later . . .)

So, I check my email this morning . . . no confirmation. I closed the page . . . so I don't have the order number. Checked the website, no info on the order. WTF!

Best Buy does suck.

i made it seem not so bad to myself by saying the $00.99 games were actually $2.98 w/ free shipping, the $4.99 games were actually $6.98 w/ free shipping and the $9.99 games were actually $12.98 w/ free shipping :lol: it just sounds better justified that way

My slight interest in Crash Twinsanity and Spyro at $7 is totally dead at $12 each.

Likewise Astro Boy for $12 is less attractive.

i don't get the store availability feature...it displays around 6 stores that will have or won't have the game i'm looking for...well sometimes the stores are in gray font, sometimes in black and other times it says UNAVAILABLE...well what's the difference btwn the font colors? anything?

I checked SH4 about 6 am CST and it was out. I checked it about 30 minutes later and it was instock . . . pretty odd.

I may have ordered 2, if the order I placed late last night actually exists . . . crazy.

My order confirmation was at 7:13 for Silent Hill 4. Keep checking, they seem to update in/out every so often. I'm hoping they do it for Final Fantasy I & II (GBA).

I think:
Grey font = the store does not have it.
Black font = in store, but you cannot order it for in store pickup.
Unavailable = OOS, and you cannot order it for in store pickup.
Available = Not available online, but available for instore pickup.

fuck... I placed my order and was all excited.. until I realized that the default shipping address belonged to a mail box I had at college 2 years ago.

I called literally 5 minutes after the order was placed and tried to alter it with the customer service rep... but she wasn't able to do it. She offered to cancel the order and replace it but as soon as she went to do it the status was changed to "in process" or something so she couldn't alter it. She claimed that if I called back later she might be able to but I think that's BS. So it looks like someone at my old college might be getting 3 free games on me... grrr
