I figured that by the time I got home from work this would have already been posted with the list, but it looks like I should have brought the list home with me. Best Buy is putting a ton of slower-moving games on clearance starting Monday Sept. 12th. Prices ranged from .99-9.99, with most being 4.99, and included games for all systems.

FAQ:

When does the sale being?
The sale begins on MONDAY SEPT 12th when bestbuy opens

Is the sale also online?
no one knows for sure, often bb keeps prices the same, but like i said, this isnt a guarantee. some people are ordering online now and hoping to pricematch later, again, this isnt a guarantee.

Why are people saying they are getting games now, when the sale dosent start until monday?
some people are buying games ahead of time for full price and going back later to get a price adjustment on the games.

BB.com says the games are out of stock in stores around me, is that reliable?
no, its not reliable, it might be right, or it might not, this is from first hand experiance i had today (going to BB then checking avaliability of games i knew where on the shelves when i got home..)

Should i call and ask about the sale?
no, very rarely is calling and asking about a big unadvertised sale a good idea. it can tip off employees that the sale is even going on, also some empolyees might know about it and might have been told to deny it, and some might have no clue at all.

Will the $5 off coupon work on these games? (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58353)
that will be YMMV, the coupon says in black and white, excludes clearance items, so if you get shot down dont cry about it.

Every single game I check on the BB website says that it's not in stock at my local BB, even though I know it was there JUST THIS PAST FRIDAY. Do they pull stuff from the B&M stores to fill online orders? This is driving me nuts...I know there aren't many other CAGs in my area, so I figured it'd be safe to wait 'till today to go and pick up the games I wanted, but now I'm wondering whether the online people have managed to loot my store somehow. They're not just OOS on the three or four games I really wanted, either...EVERY game that they had this past Friday is now showing OOS. I know not every copy of Future Tactics for PS2 has sold in the store since then...
 
So now that all the good stuff is sold out online, anyone feeling generous and want to hook me up with Y's, Growlanser, any Final Fantasy, or silent hill 4 on the Xbox?

simple most of these games are discountined so they sent them back to the wherehouses.

well you know CAG isn't the only Video game message board on the net and you know MAYBE OTHER PEOPLE OTHER THAN CAG BOUGHT THEM. you know.. since I know for a fact that BB customer base isn't 100% cags. that and the instore thing on the BB website isn't reliable and probably hasn't been updated in forever.

if i get both copies of Ys and growlanser i might be able to..... both were sold out for hours and came back in for a few mins (i think it was a error and all will be tossed to backorder)

i might and that is a BIG MIGHT have one ... i ordered one at a store (hopefully its me i didnt check yesterday and i ordered one last night)

Why are some people saying this game cost such and such when the first post of this page clearly states the prices of the games?

Is the list and price of the games on the first page accurate?

what sucks is the webpage wouldnt allow many people to add stuff to cart as soon as the games came online i was here at 2am est i think when the update hit and i wasnt able to add anything to my cart. I gave up and went back to bed to 6am est and was able to grab some left overs


im tempted to buy saturday night speedway... GREAT GAME BETTER THEN NASCAR 2006
 
That's unfortunate... guess both games I bought yesterday are getting returned. Two Towers isn't worth $10 when I can get it cheaper everywhere else, and TMNT2 is no longer worth spending $10 for all by itself. With other games, I wouldn't have noticed one or two sucky ones.

Probably still going to go to my local BB and possibly another one after calling to verify the two (out of 20) games that I want that it says are in stock.

The list on the first page is a bit off on certain titles. Some games people thought would be $5 are actually $10.

some prices were way off

that namco vol 1 for ps2 says 4.99 but it lists it at 19.99

poker for gba said 4.99 but its 9.99
Zoo keeper said 4.99 but its 9.99
 
is zoo keeper worth keeping for 9

got it yesterday for 19.99 if they price match its 10 bucks offer so that 1 buck so it knocked it down to 9

i hope they do that with Y"S it would knock it down to around 7

cool, I was able to get Mech Assault 2 and Mortal Kombat Deception: Kollector's Edition for $10 each. My Silent Hill 4 for Xbox went back order so I'm expecting that one to be cancelled in the future.
Unfortunately, none of my stores have any of these games for instore pickup. But I figure the $1.99 shipping isn't that bad considering gas is like $3.20-$3.50 for regular in my area now.


BTW, Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes just Sold Out.... even though I don't even own an Gamecube :)

Yeah, CC would be more likely even though its a clearance price. But BB only gives you 10% off a competitor's lower price, not their own.

how long does it take for an item to go backorder.....i ordered a few things 2 hours ago and still not backorder yet
 
I am going to hit mine up at lunch today. I have looked for Silent Hill 4 in the past and never found it. A Silent Hill 4 for $5 would be awesome but I doubt I will find one. If I don't find one today I would pay someone $12 shipped for the PS2 version.

dunno...but a couple of my orders just went on backorder...i checked my card statement online and they didn't hesitate one second to withdraw the money out of my account as soon as i submitted the order...i'm getting ready to call them up and cancel the backorder orders just to get that money back into my account...since im sure i wont be getting those backorders in, i dont see why i should wait without the money

I ordered my Silent Hill 4 at 7:20 AM today and it went backorder immediately after the processing status went away. So I figured they over sold their remaining stock and the only way I'll get one is if people cancel their order. Though, I have gotten backorder items occassionally in the pasts.

Not surprisingly, I used this store finder for some major cities in Ohio for most of the games I ordered and supposedly not one of them was in stock at a store. :roll: If they were, it's usually in 1-2 stores outside the state line in KY or PA. I don't like the $9.99 price versus $4.99 and the $2 each ground shipping, but apparently you can't get them anywhere else - provided that the store locators are working properly. I think I'm set, but I will check several BB stores around here for kicks.

I don't think I checked all of them, but Bard's Tale, MechAssault 2, Incredibles, Midway Arcade Treasures 1 & 2, and Spyro were all $9.99 instead of $4.99. Silent Hill was still $4.99 as well as Chessmaster, Simpsons Road Rage, Hunter: the Reckoning, and possibly a few others that I haven't checked. Star Wars: Starfighter was $.99, which was a great deal.

Just curious...did your order for 20+ Growlansers and Y's go through? And were you serious?
 
man my dvd wont play on the campus pc so i cant do my work... now i got to wait 2 hours to leave for best buy to open nothing to do but Post post post : )

One of my orders is half and half, with MGS: TW and SH4 on back order. Spyro and Tron is Status: 1 item(s) - Order in process of being fulfilled; Usually ships in 0 - 1 days
