There's no way to be sure if it will be his thing until he goes to a show and sees for himself. In addition, The Briscoes and Kevin Steen and El Generico have been putting on amazing matches all year long and this ladder match is looking to be truly amazing. If the guy does go, I would suggest that's the only match he should be looking forward to. It's been a mix of Puro/American Brawling style. I would expect at least one spot that would make me grab my head and say, "I can't believe I just saw that." More likely, there will be several that will make me react like that.

I agree though about the "elist" comment. Other than the main event, I wasn't a complete fan of this last NYC show. When I mentioned this at the ROH board, I was shit on from all angles. Whatever though. It comes with the territory. They're getting new fans though who can't be classified as hardcore fans. Since they went on PPV, they're starting to get kids into seats during the shows and getting casual fans. I expect this trend to continue.

Fifth Year Festival - New York City

It's a solid show from last February from which a number of people are still on the roster. It has Takeshi Morishima's first ROH match, the current ROH world champion. It's a good introductory show.

Another couple I would suggest is Fifth Year Festival - Finale and Respect is Earned.

Both have good cards and will suffice for introducing you to the roster.
Alright, thanks for the pointers, I MIGHT go to the show you pmed me about. I've kinda grown fond of Delirious, because he's so damned crazy
How is the packaging on that Rumble set? I've heard it's pretty weak.
Only "weak" in the sense that I could see the "hinge" on the box not standing up to punishment very well. Time will tell how the box handles wear and tear.

However, the packaging itself is beautiful... check the pics

Here's what you see when you open up the main hinge:

Open a flap and you get these commemorative card thingies:

Inside the main compartment, you get the four 5-volume sets... here's one of them opened up:

Closeup of the side open flap, complete with Rumble Trivia:

To give you an idea of how the DVD holders are put together:
Also, have you watched any of the Attitude Era rumbles? Scorch was commenting on how rough the blurring was in those. Just curious, as I'm still thinking about picking this up regardless.
Yeah, the standard blurring is there. :whistle2:( And any "official Royal Rumble themes" provided by bands (which you'd normally hear playing in between matches, when they show the graphic for an upcoming bout) seem to have been replaced by generic themes. Also some of the wrestler themes have been screwed with.

Foxsports Radio mentioned Batista as one of the names in connection with the steroid probe. I'll stilll can't believe HHH's name hasn't popped up yet.

Just based off of the names that were named, the WWE is going to be hurting bad. Dependent who are the 10 that got suspended plus all the guys still out due to injury, its going to be bad news bears for vince.

Hearing Randy Orton's name come out yet again really disappoints me because he's one of the main reason i watch raw (along side London, Regal, Mickie), especially with his awesome new gimmick and storyline.

I hope all this changes things for the better with professional wrestling.

I think when you have guys like Funaki showing up on the list you are fucked.

Then again, Funaki may be HHH's steroid errand boy, because quite frankly Funaki is one of the few regular looking builds on the roster and other than his "Indeed!" phase he has done nothing to warrant staying employed.

I'm dying to see how they work the absence of probably 60% of their uninjured top draws into storylines.

"Bah Gawd King! There was a bus crash and all our main guys got injured, they'll be back in a month!"

Heck, they have worked wrestlers real life problems into storylines before. Vince ill find some way to spin it to his advantage. Maybe, this will give some younger guys and gals a chance to shine.
Fire VKM.
Doesn't make any sense to me how they are the ones who got over...especialy when MCMG are one of the greatest (if not the greatest) current tag team running right now, they worked together so well ;)

Anyways, TNA was meh until the fatal 4 way - I realized that I'm a huge fan of AJ and Joe, great match with an alright ending (at least it wasn't that big boot by tomko).

People always say this.

It never happens.

Waiting for WWE to turn into a workrate-based wrestling promotion, or for them to push cruisers and let them wrestle a match that'll knock your fuckin' socks off? Might as well wait for Godot. Or the great pumpkin.

We'll get more and more Snitsky and Big Daddy V instead. Mark my words.

Remember when HBK and Cena wrestled for an hour on Raw? Didn't that supposedly happen because someone else in a major angle got suspended, and they needed to fill time?

If they try that approach again, it sure wouldn't be the worst thing in the world...

How can Snitsky, who has more bacne than anyone else on the planet not be caught in the 'roid net?

Anyhow, fun TNA this week. VKM sucks but I like the Dudleys more as heels (vicious heels at that), the 4 way match was good and I'm interested to see where the new Tag Champs go from here.

I think that was when Orton killed the legendary hotel room.

Didn't Bret Hart get a push last time this happened?

This has footage at the end from Danielson's eye. It's all out of whack.

Someone photoshop Funaki as a drug mule and that'll be your answer. Remember (and this is a damning indictment of WWE's drug policy), these suspensions came as a result NOT due to what the wrestlers took, but because they have been caught up in a very public and very loose prescription drug scandal. If they get their 'roids and testosterone from somewhere else, they aren't facing a suspension. That's why.

I admit I was wrong when I read the TNA spoilers, claiming it was going to be a terrible, terrible show. The angle with the Steiners and Team 3D was amazing (I keep gaining more and more respect for Steiner as he eases into his TNA role), the wrestling matches quite good, the backstage segments hokey (but short). A good show overall, but VKM can go get hit by a fuckin' car for all I care.

I've actually decided to mail Dragon a small parcel with books for him to check out while he's recovering. Maybe some music cds would be better being his eye is what's fucked up.
Is there anywhere else to watch Smackdown on the internet? They're showing baseball crap instead...
If you're familiar with the torrent protocol, I recommend first xtremewrestlingtorrents.net then pwtorrents.net. You might need invitations, not sure.. check.
If you're not familiar with torrents, utorrent is probably the best client for windows. Their site also has a great FAQ section. Also, check the torrent protocol wiki.

Anyway, that Impact 4-way was pretty good.. but I think I'd rather have anyone in that match other than Sting as co-champ with Angle.

SmackDown has also been pretty good tonight. I'm not usually around Friday nights but I am tonight so I figured I'd check it out. It's a lot better than RAW usually is.

Yeah, but if the number is ten wrestlers (and likely higher), then they'll have no choice. While some are already injured, those are some high profile name and most are involved in major storylines.

noticed today that the raw after survivor series will be held in ft lauderdale..

that means back to back nights of wwe live action for me

im intrigued by the whole rey starts main eventing (david vs. goliath storyline...again) but they couldn't have triple h do that, doens't make sense

ok, ive missed a shit ton of information, is the list of people that ive seen on sites like lop and stuff... is that the list of suspended wrestlers and the list of people named in the indictment (sp)? or is this all just speculation?

The way the Batista/Rey match ended has me thinking they're setting up a possible heel turn for Batista and a feud with Rey should he win the WHT.

I think there most likely is some overlap between the lists of suspensions and the indictment, seeing as Mike Bucci was released from his position today. WWE hasn't released an official list of the suspensions yet.

think we'll get to see vince mcmahon make a statement before raw on monday (well i guess at sundays taping) or do you think we'll get some mr. mcmahon bullshit to try and make light (and story out of the situation) this is fucked up and if the list turns out to have overlap.... hello screwedville

Maybe. He's scared to death of congress, but, as Kathe Lowney has written some great research about in the past, McMahon does far more damage by making light of his opponents in WWE storylines (consider the "right to censor" group versus actually taking on Brent Bozell's Parent's Television Council factually) than he would by actually engaging them.

Smackdown and ECW are taping about a half mile from me tomorrow. I think I'm gonna go to the gym and play Final Fantasy VI Advance instead (though I have half a mind to ride my bike up to the arena and find out if any suckers are trying to unload cheap tickets).

Internet rumors had been speculating that Johnny The Bull would be performing house shows with the WWE in September as REDRUM, his Boogeyman-meets-Dragon-Muta character; however, his name was brought up along with the others in the NY drug scandal, so I don't see how he has a chance in hell of getting signed. Talk about your all-time bad timing.

Meanwhile, I fully expect to see D-Lo Brown (never been a guy with an amazing physique, unless you consider how much weight he dropped b/w his wrestling start and his European title reign) and Rosey (who lives across town, 'sa matter of fact, and will be on some bullshit weight-loss reality show this fall) to show up on WWE tv shortly.

supposedly johnny the bull's already signed. He showed up as "The Unknown Wrestler" a few weeks back.

According to the news, "WWE officials" made an announcement that the names of the wrestlers will be released in November...

Seriously, Vince couldnt've picked a better time to retire. If i was him i'd say 'Have Fun Stephanie' and fly my ass to Bermuda.

WWE has fired Mike Bucci (aka Simon Dean), the company's Talent Development Manager. The New York Daily News mentioned Bucci's name as a client of the Signature Pharmacy.

So that's what the Simon System was! :whistle2:k

I hope they don't push cruiserweights. Look at what happened to Rey Mystereo. Ok, I'm probably going to go into a long rant now.

Smackdown is all fucked up. Batista v Khali is a luke warm feud becuase logically it doesn't make sense. Batista has nothing over Khali. Nothing. They were both being pushed as being really strong guys. Batista can not be as strong as Khali, so now they're trying to say Batista has speed over Khali. Then, last night, they put Batista in a match against Rey which, gah, was so damned ridiculous. It made Rey look like a damned baby. The finish was just so stupid. How can I get behind a guy who's basically a big fat dick who can't control his anger ( he pushed the ref becuase he was trying to get a chair to throw at Finlay). Then he acts all pissed and stupid because he got DQ'd. Alll the while, another runaway win for Mystereo. Exactly what he needs.

You see what they did there? So, they can't even give Mysterio a legit win. Yes, he got the title, but he also got raped weekly by Henry soon afterward. They're not even trying to put over his speed. They could've did a spot in that match where batista couldn't catch Rey and Rey could run around the ring doing springboard kicks and shit. Something. But no. They couldn't do shit becuase they care more about the fact that Batista is a powerhouse.

This is why they can't push cruiserweight wrestlers. More specifically, there are too many big guys in the main event picture for it to fly. I'd rather see them push CM Punk sized guys. Not too big, not too small, you know.

Oh, and about the drug mule thing, so many wrestlers are on that list but not one wrestler who came back from an injury with a six pack and big muscles.....

Oh, and the SD Vince segment yestarday was weird. I was looking something to make fun of vince, but all the girls there were just sucking his dick with their words. Specifically the nun. Plus they looked a little too young to be doing stuff back in the 70s and 80s with vince. His last few words were very weird. " All my family cares about the money and I'd like to tell you all that it's not all about the money. Whoever my son is we will take care of him and welcome him into our family from the bottom of my heart". It was like a Jerry Springer end show segment. I'm having a hard time figuring out who's heel and who's face in this angle. And how is the Kennedy vs Triple H thing supposed to fly when Triple H looks like he's still face. Kennedy being heel =/= him going over the Cerebral Asassin IMO.

PS, I'm starting to get sick of seeing batista on TV.

At one point today Fox News said the names of Randy Orton, Edge and Mr. Kennedy had been leaked as being suspended.
Perhaps this is why Kennedy did the job at Summerslam?

- Sources very close to WWE are saying that Vince McMahon is an emotional wreck since the Suspensions story broke yesterday. There is serious concern within the company on how TV, PPV's, ratings and storylines will be effected by the bad news in the past few days. Several WWE superstars are also a nervous wreck and some are fearing for their futures with the company. Look for WWE to try and be as discreet as possible when it comes to the suspensions and the list of names, unless something changes and they decide to go public with the list.
Push Punk damn it.

When you rant like that, it shows your age. Rey is 33 years old and has had numerous knee surgeries, including through his tenture at WCW. The fact is that the WWE is going to have to push smaller guys because at this rate Congress WILL get involved. Rey is booked foolishly, I agree, but WWE does that to a lot of their talent.

James Gibson, Spanky, Paul London, CM Punk are all people that could get over if pushed right. However the WWE is more interested in looks rather than ability and so until something like this steroids thing changes the way they do business, keep expecting to see people like Batista pushed to the moon.

I knew this Benoit tragedy would be a slow burn for the WWE.
Push Punk damn it.

I wonder if TNA is going to have a wellness policy now. They don't have the deep pockets to fend off the government so they beter be proactive than reactive.

Meh. You know who's going to get pushed? Umaga, Cryme Tyme, Kane, Finlay, Snitsky, Cena, Jeff Hardy, Triple H, Khali, MVP, Other Hardy, Chuck Palumbo, Undertaker, Mark Henry, Miz, and Big Daddy V.

There are PLENTY of WWE guys not under suspension or injury that are going to fill up the top of the card. WWE is not forced to do anything they wouldn't want to do (have good wrestling matches or push guys who aren't jacked the fuck up). Sure, you'll see Londrick on Mondays more, and Jamie Noble on Fridays more, but if you think they're going to be in a different spot on the show than the inconsequential squash match or the 3-minute comedy bullshit match, you're a fool who obviously doesn't get that the WWE knows you, the smart mark, will never ever stop watching, so they have no reason at all to cater the show to your standards - it is, after all, those who *would* and *do* turn away whose attention they crave.

Oh, by the way, if you think CM Punk will be ECW champion, you're a fucking mark worse than people who think the Undertaker is really dead. Mark my words, if the ECW title changes at all, it's going on Elijah Burke.
I wonder if TNA is going to have a wellness policy now. They don't have the deep pockets to fend off the government so they beter be proactive than reactive.
Congress has sent similar requests to TNA and ROH. Both of them desperately need to do something - we often talk about the WWE, as if only wrestlers who work for them do steroids or abuse pain pills. That's bullshit, of course, and WWE, unlike TNA and ROH (shut up, Zen, I know they're profitable), has the financial foundation to stay alive as a company if the shit hits the fan. TNA and ROH could be done for if the fines and sanctions mount.

(I've always thought Sandman's channel 99 static television Zubaz were the most gully thing I've ever seen.)

Actually he is Biker Taker from around 2002. Right down to the Bike Ride Around the Ring.

I thought Biker Taker was 1992 as fuck, too, in addition to being incredibly boring.

But, yeah; whenever I see Palumbo's entrance, I think of Biker Taker.

In Palumbo's case, it's 10x worse, as he's a mega-face.

Why would a hardass biker be a mega-face?

If they do a biker gimmick, they should tap into Satan's Sadists, and give that mofo so Nazi fatigues and a German WWI helmet.
