Fallout 3 - Gen. Discussion & Info - 'GOTY' Edition w/All 5 DLC Packs 10.13.09
The Citadel. If you haven't escorted Dr. Li there yet, you don't have access. Once inside, there's a fella who will give you Power Armor training.
Ah ok. Im assuming that is a main quest? Im have been wandering around and haven't done very much of the main quest.

Has anyone else just spent there time exploring? I am about 50 hours in and only at the Water of Life Main Quest (Water something quest, can't remember the name exactly).

I think the clock continues to run on pause though so I don't think I have played all 50 hours.

Not sure what it would have been like if I hadn't explored but the last couple missions I had already been to the places and killed everything, so the main quest is kind of playing out pretty dull.

WTF!!!! I just went to look for the briefcases achorage and when I start the game, it wont let me turn left or right. But I can use the left stick to look around on the map. Anyone tell me what happened??

Are you sitting on a chair or something like that?
The DLC was ok. Too linear and no real evil/good option while playing. Would of been cool to be able to let the Chinese win or something like that. Plus once your in the simulation, you can't just go do something else while in the middle of it like in other side quests. You're there until you beat the mission. Overall, it felt like a mission for noobs since you're skill and perk levels don't matter that much.Took me about four hours of gameplay from the DLC which about $2.50 an hour.
I agree 100%. It was way too easy, especially with unlimited health and ammo stations all over the place. It was cool enough to occupy an evening I guess. The extra weapons would've been more useful if I hadn't already overstayed my welcome in the main game.

WTF was Gray Fox doing in Alaska?

Yeah, the DLC was waaaaay easier than I expected, but I definitely had a good time with it, and it was nice to have an excuse to sit back down with the game. I was using t15b armor before doing the DLC, but
the winterised t15b is kind of a cool touch
.

Fun, but definitely too short, and I hope the next ones are a little more elaborate. I am happy that this was 800 MSP instead of 1200 or 1600, though. Worth the $10 IMO, but wouldn't have been worth more than that.

Can someone answer me this:

If I am currently in the middle of a play through of Fallout, and if I download this content can I access it in the middle of my current game, or do I have to start a whole new game or beat my current game first? If I can access the new content would it just appear as a new location on my world map or do I have to do something special to get to it?
Broken controller?
No, I tried it on my other wired one
Are you sitting on a chair or something like that?
No I finished Anchorage, fast traveled like twice, went to two new locations, and then got stuck. I loaded a previous save and it works fine, I just gotta replay the whole Anchorage thing

In other news, I spilled water on my internet box last night and at the base of my 360(standing up) so I watched a movie last night after drying it off to....I dont know. So I turned on my console and hooked up the box, box works fine.........360 has one red ring and tells me to call tech support.:bomb::bomb::bomb:

while I can't help you with the water issue, i had a similar problem during my run through the Oasis quest. There was some part of the geometry within the caverns that essentially wedged me into a crack. I could look around, but no matter what I did, I couldn't move out if it.

My guess is that there are some points in the game in which Bethesda didn't playtest it. While these issues are rare and are fixed with a simple reload, they're quite annoying.

I just finished Operation Anchorage. I thought it was pretty good. Took me three hours to finish if anyone was curious about the length.

The best part about it was the change in scenery; Bethesda really nailed the Alaskan environment.

That gauss rifle is awesome!

Well fuck.

I bought Operation: Anchorage and when I go to travel (by foot) to the location I need to get to Fallout freezes up on me, it has done this three times now. So either it is just a coincidence and my 360 is about to give me the RROD, or the DLC somehow jacked up my game. Fallout has never locked up my system before until now.

Sucks.
Have you tried deleting the game from your hard drive? Maybe the add-on corrupted the disc image?
Sucks.

Clear Fallout 3's game cache - hold the L bumper, R bumper and X while booting the game, and wait until the Press Start screen shows up.

NOOOOOOO, my console will be gone for two to three weeks for repairs. I will be getting my moneys worth out of anchorage since I have to replay it.

Haha, mine red ringed yesterday. My first one. Luckily I got this game for PC though... but that's being fixed right now too.

fuck, what am I going to do.

Sounds like what happened to me the day I got GTA IV. Froze a bunch of times after a certain amount of time playing, then it eventually got RROD. I was a sad panda. Best of luck with the cache clearing, I hope that works. If it doesn't and you never get RROD (and it freezes on other games), just tell MS you got the RROD and save yourself some trouble.

I know, this will be my.....4th or 5th. I am just gonna get it, turn it into GS, get cash(which will be lower than TIV :( ) and then buy it at Best Buy and get the extended warranty. It seems like a good plan on paper, I hope it turns out.

So Anchorage worth the $10? I'm pretty much decided on getting it but just want the CAG input. Also is it better to fit this in early/mid/late in the course of the game? I have a Saintly lvl 20, a Scourge of the Earth lvl 7 and a neutral lvl 2 so I have lots of options.

To those that have finished DLC -

Do the outcasts attack you after you have taken items out of the vault? If I spend too much time grabbing items, I start to hear "What are you doing in there?" and then the normal outcasts turn hostile and I have to kill them all. This has happened several times. Anyone else experience this?

Has anyone had a problem with the game freezing after the big event at jefferson memorial. After i follow a certain person out the door it just freezes at the loading screen.

The leader and his subordinate (forgot their names) have an argument about why you, the player, gets to loot all the stuff when they've been working their asses off for weeks or whatever amount of time and risking death in the sim. The leader and the defender get mad at each other and all hell breaks loose. They just got sour 'cause everything was yours to keep.

I absolutely freaked out when they gunned me and the others down the first time. Haha, I was so busy checking out all the merchandise, I never heard the argument flaring up behind me.

Just beat it, and was totally underwhelmed.... I beat it and got all 10 intel thingys on my first run through and i went by so quick. The only new useful thing you get is the Gauss Rifle..

I was just expecting alot more, for $10 they should have given you 1/6th of the whole Fallout 3 game!

I'm glad I didn't blind buy this. It sounds terrible, it's combat focused and my characters level is maxed, so combat is pointless to me now. There's not many cool moral choices, or that much of an interesting story. It's glitchy as hell to boot. It just sounds like a regular side quest, like the ones that came with the game. Ones that I haven't even even finished, so why pay more for another one?

I'll be waiting until that level cap DLC is released, I guess.

Why not eBay?

I enjoyed the DLC to, and for what it was I enjoyed it. I heard the power armor you get from the quest at the end, can not lose it's condition very easily. I think I'll wear that a lot now.

The worst part about this was
I was packed with stuff and moving slow when the fighting broke out, but I got that awesome outcast armor

No joke!
I just ended up shooting everyone with that missile launcher from the armory and I ended up dropping it, along with some of my old gear, after the slaughtering was done. I did end up coming back to grab my stuff, but instead of the missile launchers, I grabbed the gatling lasers. Gatling lasers are awesome. And boy oh boy, do I love that Ninja suit. It's so awesome!
Haha, I had fawks waiting upstairs to take my extra stuff
LOL, nice!

Alright, I didn't notice this at first but...
For those of you that didn't get to the Citadel yet, after beating Operation: Anchorage, did you notice that you have the Power Armor Training perk? I started a new game just for the DLC and I just went through my perks and noticed I have the Power Armor Training perk. That's pretty awesome!

I noticed that as well. That's pretty awesome in my opinion, but could it be a bug in the DLC?

Just completed Operation: Anchorage and I'm very impressed. it's fun and a good change of pace from the wastes. I especially like all of the crazy loot at the end. when I first put on the stealth suit I nearly wet myself
and when the Outcasts started fighting with each other I was able to make a safe getaway with it.
.

The Chinese stealth armor is pretty awesome. So is the gauss rifle and winterized armor. I did not notice the power armor perk, I hope I got it. That would be the icing on the cake as far as rewards go for completing the DLC.
I noticed that as well. That's pretty awesome in my opinion, but could it be a bug in the DLC?
It could be. If it isn't a bug, that's awesome for Bethesda to do.

Found another bug yesterday.

While you're wearing the Chinese Stealth Suit, you can wear an infinite number of headgears (or maybe it's limited, I haven't tested it). I'm currently wearing a Shady Hat, the AntAgonizer's Helmet, the Mechanist's Helmet, and possibly something else, but I can't remember. Might've been a Power Helmet. I don't know if the DR stacks or not, but it's pretty nifty. You guys should try it out, haha.

Yeah that's definately a bug. That was in relation to the spoiler. If these are indeed bugs, I hope Bethesda doesn't find out about them or do anything about them soon. They are actually pretty nice bugs, abusive they may be, but fun and useful they are.

I just got Lincoln's Repeater yesterday and it's a pretty interesting gun, it's nice to have, but I think the Gauss Rifle beats it in Ammo and Power. .44 caliber bullets seem hard to come by.

So I played through this game (wanted to beat it before I posted) and it is fuckING SWEET. I also played through Operation Anchorage which was pretty good too. I enjoyed the change of pace from the normal game. Now, I'm starting to do some side quests. i have 22 hours in and Level 13, so.. not too bad. Problem is a lot of the side quests are kind of boring... so far it's been about 50/50 in regards to boring/fun ones.
