OTHER INFO

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you. :)

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) since they do have the abillity to bann you from all GameRush locations if they want to.

Just got back from GR and today was the last day for buy 2 get 1 free on PS1 games.

What I got:
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 II Turbo $16.99
- I have a bootlegg copy of it, fun game 2 play with friends. Now, I have a real copy of it. MINT/Complete
Parasite Eve 2 $9.99
- Very MINT/Complete, it look is had never been touch, no scratches on both game disc.
Legend of Mana $9.99
- Broken case, the manual look worn, but still in good condition. The game disc has minor scratches.

total: $29.46

Yeah, to bring back an older discussion, the quality of GR has really deminished over the past few months, but I got a lot from them for cheap prices and I'm happy that they are trying to become a legit business now. They definately have a bigger fanbase now.

That and I'm a bit happy I got RE4 from them for 1.35. :p

As well as other great games for great prices, the Mesquite Town East GR also has a great collection of complete PS games (along with many copies of them): Non-GH FFVII, FVIII, Wild Arms, Saga Frontier 2, Breath of Fire 3, etc.

Personally, I picked up Parasite Eve (complete), and Mega Man X4 (complete), also a copy of House of the Dead 2 (complete) for the buy 2 get 1, note this was a few weeks ago, but still.

Nice snag, even before the B2G1.

I saw a copy of non-GH FF7 at the Rochester, MI GR. But, the back insert was all messed up. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting a non-gh FF7. I was bummed cause that's one of my favorite games and I sold my original copy years back.

At my local GameRush (which is 30 minutes from my home in Portland, OR and 70+ minutes away from my college), I passed up Non-GH Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Cross. I think they were $9.99 each. Decent deals, but they didn't catch my interest because I own them. I did pick up Grandia for the same price a while back since it was mint.

Nowadays, it's just a nuisance to dig through stacks of disc only sports games. If I actually had the time and diligence one of these days, maybe I would go through every single game. Perhaps I would be rewarded with a Suikoden II? I can only dream.

Flyer from the store in Melbourne has 1/31/05 as the last day...

there are 2 different deals: one is for the buy 2 get one free on NEW ps1 games, my GR said that was supposed to be over already, but they are trying to get rid of the old ps1 games, so their store was keeping the deal a while longer.

The buy2 get one free on preplayed, that supposedly ends end of january, but they may end it sooner, or decide to keep it longer.
Buy 1 Get 1 50% off on all Preplayed games started at GR.
i actually like this deal better, bc you just need to find 2 games that you want to get the deal to work instead of 3.

Me too. It's also more likely that I'll find 2 at the same price range giving the best value, instead of 2 for $20 and the only other decent one for $8.
saw a used super puzzle fighter II GBA for 9.99 at Gamerush, complete with box :)
I picked it up new at GameRush a month or two back for $15.
Does anyone know where the best GameRush store is in Los Angeles? Or are they all pretty much the same? I'll make a trip tomorrow.
The one at National and Barrington near Santa Monica is the best by far. The manager, Junior, is a really cool guy. He and a couple of the other employees really know what they're doing. Of course, a few employees are just as clueless as other stores.
So what loopholes are out there to buy 2 and then sell them back at a profit, the number of 35$ games is small.
Probably none. You might break even.

Probably none. You might break even.
Well, if you buy 2 $45 games with the B1G1 half off, then that would be about $67. You could trade them in for $70 credit. Hey, it's a $3 profit for alot of work. :)

That's *if* you can find two games that trade in for $35 each...(you'd have to probably be the one trading in those games and then buying them back, heh).

You forgot tax... you lose money actually.

Hmm... if you did "Buy 1 get 1 50% off" w/ 2 games that are $45 (w/ $30 trade in value), plus bought a cheaper game for $7 (easily doable), that'd be a total of $75.

If you then traded those three in to get a new game for $30, you'd get ~$62 in credit, plus a game that'd trade in for $30. Which would result in ~$90 value for $75.

oh yeah, the one @ downey, ca said "buy 2 get 1 free was the last day, only on pre-played games" the new PS1 games, buy 2 get 1 free was still going, but their titles are all GH version." Which I don't buy. This GR had over Used 250+ PS1 games, I had to asked" one of the workers to open more PS1 games lock below the stand. Some workers are a bitch, they don't know what they're doing. I ask them, can I take a look at some games below the stand. They said "They're not allow too". WTF, 3 days ago, someone open it for me and all those games had price tags on it, I had to asked the manager, he was cool. I told him, I'm looking to buy many as psx games I can find. I told him the story last week, He open it for me and watch me look over the games.

Another thing when I was looking/scanning over the pre-played games below the stand, 2-3 customers sat down with me and start looking too. It kinda suck because I was the only guy that asked them to open it up, got rejected twice, I even complain to them to open it up. I thought I should get first priority looking at the games. I had to go over twice, this two customers was just flipping it up and throwing it back in. this one guy got this game I wanted. RE1, RE2, RE3, BOF3 and BOF4. I did asked him, are you going to buy that, he said "yup" and he walk off and smile. Stupid Azz didn't bother putting back the games, he just lied it on the floor. I just want to beat the crap out of him.

sounds alot like this guy in Orlando when I was home on break. I was asking to see what was in the box and another dude just walks up and starts picking up stuff. The gamerush employee knew this guy as a regular and allowed it to happen.

So question of the day, on impulse last night I bought Punisher for XBOX, using the trade 3 process. But I have buyers remorse (the game has to much swearing for me and my kids), I really wanted to preorder Jade Empire. So what do you think will happen if I go back and try to return the game. Do you think I will get a full refund credited to my account? If so can I then do another trade 3 get 20$ off. If so I should come out about 20$ ahead!!

My nearest Gamerush is about 1.5 hours away from my house, but I sometimes get close to it and would consider driving the extra half hour or so to trade in some games. My question is, are there limits to how many games you can trade in at once? I mean if I stock up on cheap games and then go to Gamerush, can I get the "trade 3 get a used game for $10" like 10 times in one visit? That would make my trip very worthwhile.

It depends....some limit it to one trade per visit (well, if you use the current promotion that is)

It is trade 3, get a NEW/PreOrder for $30 BTW.

"trade 3 get a used game for $10" is over. Now the promotion is trade 3 get a new game valued at $50 or less for $29.95.

Thanks for the update, although by the time I manage to get there it'll probably change again. Ah well I think I'll just pick up any games I can get for 2 bucks or so, I see them all the time I might as well start stockpiling.

just trade it back in, you should get 30 to $35. I am pretty sure they wont allow a return on items that are open, but if you paid in blockbuster dollars, and trade the game back in, then it is basically the same thing. Better idea would be to trade in punisher+2 other games and get another new release for $30(re4 or another new hot release)

Actually it's not opened, and i'd hate to effectively lose 20$ by trading it in.

I'm hoping they will take pity on me, the manager at this store is a royal pain. She already limited me to trading only 2 of any game ever (not per day), which really makes trading difficult. I wonder if I can return it to a different store.

I don't get some peoples idea of math. While you get $62 in credit for trading in the 3 games $30+tax of that goes towards the purchase of the new one. So you are really left with less than $30 credit plus a $30 trade in game giving you just short of $60 credit., less than you spent to get it.

I bought a game with the 3 for $30new deal and took it back because my system died before I got around to it. I gave the reciept and all which clearly said I paid $29.99 for it. I got $50 back. So I don't know if this is normal but yeah, it's worth a shot.

I decided to tag along with my dad to whitter, about 35 min away. I saw GR, asked my dad can we drop by, he said it was okay and give me $20 for no reason. Hey, free money. I was hoping they still have those buy 2 get 1 free, but its over. They had buy 1 preplayed, get one pre-played half off. I pick these up, total came up to be $18.71.

PSX Tobal #1 sealed, but pre-played for $6.99? I'm open it up later tonight to see if the FFVII demo disc is in it.
PSX Dragon Ball Z Ultimatebattle 22 complete for $9.99
PSX Street Fighter Alpha 2 complete $6.99

My GR got PS2s in yesterday...I got the last one...all those trade in 3 and get one for $10...finally turned into what I wanted it to....;-)

Traded in three games yesterday too got RE4...and dude is it awesome.

I have no idea, the clerk was trying to open it up because it said pre-played on it.
Someone probably traded it in sealed, and I don't think they are allowed to sell trade in games as new.
Funny story about that. I was with one of my friends at a local GR...they made him open the game OUTSIDE the store before we could trade them in...how freakin' weird is that? Store policy the guy muttered...whatever.

Some of the games that I traded in sealed at one other gamerush they took and didn't even open. They ripped the TRU stickers off and did a crappy job of putting their own over the old ones (they still have those games, heh).

That's what I get for trying to think when I haven't gotten enough sleep... you're right: I forgot to figure in the cost of the $30 game.

Yeah, that's their store policy. They aren't supposed to take trade ins if they're sealed. Doesn't matter to me, if I am going to trade it in, I'll unwrap it.
I always wondered about trading in games that were still sealed. Interesting. either way, it's still a mint copy of Tobal #1.
Yeah, they always open them....at least from all the reports. I traded in a sealed copy of DRAKE, and he opened it.

I also noticed that NFS: Underground 2 is now getting $30. It was $35 last week when I traded it in.

Actually it's not opened, and i'd hate to effectively lose 20$ by trading it in.
I bought a game with the 3 for $30new deal and took it back because my system died before I got around to it. I gave the reciept and all which clearly said I paid $29.99 for it. I got $50 back. So I don't know if this is normal but yeah, it's worth a shot.
I had the same experience, I was credited 50$. I returned it to a different GR, as like I said before the manager at the first GR is a pain. So what's kind of cool, is I got 50$ back (but only paid 30 + 3 games), and then used the 50$ to pay for another presell (which I also traded 3 games for). I now have a 26$ credit left on my account.

Is it me, does it seem like 75% of PS2 pre-played games have a reprinted/reproduction art cover. I try comparing a my MAXIMO PS2 game bought at GR to my friend MAXIMO bought at ebgames. His Maximo cover stands out while mine doesn't stand out. Mine look reprinted and mine is probably not considered as complete.
